Can you say Climate Change now I just trolling Why is Europe experiencing such extremes in its weather and what can be done? Experts warn that European leaders need to address the concerning trends in weather across the continent - and fast. The weather in Europe this July is, effectively, a tale of two halves. In the north of the continent, temperatures have been far below average, with significantly more rain than normal, while the south is battling heat waves and wildfires. In Belgium alone, June marked the ninth month in a row with more rain than usual - a new record for the country, the worst for 119 years. Mid-June saw a month's worth of rain fall in just one week which led to floods in several regions. www.euronews.com/green/2024/07/10/why-is-europe-experiencing-such-extremes-in-its-weather-and-what-can-be-done

So far Germany getting more rain in this area Germany: Flooding and hail hit parts of Bavaria A major storm hit Upper Bavaria and Swabia in the southern German state of Bavaria on Friday evening, flooding streets and basements and causing traffic disruptions due to fallen trees. The roads were suddenly transformed into a winter wonderland in the middle of summer. Even snowplows and shovels had to be brought in due to heavy hail showers. In addition, open-air events in Munich and Regensburg had to be canceled. www.dw.com/en/germany-flooding-and-hail-hit-parts-of-bavaria/a-69650974

Yeah Tailban can't handle this rain storm Afghanistan: Deadly storms lash country's east At least 40 people had been killed and hundreds injured in eastern Afghanistan as of Tuesday, local officials said as heavy rains continued to pelt the region. Saifullah Khalid, head of Nangarhar province's disaster management authority, said that 350 people were wounded and some 400 homes had also been demolished by the torrent. Many of the injured were brought to the regional hospital in Nangarhar from Jalalabad, the capital of the province which was suffering from electricity blackouts and impassable roads due to the storms. The latest tragedy comes after flash floods in May killed hundreds of people and destroyed huge areas of agricultural land where 80% of the population relies on farming to sustain themselves. www.dw.com/en/afghanistan-deadly-storms-lash-countrys-east/a-69677460

MAN it stilll hotttt in Europe Europe: Scorching heatwave bakes Greece, Balkan region Italy, Greece and several Balkan countries continue to struggle under a prolonged heat wave that has sparked wildfires and has led to a lake drying up in Serbia for the first time. With temperatures in Athens predicted to hit 43 degrees Celsius (109.4 degrees Fahrenheit) on Wednesday, the Greek Ministry of Culture ordered the closure of one of the country's most famous landmarks, the Acropolis archeological site, from noon to 5 p.m. Authorities have warned people against extensive exposure to the sun during the hottest hours of the day and called on people to make sure they stay hydrated. The heat wave is expected to peak on Wednesday and Thursday, with scorching temperatures to mainly affect regions in central, western, and northern Greece. www.dw.com/en/europe-scorching-heatwave-bakes-greece-balkan-region/a-69692137

I know what you thinking AGAINNN? Greece shuts Acropolis and Adriatic Sea hits record-high temperature as extreme heat bakes Europe The Acropolis in Greece shut for hours, record-breaking ocean temperatures off Croatia and plans to feed zoo animals popsicles in Italy — southern Europe is baking under a “hellishly hot” heat wave. Greece’s Culture Ministry ordered the closure of the Acropolis — the country’s biggest cultural attraction — for five hours from 12 p.m. local time on Wednesday, forcing tourists hoping to visit the Parthenon temple atop the site to line up early in the morning. The Red Cross handed out chilled bottled water and information fliers to those waiting in line. “We got it done and got out quick, and now we’re going to some air conditions and some more libation and enjoy the day,” said Toby Dunlap, who was visiting from Pennsylvania and had just toured the Acropolis. “But it’s hot up there, it really is. I kinda believe that we get hot weather in SO CAL in July not this HOTTT LOL! Climate monitor records hottest-ever day in July The European Union's Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) reported on Tuesday that it had registered its highest-ever global temperature on Sunday, July 21. The average surface air temperature for the planet as a whole reached 17.09 degrees Celsius (62.76 degrees Fahrenheit), slightly higher than the 17.08 degrees that broke the same record last July. The temperature registered by C3S is based on preliminary data. July 2024 also marks the 13th month in a row that has been the hottest since records began, compared with the corresponding months in previous years. Rising temperatures drive deadly heatwaves The average global temperature for July 21 between 1991 and 2020 was 16.24 degrees. Climate scientists have warned that 2024 may prove to be the hottest year on record, outranking 2023, which currently holds the title. www.dw.com/en/climate-monitor-records-hottest-ever-day-in-july/a-69741867

I think it is hotter this summer in CALI my whole state it seem wildfire breaking out EVERYWHERE IN CALI In the summer of 2021, the 37-year-old ultra-marathon runner used an app to plot a roughly 8-mile loop through Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park in California, a huge stretch of parkland threaded with trails. On the morning of July 10, as temperatures crept into the 90s, Kreycik set off from his car, leaving his phone and water locked inside. He started at a lightning pace — eating up the first 5 miles, each one in less than six minutes. Then things started to go wrong. GPS data from his smartwatch showed he slowed dramatically. He veered off the trail. His steps became erratic. By this time, the temperature was above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. When Kreycik failed to show up for a family lunch, his wife contacted the police. edition.cnn.com/2024/07/29/climate/heat-survivability-health-death-intl/index.html

We are going died in 2030s? A critical system of Atlantic Ocean currents could collapse as early as the 2030s, new research suggests A vital system of Atlantic Ocean currents that influences weather across the world could collapse as soon as the late 2030s, scientists have suggested in a new study — a planetary-scale disaster that would transform weather and climate. Several studies in recent years have suggested the crucial system — the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, or AMOC — could be on course for collapse, weakened by warmer ocean temperatures and disrupted saltiness caused by human-induced climate change. But the new research, which is being peer-reviewed and hasn’t yet been published in a journal, uses a state-of-the-art model to estimate when it could collapse, suggesting a shutdown could happen between 2037 and 2064. edition.cnn.com/2024/08/02/climate/atlantic-circulation-collapse-timing/index.html

Temperatures are likely to exceed 40C in southern Italy as this weekend is forecast to be the hottest the country has seen so far this year. Peaks of up to 43C are expected with the southern mainland, as well as the two major islands Sardinia and Sicily the worst affected regions. From 10 to 11 August, temperatures are also expected to climb to between 39 and 40C across central and northern Italy. Northern cities including Bolzano, Ferrara and Bologna won’t be spared from the intense heat. You got see this video Watch the glacier outburst that sent a surge of water into Juneau, causing ‘unprecedented’ flooding A rush of water unleashed by an ailing glacier swelled an Alaska river to record levels Tuesday and caused destructive flooding in Juneau nearly a year to the date of a similar significant event. More than 100 homes have been damaged or impacted by the so-called glacial lake outburst flooding along the Mendenhall River in the Mendenhall Valley, according to city officials, who characterized the flood severity as “unprecedented.” Glacial lake outbursts happen when a lake of melting snow and ice and rain “drains rapidly – like pulling out the plug in a full bathtub” after pooling up so high it overtops the glacier that holds it back, the city of Juneau said in a news release. edition.cnn.com/2024/08/07/climate/alaska-juneau-flooding-glacier-outburst-climate/index.html

They claim this past month July was hottest in EUROPE history 2024 sees second-hottest July on record: EU report July 2024 turned out to be the second-hottest July the earth has seen, only slightly cooler than July 2023, according to a report released Thursday by the European Union's climate monitor. That's despite this July ending a 13-month streak of monthly temperature records. "The streak of record-breaking months has come to an end, but only by a whisker," said Samantha Burgess, deputy director of the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S). Burgess said the overall context has not changed and that the climate continues to warm despite the broken streak. "The devastating effects of climate change started well before 2023 and will continue until global greenhouse gas emissions reach net zero," she said. www.dw.com/en/2024-sees-second-hottest-july-on-record-eu-report/a-69883108

Man even volcano going up in Italy Sicily's Mount Etna erupts, closing Catania airport An eruption of Sicily's Mount Etna sent ash and lava gases high into the sky on Thursday and forced nearby Catania airport to cancel all flights in and out. Officials said the runaway had been rendered unusable by ash particles that had settled on the airfield. What the airport said "Due to the eruptive activity of Mount Etna and the simultaneous emission of volcanic ash into the atmosphere, [the] runway is unusable due to a significant fall of volcanic ash on the airfield, and therefore, both arrivals and departures have been suspended," the airport officials said. "Flight operations will resume once the flight infrastructure conditions are restored." The airport also said it was unclear when the airport would once again be fully operational www.dw.com/en/sicilys-mount-etna-erupts-closing-catania-airport/a-69953350

Of course waking up on the planet even Turkey having wildfire problem too Turkey wildfires threaten homes and war memorials Wildfires fanned by strong winds threatened parts of northwestern Turkey, including World War I memorials and graves at the Gallipoli battle site. A forest fire in the west coast province of Izmir, which started late on Thursday in the Karsiyaka district, forced some people to flee their homes due to the imminent threat to residential areas. Some people forced to evacuate Izmir Governor Suleyman Elban said the fire in the Karsiyaka district continued despite efforts to contain it using planes, helicopters, and other vehicles, adding that a village had been evacuated. More than 1,000 firefighters were battling the blaze. "The intervention is becoming difficult as it is very close to residential areas. There is no loss of life until now," Elban said. "We have information that some houses burned. Since there are winds of up to 80 kilometers (49.71 miles) per hour now, we often have to stop the aerial intervention," he said, adding efforts would intensify if and when winds eased. www.dw.com/en/turkey-wildfires-threaten-homes-and-war-memorials/a-69963225

You think it is bad you hear of dead fishes in germany because of the heat wave they having Greece declares state of emergency over flood of dead fish Greece declared a monthlong state of emergency in its central port city of Volos on Saturday after thousands of freshwater fish died, the country's main news agency reported. Authorities have promised extra cash and other support to deal with the mass die-off, in what is the area's second environmental disaster in a year. Why have so many fish died? Authorities said the freshwater fish died as a result of devastating floods that hit Greece's central Thessaly region last year. The storms flooded more than 20,000 hectares of land and refilled the nearby Lake Karla that had been drained in 1962 in a bid to fight malaria, swelling it to three times its normal size. The lake waters have since receded drastically, as a result of a severe drought, forcing the fish toward the Volos port that empties into the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean Sea. www.dw.com/en/greece-declares-state-of-emergency-over-flood-of-dead-fish/a-70099461

Now Greeks asking for finanical support Greek authorities announce financial support after dead fish wash into Volos The dead freshwater fish filled both Volos bay and nearby rivers on Tuesday after they were displaced from their normal habitats by flooding last year. Greek authorities have announced a series of measures to support local businesses after more than 100 tonnes of dead fish were carried by floodwater into the central port of Volos. According to a joint statement by the Ministries of Economy and Finance, Health, Environment and Energy, Labour and Social Security, Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, the raft of measures include subsidies for businesses who have experienced a loss of turnover. Tax and insurance payments will also be suspended and the 'Thessaly Pass' will be activated, a scheme which aims to promote regional tourism. Additionally, the local government will look into ways to fund a comprehensive programme for the promotion of the local area. www.euronews.com/my-europe/2024/09/01/greek-authorities-announce-financial-support-after-tonnes-of-dead-fish-wash-into-volos
