Morning everyone. (((Kel))), I am so sorry you are sick, AND having to work so many hours. It is good to have you pop in and say hello, and I do hope you'll be able to come back soon and catch up with us. We miss you. Lulu, wow, I just cannot believe those temps!! One hundred this week, and 104 last week?!?!?!?! In October?!? (Even in California!) Really hope it's going to cool down for you, soon. (((Catt))), I am so sorry, there is so much for family members to deal with after a death; if the grief isn't bad enough, then there's all the legal stuff. I just now stopped and asked God to walk through it with you and give you strength, wisdom, and comfort. Anna, wonder why Art gave you two old, dirty China plates?! That seems kind of odd, but maybe he thinks there is some value to them if they're cleaned up? I hope you are able to find a way to get them looking nice again; I love beautiful old dishes. Margie, hope you're having a nice week, and that your congestion is better since you posted last week. Checked in with Cindy on Facebook yesterday and she's still having to use her Kindle, but is trying to get an old computer working, so we hope that will be soon! I'm leaving in a few hours to go to the Senior Adult Retreat with my parents' church that they do every October, that I've been attending for the last few years. It's always a lot of fun and a nice little get-away. I get plenty of attention since I'm usually the youngest one there. (For the time being. ) Probably won't even take my laptop this time because the conference center doesn't have the best internet connections, so I'll see you all in a couple of days.

Hi Kel! Thanks for your prayer Lorrie. I had some peace for the first time in days. There is this crazy merry-go-round concerning my fathers tiny estate. Today, I decided the most important thing to do is to get him buried and a marker put on his and his wife's grave. Even that requires some bureaucratic hoop jumping. But not half as bad as trying to settle his estate with no will or anything. They seem like vultures circling. If they have trouble with me burying him, then that's just too bad.

Hello! I have been busy for a few days, glad tomorrow is Saturday when I will rest. I am waiting for some vegetables to cook in the oven, so I will write and read here until they are cooked, they sure smell good cooking. Catt, sorry to hear about your dad dying, that was sudden, I don't know what happened. When my dad died, he died in his sleep and was 76 years old. Thankfully my brother took care of all the funeral, so I did not have to be part of that. I also had a strange feeling for about a month after he died, but with time that all got better. It will be good when your dad is buried and all the dealing with the estate is over with. I have been saying prayers for you during this time. Cindy, good to hear from you and that you are baaaack. Hopefully we will read more from you next week.
Hi Kel! I sure hope you feel better soon, I believe you will and you have beatiful faith! God bless you. I am saying some prayers for you. Hi Lulu and Leigh and Margie. Well I have to go now and watch what I am cooking. I don't have an oven in my home, it is in a shed, so I will go check on that. Anna

yep, I'm back! See my post on the thread about my computer.... Love and miss you all! Yay!!! So happy to have you back, Cindy!
((Catt)), glad to hear you were able to think clearly and plan what to do next with your father's estate.
Anna, wow - you have to go to the shed to put food in the oven?! I guess it's good since it keeps your house cooler, but I just hope it's not too far a walk! Well I had a wonderful time with the Georgia Baptist Senior Adult Fall Retreat. Even though it's geared to.... oh, I'd say 80 year olds, it's still so much fun! They always have the same people leading the different parts of the retreat - the music, the piano, the pastor, and some of the same workshop leaders year after year, so we know what to expect. There is a retired Bible college professor who teaches a overview of the book of Revelation. My mother and I usually go into his class (it's only an hour long) and we learn something new every time. He is 91 and has taught through Revelation over 60 times!
I spent some time visiting with him and his wife and they are such a joy. His first wife died a few years ago which prompted him to search the scriptures and write a little book called "Our Journey into Heaven" (nothing like the popular near-death experience books that are so plentiful nowadays), which I bought this time. He's also written a book on Revelation which I already had. He is remarried to a precious lady and they are so cute together! I mentioned listening to Dr. J. Vernon McGee's program and he told me he had heard Dr. McGee preach in person several times (Dr. McGee died nearly 30 years ago) so THAT was neat... like shaking the hand that shook the hand! They always have a group of volunteers who help run the retreat, retirees from all over the country. I was talking to one of them during dessert on Thursday night and discovered he and his wife came all the way from New Hampshire to help! Well!!! Immediately I said, "I have a good friend in New Ipswich -- do you know where that is?" Turns out they live two towns over from Cindy and have relatives in New Ipswich! He sent me over to his wife, and she and I began talking and I pulled out a notepad and started writing down her family members' names to see if Cindy knows any of them. I went straight to my room and sent Cindy a message on FB to ask about it (I had to type it {painstakingly!} on my cell phone so didn't get to give her the details - which is what I'm doing now); it turns out Bruce works with one of her nephews!
Again -- it's like "the hand that shook the hand" -- almost like getting to meet Cindy live and in person!
Really, what are the chances that I would go to a small town in North Georgia and meet a husband and wife all the way from New Hampshire whose family member knows "our" Cindy?!?!? When they asked how I knew her, it felt kind of funny admitting that, well - actually I've never met this good friend, but I explained about Fresh-Hope, so maybe she'll visit and join. She was super nice and looks a little like Lulu. And it's funny, when I tried to pronounce Cindy's last name she said, "What??" so I spelled it and then she pronounced it... and it sounded nothing like the way I said it! I loved hearing her New England accent! Oh well I need to get going and get ready for church.... gonna be late because I spent too much time writing!

Hi Leigh! Nice to see your back from Georgia. What a nice visit you had there. I did not know that Veron McGee has been dead for 30 years now. I know once you said I should listen to him and I did some in the past, and I thought to myself that he sure must be old now and still speaking on the radio. The reason why I did not listen to much to him was his heavy southern accent, so he was kinda hard for me to understand. What a small world it is sometimes when we meet people. Here where I live we met a man that was born and raised in the same city that we were in another state and he knew a friend of ours. Or like Ron who once went to a barber shop at an airport and met a man that was a childhood friend of his deceased father.

Hugs to catt. Praying the Lord will give you wisdom for the decisions you need to make and for a sense of His presence.
Spent the weekend at my son's house. Went shopping with them for grandson's new shoes. He will be 12 in February and is growing fast. Came home tired but had a great time. Working on flowerbeds today.
I'm Reading "Bible: The Story of the King James Version" by Gordon Campbell. It's a good book and not overly technical.

That's so amazing Lorrie! I'll have to tell Bruce because as soon as he heard Dutch's name he was really surprised you knew them and wanted to know how. Of course I didn't know yet so couldn't tell him. Around here, certain names like LaFreniere, Salo, Aho,Bergeron,Saari,Somero, and various others, are very common and it seems like every other person has one of those names.
Sorry I couldn't get on here yesterday. It was a crazy busy day with the funeral, shopping, and the kids coming over. By the time they left, all I could do was recline in my chair and not move LOL
Guess what? I finally got firefox back today! Just now in fact. I'm so glad! I still have no idea what caused or is causing the problems. Yesterday, the computer wasn't working right, but today it is, so that's what counts.
Unfortunately, I've got a ton to do today too and really need to get busy. I will have tomorrow too as I need to finish painting the office. I got half done the other day thankfully. I wanted to do it while it was warm enough to open the windows, but that can't be done now since it's decided to be winder already. It got down to 19 degrees last night, and was snowing yesterday! I couldn't believe it. At least it was kind enough that the snow didn't stick around, but still!
Oh, Saturday, when we went to Michelle's surprise party, I got to chat with the woman the Lord sent to disciple me many years ago! It was so wonderful to get to talk to her. I told her all about you guys and how great you were and how much I cared for you all. It was a wonderful surprise from our Father to get to see her again!
Well, I want to go share something else the Lord shared with me, so I'll see you all later!

Nice, we got our first troll, someone promoting tarot cards and psychic readings posted on the thread about "More about how Satan is attacking our family members." I banned them. Sigh.

I hope you're feeling better Kel. A lot of folks around here are sick too. Bruce said that everyone where he works has gotten it, one after the other. One of the guys is still very sick with it as it turned into pneumonia on him. Jenn told me the kids in school are all getting it too, and I've heard people in many other states saying the same thing. Nasty stuff, that's for sure.
How did David's meeting go?
Michael's not feeling well today either and came over here from work since he was working close by. He claimed the couch and has been sleeping. I hope he feels better soon too. Because of that,it doesn't look like I'll get any painting done today, so will have to put it off for another day. That's fine though. I don't mind at all!
I got to see Catt yesterday. She seems to be doing a little better now. She's such a sweet lady, and so compassionate and caring about others. She worked hard all the time caring for her father, rather than taking the easy way out. She put his needs above her own and I know the Lord will reward her for that. I've learned so much from her!
Got some more to share with you all that the Lord showed me today, so going to go post that now. Love you guys!

Good grief Kel, how long will this drag on? I assume it's still about the same thing right? This is just crazy! Is this how they normally operate and handle these sorts of things? I'm sure this can't be the first and only incident they've had like this....
Sorry I'm so late but I've been busy writing a letter to my caseworker about the bed I need. Took me quite awhile and I just finished it. Now I have to get busy painting! Sorry about this, but I'll hopefully be done today and tomorrow we can finally get back to normal here, God willing!
Love you guys and miss being here, but like I said, hopefully tomorrow I'll be back and then you'll wish I was still busy LOL

That's so unfair and unreasonable Kel. I sure hope it all gets cleared up soon!
No, in fact I have to call my caseworker in a minute because I got a notice that the email I sent her wasn't received yet. I guess she has to add me to her contacts or something so she'll get it. I'm sure my doctor faxed his in already though. Once she's read my letter, we just have to wait again and see if she'll approve it. I think I'm going to go ahead and call her right now while I'm thinking of it.

Good morning all!
All I know about the bed is that my doctor spoke to the caseworker yesterday and also faxed her a copy of my letter since she didn't get it in her email. She called me and told me that much, but that was all she said. It's in the Lord's hands. I'm praying He will give her compassion and help her to do what's right and best for me regardless of what the insurance company wants...
It's the weekend again already and we have to go to the store again to get meds and groceries etc. I'm pretty tired as I didn't get enough sleep last night, but I'll live.
I just have to tell you what the Lord did for us though. I've been wanting to, but wasn't sure if it would be ok or not. So decided I'd go ahead and tell you and just not name names till I find out how they feel about it. (as usual, I keep forgetting to ask) As you all know, our car has been giving us a lot of problems and constantly breaking down. We knew it wouldn't pass inspection this year come December, but had no way of getting another car. So I'd been praying the Lord would make a way for us somehow, although I told Him I didn't have the slightest idea how He could. Well after it broke down yet again a couple of weeks ago, we got a call from a friend who asked us if we still needed a car. Of course I said yes. They told us that they had a car they didn't need and wanted to give it to us! I explained we'd only been able to save $400, but if they'd be willing to let us pay a very little each month, maybe we could work something out. They said that wouldn't be necessary, all they wanted was $1 to make it legal! I was in shock to say the least, and all I could do besides saying "Yes!" and "Thank you!" was praise God for His amazing ways! So now we have a Chevy Trekker and it runs great! Bruce loves it and has been telling all his friends how wonderful God has been to us and how amazing He is in the way He provides for us! In fact, today, when we go to the store, will be my first time riding in it. I can't wait! The Lord is just so wonderful! I would have never guessed in a million years that He would provide for us this way!
I have to admit though that I did ask Him if we couldn't be the ones to help someone else sometime soon though. I love how He provides for us in so many different ways, but I'd honestly much rather be on the giving end instead of the receiving end... know what I mean? But whatever His Will is, is fine with me. I just had to share our joy with you all, I've been dying to tell you about it LOL

Thank You Lord, what wonderful news -- the gift of a car!! Cindy, I am so happy for you & Bruce, and don't worry, you are ALWAYS giving of yourselves -- just look at this website and all the years of labor and love you've put into it -- that's just one example. Now if only you can get your bed, you'll be all set! Praying once again for that caseworker to approve the request. (((Kel))), I am so sorry that David's situation continues to drag on. I'm praying right now that God will use this for good in David's life, and that it will work out in his favor. Lulu, you mentioned your former church a couple of weeks ago, and I read it and didn't comment at the time but was wondering how the meeting went? I don't remember the details, but did want to get back to you about it. I am glad you are in a better church now. Hello and love to everyone else - I have to go get ready because we are going to brunch in a few minutes. I took Daniel and one of his best friends (along with his mother) up to Clemson University yesterday for a campus tour. It is a gorgeous place; some of you saw the picture on FB. Can't believe my baby is a junior already and looking at colleges. He's considering joining the Air Force to pay his way through, which is a great way to do it, but what parent wants their child in the military these days?

Thanks Lorrie, I appreciate it! I honestly feel bad about this site though as I really haven't been able to spend as much time as I want to here for the last month or so. And I won't be able to today either. It seems like there's always something preventing it which is really driving me nuts. Thank the Lord for Daniel or I don't know what I'd do!
Lorrie, if he's considering the AF or any of the armed services, please suggest to him that the best way to do that is to join ROTC in high school first. That way he goes in as an officer not enlisted and it makes a huge difference in terms of pay! Enlisted men often need food stamps and charity from the officers wives just to get by, their pay is so low. That was true back when I was a child (my dad was a Lt.Col. in the AF and we were always doing things to help the enlisted guys) I told my boys this, but of course they ignored me. After they joined they desperately wished they'd paid attention though LOL because ROTC grads not only get in as officers, they also aren't as rough on them in basic.
Yes, Lulu, I've been wondering about that myself and forgot to ask you. I'm sorry!
Bruce's boss gave him a gift cert. for a free dinner for us both at a nice restaurant as bonus for all his hard work, so Bruce is taking me out to dinner today! It's been ages since we've been out to eat. Well except those two times we splurged and took the kiddos to the pizza place lol
Jenn's been sick since Friday poor baby. She's got that same crud everyone else has been getting. She did sound a little better this morning though, so hopefully she'll be ok by tomorrow.

Great news about the car, Cindy. With winter coming, you will need a reliable car.
Cooler here, and lots of rain. South of Dallas a freight train fell over because the tracks were washed away. And the freight cars were carrying concrete. What a mess! I'm glad no one was hurt.
Our son and his wife were here yesterday. Their son was spending the weekend with her parents. Tim (our son) gave his Dad the computer that he was replacing. It's a few years old but much newer than the one hubby has been using. He cleaned out a drain in the bathroom sink too. He's such a good help!
Hope everyone has a good week.

That's wonderful that he helps so much Margie. What a blessing! The weather here continues to be crazy. I wasn't sure what to wear yesterday. It was supposed to be chilly so I dressed for that and instead it got quite warm for a change. So I wound up having to change. Then it got downright cold by evening and I was changing yet again. Our weather though has typically been about 10-15 degrees below average for this time of year. Right now it's about 38 but it's supposed to get up to 51 or so. We'll see.

I saw that last night too and was amazed! What do you mean that you're headed that way...are you going to Texas?
I can't believe I did it again, but I spent so much time in God's Word that I've got to get started on the carpet now or I won't get it done. I really need to shampoo my carpet, it's badly needed.
