Good day, it is a windy, chilly, cool day here today,a good day to just stay indoors. I hope you get your housework done today Cindy. I struggle to keep up with housework, but I pine away at it. I think I will buy a new cookbook today, Vegan on the Cheap. All my meals I cook now are vegetarian, and also I am limiting desserts. Leigh, when you say you have orchestra practice today at church, do you play a musical instrument in the orchestra, or do you sing at the church? I am thinking that you would be able to play a musical instrument or else be the one that sings. You must belong to a church with a large congregation. Whether you sing or play a musical instrument, that is a beautiful gift to be blessed with from the Lord. As far as the neighbor that is looking for a wife and sending money to women, I think there are people that give him advice, but he seems to be a stubborn person. It would be good for him not to be alone. He had a girlfriend, but he must not have her friendship anymore.

Margie, how sweet that you're able to watch the dog of your friend who died. Did you get to go to the park and see some old friends from when you used to take Little Bit? (Don't remember if I ever told you, but my grandparents used to have a dog named Little Bit.) My uncle is a bagpiper and used to play at weddings, funerals, etc. He's had to retire from it because it takes more air than he's got now at age 81, but he played for years and loved it. Something about hearing a bagpipe at a funeral really brings on the tears. Yes, we went to the dog park but I didn't see anyone I knew from before. But Little Bit and I went on weekday mornings and there's a different group on weekends. Today is rainy and cool and I didn't want either of us getting a chill so we didn't go. I did laundry and cleaned a little. Then took a nap, along with my new dog friend. She likes naps!

Yesterday(Sunday) was busy. It was the last day to bring in shoe boxes for Christmas Child. I didn't know that. I thought we had another week. So, I had to run home and get the other 4 boxes before church started. Good thing I just live next door! I help run the computer that puts up a display for the church service (Praise and worship lyrics, pictures and Power Point slides for the Pastor's sermon).Yesterday I got to enjoy sitting with the rest of the congregation because it was another person's turn. I love being a part of the music ministry. Even if it is in a small way. It get's me to the church on time too!

Catt, that sure is convenient for you to live so close to church. Yesterday it was raining so the mail lady did not leave a large box of food that we ordered at the mail box but left a note to pick up the box at the post office, so today I have to drive many miles to the post office to get the box. I hope you have a blessed day in the Lord today ladies.

Everyone, please read this, it's also on the Check it out! How To's & New Stuff Regularly Updated! thread on the 1st post and elsewhere. I've continued to update it although I don't think anyone's read it.[/b] If you have trouble logging in or registering, please go here for help: support.proboards.com/board/74/users-members I don't control that part of the board so cannot help you with it, so telling me about it won't help. But the folks at proboards seem to be very good at helping with any kind of problem related to the board.
There is also a forum "help" guide that tells you how to do everything. It's located here:

Not that there isn't still plenty to do but at least I'm not behind on the things that really need to be done regularly.
I feel so sorry for folks like that. Everyone wants to be loved. Does he know the Lord? Usually when people know the Lord and His love, it helps them wait for the spouse He's created for them....

Well, Michael's still here, and still not at all well. I don't know what to do except take as good care of him as I can....

We had a big surprise yesterday too. I dragged our trash can down to the dumpster to empty it and the dumpster was gone! They'd moved it to another place without telling us! I was so upset! But the Lord showed me from a very short devotional what my attitude about it should be today. It's so good I'm going to go post it in the devotionals forum now.

Cindy I remember that happened to you before when you went to take trash to the dumpster, the dumpster was not there. Well I hope it is back now. lol Talk about being upset, now you can laugh at what upsets me, it's ok, I should just laugh too. Our one horse town so to speak, just lost it's bank, the only bank in town, also there is no grocery store, at least we have a gas station. I have noticed more empty building in the area and in near by towns. About Mr. looking for love in all the wrong places, I think he is a Catholic. I never have talked to him. Some men around here help each other and some are trouble makers, and he is a trouble maker. We still say prayers for him and hope the best for him, and it is good that he does talk to Art, because the men in this area know what's going on in each others lives.

I honestly don't recall that ever happening before Anna, maybe it was someone else though, or maybe from before we bought this house back in 2003. The Lord helped me deal with the problem His way. I was really angry and so was Bruce, as it seems that everything has gone wrong since we agreed to buy this park. But the Lord had me call one of the men on our board of directors that He showed me was a godly man. So I spoke to him and explained how this hurt all of us on this end of the park as we're all disabled and unable to walk a half of a mile to get rid of our trash. He was very understanding and has promised to bring it up at our next board meeting. Of course he couldn't promise it would change anything, but I didn't expect him to. By himself he really can't do anything, but with God all things are possible. Either way it goes now though, I'll accept it from the Lord's hand. It's also shown me once again how much we take for granted, so I'm trying to be even more observant of all the Lord's blessings each day.
Boy it sounds like the town is really dying there, that's such a shame. Is it because of the economy or because of the border issues? I'd guess probably some of both. I hate to see our small towns die though. To me they're the heart of this country. I'm glad that man has someone to talk to at least and that you're so faithful to pray for him too. I have a feeling that when we get to heaven we're all going to be very surprised to discover just how much our prayers for others actually did.
I just finished another series of Christian fiction books. It was a good series but borderline as to what I'll allow myself to read. I wasn't sure about the author so was being careful to be discerning as I read it. It was enjoyable for sure, but there were some things that were not scripturally correct so I'd never recommend them to others, especially the last book as it went way off scripture. I still enjoyed it though, as the Lord used it to show me what was really true from His Word. The one thing that it really seemed to impress on me, that I've been getting from God's Word as well,is just how bad things could get before the rapture.I don't want to talk about that here though, as I really want to write about it in the End Times forum. So that's what I'm off to do now!
Have a good day everyone!

it's been down right chilly here in the AM....but nice in the afternoon's...I'm fighting a cold this week. drinking my honey tea and taking my tea spoon of honey before bed....I've also gone down 2 sizes now!!! things here have been going ok. Working a lot, normal hours these last few weeks though....this is a Jazz of a Jazzy weekend a coming so that's good to look forward to....the news has made me sad though...I've found myself praying more and more often through out my days....I can't say I'm scared, or worried, but my heart aches, I'm sad, all this going on around the world must make our Lord sad. I have to keep reminding myself that the Lord is in control, and Cindy I like your quote * I except it from the Lords hand * that is our bottom line to all that's going on in the world... evil is abound, and that is of satan's hand... it's a quiet nite here, Ron is doing his bible study at our old church...Randy resigned, I'm not sure if I shared that with you all....so Ron as a Deacon has been filling in for Wed. nite bible studies. we are still not sure if we're going back or staying where we are....we are sorta waiting on the Lord to lead us in this matter....this Sunday we will share thanksgiving lunch with them. welp, it's that time to go turn on TV and fall a sleep...

(((Lulu))), it is so nice hearing from you! I miss your updates, but know you've had a lot going on with work and all lately. Glad to hear that Ron is leading Bible study at your former church; I'll bet he's a great teacher! Saying a prayer right now that God will direct you in which church you should be serving.
Well I was going to write more yesterday afternoon, but got caught up reading some articles Cindy posted, and one led to a blog that I really enjoyed reading, so never got back in here. If you have a chance, check out what she has posted this week (and Daniel's postings also, of course). Lots of great stuff on the board!
This morning is my last Precept Bible class until January, and this afternoon I have to teach the "kids cafe" music class, which always brings on the anxiety! Still, I enjoy it.
Hope everyone is doing well and having a good week.

Bless your heart Lorrie, thank you for being such an encouragement to me! I learn a lot from you guys too! You should write a book entitled "Dumpster Devotionals." that would sure be a different title wouldn't it? it's been down right chilly here in the AM....but nice in the afternoon's...I'm fighting a cold this week. drinking my honey tea and taking my tea spoon of honey before bed....I've also gone down 2 sizes now!!! things here have been going ok. Sounds like a lot's been happening at your old church. If you have time I'd love to hear about it especially since it sounds like things are starting to turn out well.
Looks like we're both doing the same thing as I'm also fighting a cold...well I was fighting it anyway but in my case the cold one. So I'm feeling pretty miserable at the moment. Jenn's almost better. Grace is on the tail end of it; Now Elijah's sick with it. Michael spent night before last at the hospital but came back last night. So guess it's my turn now.
You know, if all that's going on in the world now, has caused us to start praying more and more, then that can only be a good thing! The Lord loves to hear from us, that's for sure! I honestly haven't paid much attention to the news at all for the last couple of weeks. I've scanned a few things and the good ones I've passed along, but haven't dwelled on anything. Like you said in way, I'm too busy praying to spend much time thinking about it all, unless it's something the Lord's pointing out to me to teach me something. (((Lulu))), it is so nice hearing from you! I miss your updates, but know you've had a lot going on with work and all lately. oh I bet I know which one it was Lorrie! I want to post more from there since I have permission now, but haven't had a chance to. What are you all studying in the precept class now? I'm back in Mark at the moment but skipped over to 1 John for awhile and have been messing around in proverbs off and on too.
Oh, we have a new thing to play with now! I'll try it out here and see how it works but will write about it in the how to thread. If you look up at the buttons when you're posting and look where the smiley button is, the very last button after the smiley button looks like a paint brush. Click on it and play with it for awhile I'll have to play with the button before it too as I'm not sure what it does! But I'll know by the time I post in the how to thread next!

Cooler today and supposed to get colder in a day or two. Went to my friend's funeral yesterday. It was a nice service.
Taking it easy today. Not sure what we're doing for Thanksgiving. Hugs to all.

I also like locally grown honey. I am going shopping today, that means I have to drive over 8 cattle guards. Those are rough on the car suspension. I can not get on-line to Fresh-Hope anymore using firefox, it says forbidden. I don't know why there is that change, my setting is set to allow it. I use google and it works. Cindy, could you get the twin bed from insurance? That would be better than no bed at all.

That's what we drink too when we're sick. (we being me and the kids, not Bruce cause he never gets sick according to him LOL
What time do you get up Lulu??? This says you wrote your post 10 hours ago from my time now and it's 9 am now, so that means you wrote it around 11 pm my time... OH, duh! You wrote it before you went to bed and here I thought you were pulling a Kel and getting up at all kinds of weird hours!
That's really wonderful about your old church. I wish something like that would happen to my old church too. Or any of the churches around here for that matter. Basically I was trying to remember what you told us happened in the first place that caused the problems, but my memory just isn't working. It's not a big deal so if you don't feel like re writing it, that's ok. On the other hand, if it's something you could turn into a testimony to show God's miracles in our lives, that would be great for the testimony forum too.
I've always wondered about the dog parks, though I've never seen one. But don't some dogs fight with other dogs? I know I've sure seen plenty of dogs fight with each other, and some play with each other, so I've always wondered how people would know if the dogs would get along or not...

That's weird, cause I always use firefox. Won't use anything else. I bet either when it did it's last update or if you added something to your computer or browser, it probably included one of those things that's supposed to tell you when you might be on a bad site and it's including this for some reason, but there's nothing at all wrong with the site. No bugs, viruses or anything, I made sure of that! So you should be able to either disable it on your add ons or in "tools" or else tell it to let you come here, either way. Sure is weird though.

Remember a few decades before we all were born, the revival tent meetings, now days we have the Internet instead. Last summer I was driving to town and I saw over at an RV park that a preacher man had set up a tent and about twenty chairs and he was waiting for a few people to just show up and listen to him preach.I did not see even one person there. He looked like he was pacing back and forth holding a Bible and praying. Just noticing how with time some things like that change and are no more. I could not take my dogs to a dog park, well not the two that I have now, I can not trust them that they would not be unpredictable. One time I had Anna my black dog at an airport, I had just gotten out of the truck and had her on an extended leash, and she charged after a man just standing there and I was not expecting that! The leash stopped her about three feet away from the man, so now I always walk my dogs on a short leash. We told the man we were sorry, but I never want to put another person through that again, I would not ever want that to happen to me, and I have had dogs charge at me before that were not on a leash. I used to have a friendly dog, but he died from a stoke. My two dogs I have now are good security dogs. I have firefox working now, it was my mistake that it did not work for me before.

we've been up and at it since 6am...I did get a few minutes to talk with my Sister.... Sorry this is a long post, I'm making up for lost time.... The old church...when we first started there the pastor was a working pastor...which was something Ron and I respected about the man...but soon after people started leaving...one couple that had been there FOR YEARS left, Ron and I were new and just didn't want to partake in the gossip that was going around...churches are the worst place for gossip....I soon after joining took over the nursery...and for years didn't even get a chance to go to service cause nobody else would step up..once in a while some of the mom's would and I got to go to service but for the most part it was just me...Ron started a men's bible study, got ordained as a church Deacon, was head Deacon for some time, but then the pastor and his wife started with there little control things, like making the bible study day the same as a work day at church telling every one Ron would cook them breakfast?! but NOBODY would show up to help, and EXPECTED breakfast to be ready early, after working a 50+ hour week...again once in a while some of the members would show up, but for the most part, it was Ron or Ron and I.....then over time other things, with other people, more and more people started leaving, family's started leaving....and net picking on other things, like telling Matt to clean up his act, ie dress better, but when Matt called their grandson on wearing his hat into church, pastor made a big deal out of it from the pulpit, saying it's not how your dressed but what's in your heart....but it matter for Matt? then telling Ron he couldn't hug? a Philippine church joined ours, and some of the lady's felt uncomfortable with Ron's hugs? He'd been hugging people at this church FOR YEARS! instead of sticking up for one of his deacons that had been a member for years,he told him to side hug? all the while after we sat and watched others hug all over the place, and not from the side? Ron really struggled with that, he felt dirty, just before we left, that whole group of Philippine's left the church also, it was the Philippine pastors wife that witnessed what happened between the pastors grand sons and I, she didn't share his side of the story, so she was also asked to step down from teaching the kids, they ALL left, like 15 + people!.....Ron and I had talked about looking for another church off and on, just didn't like the way things were going...people leaving, the control the pastor and his wife started showing...all the while it was still just me in the nursery....then out of the blue one Sunday one of the other deacons called for an emergency meeting, to up pastor too full time salary...that deacon was Rick, the one that finely asked him to leave...any way, during this one of the elders Dale, asked Ron to read the by-laws, which he did, it was clear that this was an out of order meeting, and people needed time to think this decision over....but Rick asked for a vote to by pass the by-laws and vote now...which most voted for, myself, Ron and Dale and a few others apposed...that's when the pastor really started net-picking and trying to control us,the last straw for us is when he accused me of threatening his grandsons...after knowing me for 9 years, after all them years in the nursery? he older grandson made our Jazzy cry, he teased her to tears at church, there's a lot I could say about this young man, he was 13 at the time, and most members with young teenage daughters didn't want them NEAR this kid, he lied about a lot of people, and a few times him and I butt heads, but when he made my grand daughter cry? all I did was share a story on what I taught our Netty to do when she was teased, I ended the story with, so SHE could knock head off when she was teased in school, well that got turned into, *I want to knock your heads off* to the pastors grandsons, Pastor was there, he heard what I said, but the boys convinced him I detracted the remark toward them, that thursday after he called me in for a meeting, he told me what I supposedly said, I told him he was wrong, I told him what I said, and he said nope, the boys and I heard....., a few more words where exchanged, and I told him, what Ron and I had been feeling, I shared with him our view point, (what I shared above), and said, I was done, I was not coming back, ...then soon after the money games started...selling his house, and buying a new one, then selling that one, all the while getting housing allowance, pulse full time pay, and NOT putting in full time work...he was there only like twice a week....he ended up buying a house like an hour and a half away...using his wife as the reason, she was always sick...she had a lot of health problems...which we were paying for their insurance also.. then the deal with Verizon, and putting a cell phone tower in our parking lot...it looks like a giant pin tree! we as a church were getting so much a month for the cell tower being there...then they some how figured out a way to sell the rights, getting a huge amount of $$$$$$ and the pastor got a new motorcycle, and a raise...and slowly over all this time was getting the by-laws changed to fit his agenda....even had a lawyer friend of his helping him???? in the end, this guy was getting $1500 a week?!!! plus all the perks, and the church was running $3000 a month in the hole? Rick the deacon that finely started seeing what was happening, and he started calling the pastor out on the money games, pastor lied and lied and called us liars, and called other people liars, Rick started calling the other people that had left and found out their side of the storys, and it didn't fit the pastors story at all....Rick new our story, and he knows the grand son, and he didn't want his daughter near him! so he understood my anger at the kid for making my Jazzy cry! every one agreed I did or said nothing wrong.... well, all this led up to asking to vote at a church business meeting on Pastor's pay going back to part time and the pastor left in a huff, with his lawyer friend saying the meeting was out of order.....which led to pastor resigning....which made a lot of people happy, when they all found out about the money games, all of them were quite angry to say the least! that is the story of *the way* baptist church. Which is now with out a pastor, and has unity again....how sad....how wicked sad.... it took me more the 8 months to want to go back to a church of any kind! I was so done with people and so called pastors, so nice to your face and stab you in the back in a blink of an eye....I still refuse to *join * Voyage, but we are planted there, and not sure which way to go now...I'm waiting on the Lord, I trust He will guide Ron and I to where he wants us... welp, it's taken me a long time to write this all out, been to the store, helped Ron in the kitchen a few times, now I have to go get the sweet potatoes going....

Lulu, that's so sad about your experiences at the church. Hope you find a place that appreciates you and Ron more.
Much colder here and windy. Our son is here to install a new computer for hubby. His son came with him too so we took them out to lunch.
Going to our daughter's house for Thanksgiving. A friend sent me a recipe for Pumpkin Nut Crunch Cake and I'm bringing that plus deviled eggs.

Hi Lulu, good to read about your church and that you and Ron are waiting on the Lord to lead you, hope to read soon what that will be. After writing that much about the church, I would like to read what happens next. I am saying prayers.
Hi Margie, the cake you are baking sounds good.
Last Friday I bought 10 pounds of potatoes for only 77 cents. Yesterday I baked scallop potatoes and tomorrow I will do the same to cook up all the potatoes, and I will freeze the extra.

Good Morning everyone! I remember those Anna! Went to a few myself when I was very young. They still happen once in awhile here in the town I live in, or at least they used to. Haven't seen one in a long time though. Wish there was one, cause I'd sure go, even if no one else showed up!
That would have been scary! It's nice though to know that you take other people's feelings into consideration. I've known people with dogs that could care less about how others felt. Had one dog bite a little boy I babysat, thankfully not badly, but still, it scared him to death! The people kept saying their dog would never bite anyone, even after I showed them the bite on his leg! I couldn't believe it! Then of course they said he provoked it, but I'd been there with him the whole time and he'd done nothing and said nothing! I think the dog was playing with him (In his own dog mind anyway) and didn't mean to get as rough as he did, but it made me angry when the owners wouldn't take responsibility for what he did. I knew that if the dog had meant to hurt him, the bite would have been a LOT worse, but that wasn't really the point, the point was that the boy had been scared and the dog was running loose. Thankfully it didn't cause the boy to be afraid of dogs in general since he had his own dog which was also a German Shepherd. I think that's why it surprised him so much. Some people though, just don't take any time to train their dogs, like these people didn't.
we've been up and at it since 6am...I did get a few minutes to talk with my Sister.... Wow Lulu! That's amazing! I know it probably doesn't help much at the moment, but we know that the Lord is going to hold that man accountable for every word he spoke and every thing he ever did. And he will be held more accountable then most because he was in the position of a pastor and abused it. Boy, talk about spiritual abuse, this is a really classic case of it. Sounds so much like what went on at Mars Hill. (I think that was the name of it anyway - remember I posted about what happened there a long time ago?) I'm so glad you've found another church, and that this one is finally going in a better direction. Hopefully that will continue and they'll be able to be a light in this world again. Thanks so much for taking the time to write it all out. Part of what's sad about it all is that so many people don't seem to realize that things like that are wrong and are spiritual abuse. It's kind of like when a woman is abused by their husband and they just don't see it, and instead think it's their fault, so they stay. It happens the same way in churches with spiritual abuse. To me that's the saddest part of it, because often those people will wind up in another spiritually abusive church even if they leave the first one, just like the wife going back to the abusive husband. When people take time to tell their story, like you have, I always hope that people who are in a spiritually abusive church will read it and recognize the symptoms and maybe, just maybe, get out of that whole thing. Sounds like you'll have a good Thanksgiving Margie. I'm not sure who all will be at our house this year. Everyone's always welcome of course. So far both Michael and his wife and Christopher have said they'd come. Jenn is supposed to go to Maine this year, but there's a small chance they may wind up with us anyway, since Bob's parents are now sick and so are Elijah and Grace. As far as my other two kids go, I don't have a clue if they'll come or not. But no matter who's there, it will be a good day!Hi Lulu, good to read about your church and that you and Ron are waiting on the Lord to lead you, hope to read soon what that will be. Hope you all have a good day today. I posted some more great threads and I know Daniel has too, so check them out when you have time.

Wow, looks like no ones been in to chat in a couple of days! Must have been a busy time for everyone! I can't believe all I did yesterday. My body is certainly letting me know about it though. Looks like today will be a PJ day for me. But at least I can post, so that's good. The kids and their friend had a wonderful time here yesterday and I enjoyed having them of course. Now I'll just rest and enjoy the memories!
I hope everyone had a good weekend and that yesterday was a great start to a new week for you all too!
