[smear:#e61943]Hebrews 13: 17-19
17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. 18 Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things. 19 I urge you the more earnestly to do this in order that I may be restored to you the sooner.[/smear:#130d90:1]
When our pastors rightly speak from God's Word, we are to be obedient to them ( but really to God). This is not suggesting they are to be like the pope, or a king, or some tyrant ( like a Jim Jones etc.) This is about godly pastors preaching God authoritative word, and being obedient thus to the Word, the Bible, God Himself.
This is especially needed in today;s world, where we worship our being free, being an individual, a rebel thumbing our nose at authority, spouting your truth is yours, and mine is mine there is no absolute truth ( which is saying, nothing is true.....until ....I steal your things, shoot you in the leg because my truth says I can, rape your sister, etc.)
Also our pastors are going to be held to a higher standard, as they will be held accountable for their charge over us. They are to preach, teach, protect, pray about etc. their flock they have been given to watch over. They have authority.....but they are not the absolute authority only God is.
Also there are elders which ought to be a guard against any abuse, and we can and should check the scriptures ourselves.
I really like that our pastor always writes in the study notes the scriptures he talks on each Sunday, they are also on the screen etc.
Anyway, we can be grateful for the work they do, so they don't end up doing a constant thankless task, being constantly unappreciated and even often opposed, so much it leads them to groaning, grief, sorrow, lamenting, and discouragement.
Rather with joy ( there's that word again LOL) Because if we cause them grief, it is not profitable to us. Instead let us pray for them!! They are in battle for us and need our prayers, for strength to stand strong. We are to encourage our pastors

Well, I am sort of feeling better from the cold.....I have had a few nights not sleeping and other nights of sleeping fairly well....to really really good.
I haven't slept much for the last 7 days; and last night I didn't sleep at all. I've been up working on my bible study all night till now since I couldn't sleep. I'm finally getting groggy enough that I could probably go to sleep now...yeah, and get my schedule all messed up...I don't think so. I'll just have to make myself stay awake all day somehow.
I'm glad you're starting to feel better and hope you both are completely over it soon.

I am so sorry to hear you are not sleeping well or at all! That is definitely not fun, and not good for one's body, as sleeping helps us heal....well at least to some extent sigh! I will continue praying for you.
I do think my cold may be gone.... tho there has been a wee bit of vertigo hanging on.....but its mild.
Leonard's seems's gone as well....except now he has a wheeze ???
I found out the loud crash yesterday was a light fixture, because Rylan was bouncing a ball in the house.....but the glass was really bad....it went everywhere....thankfully it did not land on any of the kids!!!

this is the last 3 verses....so I will start a new Bible Study on End times tomorrow.
[smear:#a51360]Hebrews 13:22-25
Final Greetings 22 I appeal to you, brothers, bear with my word of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly. 23 You should know that our brother Timothy has been released, with whom I shall see you if he comes soon. 24 Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those who come from Italy send you greetings. 25 Grace be with all of you.[/smear:#29667a:1]
It is kind of funny, the author says his words of exhortation were 'brief'...
In today's world, where young people cannot bear watch a youtube video much over 3 mins the very idea that 13 chapters is 'brief 'is funny.....but very sad!!! Many of today's people have the itchy ear syndrome. ..entertain me.
But really there was so much covered (especially dealing with persecution, false leaders, obedience and submission etc.) that even 13 chapters was short, compared to how much could have been said.
We need to take care how we listen to exhortations, that we might obey the Word of God.
The writer tell his hearers to be aware of Timothy's release....how does to apply to us? I am thinking, one thing may be to be caring for the brethren, to pay attention to their needs for prays, and any way we can show love to each other.
Even the seemingly small gesture of greeting each other is to be obeyed. For the longest time, I would cringe when the pastor ( past ones and for a short while even our pastor now) Would have us all stand and greet those around us....
I am shy and even doing that cause stress.....but strangely....somehow that has mostly changed? I don't know if its that our church has a lot of kind, friendly, interesting, godly etc etc. brothers and sisters or we've been going faithfully for such awhile that we just are beginning to know more and more or God has done a work in me or a combo of all of the above
But what used to be terrifying....is now almost totally fun ( I might still have a moment where I worry what to say, etc. but its brief and then gone) In fact, our pastor often has to corral us like sheep to get us all to stop talking LOL :D That's what he gets haha :P
And the writer ends with grace be with us all...... Unmerited favor....so beautiful.....love in action....we don't deserve it, but God is with us, and gives it freely.

OK, now this was just plain weird. I didn't see anything new yesterday, but that's because you hadn't posted yet. No big deal. But today I looked twice and even refreshed the page and yet saw nothing since your post on December 10th. It didn't even show my last post, so I thought it hadn't posted for some reason. So I just posted that I was really worried because you hadn't posted in two days, and then, when it showed my post, Then I was finally able to see your last two posts! That's just really weird!
That's great that you're both feeling better! I finally got some sleep last night, so I'm doing better too.
this is the last 3 verses....so I will start a new Bible Study on End times tomorrow.
