Yes Leigh, I also am starting to see things going on in the world around me that is evil.
Cindy good news about your two sons, are they going to be living in the area around where you live? I hope you and Bruce have fun this weekend with your granddaughter. I know you will, you always do. I don't know what a fun store is that you said you will take Gracie to.
God bless everyone here, Anna

God bless everyone here, Anna Yes, all my children now live fairly near me. Most of them are now living in Peterborough which is just 20 minutes away but Jonathan lives in another town that's 45 minutes away. He comes to Peterborough regularly though.
I'm trying to get ready for our day with Gracie now. Bruce has already left to go get her, so I've got to get busy.
Have a great day everyone!

I know you'll do great Lorrie!
Yesterday was a wonderful day! Gracie was a darling! And the Lord made it a very special day for us all! We took Gracie to a pizza place for lunch as that's where she wanted to go. Then we ran to Walmart and did some quick grocery shopping. After that we went across the street to Tractor Supply so she could see what was in the store. That's where the Lord intervened. When we pulled in, there were horses there! And not just any horse either! They're the Newfoundland Ponies. Here's some information about them:
"This beautiful heritage animal is now in danger of becoming extinct. Newfoundland Pony Sanctuary and Education Center for critically endangered Newfoundland Ponies, a distinct breed heritage landrace pony whose numbers total approximately 250 worldwide. Of those only 34 ponies live in the USA."
And all but 10 of them are here in New Ipswich! Gracie go to pet them which was wonderful and we found out they're located not only in New Ipswich, but just up the street from us! They said if we'd give them a call, we could bring the kids over any time!
Besides the beautiful horses there were miniature goats, miniature horses, & an angora rabbit. When we went into the store, Gracie got another surprise because there were horses in the store too! There was also a beautiful doberman that Gracie thought was a horse at first! So we all got in lots of time petting all the animals and talking to them! We didn't have our camera, but they had some pictures so I swiped them for you:
After all that, all I wanted to do was rest LOL But after yet another snack, Gracie wanted to work in the garden. I let her water it and she picked strawberries and ate them, and I was hoping she'd find enough to keep her busy, but she wanted me to go out with her eventually so we could work it together. Well you know I can't say no to my grandkids LOL, so out I went. I have to say, we got more done then I believed possible! Gracie is one hard worker! I had to laugh though, because I pulled out one of the stalks from the Hosta that had dried up. It was really long and I was about to toss it on the weed pile when Gracie saw it. She immediately grabbed it and proclaimed that it was a dinosaur bone! I did good though, and didn't laugh... I asked her what kind of bone it was and she said it had to be a tyrannosaurus rex because it was so big! After running in to show it to Grandpa, she came out and announced that she was really surprised that we'd found one in our garden, because she thought they were mostly in Virgina and West Virgina! (By the way, Bruce was doing what I'd wanted to do and just resting!) It was right about then that Jenn and Bob showed up. They stayed and visited awhile, which was my good excuse to quit. It was a good thing too because if it had been any later, I probably wouldn't have been able to walk at all anymore.
Elijah should be home from his camping trip by now. It was the perfect weekend for it too! He should soon be finding out that Grandpa's tent now belongs to him, so we can't wait to hear from him about his camp out!
Well, I'd better get going. Have a lot of resting to do today after all!

Glad to hear your foot is doing better, Leigh.
I was at my son's house on Saturday and then we went to the Perot Museum in Dallas. We've been twice before. It's a great museum for the kids. Lots for them to do "hands-on." Not just exhibits to look at.
Hubby went to Oklahoma City this past weekend for his 55th High School reunion. He had a good time but the 3 hour drive home wore him out. Of course he got home in time to watch the Dallas Cowboys on TV.

Wow, 55th reunion! that's amazing! It must have been really enjoyable to see everyone again too. And a great way for him to just relax when he got home!
I love places like the museum you went to. They're so neat!
Michael and Chris came by for a surprise visit yesterday, so we got to enjoy their company for awhile. And Elijah called shortly after I finished posting in this thread yesterday to tell me about his camping trip.Sounds like he had a great time. Bruce wasn't home when he called, so he called back later to tell him about it and thank him for the tent. He's such a blessing! It's really been wonderful to be able to see my boys more too. God is so good!

That is cute Cindy how Gracie said that a stalk of a Hosta plant was a dinosaur bone, what an imagination children have. Leigh, that is good that you talked to Ruthanne. I wish more people where here to chat. Sevenof nine has not posted for awhile. Well it will be raining here for two days, so I will be indoors and reading. God bless, Anna

Glad you liked them Lulu, I thought Kel might like them since she loves horses so much too. Wow, it is hot where you are still! It's gotten downright cold here. We skipped spring and went from a freezing winter to a hot summer practically overnight this year, and now it looks like we're going to skip fall and go straight into a cold winter again. The days have been nice although a bit chilly in the low 60's, and the nights have been just plain cold in the 40's. It's after noon now and is only 62.
That's nice that you're taking the day off though. I'm glad you were able to. It sounds like you must have needed the sleep anyway.
Staying in and reading is something I love to do any time Anna! Enjoy!
I'm kind of out of it today, so not up to doing much. I'll go see what others are saying on other threads now.

Hi y'all. I started reading a novel and it has really drawn me in; pretty much for the last two days all I've done is stayed glued to that book. (John's been out of town so I was able to do that without too much guilt!) That's why I don't read many books, because once begun, I can't do anything else til it is completed. I can tell I'm getting older though because my eyes feel strained from all the reading, which didn't use to bother me. Cindy, thank you for telling us about your day with Gracie, and for showing us the photos!! So cute about the Hosta being a T-rex bone!! And how special that she got to see the ponies and pet all the animals! Our Tractor Supply has baby chicks at Easter, but I've never seen any other animals there. Of course, they might... Tractor Supply isn't really a place I hang out anyway (I mean, we don't even own a tractor ), but the boys used to love going there when they were younger. Lulu, glad to hear you got a day off! You deserve it!! Hope you were able to get lots of things accomplished. Margie, sounds like fun going to the Perot Museum with the grands! We love museums! Also glad your hubby got to go to his class reunion; you didn't want to go also? Anna, how is your week going? Have you been doing any interesting kitchen or home projects lately? Cindy, thank you for the update on your boys; so happy you are getting to spend some time with them and see them for yourself. I know that means a lot to you. Well, Daniel came home from school awhile ago and fell asleep, but asked me to wake him at 5:15, which is now. He has a lot of homework to do, then he has to work at Chick Fil-A tonight until close, so it will be another late night for him. He worked last night, then when he got home, realized he'd left his Algebra book at school so he couldn't complete his homework. He left the house at 7:00 this morning to get to school an hour early and do his homework. He's burning the candle at both ends.

Cindy it sounds like your lil' granddaughter is going to become a world famous Dino hunter... LOL... those small horses are exquisite... My cousin Tom is very involved in promoting tiny horses that they use for therapy animals in the hospital...... I like these Newfoundland horses better though ...esthetically ...because while small they still look like real horses..

I'm glad you all enjoyed the pictures and story of our day.
It does sound like he's burning the candle at both ends Lorrie, but then I guess most teens seem to do that.
I'm the same way when I read and always have been so I had to learn at a very young age to force myself to put the book down, or else my mom wouldn't let me read anymore. But I'm also guilty of being one of those kids who used to hide the book I was reading in my school book so that it would look like I was studying when in fact I was reading for pleasure LOL. I'd do it in school too and only got caught once. The other problem I have is that I tend to be read very fast, as I learned to speed read. That's ok, but I hated it because it made the books end way too soon LOL, so I then had to force myself to slow down. It took awhile but I finally got to where I was reading at a good pace, not super fast anymore and could enjoy the books more that way. Even now though I have to give myself a time limit and only allow myself to read for a couple of hours a day. If I didn't, I'd go through a book every single day, and that would be ridiculous, not to mention costing too much to support such a habit. That's also why I trained myself not to remember my books. Obviously I remember what happened in them right after I finish, but then I purposely force myself to forget and focus on other things so that I can read the book again in another year or two and enjoy it all over again. That way I can re-read the books in my library every few years and not have to constantly buy new ones. I do still buy new ones, just not all the time. I tend to read all the books I already have at least once every 2 years and slip new books in as I'm going along so there's always something new to read as well.
That's a great use of the miniature horses Leonard. I've seen them used for that as well. The Newfoundland horses are actually quite large, as large as the regular ones if not bigger. They did have miniature horses there as well, but those weren't the Newfoundland ones. The miniature horses barely come up to the belly of a Newfoundland horse.
Well, I'd better get going. Have to work on the bills and the garden today, whether I want to or not.

Been feeling grateful lately!! ...Barbara's garden always makes me think of Eden... and because we are both artists I am grateful indeed that I can even get a glimpse of the beauty that God filled the world with ...how wonderful the Garden must have been before sin... I am so enjoying working with the 3D Shapeways web site... designing jewelry... tomorrow will be getting an inexpensive graphics tablet... and I hope to design even more interesting items then... Barbara has commission to do a painting of a little dog... when Creativity flows we are both grateful.. Thank you Father!! We would love to see pictures of Barbara's garden, as well as the jewelry you're designing, if you would ever like to post them! Hello everyone... haven't posted in chat at all this week. I've been a little down lately and it must be for the same reasons Lulu gave... so much going on in the world and also here around me... it's a spiritual battle. BUT - good news, I've just talked to Ruthanne this morning!! We had a nice conversation and she said to tell you all hello and asks you to pray for her. She has a hard time sitting at the computer to read and post, but she does think about and miss everyone here. She mentioned you all by name. Here is an update on her family: Larry does not feel well and won't discuss his health; he has trouble breathing to talk anyway, so he doesn't say much at all. Ruthanne tries to make life pleasant for him. Christian is 17 now and got a car and therefore thinks he's independent! Tyler is 12; he stays with them on weekends, and Grandma tries to make him eat. His school is near her house, so he also comes over after basketball practice. Can you believe that little Levi is ONE year old today?! He is running and walking and knows his Grandma's voice! They're having a family party for him on Sunday, so that will be fun. Please keep Ruthanne and all of them in your prayers. Well, I went back to the ortho this week for a four week follow-up on my foot; it has healed, not totally, but is much better so I don't need to go back to him unless I want to. (I don't want to, therefore don't plan to. ) I broke my foot on the retreat for the Baptist ladies choir I'm in. Tomorrow we have our first concert of the school year, so it will be fun to see everyone again. They have been so kind--sending emails, get-well cards, and even flowers, since my accident happened with them. Cindy, you asked me a question here on chat that I read and then forgot to answer, but will answer it now. You said, "Didn't something else happen last year on your retreat with that group??" You have a great memory because YES -- the first day of the retreat last year was also the FATEFUL day I found the snake curled up inside the foyer of my house!!!!! I had awakened with pretty significant back pain that day and could barely move, but upon seeing the snake the sudden movement of jerking around, running for my life to the kitchen and leaping on top of the table apparently cured it. (I'm sure you heard my terrified screams all the way to the other three corners of the U.S. -- Cindy in the NE, Kel in the NW, and Lulu & Anna in the SW!! ) If I stay in the group next year, I'm going to be EXTRA careful on & around the time of that retreat! Leigh, you are so funny! I'm sorry you got hurt. So good to hear news from Ruthanne. I understand about pain from desk top computer tho'.

Thanks Cindy... 3d printing allows you to make complex things... fairly easily... so that's good... it also requires a different skill set than a traditional jeweler might have.. In my case that works for me... I was never that great at carving waxes... LOL... Hope you are feeling better now... hope the Doc can help a little...

Mornings are cooler here. I've just been busy with projects.
Hope everyone is doing good. Hugs.

Hi everyone! Thanks Leonard. I've been trying to get some of the garden work done and guess I hurt myself some and then yesterday really hurt myself. Now I can't even turn my head or move at all without a lot of pain, so that's why I haven't been here much. I haven't done anything at all hardly...I just can't until I start to heal up again.
It's been cooler here too Margie. You're so blessed that your grandchildren come over to help you. That's wonderful! Gracie and Elijah often help me, but they're still a little young to be a real big help. They sure do try though.
I thought I'd share what our weather's doing here, because I can hardly believe it myself. I'm just going to post the day with it's high and low temp so you can see how weird it is, starting with day before yesterdays: Saturday...... 61/33 Sunday..........71/47 Monday.........76/60 Tuesday........78/52 Wednesday... 57/36 Thursday.......49/34 Friday............49/38 Saturday........59/34 Sunday...........57/40 Our average temps for this time of year are usually a high of 68 & a low of 47,so as you can see, it's a bit colder then normal for us. And the above is pretty much how it's been the past week or so too.
My doctor is going to request an adjustable bed for me from my insurance company. But I still have to do some research first so we can try and have everything they need in his note. It's really silly that they make you do it this way. They won't just come out and tell you or the doctor what the doctor has to put on the RX for it, instead they're very vague, so that when the doc sends in the RX, they can send it back, saying it's missing such and such. So the doc fixes that and sends it in again, at which point they tell him about something else that's wrong, or needs to be added etc and they keep doing that as long as they can to postpone it. Talk about petty! You'd think they wouldn't want to be known as the insurance company that plays the most mind games, makes the most demands of doctors and patients, and does as little as humanly possible. Sadly, that's exactly how my insurance company is perceived. I found that out years ago when several different doctors informed me that they were the very worst insurance company of all for doctors and hospitals to go through. Yet their commercials always say they're the ones who "care" and are "responsible". Oh well. Anyway, that's why I'm doing research, so that hopefully I can find out exactly what needs to be on the RX and my doc won't have to jump through quite so many hoops for them.

Well, I'm never going to do that again, that's for sure! I hurt both my back and neck trying to work on the garden lately and yesterday I was in a lot of pain. So I decided that it would be better for me to lay down flat on my bed when I went to sleep last night, thinking it would give my neck more stability that way. (I normally sleep sitting up) I knew that my back would hurt a lot more if I did, but I figured I could deal with it. After all, I dealt with it every single day for almost 15 years before I discovered I could sleep without the pain earlier this year. Well, I've gotta tell you, it's amazing how quickly we really do forget just how bad our pain was! I woke up at 2am in such excruciating pain that I couldn't bear it. I couldn't get up at first and when I finally did, I found out that the pain was so bad that I couldn't even stand up. Thankfully I never put my walker away even though I haven't needed it since I started sleeping sitting up,as that's what I used to use when I woke up; so I was able to grab hold of that and avoid falling. (I used to keep it right next to my bed for that purpose, but it was further away this time making it hard to reach) Anyway, it took awhile because it was hard to even move the walker even though it's on rollers, but I finally made it around to the other side of my bed where my desk is as was able to grab my morphine. An hour later, the pain was still horrible so I had to take another dose and wait for it to work before I was able to go back to bed again. Only this time, I went back to sleep sitting up!
I'm amazed that I had to deal with that pain for as long as I did. I remember now how I used to dread going to bed at night because I knew what I'd wake up to. Some nights, crying myself to sleep because of it. I'd forgotten about that too. But what it really showed me was how much the Lord helped me during all those years. I know I couldn't have handled it without Him. I'm so very thankful for His help all during those years, and for giving me the idea and skill to make myself a contraption (as my doctor calls it ) so that I can sleep sitting up. I'm still having to deal with the pain from the way I slept. I know from experience that it's going to take till tomorrow to get over it. Although, come to think of it, it might take longer this time because my body isn't used to it anymore. I don't care though, I'm just thrilled that I don't have to deal with this pain daily anymore, and amazed that I ever did and lived to tell about it.

That is great -- I hope you can show us a photo of it, at some point! Glad to see you back Kel. Dropping in to say hi and apologize for not posting recently. Thought I was doing better with headaches, not having them as much, but I woke up with one on Monday and have been fighting it off and on all week. (And that's what I feel like doing...) I saw this morning on FB that Catt's father passed away last night -- for those of you who might have missed it. Catt, our love and prayers for you during this sad time.

I feel a bit like I am walking around in the dark. So I do need your prayers. Thank you. Cindy, I hope you can get that new bed soon. It is really amazing how much it helps you to sleep sitting up. That night you slept on the flat bed was the acid test. It proves just how necessary that adjustable bed is. Next time, leave the tests to the specialists and stay away from them.

Hi everyone! Good to see you all! Anna, what's funny is that I was born in Tucson and lived there till I was about 9, then moved back there when I got pregnant with Jennifer and stayed there till she was able to leave the hospital and come home.
I'm sorry for your loss Catt, and will continue to pray for you hon. Call me if there's anything I can do or if you just want to talk ok?
Yeah, I don't think I'll ever be doing that again, that's for sure LOL
I'm so sorry to hear you've been fighting a headache all week Lorrie. I'm praying and hope you'll feel much better very soon!
That's great that Barbara's doing a picture for you Kel! I hope we'll get to see it too!
I've really been wanting to go riding again lately Steve. I really miss it. Horses are yet another thing I'm looking forward to heaven for!
I've got to make some phone calls about the bed so my doc can order it. Should have done it Monday, but haven't been up to it till now. But now I can't put it off any longer. So I guess I'd better get busy.
Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning everyone. Praise the Lord. I've learned an interesting fact about the name of Hurricane 'Joaquin'.

That is interesting Daniel! I had no idea about the meaning of Joaquin.
Speaking of Joaquin, it is missing us here in SC, however we still have to deal with flash flood watches and river flood warnings all weekend. We had a family reunion planned today up in Spartanburg, but decided to reschedule due to the extreme weather conditions.
