Good morning!
I was bird watching this morning and I saw a red cardinal bird, not as pretty as this bird, I think it is the female bird that is not as pretty as the male bird. I also watched a group of quail walking on the ground and I also saw what I thought was an osprey, but was probably a bald eagle instead. They kinda look alike but osprey eat fish, so haha no fish around here.

you must reading my mind Barbara, as I've been thinking about making Banana Bread all weekend, LOL. I still haven't made it and probably won't get to it today either, but maybe tomorrow....
I love watching the cardinals at our house. The males are so pretty and the females so plain in comparison. But when I just look at the female, without comparing, then I can see her beauty too. Just not as colorful.
I gathered up a bunch of strawberries on Friday from our garden and decided to give them to the critters since they'd be some of the last. So Saturday when we were leaving to do the shopping, I went out to the bird feeder as there was a young squirrel inside it eating. I kept calling to him and showing him a strawberry but he wouldn't pay attention to me. So when I got up to the feeder, I knocked on the glass to get his attention, still showing a strawberry with my other hand, and he STILL ignored me! He just kept right on eating! The little pig! LOL. So I left one in the feeder for him, and put the rest on the ground for the others. They were all gone by the time we got home.
We've had a kind of busy time since Friday when Bruce got home from work. He got another migraine and battled it through the night till Saturday morning when it finally went away. He's been fine since though and we both decided to just do our normal stuff and not give in to it at all. Poor guy was exhausted though as he didn't get much sleep Friday night. We were planning on taking Jenn and her family to Vermont for an apple pie festival on Sunday, but Matthew came and brought much needed rain so there was no point in going as it was to be an outside event. Instead the kids came over to our house and we played Yahtzee yet again. I lost!
We also had another discussion about angels and Satan as Elijah has been witnessing to his little girlfriend and she always has tons of questions for him. He's getting to be quite the little apologist for a 10 year old! So is Jennifer as she has to try and help him find the answers, which is great. She calls me when she can't find something which is fine, that's what I'm here for, but I like that she tries to find the answers herself and does the best she can and is teaching the kids to do the same. She's good too about when she makes a mistake and tells the kids she goofed and what the correct answer is, so the kids have also learned that it's ok to make a mistake, and that it doesn't hurt a bit when you tell others that you have and then tell them the correct answers.
I hope you all have had a good weekend and that today goes well for everyone!

I was reading on-line reviews from others about how nice it was to be a member of a food warehouse in Tucson, all reviews said good prices good food etc., well I no long like to read such reviews. I drove to Tucson, bumper to bumper traffic everywhere, went to join and be a member, shopped at the store and did not like it there at all. I am thinking of going back next month and giving up the membership and getting my money back, but I found another one of their warehouse stores in town and I think I will go to that one before I give up on the membership. Even the parking lot was so full with all parking spots taken that when I got to my car with groceries another car was honking it's horn at me to move out of my parking spot, before I even got my groceries in my car, kinda funny now to think about it, but at the time it wasn't funny. Anyways I bought some salmon patties that had such good reviews, but I hesitated to cook them, wondered about the safety and I looked on-line for information about the salmon patties and I decided to return them to the store next month when I drive to Tucson, I don't think they are safe to eat, anyways I read one review that a woman said she got bad headaches after eating that salmon, she said it was from food dye that she get the bad headaches. So I plan another trip to Tucson next month, yuk, that is if the city is not nuked by then. You never know, I am expecting war to break out between Russia and the US.

Reading your post Anna reminded me of the Bible verse about wars and rumors of wars. I too have been hearing rumors about Russia and US.....I am not sure if that fits in to any Bible prophecy?
Anyway, it was finally time to bring all my tropical whimpy plants in for the winter....no more lugging them out to sun and back in for nite-nite.
In fact, the mini mandarin orange tree had all but completely died.......
but now.....
that they are all in their room....
even that scoundrel has perked right back up...all green, making new leaves, and smirking at me!!!
Wow, if I lived near any of you, I would be camped outside your doors, ready for banana bread, apple pies, and any other treats you may have made :-)

Cindy, this is heartwarming to read! SO proud of Jenn for teaching her children in such a thorough way that they can take the information to their friends... and of course, Jenn learned from the best -- her mom! BTW, I saw your recent comment on Michelle Lesley's blog. I've been searching out & reading articles this afternoon on the topic of women teaching men. She has a couple of really good ones and in fact, I took a break from some of the lengthy comments to pop in here to FH and see what's going on in chat, but I'm about to return and finish reading.
Anna - which warehouse did you join?

Good morning ladies!
Cindy, I like to read about the adventures of the birds and critters that you have eating seeds from your bird feeder. The quail birds around here seem to like to walk much more than they like to fly, so they have one bird sit on a tree branch and watch out for the other birds safety, while the others walk around and make a squeaky sound, they are cute. edit to add- Cindy I am looking at reviews to buy the Magnesium supplement and in one review a woman takes Magnesium for migraines, she said if she is magnesium deficient that she get migraines. I take magnesium and potassium everyday so I don't get muscle cramps.
Barbra, I like to read about how your plants are doing. I hope the tropical trees live and produce fruit for you again. It seems to me that I can see the artist in you by the way you talk about your house plants, maybe that is because I live with an artist. I ask Ron to draw but he doesn't and I told him if I had a talent like he does I would be drawing all the time. He used to draw pictures when he was a child but his father made him stop drawing and go outside and play baseball with the boys.
Hi Leigh, I hope you are feeling well, it must be nice to look outside this time of year at the trees where you live, I miss seeing trees, I know I have mentioned that before. The warehouse that I go to is a Costco. Hi Margie, I hope all is going well for you and your family.
I feel sorrow about the changes that I see happening in our country and the changes that I see happened in Europe. I think I will sell my car since I don't drive it much and don't really need it. It was a nice on-line worship in the Christian chat room yesterday morning, it is only one day a week to listen to Vernon play oldies music, I felt blessed all day from participating in that. Saw a small snake yesterday evening, just a garter snake so no problem, I like garter snakes, living here where I do I always have to look at the ground when I walk.

Awww that's sad about your husband Anna. Not that there was anything wrong about your husband's father wanting his son to go play outside.....but.....it would seem to me a well balanced schedule of doing both would have been a good idea.
Still, I wonder why your husband doesn't draw now. I really don't draw well, I am more a 'painter' and a 'colorist'. I would love to be able to draw well.
Nevertheless, the more you do the better you get.
It's so strange all my life I have heard people say, I can't draw a straight line so I have no art ability.
But apparently they are unaware that some of the greatest artists also could not draw a 'straight' line ( that would be more like an draftsman than an artist).
Art is more 'emotional'....creative....not about straight lines.
True there are super 'realism' artists that draw and paint like a camera.... which is quite a skill to be sure.... but it does not trump, a beautiful expressionistic garden painting.
I remember an assignment given to an art class I took in HS. We were to put our pencil on a piece of paper....and never again look at the piece of paper.....nor lift the pencil off the paper.
We were to ONLY look at a chair placed in the center of the room... and with only looking with our eyes, trace the outline of the chair.....
without lifting the pencil ( so of course, lines would almost certainly cross, and go hither and thither....but the results were stunning!!!
Most people, if they start to draw, they are constantly checking the paper and erasing.... they are never satisfied, and easily discouraged, because they cannot do a photo realistic drawing ( I am still to this day, somewhat stuck this way too).
But photo realism is only one type of style of art.
I agree a real knowledge of anatomy. botany etc. could be a help for an artist.... however
Grandma Moses a well known folk artist, who really began painting in earnest, at age 78....had little or no such knowledge but did delightful paintings!
www.google.com/search?q=grandma+moses&rlz=1CALEAG_enUS706US706&espv=2&biw=1093&bih=505&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjV1rWpudPPAhUE62MKHT5SANIQ_AUIBigB&dpr=1.25
My point is this long missive.....why don't you just start drawing or painting.....???? Your husband may get interested in your work and/or decide to start drawing again because of your example and encouragement.
Art can be 'serious' or 'fun' or both :-)
I often used to have a terrible time getting started ( actually I still do...unless someone commissions me anymore, I don't paint...period)
However......
Once I get started......I often soooooo get into it and love how certain 'painterly' things happen ( new to me often) and I have fun while being serious. LOL
I learn new stuff every time I paint....new color combos, new ways of applying the paint etc etc....fun!! And finally to see the finished product.....it's sort of like finally seeing your baby, or any little new born creature.
I do not have any of my paintings....all sold ( literally thousands)
Leonard on the other hand, does not really like selling his work.... oh if he got the right amount, he would let one or two go....
so even in that respect, there are no hard and fast rules about art....
it's not just about being famous, or making a ton of money, or expressing one self, or giving joy to another person, or just fun.... it can be one, some or all of those and more.
If you decide to draw or paint, be sure to show us :-)
One of my favorite artist Pierre Bonard ( notice, not so great in drawing or anatomy but I have seen this painting and no photo can do in 1/2 the justice the colors shimmer and are like light) It is just impossible to find a really good image.....the painting colors are sooooooo much better than this image....but the point is he was not a great drawer nor was his anatomy that great....but the colors were beautiful ( if only one could see the original like I did)

Anna - I figured it was Costco! We LOVE Costco! They finally built one here in Columbia and it opened a couple of months ago. O happy day! John's favorite store for the last 20+ years!
Barb - loved reading your 'missive' on art/painting/drawing. It was very informative! I read a biography years ago on Grandma Moses and found her quite fascinating.
My own grandmother took up painting in her 70s and she really got into it. She took lessons and did some beautiful paintings, mostly of scenery around town, although she was never completely satisfied with her work. I have a couple of them hanging on the hall wall upstairs.
My older son, Timothy, did amazing drawings as a small child, and one of my regrets is that I never got him into formal art lessons.
The only painting I do is the walls, trim, and the occasional ceiling.
Anna, watch out for snakes!!!

Good day Kelly, I hope you get some rain there with those clouds.
Leigh, at Costco I bought Kerrygold Dubliner cheese, imported from Ireland, that is the best cheese I have ever tasted; milk from grass fed cows; it was about the same price as other cheese.
I agree Barbra, Pierre Bonard is blessed to be able to do color the way he does, I enjoy looking at his painting and also grandma Moses which has a different style than Bonard, but nice to look at also, she drew and painted a lot of pictures for having started to draw and paint so late in life. I think I will try to draw, I used to like to do needlework with color threads and still would do that but after having a hand injury I can't hold a needle anymore.
Have a blessed day today everyone, Cindy and Lulu. I am off to do some odd work today, car brakes and work on a generator, I need to do yard work soon also.

I have read that BBC world news is a recommended place to get good news.
I watched a video last night filmed in 1997 Dumitru Duduman, you may have heard of him. When living in Romania he helped get Bibles into Russia and ended up in prison in Romania for 5 months, the prison commander ordered Dumitru to be killed and the commander died in his office holding the paperwork of Dumitru, the doctor went to Dumitru and asked him to not let his God kill him also. He was released from prison. The Lord told him to come to America and he did not want to, but the Lord told him he would not heal him of his wounds until he said he would come to America and speak to Americans, so he agreed to do it and was healed of his wounds that he got in prison.

Hi everyone.I have had a cold, and I keep reminding myself they only last 7 to 10 days and I am treating the symptoms. Cindy I will keep you and Bruce in my prayers as I know when hubby is sick, wifey takes up the slack so they don't feel worse(the hubby).I pray the Lord keeps up your strength so you can continue to help Bruce.I pray the Lord helps his migraines and I am praying for Lorrie to not get a migraine through this weather. Larry's funeral is paid and I got the remainder of his life insurance.I wanted to buy some different furniture(not new) and the Lord put a woman in the apt. next to me and she sold me a full sized bed with memory foam for 100.00 and Steven got my queen size.I also bought a olive green sectional(I had to fight Steven and Christian over it.They said it would be too big for my apt.). It fits perfect and separate my kitchen and dining room from the living room. It's awesome with recliners on both ends and is suede. it was 325.00.I also bought a brand new set of pans and a coffee maker and microwave. And a set of glass bakeware. All that was 90.00.I bought her laptop for Christian for his Christmas present and a tablet for Tylers' birthday Nov. 5th.150.00 for the both of them. I went Monday with Steven to pick out Larry's headstone and it will be ready in 6 wks.We took a picture of Jason's and got the same design but Jason's says "Asleep in Jesus" and Larry's says Waiting for you. these are all things I had to get done, but it does nothing to ease the pain of him not being with me.At least I know he is not suffering any longer. And I have to say,he never complained about how hard it was on him.To protect me and Steven.Thank the Lord ,He was with Lar.That is the only way he could have suffered so much in silence.I miss him so much.I have only broken down once and I attribute that to being held up by Jesus. Now my life can be dedicated to Him alone. Not that I wasn't devoted before but Larry was here for me to take care of and show Jesus' love and mercy to.Love you all and am going to post this as I usually sit here speechless and today I actually had some things to share,Love Ruthanne
