I'm praising God because Bruce hasn't had any pain for 24 hours now! Thank you Lord!!!! And thank you all who've been praying. I'm so glad this nightmare seems to be about over now! Maybe I can even sleep late tomorrow!

Remember the woodpecker we had many years ago that was a bit crazy as he would peck on the metal poles we had the bird feeders hanging on at the time? Well, we've got another one that's almost as crazy. this one's pecking on the house next to my window! The cats and I were all trying to see him but we weren't looking high enough up I guess. Bruce went outside and got a picture of him though so I thought I'd share it with you, along with a couple of other pictures recently taken. Thankfully he's now pecking on the trees, so maybe he just came to the window to let me know he was here LOL
at least he's not pecking on the AC!
I love watching them!
and here's Chippy eating the strawberry the kids left him LOL
Yesterday I was watching all the birds and critters out by the bird feeder and it was so neat. There were a couple of baby squirrels inside the feeder, and an adult squirrel and several birds eating on the outside of it. Then down on the ground below it, where I'd also sprinkled some seed, there were more squirrels, chipmunks and birds eating together. I love watching all of them eating and playing together. It's wonderful!

I like your pictures, Cindy. You really do have a backyard menagerie.
Finally was able to get my hair cut today. The lady who cuts my hair had surgery and hasn't worked since August. She did give me the name of another lady at the hair salon but I wanted to wait until she got back.

Bruce has been fighting migraines since he got home from work yesterday, and still is. We were up all night due to them. I called the doctor, and of course, he's on vacation. They tried to get him into another doctor's office, but they're all booked up. They're also going to set him up with a neurologist next week. We just have to get him through the weekend. So the only thing I can do it seems is take him to the ER when he wakes up. They suggested I get a ride to the ER though since I don't have a license, which would be the best route I suppose. Guess I'll call Jennifer and see if she's working or at home... or maybe my neighbor... I hate asking for help, and so does Bruce....
So woody woodpecker know where you live Right LOL! seems like it!I like your pictures, Cindy. You really do have a backyard menagerie. Finally was able to get my hair cut today. Thanks Margie, I'm glad you like them. yeah, once you get a good stylist, you don't want to have to go anywhere else. I bet it made her feel good too, to know you waited for her. Oh that gooddd Well I been binge watching the Borgias on showtime on demand I forgot one thing about the series Everybody having sex with everybody on that series yikes Yikes, I can't stand watching shows like that anymore. It's just so disgusting.
Sorry, I'm not very talkative today, as I'm exhausted and concerned about Bruce. He finally fell asleep a little while ago and I want to let him sleep as long as he can.

Checking in to see what everybody's been up to this week.
Cindy, I've been following Bruce since you're posting on FB also. I know you are both concerned and exhausted from dealing with this. Did they get his neuro appointment scheduled yet? I hope it will be sooner rather than later. Were you able to get a ride for him to the ER today? Saying a prayer right now for both of you to be able to rest tonight.
Sounds like everyone else is doing well... Lulu on her retreat, Anna busy working at home and fellowshipping online, Margie with her new hairdo eating tacos, Barb not sure what you're doing, probably painting, Seven trying to keep cool while fighting crime in LA! Lulu, I'm sure it was a nice service for your uncle; hope you are able to stay in touch with your aunt - that will mean a lot to both of you.
This morning it finally felt like fall here; I had to leave the house before 8:00 a.m. and walking out the door nearly had to turn around and go get my winter coat and gloves -- it was 63 degrees! Daniel and I had to meet with his senior advisor at school to talk about graduation (they're required to sign a contract now, stating they've been told the requirements for graduation) and college plans.
It's a busy weekend ahead with church, helping give a baby shower for a friend, and a meeting of the pastor search committee. I'm so far behind on so many things, I'll never catch up.

Hi thanks for asking about me Leigh, actually yesterday was Leonard and my 44th anniversary but we were both not up to going out or anything, and today is windy and cold, soooo not likely to happen either LOL Tomorrow we have to clean a unit ( a quick turn around) on my b-day no less or well. I have basically given up painting for several years now. I still garden a little.
I loved those photos Cindy. I too love watching the birds and wildlife. We don't have a chipmunk, only raccoons, possums but lots of birds tho!
I am so sorry to hear Bruce is still suffering....keep us posted Cindy and I will keep praying.

Hi everyone. Sorry for my absence,I'm just exhausted dealing with everything. Bruce is doing ok now, at least he did ok yesterday and is at work again now. Hopefully it will continue, and I'll be able to sleep in soon. The doctors office called and said they're refering him to the neurologist and they'll call me with the appointment, and that he can pick up a script for more pain medicine today after work. that means another trip to Rindge to get them. I'm hoping he has enough to last him till Saturday so we can just go then instead.
I've got a lot of work to catch up on still, but cause I'm so tired it takes me longer to do it. Another reason for my absence.
It sounds like you had a great time Lulu, and I'm so glad you were able to go. Sounds like just what you needed!
Happy Anniversary Barbara! Hope you had a good day even if you couldn't do anything special.
Thank you all so much for your prayers!

Today we put Sinbad ( 20 year old cat) down...he was in a lot of pain and while waiting at vet's had a seizure.....both vets said, it was time, his health and age was too compromised.
I am glad Bruce will be able to see a specialist! Let us know when you can ( after you go of course) what they/he/she said.

(((Barb))), I'm so sorry to hear about Sinbad... love the photo of the rainbow bridge that Lulu posted. So sad when we lose a beloved pet, especially one who's been with us for so long.
Cindy, thank you for the update on Bruce and hope he's continuing to do okay. I've had a headache off and on since Sunday - thankfully it hasn't been too severe, but still it is SO draining and all I want to do is sleep.
We're under hurricane watch here; they're evacuating the SC coast & have made all the interstate lanes one way, this direction, so they've closed Columbia area schools for the rest of the week. They have to use our schools for shelters. We are waiting to hear from John's sister's family, who lives along the Georgia coast, to see if they will need to come stay with us. I just got back from the grocery store and stocked up on food, just in case. If they do come, I don't know how many people it will be so that makes it hard to plan.
Going with John to his GI appointment this afternoon. It's overcast today, but the bad weather isn't really supposed to hit for two more days.

Thank you Leigh and Seven. Kind of scary about the 'storm/hurricane' Leigh keep us posted.
I also have been having some serious headaches....not like Bruce of course,
but upsetting cuz I have had to increase pain meds, when I was happy I was able to take less all summer....but I guess that may be over during winter months....sigh!

If you see Weather channel Jim Cantore that give you sign get out of TOWNNNNN LOL! That old weather channel joke That's the truth! We cancelled our cable a few months ago in protest against rising costs, but I miss it so bad at times like this -- when there's a crisis and I'm not able to watch minute-by-minute coverage (we can watch the individual videos on the website, but that's not quite the same).
So we got a call a couple of hours ago and family will be coming to stay with us tomorrow, 10 of them, so I'm a little panicked about that. As of tonight I have no headache - PLEASE pray that it stays away! And also that I can be gracious towards everyone! I dearly love our family, don't get me wrong, but let's face it, that's a lot of extras to have in a house that has been a construction zone for such a long time. The plumbers are scheduled to be here at 9:00 tomorrow to put in our bathtub (that has been waiting out in the garage all summer), but the family won't arrive til later in the day so we're going ahead with the bathroom work.
Barb, about your headaches, I am sorry to hear about that and can empathize. Do you have any idea as to what's causing them? You mentioned the cooler weather - do you think that's the reason? Hope your medication is effective for them.

Leigh thank you for asking. I think the headaches are a combination of things, weather being just one. I am not sure of course, but because of the scoliosis and arthritis in my neck, combined with the weather... oh and also, sitting in a chair reading and computer head forward and somewhat down ( due to looking at book or computer) doubles or triples the weight of the head.....
which puts a lot of strain on shoulders and neck muscles that may somehow affect blood supply and who knows what else, to my head, which translates into headaches?
Let us know when you get a moment with 10 peeps in your home, how all that is going yikes!!

Wow Barb, no wonder your head is hurting, after all those things combined, as you said!
We got a text about an hour ago that the family got a late start so won't be here until tomorrow; they are going to spend the night along the way with another family out in the country. So now I can breathe a little! This is good because it gives me an extra night to get ready. Not that they will pay any attention to how things look, but I still feel better if things start out neat.
Remember the old HGTV show, "Mission Organization"? They'd go into a home that had maybe ONE room totally out of control, and help the people declutter and get it fixed up? I now have one of those rooms in my house! And I told Daniel, "Let's lock the door into that room and not let anyone go in!!" It's THAT bad!!

Ten????? I think I'd wind up locking myself in my bedroom!!! I've been praying that you would be pain free hon, and I surely hope you are. Please don't let yourself get stressed though... that can trigger a headache all by itself! Just remember, they all probably left their homes a mess, and if your house looks perfect it'll just make them feel like bad housekeepers! Leigh thank you for asking. I think the headaches are a combination of things, weather being just one. There you go! God had you covered the whole time! Just remember not to make your house look too good or you'll embarrass them LOL!
So far Bruce is doing very well. He's made it to work every day and still no headaches. I've been saying all week that if he makes it through to Saturday morning, I'll know it's completely over, so only 19 hours left to go now!

Columbia will be under tropical storm conditions tonight and tomorrow, with high winds and 1-2" rain predicted. We're a couple of hours from the coast, and that's where the main damage will be. Florida is being pounded right now and we have many more relatives and friends who live down there. We have one of John's sisters, her children & grandchildren coming, and one of his brothers & wife. They should be here before long and I need to use up some old bananas for banana bread.
SO glad Bruce is feeling better now!

I love that image Cindy. It's funny when we were in the vets saying goodby to Sinbad, one of the last things I said to him ( I am not sure he even heard me) was that he would soon be with Jesus.
Also thank you so much for your prayers, I am feeling a little better so far today.
We put out some suet for the birds and we have 3 or 4 different birds eating it.
It's the first time I have seen a Norther Flicker woodpecker up close...he has red cheeks and a black heart shape on his breast and red on his tail....he is very pretty... and plump!!! LOL
I am so glad you got another day Leigh but Cindy has a good point, you don't want to be soooo perfect a house cleaner that you make the others feel bad!
I have always felt like the world's worst homemaker But I did recently watch just one show of a series with people with OCD folks that were helping people with messy homes.
The one I watched was a woman who own a huge castle/estate in England....only I have never seen such a mess. The woman didn't really have running water at least not in the bathrooms so had not taken a bath in years and years....and the rats had eaten holes in a mattress ( where the OCD cleaners were supposed to stay for 5 days ( they could not stay over night, tho they did clean.....the woman would only allow them to use water....she had wonderful antiques but they had pounds of dirt, dust, etc. etc. She had accumulated more stuff than 100 families could have used. Anyway, I realized there was at least one person on earth more messy than me! So tho you don't need to be THAT laid back, LOL but Cindy is right, people can feel bad when they see a perfect house ( rather than a home). Tho it sounds to me ( yum banana bread...can I come too??) like you have a cozy home!!

Barb, I've been praying for your comfort since your cat died. We get so attached to our pets. Tomorrow it will be 2 years since we had to put down our dog (she had heart disease) and I still miss her.
Last night we went to our son's town to hear his son play in the school orchestra. He plays the bass. The traffic was so bad at that time of day (5 pm) it took us over an hour to get there. But we had a good time with them. His other grandmother attended too and we hadn't seen her in a while.
Much cooler today. I got a flu shot this morning and my arm is still sore. I make sure to ask the nurse to put it in my right arm since I'm left handed. I've been reading "Lessons From a Sheep Dog" by Phillip Keller. It's a good book.
Hugs to all.

Those poor OCD cleaners, how they must have cringed to touch anything in that place!!!
I'm not that great a housekeeper at all, although there's nothing I love better than a neat, clean, and COZY home. The banana bread came out of the oven right before company arrived and that definitely added to the cozy factor. (And YES Barbara, of course you may come too! You're all invited!)
But anyway, I wanted to let you know that things are going well so far with our 10 guests, and ask you to pray. My nephew brought a friend along who boards with him; the young man is here temporarily from India and he is Hindu. I found out that he attended Catholic school as a child, but that he likes to pull from all religions and live by the highest tenets all of them; he said Hinduism is not so much a religion as it is a way of life. Talk about having the mission field brought to our door!! Please pray that we make some kind of impact on him. He is SO nice.
Margie, sounds like a nice time attending the orchestra concert. Your grandson plays the big string bass? That must be a fun instrument to play! Hope your arm recovers soon from the flu shot.
Hope everyone has a great weekend ahead!
