Good morning all! I hope everyone is having a good day today. I've got a bunch more paperwork to do today, so I guess I'd better get to it. But for some weird reason my scanner stopped working, and makes a horrible sound when I try and make it scan something. I have no idea what's the problem is. I'm afraid we'll have to get a new one. Oh well, such is life. OH, OH, Cindy. Silly question, but did you try unplugging it and then plugging it back in? And is it a sheet feed scanner? If so, see if a piece of lint or paper got caught up in it. It's amazing what a speck of paper will do to a machine. It happens at work, all the time. I'm not sure what sheet feed means, but taken in context, I don't believe it is. You lift up the lid to put a piece of paper under it and then close it before scanning. But I'll look again and will try unplugging it etc again too. Thanks for the ideas! Hello Fresh Hope! I am no longer in the status of No computer> Just got it handled after 5 long years of using my phone to post. Praise The Lord for answered prayers I hope everyone has a Blessed day. That's wonderful Mark! I bet you're going to be having fun on it now!

LOL, sorry Cindy. I didn't know what else to call it. A sheet feed scanner is where you put the paper in and the scanner pulls it through as it's scanning, but what you described, is what I have and that's a flat-bed scanner. I like those much better. They don't eat the paper, lol.
But, the only time I had a problem with one, was my first one. It was a hewlett-packard and the scanning light burned out. It would have cost way more to replace it, than buying a new one, so we just bought a new one. Presently, I have an "all-in-one" and I used to love it. But, I haven't even plugged it in, since I moved. I haven't felt like it, but now I guess I'm going to have to, because of tax time. ugh! That means buying cartridges.

Oh, Ok. Yeah, I like this kind best too, for the same reason lol. Bruce has decided it's easier and faster to just buy a new one, especially since they're on sale right now, so I agree!
Yeah, good old tax time. I've got to do ours soon too. Need my scanner first though lol. Cheryl, I can't possibly thank you enough for the years you did our taxes for us! I don't know what I'd have done without you! Your help saved us so much the year Bruce's Dad died and still is because of that. I'd have never known to do what you did, much less how to do it! Thank you so very much!!! You're such a blessing to so many people. I hope they realize it; but even if they don't, the Lord knows, and He will reward you for all the ways you help so many!
I have been downloading programs all afternoon and evening. Everything is completed. Its awesome!! Getting a new computer is so much fun! Getting it all set up with the programs you want and everything! How exciting for you! Don't forget to install Malwarebytes right away so nothing happens to it! I'll give you the link in case you don't have it anymore: www.malwarebytes.com/ I get a kick out of the fact that people can get it for free and it's the program the pro's use to fix people's computers! Including "the Geek Squad" and others that are so well known. I called them once myself to find out about something different and got to talking to the guy and when he found out I had malwarebytes he told me that's what they use to fix other's computers, so that's how I know for sure about them. But I've also read about others who use it - not in testimonials, but in articles where they're explaining how they help people. What they don't say is how much they charge compared to being able to get this free or even if you buy the pro version, it's very inexpensive. Plus you only buy it once for a lifetime - not monthly or yearly like those other ones. I know it's saved my computer many times, even back when I had McAfee; McAfee didn't catch the bugs, but Malwarebytes did!
One of these days I hope to get a new computer too. Mine is still hanging in there, but it uses Windows XP which is completely obsolete these days.
Have a great day in the Lord everyone!

You still have XP, Cindy? You lucky girl! Mine bit the dust around 2015. If I'm remember correctly, we bought our computers right around the same time too. The motor quit on the computer. The hard drive was fine. Well, anyway, about Malwarebytes. They charge yearly for me. I pay $40 a year, for up to 3 computers. So, I can load it on my computer, Ed's computer and my notebook, if I want it back on my notebook, which I don't, lol because I don't use it for online anymore. And like you said, Malwarebytes saved my computer back in 2012. I got a nasty Trojan from playing a game on Facebook. (DON'T play those games!) This Trojan would give popups of porn, and the more you try to click them off, the worse they get. AND it disabled any virus protector you had on the system, including Malwarebytes. The only thing you could do was shut it down, immediately by unplugging it. Anyway, this same Trojan infected a colleague's computer, at work (for the same reason....she was playing a FB game, instead of working. ) The IT guy spent hours and hours on her computer, wiped it down to factory settings. She lost EVERYTHING on the company computer. He finally got it, I guess. But, when I got it, I went over to Ed's computer, downloaded Malwarebytes onto a thumb drive, and re-booted my computer, & immediately directed it to read the thumb drive, instead of the infected hard drive and Malwarebytes zapped that bugger in a matter of seconds. And that was the free version that did it.
I agree, Cindy! I love Malwarebytes!
Ok, I was going to write more, but I wrote this last night. Suddenly became sleepy and walked away from the computer. So, I guess I should submit this and come back later. LOL

Jess’s dad is not good, they found him to be brain dead, they believe he had a stroke some where along the time he’s been sedated, so Jess and Norms wife have made the decision to unplug life support.... now they need prayer to be fair and honest about the estate. It’s all wicked sad.....😢 Attachment DeletedThis is is at the door out back, flooded Attachment Deleted

I saw the video on FB. I hope the rain eases up for you & the excess water can drain away. Prayers for the Lord watch over you in this rainy weather you are having. Sorry to hear about Norm. In the Lord's hands I place all of these concerns for He is more than able to bring His good purpose through it all. Yes it is wicked & sad. I hate family disputes & greed. Placing it before our Heavenly Father, he is the best judge. Amen. This is is at the door out back, flooded

Praying for those doing their taxes, may the Lord guide you & give you all you need to get it done. Lord I ask for your provision for my friends in the US not just in terms of money but all their medical & other needs, Lord you know their lack, bring in what they need as they need it & give them peace as they Trust you for it, amen.
We have our Tax year end in the middle of the year 30 June. So we will have to do ours again in a few months time. Always a pleasure for us we get tax money back we earn so little & already have taxes taken out of some of our earnings at a higher rate (just the way it is). Meanwhile God has been good to get new renters into a property we share with my brother. Praise the Lord, we missed out on 6 weeks of rent & it hurt us financially. Really had to watch everything like a hawk & will still have to until our first rent comes in (two weeks time). God has enabled us to live on the smell of an oily rag so I can only be thankful for that. Looking forward to getting back on track financially. We have been really suffering the Summer heat down here. Surviving by the Grace of God. Had a cool change friday evening that has given us two wonderful cool nights for sleeping (catching up on the lack we have had since the start of this year). God is good. A bit warmer today but not heat wave conditions as it has been. January was really hot. Praise God Autumn is not far off.

I hope you enjoyed your lie-in LuLu. It's Monday morning for me, up early & had my cup of coffee. Another hot night but it was nice & cool this morning. Opened up the house to let all that cool air in. Heatwave conditions are over but it will still be hot just not totally unbearable.

Yeah, the free program that saved my computer a number of times too. As far as the paid version goes, which I now have, you can use it on one computer and never pay anything else again. It's only if you want to use it on more then one device that you have to pay for it. I just use the free version on my kindle and the laptop so we don't pay anything. The free version is just as good as the paid version for keeping it clear of viruses anyway. They know I'm using it on the other two devices and have told me I can buy the license to use the pro version on them too, but I don't want a yearly bill.
It's no fun to have the xp still. No one supports it anymore and many sites don't work for me because of that. We got a new scanner over the weekend and it won't work on my computer because of that, like most other things as well. I'm long overdue for a new computer. But I do feel blessed that at least I can use it for basic things like my bible study and coming here.

Speaking of weather, here on the Northern Oregon Coast...we have snow this morning. In the winter we usually get one to three days of snow...or none for the winter.
So today is our 1 st day of snow this winter....maybe 1/2 an inch....but we are so unused to snow, that they canceled school....LOL

I wonder if we will get snow in about two or three days when the cold weather front reaches us here. It seems like my electric bill has doubled now in the amount I have to pay for electricity. I have a propane stove I need to bring back into the home. I found a website this morning that Leigh told me about here years ago, time goes by so fast. I will probably spend hours today at that website, so much to read. It is chicken in the road, farm bell recipes. There is much more to read there than just recipes.

So today is our 1 st day of snow this winter....maybe 1/2 an inch....but we are so unused to snow, that they canceled school....LOL Believe it or not, they seem to be doing that even in the North East, like here. Well, maybe not for a half an inch but they have for just a few inches, which drives the adults crazy! At first I began to think my memory was wrong, because I could remember my kids getting on the bus for school on mornings when we'd had over a foot of snow. I finally asked the kids and they agreed though and reminded me of the many times they went to school when there was either lots of snow or ice or both. Well, the schools cancelled school again this past week and we only got about 8 inches of snow! Bruce was watching the morning news before going to work and heard that, and came in my room where I was studying my bible and told me about it. Then he proceeded to remind me of the time when he was a kid and they'd gotten 3 feet of snow and the buses ran! He said his dad didn't think the bus would be all that safe so he took them to school in the tractor. I can remember the snow being up to the windowsills of the house and the kids went to school. School wasn't even delayed much less canceled. Talking about it though, I suspect that what the schools are now worried about is being sued if something were to go wrong and there was an accident. Obviously, there could be an accident on even a good day, but if it were to happen on a snowy or icy day, there's a good chance they'd be sued, because that's the way people think these days. or at least a lot of them do. Others say it's happening because more people have moved here from out of state and don't know how to drive in the snow so they're scared their kids won't be safe and they complain to the schools. I suppose that's a possibility too. I wonder if we will get snow in about two or three days when the cold weather front reaches us here. It seems like my electric bill has doubled now in the amount I have to pay for electricity. I have a propane stove I need to bring back into the home. It is chicken in the road, farm bell recipes. There is much more to read there than just recipes. I don't know if you will, but they are saying that by the time it reaches us it will turn to a mix of snow, ice and rain. Fun. We still haven't gotten any real decent amounts of snow. It just doesn't seem like winter without it. Anoter raining ☔️ day.....but not cold,53 degrees. Some places are now seeing the flash floods with the mud.....😢. Tired, but I be here at work, in the car waiting to go in and punch in, get this day started! ❤️❤️❤️ Yep, it's 45 here right now. Big change for us from 20 below 0 to this, and tomorrow it's supposed to be up to 50! Ah well, the cats will enjoy being able to spend time on the porch. Hope your day goes well Lulu!

Boy, everyone sure is quiet lately! Today is a special day (but then they all are really!) because one of the ladies from church is having her baby today - on my birthday! It's ironic because Jenn told her weeks ago that it would be neat if her baby was born on my birthday, but the lady is being induced and was scheduled to have that done yesterday. However all the beds were full yesterday so they switched it to today! Plus, another lady from church is also due anytime and is scheduled for a possible c section on Sunday. I'm wondering if she'll go in labor today too!
It started raining here yesterday and still is, so we're getting all your rain. The temps are too high for it to be snow of course. People are grumbling about that
I let my cats watch a video on TV made for cats that was all about baby squirrels. They loved it! Chloe kept trying to touch them and of course couldn't, so then she'd go behind the TV to see if she could feel them that way. She's such a nut, but I have to admit, pretty smart too!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I had a wonderful day, though we celebrated with the kids yesterday. Jenn even made me a birthday cake, my favorite, which is spice cake with cream cheese icing! It was yummy! Gracie tried her hand at selling girl scout cookies while they were here and made out like a bandit! One of the guys we know, just adores children. His granddaughter often sits outside with him in good weather and they always smile, wave and shout hello to anyone who passes by lol. Well, he was so taken with Gracie that he started handing her quarters, just for her, not for the cookies. She told him she couldn't take them at first but he insisted so Jenn told her it was OK. When they got back here, she dumped them all out on the table and we all gasped! When we totaled them up, she'd been given $18 in quarters! Plus they bought 4 boxes of cookies!
Elijah has a new love now...downhill skiing! He loves it just as much as I did at his age. I'm so glad he got to be in the ski club this year and learn to ski. Gracie says she wants to learn to snowboard lol. We'll see. First we need more snow, but that's supposed to happen tomorrow. I'll believe it when I see it!

We have sunshine today after the rainy spell of the last few days. We saw all of our kids/grandkids this past weekend. My daughter and her kids came to Dallas for a friend's funeral. They stayed at our son's house. On Sunday she stopped by again to tell us goodby before driving back to Alabama. It was a busy weekend but lots of fun.

Hi everyone, checking in....God has been good to us for work and protection recently- praise God! What I also love is that He talks to us if we'll listen, and He talks to us through His word when we spend time in the Word.I also didnt realize complaining was sin.
By the way, i subscribe to a pretty heavy science blog here in Oz, the discussions have been the growing evidence of a coming mini ice age. Yup, it seems the global warming nonsense is just that. The Chinese have been developing plasma reactors to provide power and to handle a predicted 40 year cold period , possibly not as severe as the current northern winter, but colder than normal. The suns sunspots have gone quiet, the last time it went really quiet we had a Maunder Minimum where the Thames froze solid in London.
Take this as you will, but were planning on putting double glazing in our home soon and uprating our roof insulation in preparation.
Steve.

Good Morning, I need to run this by everyone and get your opinion on something that could be a good thing or not. I have been writing and composing, for the past 3 decades. As all of you are aware of that I was raised in Ohio. I recently submitted some of my work to various artists. Last night , I received a phone call from a local band, from my hometown, that has asked me to not only write for them but want to include me in a showcase coming up this May. Its a Spring/Summer tour. For the record, everyone in this band has played with Contemporary Christian Artist around the Midwest. The tour travels to major cities in Ohio, KY, TN. I have a month to make a decision on my next move. Shirley and my family will stand behind me no matter what I have decided to do. Please give me some feedback on what could be a new direction that I may need to follow. I have been doing some extra praying on this one. Thanks in advance for your input.

ha-ha Cindy you will believe it when you see it. Be sure to tell us 😋 if you get any or not Oh Yeah, we got some and it's still snowing today. We don't have a lot, but at least there's some snow. I'm sorry to hear about John being so sick. I sure hope he's getting better now. The square dance sounds like fun and is something I'd love to do! Hope you have a good day! We have sunshine today after the rainy spell of the last few days. We saw all of our kids/grandkids this past weekend. My daughter and her kids came to Dallas for a friend's funeral. Take this as you will, but were planning on putting double glazing in our home soon and uprating our roof insulation in preparation. Steve. I hope to be gone before something like that happens Steve! I'm glad you've been enjoying work and all lately. Yes, it's humbling when we realize that complaining is a sin against God. I know it blew my mind when I first realized it and even now I catch myself doing it, especially complaining about weather as that's just so "normal" these days. So I have to repent and start over again. But little by little I get better at it and don't complain as much as I used to. Even harder for me at times though is remembering that "grumbling" is the same as complaining, so even if I'm not literally complaining, if I'm grumbling about something it's the same thing. Then I have to repent once again and again start over. Some day I'll learn! But it's neat in a way because by realizing that, it helps me to remember that God is the one that's in control, not me, not the government, not other people, doctors, pastors, employers, etc. And that's a very good thing!Good Morning, I need to run this by everyone and get your opinion on something that could be a good thing or not. How wonderful for you Mark! I can't possibly answer about what you should do, as that's between you and the Lord. All I could do would be to suggest that you look to see what or who this would glorify and if it would glorify the Lord, then it would be a good thing and an opportunity the Lord has for you. He doesn't mind us being in the spotlight if it's bringing glory to Him. We just have to watch ourselves so we don't get caught up in the "fame" part.

Mark,I think what Cindy said was good advice. Who will get the glory.
I am sure you will want it to be God's, but other people can flatter our God given gifts so much we have to diligently struggle against pride.
