Get this Saudi Arabia having Haji the Islamic gathering they have sweating heat right now Saudi Arabia: Pilgrims gather for Hajj amid sweltering heat More than 1.5 million people from across the globe gathered amid intense heat in and around the Saudi city of Mecca on Friday for the annual Hajj pilgrimage. The event takes place against the backdrop of war in Gaza, which has sparked fears of a wider regional war in the Middle East. What's notable about this year's Hajj? People living in the coastal Gaza Strip were unable to visit Mecca for the Hajj this year because of the closure of the Rafah crossing to Egypt in May. That happened in May when Israel extended its ground offensive to Gaza's southernmost city. Palestinian authorities said some 4,200 pilgrims from the occupied West Bank had arrived in Mecca for the event. Meanwhile, Saudi authorities said 1,000 www.dw.com/en/saudi-arabia-pilgrims-gather-for-hajj-amid-sweltering-heat/a-69358482

Burns 14,625 Acres, 8% Contained As Firefighters Battle Gusty Winds; Hot Temperatures Forecast – Update UPDATED Monday 7:30 AM: The Post Fire near the Tejon Pass and Pyramid Lake north of Los Angeles has grown to 14,625 acres and is 8% contained early Monday, with strong winds and hot temperatures expected to hinder firefighting efforts. Firefighters worked through the night to reinforce the lines of cleared vegetation, according to the most recent update from the unified command, that include the U.S. Forest Service, Angeles National Forest, the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Ventura County Fire Department. The fire continues to threaten nearby structures and has prompted the evacuation of about 1,200 people from the Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area. Winds blew the smoke throughout the San Fernando Valley and into the Westside of L.A. Sunday, reducing air quality and creating a brown haze that hung over much of the region. Some reports had smoke stretching down to San Diego. deadline.com/2024/06/southern-california-post-fire-burns-11000-acres-1235974901/

You think it is hot in your hood try Saudi Arabia during Haji Hundreds of Hajj pilgrims die as Mecca temperatures hit 120 Fahrenheit Hundreds of people have died and thousands have been treated for heatstroke while performing the annual Muslim Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca amid extreme temperatures of up to 49 degrees Celsius (120 degrees Fahrenheit). Some 165 Indonesians are among the dead, CNN Indonesia reported, citing the country’s Consulate General’s Hajj Management Office in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, at least 41 Jordanians, 35 Tunisians and 11 Iranians have died, according to authorities in each country. A further 22 Jordanians are missing and 26 Iranians have been hospitalized, the Iranian Red Crescent said Wednesday, according to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency. Some of the Iranians died due to heatstroke while others had underlying conditions, the Iranian Red Crescent said. The death toll is likely to rise, as Saudi Arabia and Egypt have yet to release official figures. Additionally, the governments are only aware of pilgrims who have registered and traveled to Mecca as part of their country’s quota – more deaths are feared among unregistered pilgrims. edition.cnn.com/2024/06/19/middleeast/hajj-deaths-mecca-extreme-heat-intl-latam/index.html

Well techincally it is Islamic calender this year fall in June so if you want good Muslum you got do that time every 11 months you suppose to do once in your life time Who or what is responsible for Hajj deaths? Arabic-language social media has been flooded this week with shocking images from Saudi Arabia. The pictures and videos show people who were undertaking their once-in-a-lifetime Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca collapsed on the side of the road or slumped in wheelchairs, apparently close to death or dead. They are dressed in traditional pilgrim's white, their faces covered with cloths. In several pictures, corpses appear to have been left where they presumably collapsed. What started as a rumor on social media was confirmed as the weeklong Hajj pilgrimage ended: Hundreds of pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia, evidently due to extremely high temperatures and lack of shelter or water. Temperatures in Mecca, Islam's holiest city, rose to 51.8 degrees Celsius (125 degrees Fahrenheit) during the course of the annual event, which started late last week. www.dw.com/en/who-or-what-is-responsible-for-hajj-deaths-in-saudi-arabia/a-69428991

Parts of Albania, Bosnia, and Croatia reported temporary outages, while almost all of Montenegro was without power for several hours. See that part of Switzlernad is not used to these type of storms Three missing after heavy storms cause landslide in Switzerland Rainfall in the Swiss canton of Valais has caused severe flooding, isolating Zermatt and prompting evacuations as authorities raise alert levels. Three people were missing on Saturday after massive thunderstorms and rainfall in southeastern Switzerland caused a landslide, authorities said. One woman was pulled out alive after being buried by the landslide in the Alpine valley of Misox in Graubünden. A rescue operation for the three others is ongoing. The rockslide hit a group of houses in the municipality of Lostallo. Rescuers have been searching all day Saturday with excavators and specially-trained search dogs. Getting hotter in Balkans Major power outage hits Balkan countries as region swelters in heatwave Southeastern Europe has been slammed by a seasonally early heatwave coupled with rampant power outages. Both are leaving Balkan countries at a standstill. A major hours-long power outage hit much of the Balkans on Friday as the southern European region sweltered in an early heatwave that sent temperatures soaring to more than 40C. Montenegrin authorities said that an outage that lasted for several hours in the country's power distribution system left almost the entire nation without electricity. Similar problems were reported in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and the coastal part of Croatia. Nada Pavićević, a spokeswoman for Montenegro's state power distribution company, described the outage as a “disturbance of regional proportion” and said authorities were still working to determine what happened. www.euronews.com/2024/06/21/major-power-outage-hits-balkan-region-as-countries-swelter-through-early-heatwave

MAN Haji pilgrams can't catch a break ‘Not enough medics’ to help pilgrims with heat, Hajj witnesses tell CNN as toll mounts There were not enough medics or basic facilities to protect Hajj pilgrims from the effects of the sweltering heat in Saudi Arabia last week, two pilgrims recently returned from Hajj told CNN, as the official death toll from this year’s Hajj pilgrimage soared to almost 500. Witnesses said worshipers losing consciousness and walking past bodies covered in white cloth became a norm during the mass religious event. This years’ Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca has been held amid extreme weather conditions which saw temperatures consistently soar above average figures. The exact death toll remains unclear and is expected to rise much further, as each country has been independently announcing the deaths of their nationals. www.cnn.com/2024/06/22/middleeast/medics-pilgrimage-hajj-eyewitnesses-intl/index.html?iid=cnn_buildContentRecirc_end_recirc

Over 1000 people are believed to have died during the pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, with many of the deaths attributed to extreme heat. At least 658 of them were Egyptian. Temperatures in Mecca, Islam's holiest city, rose to 51.8 degrees Celsius (125 degrees Fahrenheit) during the course of the annual event, which started late last week. Beryl is coming to Jamacia Man Beryl now expected to make landfall in Jamaica From CNN Meteorologists Mary Gilbert and Brandon Miller The official forecast from the National Hurricane Center now shows the center of Beryl making landfall in southern Jamaica on Wednesday. Previous forecasts had shown the center passing just south of the island. But Beryl’s track forecast has slowly shifted north over time and now the island is right in its path. This track shift will increase the impacts felt by those in Jamaica as the hurricane’s eyewall — where the strongest winds are located — will pass over land. Because of this, the storm surge forecast has also increased and now water levels could rise up to 8 feet above normal tide levels Wednesday. edition.cnn.com/weather/live-news/hurricane-beryl-category-5-storm-jamaica-07-02-24/index.html

Well Hurricane Beryl just arrived Dangerous Hurricane Beryl blasting Jamaica while racing across Caribbean Key Takeaways: •Beryl crossed a portion of the Windward Islands as an intense Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph Monday •Beryl is the strongest hurricane on record to hit portions of the Windward Islands so early in the season and the earliest 165-mph Category 5 hurricane on record for the Atlantic basin •AccuWeather meteorologists warn that Beryl could reach part of the United States after its trek through the Caribbean Hurricane Beryl will continue to churn west-northwestward, with significant risks to lives and property coming to areas over the central and northwestern Caribbean for the balance of this week. AccuWeather meteorologists have deemed there will be no threats from Beryl along the Atlantic coast of the United States. Still, interests along the Texas portion of the Gulf Coast should monitor the situation closely, as the chances of direct impacts are increasing. Quick-moving Beryl tore across the Windward Islands with a path of destruction on Monday. The smaller islands south of St. Vincent and areas just north of Grenada bore the storm's full Category 4 fury, with maximum sustained winds of at least 150 mph. The eye passed directly over the island of Carriacou at 11:10 AST. Late Monday evening, Beryl strengthened to Category 5 status (sustained winds of 157 mph or greater), with sustained winds reaching 165 mph Monday night. It has since lost wind intensity and is a Category 4, but remains a dangerous storm. www.accuweather.com/en/hurricane/dangerous-hurricane-beryl-blasting-jamaica-while-racing-across-caribbean/1664446

This up in Northern Cali California wildfires force thousands to evacuate More than 25,000 people in northern California were ordered to evacuate on Wednesday after wildfires burned out of control. More than 1,200 hectares (3,000 acres) of grass was consumed after a major fire broke out on Tuesday outside Oroville, near the state capital of Sacramento. There were at least a dozen smaller blazes as well, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or Cal Fire. "The conditions in our county this summer are different than we've experienced the last two summers," Butte County fire chief Garrett Sjolund told reporters. "The fuels are very dense. Brush is dry, and as you can see, any wind will move a fire out very quickly." www.dw.com/en/california-wildfires-force-thousands-to-evacuate/a-69554473

OH OH! Italy: Flights disrupted as Mount Etna erupts Sicily's main international airport suffered disruption on Friday, with it even shutting down briefly, as Mount Etna, Europe's most active volcano, erupted. Mount Etna spewed fiery lava and large columns of ash and smoke up to five kilometers into the air overnight, Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) said. The flow of lava into the sea calmed down as of late Friday, INGV said. Catania Airport said it was "unusable due to volcanic ash: both arrivals and departures are suspended," earlier in the day. Later, the airport notified travelers in an update that the airport had been reopened for departures, while arrivals were temporarily limited to two per hour. As well as being the most active, Mount Etna is Europe's highest volcano, at about 3,324 meters (almost 10,905 feet) tall. Around Catania, on the eastern coast of Sicily, residents and authorities came out to clean up the streets that remained blanketed in ash. Millions of passengers transit through Catania airport every year for a taste of Sicily, which is among Italy's most popular tourist hotspots. www.dw.com/en/italy-flights-disrupted-as-mount-etna-erupts/a-69575735
