no storm, just them two thunders and one lighting...further inland they got it.... you all have a great day! another long one here.... Lulu, if it were possible, I'd send you some of our storms. It's getting to be a bit much, now. My yard and garden are loving the rain, but they really don't need "that" much. Apparently we got some hefty winds, last night. Our bird feeder's hook broke and was hanging where the shepherd hooks meets at the pole. The birds were happily hanging off of it, and still feeding from it, so I left it like that, until I got home today. Then I just dumped the remaining seed on the ground and brought it into the garage to repair it tomorrow. I was just too tired, to do it today, after the long drive to the VA in St. Louis. It's Canada Day! Best wishes and many hugs to our Canadian posters. Daniel, thank you so much for all you do to keep us informed. Doing laundry, made a small cake to snack on later. It's already too hot to be outside. Yum, cake. I bought a butter pecan flavored cake about a week ago, and there it still sits, on the counter, waiting for me to get it mixed and baked. I bought mini donuts that day too, so I didn't want to have too many sweets sitting around, because I will eat it all. I have NO will power, when it comes to sweets. This time I'm actually going to put frosting on it. I don't usually ice our cakes, but this is going to be cream cheese frosting. Normally I can't stand frosting, but cream cheese or whipping cream, I can do. BTW, for the record, I'm pretty proud of myself, because Ed ate most of the donuts. I actually bought them for him, anyway. LOLGood Morning all!
Thank you for the prayers! Yes, Jessie's the one with the baby. I'm afraid she's got a very hard life in front of her the way she's headed.
Lulu, I"m sorry, we must have gotten your storms. We've had thunderstorms since last night and it's continuing all day.
The weather's made everyone worse. I'm wheezing and so is Elijah. Angel was doing much better yesterday till this front moved in and now she's wheezing more too. Oh well, hopefully we'll all be better when it goes away.
Yeah, that's a great little feature isn't it Cheryl? It's saved me a number of times already!
As far as I know, Christopher's coming home for good this time. He's moving back home. I hope it will be good for him.
Oh, I'll tell you something to make you smile. Just as I was about to close my browser to turn off my computer yesterday, I noticed that I had a message on facebook from my son's wife. So I clicked on it and began talking to her as she's going through a hard time too and was quite upset. After awhile, all of a sudden my screen went blank and I couldn't see a thing! I was frantic because she had just replied to me just before it went blank and I didn't want her to think I was ignoring her. I tried everything to get it to work, but to no avail. So I frantically called Jenn to ask her to go on facebook and tell her what had happened, but Jenn wasn't home. I was at my wits end when all of a sudden it came to me: "You have a kindle dodo head! Use it!" I couldn't believe I'd forgotten that I could use it to talk to her on facebook!
Hope you all have a good day today! Don't work too hard! Funny you should mention "don't work too hard" Cindy. Because yesterday, when I got to work, I couldn't log onto the accounting program to do my job. I almost had to leave, but I found filing and reconciling statements, to fill some of my time. Then it dawned on me that I could use the sales computer to input my invoices, for the most part. I was surprised that it worked, since it runs off the server, and the server is the computer that I normally use. Anyway, apparently something went awry, the night before, with the internet and caused a command to malfunction. When the boss finally got there in the afternoon, he called tech support and got it fixed, and I was able to stay the whole day. Only had one grouping of invoices that I didn't have time to input, but that was no biggie. They'll still be there, next week. lol
I'm glad that your son is coming home to stay. I hope it's a happy homecoming and not a sad one, though. Meaning........I hope it's for a good reason.
Cindy, were you able to get your monitor to come back on? That is so frustrating when that happens. I've had a few go out on me. I even had one go out in the middle of a tax return for a client. LOL, he figured out the problem. For some reason the wire on the back was loose and he got the monitor to come back on. I should have given his return to him for free, but that wasn't my call. lol
I'm sorry that everyone is sick, and that Angel is wheezing again. I'm saying prayers for your healing right now! I added more prayer for Jonathan, and a safe travel home for Christopher. And I just added prayers for Jessica. It's Canada Day! Best wishes and many hugs to our Canadian posters. Daniel, thank you so much for all you do to keep us informed. Doing laundry, made a small cake to snack on later. It's already too hot to be outside. What kind of cake Margie? I want a piece of cake! In fact, seeing as how Lulu and Ron just had an anniversary, a celebration cake is in order! Morning everybody. I have the carpet cleaners coming over in a few minutes to clean the carpet in our bonus room (or the "FROG" as it's called here in SC -- "finished room over garage"). Unfortunately Thunder has had some accidents in that room and although I've done my best to clean it up, the carpet is light and the stains still show, so professional cleaning helps. Daniel helped me move most of the stuff out of that room, and we got it vacuumed and ready. That's what's happening here. "FROG", I've never heard that term before either. I hope the carpet guys can get the stains out for you. You mentioned in another post that Thunder wasn't there. Did Timothy take the dog with him to California? Leigh: " What kind of cake Margie? I want a piece of cake!" I always buy Jiffy Golden Yellow Cake Mix because it makes a small one-layer cake. The regular size of Betty Crocker cake mixes are just too large for the two of us. I add a shake of nutmeg or sometimes cinnamon. I can add small cans of drained fruit, pecans or about 1/2 cup of coconut. I like a slice with my morning coffee. Went to a funeral this morning for the husband of a friend in Sunday School. He was 95 years old and a veteran of WW II. One of the family momentoes displayed was the original Western Union telegram sent to his mother informing her that he had been in a plane crash in 1943. I had never seen an original Western Union telegram before. My daughter and her kids are coming over tomorrow. We'll go out to lunch wherever the kids want. Hugs to all. I've seen a telegram during the Vietnam era. That was a long time ago, and I was very young, but it was a telegram that my grandmother's neighbor had gotten. I remember seeing the word "stop" after each sentence. That's about all I remember about it though.
Margie, those variations sound really good, for cake. There's one thing I do, when I'm making a plain white cake. I like to melt some butter in the bottom of a 9x12 pan, and sprinkle brown sugar around in it, and then lay pineapple slices in it and pour the batter over that. My own version of pineapple upside down cake. Except I leave it upside down. LOL
Have a great time with the kids!!

I wonder how Eva from Greece is doing, as the economy of Greece is collapsing. Saying prayers for Eva.

Yes, Anna I was thinking/praying about Eva and the Greek economy too. Her island of Rhodes is a famous tourist attraction. There are ruins of the ancient city on one end. So, as long as the tourists keep coming for their holidays, she should be alright. Maybe. I hope.

I hope all is well with Eva also! Cheryl, you said: "FROG", I've never heard that term before either. I hope the carpet guys can get the stains out for you. You mentioned in another post that Thunder wasn't there. Did Timothy take the dog with him to California?
We had never heard the FROG acronym before we came to SC. When we moved here and were trying to find a house, we kept noticing in advertisements that many house descriptions would say something like, "has 3 bedrooms and a FROG," and figured THAT many people in Columbia couldn't have pet frogs at home! Anyway, the carpet came out great; we always use the same cleaning company and I've told them before that they are miracle workers! I have one of those little Pet Bot spot removers for pet stains, and it helps a lot, but still left stains; now the stains are barely noticeable. No, Thunder is still here with us. He would've loved to go to California with Timothy, but that wasn't even a consideration. Hope everyone is going to have a nice weekend and a happy 4th of July. Actually, it's already the 4th here! I found the most wonderful blog tonight, and some of you may already know about it: The Glamorous Housewife, about being a 'vintage' 50s housewife. I have always said I was born in the wrong era -- the 50s would've been such a great time to raise a family! theglamoroushousewife.com/about/Margie, your cake sounds good the way you doctor it up with spices and fruit. Yours too Cheryl. I made a banana cake today, out of my old Betty Crocker cookbook (and that was even before I found the Glamorous Housewife blog to inspire me!); didn't put icing on it as is called for, but did top it with a lemon glaze. Well, goodnight everyone!

Morning all! Just stopping in for a quick visit. Glad you were able to get that fixed Cheryl and able to find another way to do some work before hand too.
Eva's doing well. She said that many people were taking their money out of the bank, but she wasn't lol. She said her boss has been telling them not to worry and making sure they get paid no matter what. (You can read what she actually wrote in the bible study thread cause we also chat in there too lol - that link will take you to the post where she talks about that.)
I spent the last two hours trying to write a post for here and finally just gave up. I jut can't get the words to come out right today
I can't believe it, but Bruce's boss gave him a snowmobile! They're bringing it over here now.
Hope you all have a good day!

Have a blessed day today Cindy. A snowmobile gift in the middle of summer. Maybe it was last year model that did not sell but that is a nice gift to get. Bruce will like that and you can go for a fun ride on the snow mobile with him this winter. It's like a gift from the Lord, with a sense of humor.

Oh Cindy your post has caused me to enter a very reflective stat...
Good to see that you ok and that everyone seems to be thriving in your family.... I really sympathize with your childhood dream... such a situation sounds like the beginnings of the Christian Faith when because of antagonism and also of course because of the Holy Spirit... the disciples were content to dwell together as one family... but of course in today's world we become attached to the hailstorm of conflicting desires, responsibilities, and needs that seem to dominate our daily "modern" lives... At 2 points in my life, I tried to impel people to work together for the common good... And then later in business I tried to create some cohesive and organized behavior to benefit all ....No matter what though ...It is the human heart that seems to be the divisive factor... so much goodness is cast to the side because of empty desires like greed and power... Not just speaking of others here... myself included... But... now in these difficult times... we can feel that the growing desire is to live in holy community ...and of course we know that in the end the wild satanic beast of a heart is put away and the goodness that we so desire to embrace pours out over the world like water ..like living water.

Sorry to hear about your internet being out Mark, but I can certainly understand it. I hope you're able to get it back soon. I'm sure it's a pain to post from your phone. At least it is for me to try to do so from my kindle. But at least we can post enough to let others know we're ok! Thanks Mark!
I'm not sure which dream or post you're talking about Leonard but appreciate your remarks. Yes, it is the human heart that's the cause of all the strife and division, and sadly always will be until Jesus comes again and we all have our new bodies without the sin nature. That's why politics, laws etc will never bring peace in this world. Nothing can except for God Himself. So the only possible way to change the world is to change it one heart at a time bringing each person to Christ and then doing as the Lord said and discipling them. Sadly in our day and age the church seems to leave out the last part of the great commission. They're fine with telling people about Jesus and part of the gospel, but they don't finish the job. So we have a bunch of folks that are saved but still babies and remain that way, and still more that never heard the rest of the gospel and aren't even really saved, although many probably think they are. That's really scary! And today with tolerance being the key word, people are scared to death to tell others about the whole gospel....the part about obedience and knowing His Word so you can be obedient etc. and the cost of being saved such as persecution, strife in your family with members who don't believe, etc. I don't know if anyone's told you this before Leonard, but you have a wonderful way of writing! I think you'd make a great author of either articles or books!
I'm kind of excited now because I just finished Ezekiel again and the Lord pointed something more out to me concerning not having the sea in heaven/New Jerusalem. I wrote about it in the heaven post, so I added two short posts to that this morning. One about the sea as it seems to indicate that what I'd learned concerning it before was correct (I didn't post it because it made me look good, but because it once again shows the truth of God's Word and how knowing ALL of it leads to a fuller understanding, and how very awesome God is.
Then when I finally finished my study, I just had to share something Warren Wiersbe said about it all for us as it was the perfect ending to a thread about heaven! I just love how the Lord works!

Hi Lorrie. Heading out the door soon, to go to work. Paducah got flooded pretty bad yesterday, but work hasn't called me to not come in, so maybe they were spared. Had flash floods down one street, but I can't tell in the picture where it is at. But, one street got flooded pretty bad, and it's where I used to live, before we bought this house. And it flooded because the city won't clean out the sewer grates. And they are doing a bunch of street repairs in lower town, so the gutted out streets turned into a river. Something like 5 inches fell in an hour's time.

Morning Leigh! Not much. Just trying to get my bills taken care of. I got started yesterday, but that's about it. I also started doing something I've wanted to do for some time, but have never gotten around to. I got an empty notebook, and put my hubby's name on it and entitled it, "What you need to know." Then I started each page with different important information that he'd need if I wasn't around, like where his meds are, how to get them refilled and when to do that, where I keep the unpaid bills, and where the paid ones are, how to log onto our bank account online where I pay the bills, where to find our taxes, other important papers, and all kinds of stuff like that. More importantly, where my bible is and how to access the one on my computer if he wants to use that one instead etc. I figured he'd need it if I was ever in the hospital, or if I died. I'm not planning on doing either one, but I recently realized that he doesn't have a clue about all the things I take care of and would be lost if he didn't have something like that. The day I realized it, was when I'd just finished filling the container for his meds that week (it's one of those that has compartments for morning and evening meds for each day of the week) and I asked him if he knew where his meds were. I was shocked when he said no and decided then and there that he needed to know those things just in case! I showed him that right away, but knowing him, he probably forgot about it 5 minutes later I figure I'll just add more every day till I've covered everything I can think of for him. I'll write a lot of biblical stuff in it that I want to be sure he knows too. Then I'll have to figure out where to put it where he'll be able to find it easily, even if he doesn't remember for sure. Probably on his desk somewhere obvious lol.
This Saturday is Cassandra's graduation party and Joey's 8th grade graduation party, so we'll be going to that. It's an all day BBQ thing. Not sure how long we'll stay though.
Other then that, we just have to do the regular shopping and regular chores during the week as far as I know anyway.
How about everyone else?

Good Morning Anna!
That's neat that you can see pictures of them while they're there Margie. I never went to a summer camp and my kids never did either, well not for the most part. Jenn and one of my sons when to Bible camp for a weekend at different times, but that was it.
Looks like we've been deserted, most of the folks have been awol lately. I'm afraid I'm going to be today too as I've got a lot of chores around the house I need to get caught up on today.

Hi everyone - been sick the last couple of days; not sure what's going on. In fact I didn't even go to church last night, so you know if I skip church supper... a meal I don't have to cook... I'm feeling bad! Hi Catt, how are you doing? How's the weather up your way? Warm or cool? Hope you're feeling well. Hi Mark, sorry your internet is still not connecting; that is SO annoying, and it's hard to type on a phone - unless you can speak it in. I updated my cell phone recently and it has voice recognition, which I absolutely love. Although, sometimes the phone doesn't understand my Southern English. For example, I just sent John a text, part of which was supposed to say, "my plans are to go play practice, if I'm able." The phone typed it "my plans are to go to play practice, if I Mabel." The other day I tried to text him, "When are you heading back to Columbia?" which came out as "When are you heading back to Columbia question mark" I think it's so funny when it does things like that I usually send it on anyway (mostly just to John, not others). It makes all kinds of other mistakes which keep me laughing. Anyway, I hope you and Shirley are having a good week. Hi Anna, anything new going on with you? What projects are you involved with these days? Hi Dogstaff, are your grandchildren at a day camp, or are they staying away for the week? Really neat that you can see them online! Cindy, I never really wanted to go away to camp when I was little. The summer I was nine years old, I went to GA camp in the North Georgia mountains for a week. (GA's stands for "Girls in Action" - the Southern Baptist missions program for girls in grades 1-6, in case you didn't know.) Absolutely hated it and said I would never go back!! (And didn't!) My main reason for hating it was because the cabins & bathrooms were "filthy" by my nine year old standards. I remember indignantly telling my GA leader when I got back, "Those bathrooms were filthy and I didn't take a shower all week! (Thankfully we swam every day so I guess not showering didn't matter too much! ) Now I realize that the place was probably just a typical rustic, old mountain camp... and it's not as if I grew up in a fancy home, but my mother'd had me scrubbing the bathroom from a very young age so I guess I've always been a little persnickety about bathroom cleanliness! Anyway, Cindy that is great that you made the "What you need to know" notebook for Bruce. It will be so helpful for him to have all the info in one place, should he ever need it (but let's hope he doesn't!). I put together a similar notebook last year with household info in case something should happen to John and me both and my parents had to come in and take care of things. (We both pay the bills, but he does a little more. He enjoys it; I don't, but then I handle all the medical/insurance info.) You take such good care of Bruce, doing his meds and all. Sounds like you have a fun weekend ahead with the graduation parties for the grandchildren and the BBQ. I hope by now your son is out of the hospital (please forgive me, I forgot which son - I can only HOPE it is middle age and normal because I'm not remembering anything these days; it is alarming!). Did they ever figure out what was wrong? Cheryl, sorry to hear about the flash flooding in Paducah. Hope nobody was hurt. We had a bit of a flash flood in our neighborhood on Sunday evening; after some torrential rain I drove into the neighborhood and a couple of men were there warning people not to try and cross some standing water - and I guess it was the same thing you mentioned, a clogged drain. There was 4' of water in one part of the road and one car had already tried to cross it and stalled out, so I had to park the van and slog through somebody's yard to get home. Hope your weather has cleared and you're having a sunny day today. Bystillwater, I enjoyed your comments and insights from several days ago. Well... where are Kel, Lulu and Ruthanne lately? I hope all are doing well and am sure you're busy, but we do miss you here!

Hi Leigh and everyone. I have been just trying to stay as cool as possible, if it gets to warm in my home than I can't do much in the heat so I am on-line more, reading, praying or sleeping. I have tagged along with Ron some to Art's place, when I got to Art's barn I started to clean, it was so dirty, I haven't been invited back since that day I started cleaning, but I am always welcome to just tag along if I want to. We go over there because Ron has his ultra-light plane there. I go to a Christian chat room which is nice, there the chat scrolls by and we listen together to sermons or music. When I went to town a man kinda preached to me, seemed to be what I needed to hear, he talked about God and nature and certain foods to avoid eating. I can't keep up with the cleaning around the home that needs to be done, because I put everything else first before cleaning. So not much is new as far as what I am doing, not much as usual, but I am studying the word, and fellowship on-line so that is getting a lot done in that way. ttyl, love Anna

The rain is gone and we're back to hot weather.
Leigh: The grandkids go to a Christian camp in East Texas. My son and daughter went there when they were kids. The grandkids will be picked up on Saturday.
Too hot to work in the yard. I hand water some plants every day or they wilt. I mist the potted plants on the patio.

Margie, sorry the hot weather is back; I certainly understand how it feels not wanting to be outside. Anna, you too- with the hot weather there in AZ. Margie I hope your grandchildren are having a wonderful time at camp this week. Daniel is going next week with his youth group on a World Changer's mission trip, only to NC though. They'll be doing construction work. Anna, I meant to ask you (a couple of weeks back) if everything turned out okay with the dogs at Art's home, while he was out of town and you had to go over there. Since you didn't mention it, I guess all is well. That's funny that after you started cleaning you weren't invited back! You'd think he'd be grateful for the help! It's nice that you're having the on-line fellowship and Bible study. Do you ever listen to Thru the Bible with Dr. McGee? He's been teaching some very powerful lessons through the book of I John. I highly recommend it! www.ttb.org.

Rejoice in the LORD - by Ron Hamilton
God never moves without purpose or plan When trying His servant and molding a man. Give thanks to the LORD though your testing seems long; In darkness He giveth a song.
Chorus O Rejoice in the LORD He makes no mistake, He knoweth the end of each path that I take, For when I am tried And purified, I shall come forth as gold.
I could not see through the shadows ahead; So I looked at the cross of my Savior instead. I bowed to the will of the Master that day; Then peace came and tears fled away.
Now I can see testing comes from above; God strengthens His children and purges in love. My Father knows best, and I trust in His care; Through purging more fruit I will bear.
