That is a nice photo of Chippy, and nice that Chippy is around when the children come to visit at your place. I know animals wait to see other animals, my dogs do that, wait to see two other dogs and even look out the window waiting for them.

In the six years Devon has been here Hossanah has had to take him to the hospital several times for his asthma ( the have a home machine with medicine which is step two if the inhaler does not work). so step one is inhaler, step two the machine thingy with medicine, and then if those fail, it's off to hospital.
And yeah epi pen is great for peace of mind, plus the hospital is less than a mile away, so that helps! If something happened at school, the hospital is just a few blocks away.
I loved the photo of Chippy!!

I know animals wait to see other animals, my dogs do that, wait to see two other dogs and even look out the window waiting for them. It's interesting to watch and see which of the animals the cats like, and which they don't. How in the world they tell them apart, one chipmunk from another or one squirrel from another etc. I'll never know lolIn the six years Devon has been here Hossanah has had to take him to the hospital several times for his asthma ( the have a home machine with medicine which is step two if the inhaler does not work). so step one is inhaler, step two the machine thingy with medicine, and then if those fail, it's off to hospital.

I loved the photo of Chippy!! Yeah, the "home machine" is called a nebulizer, and those can really help. Elijah and I both have that, although neither of us has had to use it in a long time thanks to the Lord. It's sure scary when they have trouble breathing, isn't it? Poor kids. Elijah's school also has an epi pen for him, does your school keep one for Devon as well? Thankfully, they've never had to use it, but better safe then sorry!Sorry, you know I don't watch hardly any TV so don't really know much at all about it. As the years go by, I watch less and less and read more.
Hope everyone is having a good day today. Gracie is taking dance classes this week and really enjoying them. When they were here last weekend Both Grace and Elijah asked me for books to read. Now, I know they're both avid readers like me, but they're really not old enough to read adult books yet.... or so I thought. Grace insisted though, and begged me to let her read a book she found, so I opened it up and said, "OK, Grace, then show me you can read it". Well, she sure showed me!!! Give me a break, the child is only 7 years old and can read an adult book! Elijah is 10 now, so I expected him to be able to read adult books, but not my little Gracie!
Thankfully Elijah rescued me, as he spotted the Left Behind Books for the Kids. I have all 40 of them. He'd seen his mom reading them a year or so ago and was interested then but I wasn't sure he was ready for them yet. They're going on vacation to Storyland and then Maine and they wanted some books to read in the car on the way. That's what started this whole thing. Anyway, when he saw those books, he decided he wanted to read them, so I gave him the first two, figuring he could read one on the way there and the other on the way back. (He reads fast like I do and so does Grace lol) Apparently he couldn't wait because he was already half way through it yesterday LOL So I told Jenn to come over before they leave and grab a couple more of them for him. In the meantime, I need to find some appropriate books for Grace. She can read just about anything, but I want to give her something that she'll enjoy that's less adult or at least not dealing with adult issues.

I have switched to watching a Navy crime scene investigation series (NCIS), Blue Bloods ( about a New York Police Irish Catholic family), Flashpoint (a Canadian special elite tactical police force unit ( no swearing or sex so far) but may soon have to just read books ONLY ( well except for news, and FH and e-mail) Most of those programs at least allude to violent crimes, and it seems we have more than enough real VIOLENT crimes in our world. I really need a Kindle fire fox for my birthday ( in case hubby is reading this LOL).
Well, I can't tell you much about my whimpy plants because they have gotten their way and have been cloistered inside due to cloudy weather.
Today will be 66 and partly cloudy.....so prob won't go out today either.
However, my tumeric plant which was pulling a "I'm dying' routine, has grown another whole stem, now that it is inside and nice and cozy!!!
Anybody found a good way to 'wash' an older cat? Sinbad seems to be smelling a LOT more. I think its a combo of things....eating icky smelling cat food, then washing his fur with food particles on his tongue, teeth and/or gums, and just maybe age....

Good day Barbra
I don't' have an old cat but the only thing I could think to maybe clean the cat would be dry shampoo. I remember there used to be dry shampoo. I don't remember ever buying any and I don't know if it is still around. That is what I would try if I could find it or else baby powder for the cat's fur. There is breath freshener for animals that can be bought at a feed store or online. I had some once but didn't use it for the dogs and threw it away. If you could use a toothbrush and dog toothpaste that would probably be good. I use that for my dogs.

I finally got everything put back after the carpet cleaning. I even went to exercise class this morning. Did laundry too. Hubby returned to our daughter's house to finish the sprinkler project. He said her oldest son helped him and they had a good time working together.
I'm still reading books by Davis Bunn. This morning I checked out The Sign Painter and will start it later this afternoon.
Hope everyone is staying cool. Hugs.

Thank you Anna for your suggestions. I would like to use the dry shampoo and the baby powder, but I wonder if they would be toxic, because the cat licks his fur?
I did used to brush my Airedales teeth, and she was fine with that......but cats can be soooooo picky and fussy!! I can just seeing going to a pet store and the 'toothpaste' being $8 or more, and fussy cat, spitting out the very first bit.
Of course, he 'might' like it and go for it.
Anyway, thank you for the thoughts, if I get a wee bit of extra cash, I might give them a try.
I was thinking maybe putting aloe on his fur
or......
a solution of Bragg's apple Cider vinegar and water.....what do you think? anyone?

I like Braggs apple cider vinegar. I use it to make sour dough and then make tortillas. I just finished baking a carrot cake in a toaster oven, I was hoping it would turn out OK and it did. About the stinky cat, wouldn't apple cider vinegar with water make the stinky cat even stinkier? lol Maybe use a dryer sheet to rub on the cat's fur, that would be cheap and smell good.

every one from sunny southern California, and HOT...not to bad this week, well yesterday was bad.... Work has been wicked slow, and the three months are up since I took this new position, as Boeing final QC. it's been a lot of learning for sure, but it's stuff I like. I talked to my boss today, and let her know that the time was up, and we needed to talk about a raise. what she said didn't sound good, SO I be updating my resume this weekend. a prayer or two would be appreciated for my job/raise or new job, what ever the Lords will is. Cindy, Chippy2 is a cute as a button. Question, how do you know it's #2? yes, I agree, divorce and kids are a wicked thing. especially when the x is evil and no's not what truth is, or love for that matter! wishing every one a Happy Independence day this coming monday! we are looking forward to a 3 day weekend again! AND it's a Jazz of a Jazzy weekend. It's been a month since we've seen our baby! Baby, good heavens she's 10!!!! Barbra, happy to hear your furbaby is doing better! to you all!

Kelly you are the second person I have heard say that serious heat is coming soon, much hotter than what we have already had this summer, where do you get your weather info from, I go to NOAA and Accuweather to get weather information.
I was just thinking about this Christian woman that has decided to go to medical school, with the goal of bettering herself for a better paying job. She will have to take out student loans- that is where the question is for people now days. I think in the past that used to work OK for people to take out student loans, but I notice that people question now days if that is a good idea, some people don't get the job they want and can't pay back the student loans. About half of her friends say go for it, and half say don't do it, interesting, I don't know. But what is good is that she has faith, and prayers.

Anna: You made me laugh, Bragg's making a stinky cat stinkier LOL I like your idea about a dryer sheet...won't clean him up much but might smell a lot better!!
well, with a troublesome cat, and fussy plants ( out 'sunning' as I post, and will have to come back in in an hour or two)
I guess, it was inevitable I would find some other vexing thing....such enough...I just had hubby buy me some kefir starter ( lots and lots and lots of pro-biotics!!!)
Once you wake them up you can use them forever ( sort of like a sour dough starter I am thinking).
I never had a sour dough starter so I am only guessing.....
Still, they sound a 'little' (maybe more than a little?) fussy, at least at first...
But I have been watching you-tubes videos on how to wake them up, how to store them etc.
Hummmmm maybe, I can pour the kefir over the stinky cat what do you think LOL

Barbra I like kefir. I wish I knew you were going to buy kefir, is it water kefir or milk kefir? Both are good to have. I take kefir on and off and would continue but my body reacts to it, even though it makes me feel better, I get a rash from milk kefir, and I have never heard of anyone getting a rash from it, I could just kick myself in the rear and water kefir I like but I have a fussy liver, so I gave it up, I think it is 1% alachol. The reason I wish I knew you were going to buy kefir was I would have gave my opinion not to get the powder kefir but instead buy from amazon for under ten dollars. If the powder doesn't work you can get it from amazon which is a good deal also there is the kefirlady.com who mails kefir also. Kefir doesn't smell that good, it has a slight off smell, but one gets used to it. I think it would be good for a cat to drink also. Oh I read your post again, maybe you did get the kefir grains and not the powder.

Sorry I was MIA yesterday. It was a totally crazy day. First I didn't wake up till 9:30 which has never happened before and then Bruce wound up getting off work at noon (with pay!) so he wanted to go get the shopping done. Plus I had a doctor appointment at 4:15. We managed to get it all done, but by the time we got back home and got everything put away, neither one of us had the energy to cook supper so we just ate cereal and collapsed in our chairs till bedtime lol Today will be busy too but not as bad as yesterday thankfully.I have switched to watching a Navy crime scene investigation series (NCIS), Blue Bloods ( about a New York Police Irish Catholic family), Flashpoint (a Canadian special elite tactical police force unit ( no swearing or sex so far) but may soon have to just read books ONLY ( well except for news, and FH and e-mail) Most of those programs at least allude to violent crimes, and it seems we have more than enough real VIOLENT crimes in our world. The only time I've ever washed my cats was a long time ago when they were allowed outside. Then I used either dawn or baby shampoo and washed them in the kitchen sink. They did NOT like it though!!!! I always had a towel ready to wrap them in afterward too, but they still looked like drowned rats afterward lolGood day Barbra

Basically all dry shampoo is just like baby powder which absorbs the oil in your hair. (or at least that's what it was back when I was a teenager)I finally got everything put back after the carpet cleaning. I even went to exercise class this morning. Did laundry too. I put it on my cats with an eye dropper and simply empty the eye dropper along their spines. They lick it off immediately, which is fine, it still works and may help his breath too. I agree about not using the dry shampoo as it might hurt them when they lick it off.I like Braggs apple cider vinegar. I use it to make sour dough and then make tortillas. I'll certainly add that to my prayer list Lulu. I don't know for sure if it's #1 or #2 LOL, I'm only making an educated guess based on how long they normally live. It's certainly possible it's the original Chippy. Everyone tends to think it's the original Chippy, and I agree with all their reasons, BUT, if it is, where has he been for the last 2 years since Sunny died???? I just don't know for sure and probably never will, but enjoy having him "back" regardless of whether it's the original or one of his kids. Hi everyone. Been enjoying reading all your posts; I'm so glad that "traffic" has picked up here in Chat over the last couple of weeks. I was beginning to worry about us! (Of course, I'm not posting nearly as much as I used to either, so I blame myself too....) Actually I'm posting now because Cindy asked me to remind her of something I "shared" yesterday on Facebook -- she wanted to put 14 year old Harrison on her prayer list because his leukemia has returned. This boy is a friend of my sister's family. He was diagnosed originally around age 10 or 11 and took three years of intensive treatments; he has been fine for a year. This is what his father posted on their "Pray for Harrison" FB page: I had hope to never write this. Harrison's cancer is back. We found out this morning trying to figure out why Harrison had been having headaches and nausea. He pitched two innings last night and gave up only two hits. Tonight he is in the hospital preparing to start chemo tomorrow. He is devastated. Prayers greatly appreciated. I will be keeping up with him and will try and update. Of course, any of you on Facebook are welcome to follow along on "Pray for Harrison." He had surgery to put in a port the next day and the follow-up post said: Harrison is out of surgery and recovering. He is in some pain but it's tolerable. Bigger disappointment for him: "I don't want to lose my hair." Sometimes it's the little things. He got chemo in his spine during surgery and will start other chemo tonight. Pray that he responds well to it without considerable sickness through the night. Hope to learn more of the plan tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for continuing to #pray4harrison.
Harrison is now home for the weekend and will have to report back to the hospital on Tuesday. Yesterday his dad wrote: We got home from the hospital last night around 11:30. It was a late night but we would all rather be home than the hospital. This morning we opened the mail and found a letter from Harrison's school inviting him to be a member of the 9th grade leadership team. What an honor for a young man who has fought so much. He is truly a leader. The good thing about the FB page is you can also see pictures. He is a handsome young man! Praying for God to take care of them all.

Anna:
I wrote it was a kerfir starter actually it was the milk kefir grains. However, several video's have said you can actually use the milk kefir for water/juice, you just have to rinse them well, but after a few times, you rince them again, and use milk again ( so they can grow, the milk ones 'grow' in milk, so they must go back in milk after 3-5 'water' uses).
Cindy: one of the reasons I am trying grains instead of pills, is cost. Once you pay the original ( in this case $20), is they last forever ( unless you heat them, or use metal).
Obviously depending on what 'propaganda/advertising LOL kerfir is said to be 100 times more effective than pills .
One site put it this way: "Many people wonder if probiotic pills provide the same benefit as probiotic foods since they seem to be marketed in the same way—healthy bacteria for our guts.
However, probiotic foods work significantly better because of their construction. To get into the small intestine and colon, where they do the work of breaking down and processing food and powering up the immune system, the bacteria first have to move through the stomach, but the stomach is filled with acid designed to kill bacteria.
When you eat a probiotic food, the food itself provides a protective armor that helps shield the friendly bacteria. It also speeds the transport out of the stomach, thus keeping the good bacteria intact.
Probiotic pills are often trapped in the acids of the stomach, and the probiotics are killed before the body ever gets a chance to use them....
It’s unusual to find a probiotic supplement containing more than 10 billion colony-forming units.
( another source says: Pills on the other hand typically contain between 50 million-10 billion bacteria units per pill. 10 trillion ( from a small amount of kefir grains) would be more than a whole bottle of probiotic pills.)
back to first site which goes on to say:.... actually tested fermented vegetables ( and homemade kefir that is not heated etc. my words not in the article) ) produced by probiotic starter cultures, they had 10 trillion colony-forming units of bacteria. "
In other words they are also more bio-available ( according to the grains and even powdered starters).
But really I am positive pills have value. It seems like pills are less time consuming but may have more nutrients, but pills are easier, but more spendy in the long run. So it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the others.
However, there are all sorts of neat things you can do with kefir ( I happen to love the taste and it never smelled bad to me?)
You can use your homemade kefir and put your own fresh berries in, or make coconut kefir, citrus kefir, use it to make cultured veggies, kefir cheese etc. etc.
Apparently (other than heat or metal) Kefir grains live forever....who knew? But if you don't use them every day ( well every 2-3 days) then after a week or two they sort of go back to sleep, and you have to wake them up again.
And.....they keep on growing, so its sort of like having a very fruitful tree, that you are constantly asking neighbors if they would like some ( for free)

That is what is nice about kefir, you keep growing your own for free! Now I am making my own yogurt, for probiotics and I keep using my own culture also. Yogurt works well for me because I like sugar.
Kelly, BBC World news I know what you mean about the weather channel reality show, I can't watch that either, it takes up to much of my time.

That poor family! Thank you for the reminder; I've added him to my prayer list now!I usually got Accuweather or Weather underground I got tired of Weather channel reality show so I been stick to those network now Weather underground is mostly internet service my Verzion Fios turn Frontier Fios carry that officially that only cable channel carry it they making plans right now do other cable system Just started last year I like accuweather too!Anna:
/font comic sans MS] The ones I take definitely reach everywhere they need to! Let me tell you about them because God has used these to work a miracle for me!
The BIO-tract Difference: Probiotic Survival Past Stomach Acids When the pearl is moistened by fluids in the stomach, the patented gel matrix creates a protective layer, shielding beneficial organisms from stomach acids and directing them to release later in their journey.
Once inside the gastrointestinal tract, probiotics begin to release at consistent levels from the pearl core, delivering a potent percentage of our living organisms throughout the day and throughout your gut, traveling deep into your intestinal tract where they are needed most.
This is the only controlled-release delivery available for probiotics on the market today and is patented in 31 countries (US Patent 8,007,777 and 7,150,623).
BIO-tract consistently delivers as many as 15 times, or more, the number of live, viable probiotic organisms past simulated stomach acids than (plain/standard) capsules as repeatedly demonstrated through in vitro lab testing.
Most probiotic supplements are in veggie capsules which offer no protection from a harsh stomach environment, meaning that many of the beneficial organisms do not survive long enough to deliver any benefit.
Enteric coated probiotic capsules offer some protection from stomach acids with a few drawbacks. Most enteric coatings are made of a synthetic chemical that the capsule is then dipped into. In addition to unwanted added chemicals, the capsule contains air and the coating contains moisture that is detrimental to the probiotic organisms. You see, freeze-dried probiotic powder is ‘hygroscopic,’ meaning that it seeks out moisture. The beneficial flora will start wicking the moisture away from the air and the coating, which starts killing the living probiotics inside. Essentially, both veggie capsules and enteric coated capsules cause the living organisms inside to self-destruct, leading to a far less potent product.
Instead of a coating or a capsule, we tablet our formulas using a patented manufacturing process called LiveBac and a patented delivery method called BIO-tract, which provide much better protection for the beneficial flora while on the shelf (as there is minimal air and moisture) and as the tablet travels through the harsh environment of your stomach acids. Simply put, this leads to a much more effective probiotic and exponentially greater health benefits for you. Furthermore, BIO-tract ensures that the active organisms are released slowly over an 8-10 hour period while making the journey through the intestinal tract, successfully bypassing your stomach acids so that they can colonize in your small and large intestine, where you need them.
Hyperbiotics formulas are naturally derived with a guaranteed shelf life of 18 months from the date of manufacture.
Here's a copy of a post I wrote telling about my experience with these:
Oh Lorrie, you're by no means alone! I do things like that all the time. Ever since we heard the saying about potatoes though, it's been a constant line between me and Bruce. Once in awhile I'll say it to him, but it seems like he's constantly having to remind me!
Because you know people with crohns and those who have constant UTI's, as well as those who have GERD IBS, and other intestine and/or bowel problems, I want to tell you about these two supplements I found with the Lord's help. You know how I feel about vitamins and supplements it's not at all something I'm into or that I would normally even think about since I had that brain tumor caused by vitamin A! But the Lord first pointed these out to me and then seemed to really want me to try these and so I did. At the time I began taking the Pro15, my stomach and bowels were so bad that I was taking a very large prescription dose of pantoprazole and my doctor wasn't really happy about that. But even with that large dose, my stomach was a mess and I was miserable. Nothing seemed to help and he'd tried any number of different meds for me and I'd tried a few on my own to no effect. That's what finally led me to more specific prayer for help and then to the pro15. Having taken it for months now, I can honestly say it helped! I was cautious at first, not wanting to get my hopes up and thinking maybe it was just a coincidence, but time showed that it wasn't. I was first able to cut the dose of the pantaprazole in half, and then, finally able to drop it altogether and go back to a mild, over the counter dose of pepcid once a day! (I have a feeling that I no longer need that either, but haven't gotten up the guts to let it go yet - pardon the pun lol) On top of that, my bowel problems improved as well so that was also quite a relief. I was taking miralax for constipation but after about a week, it would give me the opposite problem, so it was back and forth between the two all the time. Now, I take the miralax about once every week and half and I'm all set. No problems! Plus, since taking the pro15, I can finally eat normal regular food again, just like other people! I still have my moments when I'm not feeling well due to other problems and don't eat "right', but that's another thing altogether.
When I first found the pro15, I did a lot of research on it. According to what I'd learned, I needed to have certain specific supplements and this had all of them and more. There was one other brand that some people said was even better, but after reading everything, I took that to be simple personal preference, and then later when I read it more carefully, discovered that was exactly what the author said. (plus that one was even more expensive, putting it out of my ability to pay) I literally had pages and pages of a word document filled with information on this before I first decided to buy it. I also took the time to read all of the over 2000 reviews and 200 answered questions at the time. Now there's over 4000 reviews and 286 answered questions!!!!! Out of all those reviews it has a 4.3 out of 5 rating.
I don't know if I mentioned this before or not, but Gracie also has what she calls "tummy problems" and constipation. (IBS) One evening after dinner at my house, her tummy started hurting because of this. Jenn gave her my pro15, (I'd checked to make sure it was ok for children) and her tummy stopped hurting within about an hour! That had NEVER happened before. Jenn gave her another one the next morning "just to be sure". It's the only thing that's ever helped Gracie and there are many reviews that say similar things about children on this too.
Here's what Pro15 has in it: Proprietary Probiotic Blend: 5 billion CFU L.plantarum, L.fermentum, L.acidophilus, B.infantis, L.casei, B.longum, L.rhamnosus, B.lactis, L.reuteri, L.salivarius, L.paracasei, L.gasseri, B.bifidum, B.breve, S.thermophilus Prebiotic Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) 25 mg
In ProWomen: The strains in PRO-Women are L.plantarum, L.fermentum, L.acidophilus, L.reuteri, L.rhamnosus, and B.bifidum. There are 5 billion colony forming units (CFUs) in each tablet and each tablet also includes cranberry extract and D-Mannose.
Prowomen as a 4.4 out of 5 star rating and over 800 reviews and 46 answered questions at this time. I'll give you the links to both so you and/or your friends can begin their own research if they're interested.
I hope this helps you and anyone you know that has any kind of problems with their stomach, intestines, bowels, or urinary tract.
PRO15
PROWOMEN
That is what is nice about kefir, you keep growing your own for free! Now I am making my own yogurt, for probiotics and I keep using my own culture also. Yogurt works well for me because I like sugar.
Kelly, BBC World news I know what you mean about the weather channel reality show, I can't watch that either, it takes up to much of my time. free is nice, but even though we don't have much money, I wouldn't change if someone paid me too, not after all Pro-15 has done for me. My doctor is amazed by the difference. We were just talking about it on Friday and I gave him a list of everything that's in it. He may be telling other patients about it now. I just know it helped me tremendously where nothing else ever has, prescription, over the counter, vitamin, supplement or anything...not until I tried these!

Two neighbors used to shoot off their guns, I don't think they do it anymore, both would shoot because they did not like each other, but I think they leave each alone now, and cautiously avoid each other. I like to watch old Christmas movies.

I'm so excited and can hardly believe it happened! Do you all remember the videos I posted years ago that showed Sunny playing hide and seek with the squirrels? Well, they haven't done that since he died either, at least not till yesterday; but yesterday they came back and began to teach Chloe how to play hide and seek!!! It was hilarious! Bruce saw them first and ran in and told me so I could watch too. The squirrels never went away, and neither did the chipmunks, they've always stayed around the yard and gotten their food from the feeder, but had stopped coming to the windows and door to play with the cats till just recently. I have no idea what changed or why they waited till now. Maybe they thought Rascal and Chloe were too little last year... Angel was never interested. She always just laid around and watched Sunny play with them, and didn't try to play with them herself. So that's probably partly why they stopped for awhile after Sunny died. I'm just so glad they've come back though, as it's so much fun to watch them all play together!I am hooked on One America news I stop watching Fox news in last six months they add when Al Jazeera America went off the air they sometime had better coverage on international news scene yes it own by Wash Times LOL! glad you found something you like!BTW Reelz channel has new series called Autopsy tv show it based on real life celebrites autosopy report tell me a lot In life and death we are born then live then died it just seem some celebrities need all that drugs to fill that inner empty space in their lifes I was watching Anna Nicole Smith then earlier Elvis man those people are a lot of drugs in them only for 12 hours I am waiting for Twilight Zone marathon start on Sci fi channel and NCIS reruns on USA networks Yes, it seems there are lots of folks on drugs and/or alcohol in the entertainment industry. This is the strangest thing, but our beautiful dog, Thunder, disappeared last night. Timothy put him out in the back yard (which is fenced) around 10:00 and when he went to let him in a few minutes later, Thunder was gone. We were out searching the yard by flashlight, calling his name.... Thunder was nowhere to be found. So this morning I was out early, looking again, walking the back yard, driving the neighborhood, asking a couple of neighbors who were out if they've seen him.... he has vanished. He is 11 years old, which is old for a collie, so we've known we won't have him much longer.... but to totally disappear in a matter of a few minutes??? I know that God cares for His animals, so if you don't mind, please say a prayer that we will find out what happened to our dear pet.
