It's been very very hot here. It was 97 yesterday and the high today is 105. The next few days highs are 103, 105, and then finally 100 and then down to 98 and then finally, (I hope) back to normal! I can't wait for that day to get here! In the mean time, the kids and grandkids are spending their time in the water, either local ponds, lakes, the ocean or swimming pools lol. Best place for them, at least for those who don't have to work.
Bruce has been doing better every day, always doing a little more than the day before. He's been driving for awhile now, and is slowly regaining his strength. He says his only real pain is from his hip, though I notice his upper arm bothers him now and then too. He goes back to work tomorrow! I sure wish it wasn't going to be so hot his first week back, but there's nothing I can do about that, so I leave it in our Lord's hands and just pray. I sure hope Bruce will be able to handle being at work, and will be able to stay for the full 8 hours each day. I don't know what we'll do if he can't, but then the Lord does, so again, it's nothing I need to worry about. (I just have to keep reminding myself that I'm the child, and not the one that has to figure everything out) I'm just so glad we have a Father that cares so much about us!
Cheryl, I laughed when I read what you did! At first I thought you were going to say it was bad, so wasn't expecting it when you said it was a cucumber!
I sure miss being here on the days when I'm not able to, due to paper work, chores, company or whatever. I hope you all know that. I'd be here all the time if I could....
Speaking of paperwork, I did find some possible help for our house taxes. Not sure what it will do for us but I know we qualify for 100% help. Strangely enough it's not because of Bruce's accident, but because I'm disabled and because of our income. We could have had this help all along! I won't know for quite awhile though just what it will amount to though, as they have 120 days to work on it. There's another one I can apply for too, but I can't apply for it until next year. Oh well, if nothing else this will hopefully buy us time as I had to use our the money I'd save to pay the taxes in order to pay our bills. Again, reminding myself that God is fully aware of this problem too! Why is it we're so ready to take on these burdens by ourselves and seem to hate giving them up to the Lord???? That's just crazy when you think about it!
Lulu, I'm praying for Angie, but wanted to ask about her family. You said something about them that made me concerned for them as well, although I can't recall exactly what you said. Normally I'd pray for their encouragement, strength, etc anyway, but what you said made me think they needed a lot more than that.... I don't need to know the specifics, but it would help to know what they need prayer for if you could tell me that, ok?
I hope you all have a great week! Stay cool! I'm sure going to try to!

It actually made it up to 107 before it was done yesterday! Even with all three AC's on all day it never got below 78 in the house. But thankfully, it had fallen down to the high 80's by bedtime. I'm looking forward to July 6th when the high is finally supposed to be below 100. We've never had this long of a hot spell in NH as long as I've lived here, which is over 30 years now. I remember the last time it made 100 was when we took Elijah to see Thomas the Train, and the time before that when it was 104 was in 1994 on the day Michelle graduated from High School! No way we'll ever forget that day LOL.
Well I hope your weather doesn't get so hot Lulu and that you have a great day today!
Love you guys!

Hope everyone is doing well! Thank you for your prayers. Bruce made it until 2pm at work yesterday! He normally works from 7 to 3:30, so only missed an hour and a half. He's back at it today again and will hopefully do well. thankfully, he has tomorrow off as it's the 4th, so that will give him the perfect break to recuperate for his first week back before going back for the last two days. So thank you for all your prayers and I would ask that you would continue to pray whenever the Lord brings him to your mind, as I know this is hard for him. He was hurting and worn out when he got home yesterday, and had to take something for the pain, and then wound up taking an unplanned nap. But he felt better when he woke up. I was pretty out of it myself this morning, so we didn't talk much, but he didn't seem as chipper this morning as he was yesterday. For some reason, this weather is causing my pain level to go up a lot. I was really surprised the first day, and checked the weather to find that the pressure was way up - like it gets during a super bad storm, and it's continued to stay that way. So I guess that's what's causing the extra pain, though I have no idea why it does. I just hope it's not doing the same thing to Bruce.
Have a great day everyone!

Nice to see the pictures Lulu, glad someone posts pictures, I never take pictures. You look like a hippie girl in that first picture. Everyone looks happy and blessed. Puddles on the path, yes that was this week; correction from the Lord. Which I was praying about and pastor Scott knew, though I did not say anything and he prayed for me and read scriptures just for me, I was touched in my heart.

I can't even imagine trying to work when it is 107 Cindy!!!!!!!!
We are going to be in the toasty warm upper 60's for the next week...which is what it has been right along this summer so far....works for me.
That Bruce could even go to work at all in that heat, after what he has been thru...amazing!!!!
Today I go to see my Primary care doc. I 'think' I might be adding rheumatoid arthritis to my loooong loooong list of ailments.... we shall see what he thinks.
But I was looking at some of the side effects of some of the meds for rheumatoid arthritis......that would slow the deformity of that arthritis ( added to my 'normal' arthritis)
and it mentioned a potential problem, if
a person has a persistent cough and or any lung issue
( I do have such a cough due to having Bronchiectasis a lung problem)
So hopefully that won't really be an issue....
but I guess first things first....
do I really have the start of rheumatoid arthritis or not..... it sure seems possible.....
fingers starting to curve, pain in joints ( different that the usual arthritis pain), bump at finger joint, super tired etc.

Barbara, remmeber, I've told you a number of times that I have the same cough and symptoms and so does Bruce. It's caused by the RA. Don't worry about things like that at this point. I'd be amazed if you were diagnosed so easily as most folks aren't. (though it does happen) and I'd be amazed if your doctor even understood RA correctly, again, as most doctors don't. In fact, it seems like the more they insist they do, the less they actually understand and know. Anyway, don't worry about drug side effects when nothing has even been prescribed to you yet. I will say that many doctors will prescribe prednisone to help you until the RA drugs kick in, although the Mayo Clinic is advising them to be more careful about that and not keep people on it for years like they have been. Then, the next most likely med they prescribe specifically for RA is methotrexate (MTX). I've taken it and would still be on it if I could be, but can't right now. If God somehow gets you diagnosed and you are prescribed MTX I suggest you get it for injections and self administer it because it's very very inexpensive that way and the shots are very easy to give yourself and don't hurt at all. But that's jumping way ahead of things and is doubtful it will happen anytime soon.
I wanted to share this with you all to give you more peace and hope! fresh-hope.com/thread/4295/different-days-noah

Hi I hope you all are doing OK keeping cool this summer. I am doing OK, sometimes I keep my hair wet to stay cooler. I like what you wrote Cindy about different days noah. I wish I could write as eloquently as you do. So true the need now days as we are constantly at war with principalities and sometimes I felt like it was a lot of fighting within, but I was given scripture from the Lord that changed that so I don't have to fight alone, when now in prayer I put Jesus as my partner, helper, I can feel the battle feeling go away. Lately I have been sitting outdoors at sunset and FH members come to my mind and I say a prayer for them and their families.

So he did 3 tests which apparently show no rheumatoid arthritis He said when I visited the bump on finger is Osteo but the curving???
Labs are negative for rheumatoid arthritis:
1) ESR 34 mm/hr ( my value) 0 - 30 mm/hr ( standard)
2) Cyclic Citrullin Peptide Ab <4.6 ( my value) <=19.9 ( standard)
Reference Interval: Cyclic Citrullinated Peptide Ab, IgG
<20.0 CU Negative 20.0 CU or Greater Positive
3) RHEUMATOID FACTOR <10 IU/mL (my value) 0 - 14 IU/mL (standard)
RHEUMATOID FACTOR <10 IU/mL 0 - 14 IU/mL
I am not exactly sure what the tests are saying, other than it looks Like I don't even come close....
but I do have a bump and 2 fingers...the index and middle finger of each hand are starting to curve....not major....but still a deviation from the little and ring fingers which are straight.....
But the bump is new and apparently is arthritis related but osteo not rheumatoid.

Good morning, dear sweet Fresh-Hope friends! Hope everyone has had a nice, reasonably cool weekend considering it's July!
Cindy, those high temps seem incredible for as far north as you are. Hot as it's been here, we haven't gotten that high yet. John took vacation days last Monday & Tuesday and we went up to Blowing Rock, NC, where it was about 25 degrees cooler than Columbia, so we got a brief respite and it was wonderful. He wants to retire there so badly. He wants to retire, period, but with Daniel starting his 2nd year of college it will be several more years before he can.
After Blowing Rock we went on to Charlotte and waited there for Daniel's flight home from Alaska on July 4th. What a happy day that was. I appreciate the prayers for his trip. He had a wonderful time, saw some breath-taking sights, and grew in his walk with the Lord. The first week the team did wilderness activities, including a dangerous hike up the side of a rocky mountain (thankfully I didn't know about this beforehand or would've been worried sick-ER than I already was) and training for the following week.
The second week they served at Tanalian Bible Camp and although Daniel was hoping to be assigned as camp counselor to a group of boys, he ended up being part of a demolition crew at a home there. He said he was disappointed initially, then he realized that God put him there for a reason and was fine with it. Considering that last summer he worked for a local home builder, he had the right skills for this assignment. He still got to spend some time with the camp kids, plus he played the guitar and helped lead worship times, so he loved that.
I shared a few of his gorgeous Alaska photos on Facebook but have not been able to post photos here in a long time. (Although I haven't tried recently -- does it still have to be done thru Photobucket? Last time I did try, it didn't work.) I would love to be able to post a few here though.
Lulu, I loved all your wedding pics!
Well today is my day off then I'm back to work for Tues-Wed. Need to get up and make hay while the sun shines.
Hope you all have a blessed week ahead!

I went shopping yesterday. I was able to buy some fabric for making two jumper dresses. Lucky for me a man from the toy dept. was willing to go to the fabric area to cut and price the fabric because there was no one else around to do that. Finally, my books have shipped from FirstLove Publication. It feels like it has been a two-month wait. I was cooking the other day in the kitchen when I also listened to Israel news and I heard an interview from a man talking about Chrones disease and said they are getting on the market a new antibiotic for that, the abbreviated name for the antibiotic is Matt. I don't know how to post pictures on this forum, there is another forum that I go to and I can easily post pictures there. I don't think my finger is going to stop hurting from where that thorn went into my finger, so it hurts everytime I use it for typing. Good day everyone.

Guess what? They found another fracture on the new xrays they did on Bruce! At least that area being swollen makes more sense now. Physical therapy even called already and has him set up for twice a week through the end of August. He wasn't able to work yesterday or today, but after talking to his boss is going to start trying to go in a little later than they normally do. That will give him more time to get the pain under control in the mornings.Hi I hope you all are doing OK keeping cool this summer. I am doing OK, sometimes I keep my hair wet to stay cooler. Lately I have been sitting outdoors at sunset and FH members come to my mind and I say a prayer for them and their families. I'm glad you liked it Marlene. Yes, there's a constant battle going on for individuals and especially for the Church and for the family unit. Actually for each thing that the Lord put in place to protect us from evil, such as the family, the Church, the government, law enforcement, etc. They're all being attacked by Satan in one way or another. That's so sweet of you to pray for us, thank you so much! So he did 3 tests which apparently show no rheumatoid arthritis He said when I visited the bump on finger is Osteo but the curving???

But the bump is new and apparently is arthritis related but osteo not rheumatoid. I've tried to explain the tests before, on the old board especially. Basically, as far as actually diagnosing RA, they mean nothing at all. There are lots of false negatives and false positives, which also mean nothing. The only way it can be diagnosed is by a really good RA doctor taking a history and learning about ALL your symptoms of everything you think you have and all the symptoms you've not told a doctor about. The lab tests may help confirm the diagnosis sometimes, and xrays, ultrasounds and other things may help determine how much degeneration has already occurred. So your results mean nothing really. I've tried to tell you before that you need to see a RA doctor, not your primary doctor. This is from the Mayo Clinic:
Rheumatoid arthritis can be difficult to diagnose in its early stages because the early signs and symptoms mimic those of many other diseases. There is no one blood test or physical finding to confirm the diagnosis. During the physical exam, your doctor will check your joints for swelling, redness and warmth. He or she may also check your reflexes and muscle strength. Your doctor may recommend X-rays to help track the progression of rheumatoid arthritis in your joints over time. MRI and ultrasound tests can help your doctor judge the severity of the disease in your body.
About the blood tests remembering what they already said about them: People with rheumatoid arthritis often have an elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR, or sed rate) or C-reactive protein (CRP), which may indicate the presence of an inflammatory process in the body. Other common blood tests look for rheumatoid factor and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-CCP) antibodies.
www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/rheumatoid-arthritis/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20353653
In other words, they might show these things and might not. Many people with RA (who's RA has been proven) don't have the ESR or CRP, others do. So either way doesn't mean you don't have it.
The best site for learning about RA is Kelly Young's site as I've said before. You can trust what she says as she backs it all up with good medical links. She does her research very well. She's the one who wrote the book about RA that I told you about:

He did ask about x-rays but I was in a hurry ( having walked and needed to walk back home) so I said no to that. Well, I see him again in 3 mts, and if fingers continue to curve I will bring it up again. He was under the impression that usually all fingers curve, and I only have 2 on each hand....at this point anyway, and it is not yet major, just mild or slight. The problem is we only have 100 percent coverage for Prov. doc. and there are no specialist in our little ocean village prov hospital. There might be in Portland, but no way to get there.
I will look at the site thank you.

He's had it since the accident Lorrie. It's probably taking longer to heal because of where it is...whenever he sits down, he's putting pressure on it as it's near his hip. I'd been wondering about that for a long time. Before the only "reason" for the swelling was the bruises, but they've been gone a long time now, and the swelling the same. So it had to be more then just the bruising. Many people seem to think the hospital he was in is the greatest, but the only good thing I saw about it was that his nurses were very nice, kind and gentle. Other than that, no one seemed to know what was going on. He had so many so called specialists, and none of them knew what the others were doing, and he didn't even have the same specialists the whole time. It was just whoever was on duty in that department that day. Talk about confusing! The first day, the day of the accident, my daughter gave them a list of his meds, including dosages, & what he couldn't take in writing. The next day I told them again. The second day, I saw them give him a pill that looked a lot like Ibuprofen. He said it was tylenol, so I let it go. But it bugged me so when I saw his nurse I asked her and she said that it was Ibuprofen and that they'd been giving it to him every 4 hours since he came in. Taking any NSAID is very dangerous for him due to the Methotrexate he takes! She looked on his med sheet, saw that he was indeed taking Methotrexate, and just about had a heart attack herself! She immediately called the doctor that had ordered it and told him and he agreed to stop giving it to him. I couldn't believe it! Plus, she knew he was also getting a med for GERD and that his stomach was bothering him a lot, so the ibuprofen would have made that worse too (and it did!). She asked me to go over his meds with her so she could make sure there were no other mistakes, and we discovered he was only getting half the dose of pantaprozole for his stomach! So she called the doctor again and got that fixed. After all the wrong stuff they'd done medication wise, it took a month for me to get his stomach back to where it was bearable for him. ... I'd better stop or I could go on all day. Just one more incident that confirmed my opinion of not liking hospitals at all, and never wanting to be in one myself. I'd have to be unconscious before they could get me admitted to one! And I'd get out as soon as I woke up if at all possible! iloveu all, pray for you all every day....or at least when ever your post here or on FB or thoughts of you goes through my mind...which is often!
Hope you're having a good day Lulu. I've got to run do the bible study now. I'm late as usual lol

Lulu, that was such a sweet thing to say, and we, all us FH chatters , love you & Ron and are grateful for your prayers.
Oh my goodness Cindy!!! Did they not have a hospitalist coordinating Bruce's care?? If a DOCTOR can make those kind of mistakes with his meds.... what is going on with healthcare in America?! (That's a rhetorical question... we all know it's sub-standard, to say the least. )
Well I was just coming in here to copy & paste a request I just put on my Sunday School class private FB page, in case anyone sees it and would pray (I know you will, and thank you for it!):
Requesting prayer for John as he's driving back to NC right now (2nd time this week). Last night after church he started having abdominal pain that turned into one of those awful Crohn's flares he experiences once or twice a year. He was in agony through most of the night but finally got to sleep around 4 (he'd rested some earlier in the night before the pain got so bad), then left home about 11 am for NC. (He has a big project that's completing tomorrow and feels that he must be there.) I don't think he'd want me sending this out to the whole church, but if you all would just keep him in your prayers, I surely would appreciate it!

That sure is a scary story Cindy!!! And what if you had not been able to catch all the mistakes? It was bad enough He was in there with serious injuries, but then to have the very hospital putting him in even more serious danger!!!
I have often noticed that in general, nurses are very kind and compassionate. I do think maybe doctors are under a lot of stress often, but it also seems that some ( not all) are abrupt and arrogant....and at times, I wonder where their minds are at?
My adopted mom, who was a nurse in the 1920's, on until she died, had some incredible horror stories of doctors she worked with for over a 60 nursing span.
She worked in ER, hospitals, from private doctors, visiting home doctors ( back in the day), nursing homes etc.
One thing seems almost consistent, nurses often are compassionate and pick up errors for doctors.
I know we have to be ever so careful about 'alternative' options, because they soooo often go hand in hand with witchcraft, and false gospels, false religions.....
but I have to say, I still am not 100 percent confident that the standard medical world is always the authoritative and best way in everything concerning health.
And even when a pill can be life saving, in the wrong dose, with a distracted doctor, it can kill as easily as an herb growing in one's garden....just sayin
plus, with the big big push to rid all opiates from those in true constant pain....
