Hello everyone! Welcome, Nigel2! Well speaking of weather, it is finally back to normal for this time of year. For the last couple of weeks in December it was rainy and HOT, relatively speaking - for winter. It was pretty much just awful, weather-wise. After all the flooding we had back in the fall -- it wasn't as bad as then, but we've had many days of continuous drizzle alternating with heavy rainfall and some of the previously-damaged areas started being affected again. And the temps were up in the 70s, so because of the high humidity we had to run the A/C during that time. Also some of the spring flowers and trees were budding. FINALLY on Saturday the sun returned (YAY!!!) and it started getting cooler so we were able to turn the heat back on. Not that I like cold weather either (I don't!), but for this time of year it is supposed to be cold and besides, it kills the flies. School started back yesterday and things are returning to normal. Last week I posted on FB that my Daniel slit his finger open (loading a gun) and had to get three stitches. With two boys this is the first accident requiring "urgent care" -- so I don't think that's too bad in 22 years! (My little sister and I had both had stitches due to accidents by the time we were 10 years old!) Anyway Daniel's healing up nicely and is planning to remove his stitches HIMSELF (he had a single stitch last summer when he had to have a tick cut out of his leg, and he removed that one by himself... the things you can learn on Youtube!). My Precept class starts up again this week; we will be doing book two of the Hebrews study, and also, Dr. McGee started teaching thru Revelation this week on Thru the Bible ( www.ttb.org ), so I am hoping to not miss a day of that study. Getting ready to begin a January project: repainting the vanity in our master bath. I did the boys' bathroom vanity last year and it turned out nicely so hope this will also. So that's what's happening in this neck of the woods. Lulu, I hope things at work return to normal for you today, because there's not much worse than sitting around at a job with nothing to do.

Helped hubby rake leaves - had 4 bags of them. Going to exercise tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good week. Margie, I'd think doing all that raking would count as exercise for at least a week! well, it was the MOST boring day ever, there was nothing to do. they are changing things around again...and tuning up the machines we work with. they had this past two weeks to do this, but no, it's happen now...so I was sitting and scanning paper work into the computer system all day...ugh....not a bad day, but not a good day either.... thanks for the prayers... Cindy, sending up prayer for you also... Thanks Lulu, I appreciate it. I'm sorry it was such a boring day for you yesterday. I hope they got it all done so you can get back to your regular job today. Kind of gloomy and colder here. Hi Nigel, nice to see you. Do we know you from the old board? I'm afraid my memory isn't holding onto things like it used to, but you seem familiar to me...
Well it got downright cold last night especially like they said it would. Problem is that since I wasn't feeling well, I forgot all about it, and Bruce fell asleep in his chair after work. So we didn't leave the water running. And you guessed it, we woke up to frozen pipes this morning. I've been setting my alarm since the end of Bruce's vacation as I know it'll take him a few days to get back in the habit of getting up on time for work, so this way I can wake him up. So I was the one to discover there was no water. But since I always keep 5 or more gallons of water on hand "just in case", I was able to make him some coffee anyway. So at least he didn't have to go work without having that first. I've got the heater set up in front of his bathroom pipes in hopes that it'll thaw them out. But it's really going to take God to do that since it's not supposed to get above 20 today. Tomorrow it's supposed to get up to 36, so hopefully they'll thaw by then.
I've got what might be good news about the bed I need, but I'll post that in the thread for it.... For now, I need to go get my second cup of coffee....really need it this morning!

Hi Cindy -- looks like we posted on top of each other! So sorry about your frozen pipes; will add that to my prayers for the day, that they'll thaw. When you said you always keep five or more gallons of water, do you mean individual gallon jugs of water that you buy at the store, or do you have a larger container that you fill yourself? Looking forward to reading your HOPEFULLY good news about the bed.

from Cindy: "Margie, I'd think doing all that raking would count as exercise for at least a week!"
Well actually, hubby raked and I bagged. So he did most of the work.
Leigh, I'm listening to Dr. McGee on Through the Bible too. In my area he's on at 5:30 AM, so I listen in the afternoon on the internet. He is so much better than some of the preachers I've heard discussing this book.
Welcome, Nigel2!

It is a shopping day for me today, so I will be gone most of the day. I hope your water is working today Cindy. I sure do like you tube also Leigh. I have read info. about solar panels lately, and I don't like what I have read, I don't like them and what goes along with them. But a lot to learn from other people there and also I like the old movies from the 1940's. Margie, it must make you feel good to get some yard work done like raking and bagging some leaves, do you use the leaves as mulch for your garden or flowers? Lulu, I hope you are back to doing your regular job at work.

Looking forward to reading your HOPEFULLY good news about the bed. I have milk cartons that I washed out and saved for that purpose as well as a few juice bottle that I washed out and saved for that as well. I've kept at least 5 gallons of water saved for more years than I can remember. I don't need it very often but when I do, it sure comes in handy! Thank you for your prayers. Bruce started up a huge heater outside aimed at the pipes. It took about an hour, but they finally thawed, thank God!
Oh, I posted it in the thread To all who live with severe chronic back pain

He is so much better than some of the preachers I've heard discussing this book. Welcome, Nigel2! Even that's gotta count for something though lol Speaking of great preachers, I heard one of MacArthur's sermons a month or so ago and was fascinated by it, and then yesterday came across a short rendition of it on his blog. So I posted that and included the actual sermon at the end in case anyone wanted to hear it. It was fantastic!!!! It's this thread: Kicking at God's RestraintsIt is a shopping day for me today, so I will be gone most of the day. I hope your water is working today Cindy. I sure do like you tube also Leigh. Cindy, praying you feel better and the water is running for ya today! The water is running, but I'm afraid that I'm much sicker than I thought I was. Just got back from the doctor, my neighbor took me. I'm waiting now to see if someone can pick up some meds for me...hopefully very soon as I need them badly.I think Jenn's at work though, which means she won't get home till noon, so it's going to be several hours at least before I can get them. Wish I could call her at work..... Maybe I'll try....

Cindy, were you able to get your medicine? I hope so, and pray that it's doing you some good already.
Woke up with a migraine yesterday but seem to be better today. Getting ready to go to my Precept class; barely got my homework finished.
Hope everyone has a nice day.

and it's still raining...Anna, you've got a ton of rain and thunder storms on the way, I pray the storm system doesn't get worse on the way....We had a good thunder storm last nite, I only heard the beginning,as I was falling to sleep, the kids got to hear most of it, kids, meaning Matt and Rebecca.. yesterday was a good day at work, got to sit and do my job all day...over 700 boards! running them through the AOI machine, Automatic Optical Inspection....also did some inspection under the scope....so it was a good day... Cindy, glad things worked out with your pipes and water! sorry your not well, sending up prayers for you and every one....I don't get the chance as often as I use to, too write in my prayer journal, as our house if full and nosier these days, but every time I walk the Boy, I think of all of you as I talk to the Lord...I try to make it look like I'm talking to Boy, so people don't think I'm completely nuts..lol...and with all this rain, I can't stop and sit and write somewhere quiet...

Good day! I had fun this morning. First I was outside shoveling snow early in the morning and then after breakfast the dogs and I went outside to walk and play in the snow before the snow disappears. I think it will rain soon. I was able to buy some new warm boots to wear this winter and they are getting all wet now from being outside.

Getting ready to go to my Precept class; barely got my homework finished. Hope everyone has a nice day. Yes, thank you. Jenn brought it to me a few hours later. I'm finally feeling a bit more human and not in as much pain as I was either. I'm sorry I didn't come in this thread yesterday, but I badly wanted to post a few articles and simply didn't have the strength to do any more then that. Hope you all don't mind.
I'm so sorry you had another migraine. that's got to be just awful! Praying you'll be completely over it now. Are you still on Hebrews? I'd be happy to talk to you about it if you ever want to and try and find some answers to help you understand the parts you have trouble with. I don't mean to imply that I already understand them, only that I'd be happy to study them myself and share what I find with you.
Here is some weather news to help us understand what is going on with the weather. Thanks Anna, that's very nice of you to share with us. How are you doing? and it's still raining...Anna, you've got a ton of rain and thunder storms on the way, I pray the storm system doesn't get worse on the way....We had a good thunder storm last nite, I only heard the beginning,as I was falling to sleep, the kids got to hear most of it, kids, meaning Matt and Rebecca.. yesterday was a good day at work, got to sit and do my job all day...over 700 boards! running them through the AOI machine, Automatic Optical Inspection....also did some inspection under the scope....so it was a good day... Lulu, I can just imagine you trying to look like you're talking to the dog instead of the Lord but then remember dog is God spelled backwards LOL My favorite time to pray when I was working was when I was driving as no one could interrupt me. (back then there were no cell phones, at least I didn't have one anyway lol, and for that reason alone, wouldn't want one) Bruce did get me one once, but I never turned it on unless I was out of the car. In fact, I hardly used it at all. I can only remember using it a few times one weekend when I spent the weekend at work staying overnight, so I used it to talk to Bruce lol. I didn't have to, I could have used the house phone, but figured since he bought it I should use it at least a couple of times.... Good day! I had fun this morning. First I was outside shoveling snow early in the morning and then after breakfast the dogs and I went outside to walk and play in the snow before the snow disappears. I think it will rain soon. I was able to buy some new warm boots to wear this winter and they are getting all wet now from being outside. Wow, you got snow instead of rain? How fun! What snow we got has turned to ice as it's been so cold. I'm glad you were able to have some fun in it though!
I'm going to get going and post because I have a couple of things the Lord has shared with me the last couple of days that I want to share with everyone. I'll post links to them soon.

this week seemed to take for ever, but it's ok, life is going by way to fast as it is, so I'm trying not to wish my week away so fast these days... Cindy I'm the same way about my cell phone...I have with me most the time, but I hardly use it or even look at it....I've missed many texted and calls...lol.. Ron needs to upgraded phone cause of work, but I don't...

I didn't even realize it was Friday yesterday. When I got up today, I tried to tell Bruce he was going to be late for work lol. Of course he then told me it was Saturday. Guess I've lost a few days being sick. That means I need to find out when and if the kids are coming over. Looks like we got more snow last night too. It's really beautiful outside now.

I use some for the compost pile, but really don't have room for all of them. I don't do much in the yard anymore so I don't even turn over the compost pile like I used to.
Thursday and Friday our granddaughter had 4 soccer games, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. She played at a high school near us so we went to all the games and came home for lunch. Her team won the first 3 but lost the last game.
Today is much colder. Doing laundry. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Good Morning all! Finally feeling human again, praise God! I was really beginning to wonder yesterday.
I can tell you're not at all affected by being off work for a couple of days Lulu!
Wow, Margie, that's a lot of games to play in one day! I wouldn't think a coach would allow it as the kids were probably exhausted by the last game. It sounds like they did really well though.
I did nothing but rest again yesterday, but it paid off and I'm feeling better. Weirdly, after it finally turned winter here and we got the snow and it stayed, it's now been raining here for the last two days! Strangely enough, it hasn't yet melted all the snow though. It's supposed to go up to 50 today, which is like spring for us, but then we're back to winter tonight with a low of 26. Weird huh?
The Lord's been so good to me while I was sick. Sometimes I think we have our best conversations when I'm sick and it seems He shows me the most then, or at least the most in one sitting. Maybe it's just my imagination that I learn even more when I'm sick, I don't know, but I do know that I really appreciate that He makes sure I know He's with me during those times.
That reminds me, I thought of something this morning that I wanted to share. It something I'm going to have to reflect on for some time to work out as it really took me by surprise. I'll post it in the "Church" forum.

Cindy, I didn't explain clearly enough. My granddaughter's team played a total of 4 games - one in the morning and one in the afternoon on Thursday and Friday.
Lots of sunshine but cold! Quite a few of our ladies missed Sunday School. It was just too cold for them to get out, especially the ones who are on walkers.

Oh, I see Margie, I'm sorry I misunderstood. That makes a lot more sense though.
Poor Lulu, back to the work day world, huh? Sorry hon. I hope you had a wonderful weekend though.
The kids couldn't come over this weekend. Well, they were going to anyway, but I told them to stay home as the fog here was terrible. Between that and all the rain, I just didn't want them out in it when it wasn't necessary. I figured I could get my "fix" by talking to them daily till next weekend
I hope everyone really did have a good weekend though. We did. I didn't do much at all except rest, but I think that's exactly what I needed. I felt much better yesterday and seem to be pretty much back to normal today. Took the last of my antibiotics yesterday too, so I'm all set.

We did have a very nice weekend. although Ron stayed hunkered down all weekend, not feeling well still. but he did make it to work today... this coming weekend is a Jazzy weekend, I sure have missed her! Saturday our Netty is taking Matt, Jazzy and I to a SpaceX launch...it's happening here in California this time...only a couple hours drive. we will be leaving sometime on Saturday, and spending the nite, the launch is Sunday around 10 am.....so I'm looking forward to a nice weekend!

It's been what I consider frigid here (although Cindy, Catt & Marianne would laugh since they know what cold REALLY is! Lulu too, since she's originally from New England). But compared to how hot it was in December, it is really cold now. Kel, it's so good to see you back in here, even if only for a moment. Cindy, thankful to hear you are feeling better. I don't blame you for not wanting Jenn's family to risk driving through the fog to see you over the weekend. Lulu, wow you have an exciting weekend ahead with Jazzy and spending time with Netty too! How are things going with your long-term visitors? Anna, sounds like you've had some really cold weather too, and I'm glad you got you some winter boots beforehand! Had a nice day; John worked from home today and we did a few errands and went to lunch at a sandwich shop downtown called No Name Deli - a great little place with Bible verses everywhere. I posted a couple of pictures of it on FB. I had their homemade veggie soup w/cornbread and it was amazing! Cindy, you mentioned discussing Hebrews; this week we're at the end of chapter 5 and chapter 6 (in our Precept lesson), on maturity. It is a very good study. Also listening to Dr. McGee's teaching through Revelation, although with our busy-ness today I forgot to listen, so will have to make that one up tomorrow.

At first I thought everyone was nuts for wearing heavy winter coats when I was in a tshirt LOL, but the next year, I was huddled in a coat too as my body had acclimated by then LOL
Oh my, for some reason I thought you were either almost done with it, or had already finished it! Don't know why I thought that lol, but I did.... I'm glad you're enjoying it.

Have fun this weekend Lulu, that sounds like you will have a good time with your family. I saw news today that made me laugh, a driverless car was out of control and was doing donuts on a busy street. There was a man on the hood of the car trying to stop the car but it crashed and smashed up the front of the car. The man did not know what went wrong with the car and a police office said it must have been a mechanical error. It seems like those driverless cars are not working out as well as they are suppose to. Gota go for now, Anna

wow, it's already Thursday....where did the week go? My sense of time is really off lately...ever since I got sick I guess.
If you all think of it, would you keep my oldest daughter, Michelle, and her husband, Ron, in prayer? Ron's in the hospital and they think he may have had a heart attack, but last I heard weren't sure yet. Plus, on top of that, awhile ago Michelle has been having some health problems too.
Hope you all have a good day. I'm going to go check the other posts now.
