Lulu and Cheryl, I was surprised today by what I saw while driving down the Interstate. There was a car parked off the Interstate on the right side and a semi-truck in front of me. The semi-truck went off the highway and was going right toward that car, then the semi-truck driver jerked the cab of the truck back onto the highway and just missed hitting that car. Then I saw him do the same thing again, jerked the cab of the truck back onto the highway. I thought to myself that there must not be much weight in the trailer the way he did not and did not have a problem, the trailer followed ok. After I saw that I passed that truck up in the left lane to get away from that truck driver. I wonder if the guy was starting to fall asleep.

Anna, yes he was probably falling asleep! When I see that sort of thing, and I‘ve seen this a lot out here, and being on the freeway so early in the AM, I call 911 and report it! Out here the 911 operator connects you right with the cops, so you can tell them exactly where you are, and the name on the truck or the plate number. Sad really they should pull off the freeways when their that tired....we lost some one close from that very thing...an 18 wheeler drifted off the road and hit a tow truck driver, just doing his job helping someone on the side of the freeway....dead! he was our son Johnny’s close friend...so sad...😢 glad your ok though, and you got away from him..... well, home with the ol'man this day...got a doctors appointment. first in 13 years, other then seeing my Chiropractor every so often. and I did get to see this doctor once 3 years ago, but that was it, just once, then our insurance changed, and his practice didn't except it, and my work coverage has been the worst coverage ever for all these years. but this year it changed yet again, to a good insurance company and that doctor I saw once excepts it. so off I go to see him again finally.

Hi Everyone! Bruce had the stress test yesterday but wasn't able to finish it. Not because of his heart, but because of his back. Even the little he did has caused the swelling to come back and the pain as well. I feel awful that I even suggested he try it. Everything he did up to the point he had to stop though was fine. We're going to see the cardiologist again in a couple of months and decide if he wants to try it again or just give up.
We're under heat advisories for yesterday and today again. Once again it's going to be at least 100 with the humidity high as well. I'm ready for snow and ice now! I promise I won't complain this winter!

The temperature here every day is about 90*. It is ok in the shade but hot in the sun. That dog was having a bad hair day. I sold my car that had ac, now I drive in the truck with no ac and the windows down, I have to wear a bandanna to keep my hair in place, otherwise, I would look like that dog. haha oh well. Glad you got some good insurance Lulu. Sorry to read about the stress test causing back pain for Bruce, may he heal quickly.

Hello friends, happy Thursday. I've been off for 7 days and start my work week again today, with Sunday & Monday off as the office is closed those days. Thursday is our late day, so I go in noon to 8 p.m., which is why I have time to catch up a little here on FH.
Ruthanne, how wonderful to hear an update on your life and family, and to answer your question (if you see this), you asked if John lost his job and the answer is no, but Cindy prays that he'll find something else because he travels all the time. (Thank you Cindy!) He actually did have another opportunity recently, but it still would've involved lots of travel (flying), which is worse as far as I'm concerned because at least with driving (as he does now) he can stop when he needs to.
Cindy, I was sorry to hear about Bob's work situation and wonder if anything has opened up since you posted about it? The news talks about unemployment being at an all-time low, but still I know people out of work and maybe there aren't as many jobs available up where you live.
Sorry too to hear that Bruce couldn't complete his treadmill test. After what he went through with the accident, that comes as no surprise! Sounds painful to think about him even trying to do that test. Saying a prayer right now for both Bob and Bruce and their situations.
Lulu, I didn't even realize you had a step-son! You've probably mentioned it and I forgot, but anyway, that is good to know. Hope all went well with your physical. Such a shame that insurance costs so much yet often covers so little. (I'm not even going to START on that or I'll be here ranting all day, lol!) Always enjoy seeing your pictures/videos you post on FB about your weekends. Your church always reminds me of mine, with lots of opportunities for fellowship. How soon do you think you'll be moving?
Anna, how's your sewing project coming along? I used to love sewing, but have not done anything other than repairs/hems, in quite awhile. I bought a low-end Brother sewing machine last fall at Costco and have had the hardest time working that thing. I really need to sit down and spend some time trying to alter some of my clothes so they'd fit me better, but never seem to do it. Any word on the man you requested prayer for, Gerrhard?
Cheryl, those stories you told about your near-misses when driving a truck!! Goodness I am thankful the Lord always kept you safe!! Very frightening to have such close calls!
Margie, how is your daughter doing with two of her children away at school? It's an adjustment, for sure. Has she moved to Alabama yet (and, what part?). I hope all goes well with that move!
Barb, how old is Devon now? Regarding homeschooling, although the topics get more complicated as they get older, the students also [ideally] become more independent learners so that the parents' job is more to oversee & coordinate, than to actually teach. So in theory, it's easier when they're older than when they're younger! I know you'd be an excellent teacher for him, if you ever decide to take it on.
Okay I've written half a book already, but am not quite done.
PRAYER REQUEST! Daniel's 2nd year college classes began last week and he would appreciate prayer for his physics and calculus classes, in particular. Apparently calculus was a prerequisite for physics and his advisor didn't tell him AND approved him for the class. Daniel could (and probably should??) drop it, but he said he's going to continue it anyway. Please, if you could, we'd be so grateful if you'd ask the Lord to grant understanding in these courses, so he can do well. Thank you all!! He is keeping super-busy and I pray he can stay healthy and have a great year.
I took Nala the pit bull to be spayed yesterday (with the unwilling help of John). Since she's my GRAND-DOG I was not SUPPOSED to have to do that , but it's too long a story to tell, but anyway, I got her back this morning (with the help of Timothy's friend) (again, GRANDMA was not supposed to do that EITHER!!! but there you go). Anyway, she's downstairs now in her crate with the "cone of shame" around her neck to keep from biting her incision, and she thinks I'm the meanest person in the world for doing that to her.
Last thing (I'm about out of time here... gotta get ready for work), two weeks ago we lost a dear friend unexpectedly. He was hospitalized and in serious condition, but still, the Lord took him suddenly and it came as a terrible shock. I posted about it on FB so you might've seen it, but his family gave the most amazing memorial service for him! He has three grown sons and they sat on stage with their instruments and sang & told stories about his life and it was just fantastic. Then they put up a website with photos and a link to the service. If you have a spare hour and would like to watch a Christ-honoring, uplifting and FUN memorial, here it is:
If you only have several minutes, you've GOT to hear the song at 3:45 (How Great Thou Art, a cappella) AND, at 18:00 a funny story followed by his son singing I Can Only Imagine AND, at 59:00 our friend singing Thank You for Giving to the Lord - beautiful!

Yeah, the news hear talks about how low unemployment is too, which always gets Bruce angry lol. He says that they base their statistics on how many people are getting unemployment and not how many are actually not working. Many people who don't have a job yet, can't get any more unemployment, so it makes it look like unemployment is low when in actuality it isn't.
Bob hasn't been hired yet, although he's put in many applications again, and is continuing to look. We sure appreciate any prayers any of you can send up for him!
Thank you for your prayers too Lorrie! Bruce is doing better now. In fact, he went in to work early today. Well, early for him, lol, since he's only been working 7 hours a day. He told me this morning that he plans to go in early tomorrow too and if possible start doing 8 hours a day next week.
I've added your prayer request to my list Lorrie, and will pray for that for him!
I've got that video saved so I can watch it on my kindle this afternoon as I can't listen to anything on my computer anymore. I can't wait to see it!
Thanks for stopping by and letting us know how your doing too! I've missed hearing from you!

From Leigh: "Margie, how is your daughter doing with two of her children away at school? It's an adjustment, for sure. Has she moved to Alabama yet (and, what part?). I hope all goes well with that move!"
My daughter misses the 2 who are at college but I hope she can adjust. She and her husband will be with them at Thanksgiving at their school. No, she hasn't moved to Alabama yet and that move might not happen. Her husband was laid off from his new job there. After they had bought a house! I think he could get a job with another company in Alabama. I haven't talked to her much yet. She has a lot going on. My husband and I are still going to move to the Dallas area so we can be closer to our son, just like we planned. I've never really liked this area that much. I think that in the future my daughter and her husband will move. We will probably move in November.
Still hot here.

Leigh, I skipped through that memorial video and that was so well done and encouraging to see. I also have the low-end Brother sewing machine and had problems with using it but for some reason, it is working well now without those problems, I did buy some oil and oiled the moving parts. Saying prayer for your prayer request. I feel Gerrhard who was so self-condemning is doing better now, pastor Scott told him to stop typing words that put himself down, that he does not want to read it. Gerrard did mention that he stopped taking some medicine and after that, he does seem to be doing better, thank the Lord, people were praying for him. If you like sugar but wish you could avoid it here is a sugar substitute that Starry a christian woman and nurse recommend, I am going to buy some from amazon, people say it tastes just sugar, it is Monkfruit sweetener classic Lakanto brand. In the news today I heard about bulletproof backpacks being sold in Israel for school children, and also in China kindergarten children are being taught by a-i robots. Changing times.

pray you all had a nice weekend. ours was pretty cool. the kids were around off and on all weekend, the girls went to church with Ron and I, then on Monday we got a cool gift...well not a gift for anything, like birthday or anniversary, but a gift just the same, a free, yes FREE fridge! ours has been going out for a almost 2 years, dripping water every where, but she still worked...Ron saw on our neighborhood page someone was getting rid of a Kenmore, silver and black, cause they were getting a new one! only a couple years old and working fine! Ron had to do a little remolding to get the fit, but he did it in a couple hours!
anyway, good three days off for sure, now back to dysfunction, ugh I don't like dysfunction.....

Lorrie, I loved that video and as you know, sent it to everyone in my family! It's fantastic!!! That one part would be great as a sermon even!
From Leigh: "Margie, how is your daughter doing with two of her children away at school? It's an adjustment, for sure. Has she moved to Alabama yet (and, what part?). I hope all goes well with that move!"

That's a really rotten thing for a company to do! At the very least they should offer to pay him to move wherever he wants to! Grrrrr! When I hear things like that, it just makes me long for Jesus to be ruling this planet, so that things would be done justly!
I used to live in Garland, Texas, which is in the Dallas area. I can't say I liked it, but it wasn't bad either. Everything in Texas is just so flat....I much prefer seeing mountains, or at least hills lol. But it was pretty in it's own way. Leigh, I skipped through that memorial video and that was so well done and encouraging to see. How much longer until you can retire Lulu? It's been very hot here again too, so that we've been having extreme heat warnings again. Everyone's wishing for winter and snow here LOL and I have to admit, I am too. I've had more then enough of this heat! Ouch....I just realized that I'm complaining yet again, and we're told not to do that. Guess I'd better go talk to the Lord about it and ask His forgiveness. Seems like every time I turn around I've sinned. At least the Lord knows I try not to though. I do appreciate it when He shows me my sins though, because at least then I can work not to do them again. But this one keeps coming back it seems. I do well for a time, and then I seem to forget about it. Especially as it concerns the weather. I guess it's because it's so common for people to complain about it that it's hard for me to remember not to. If any of you guys catch me complaining about something again, would you please bring it to my attention? I promise I won't get upset! I'll actually be very thankful as I want to please the Lord.
I have another prayer request for you all too, if you don't mind. Remember that I told you my daughter Jennifer's husband, Bob, got laid off yet again? Well he still hasn't been able to get another job and money is a big problem. Please pray that the Lord will provide for their needs and that Bob will get a good, stable job, here locally and right away. We'd really appreciate it! Thanks so very much!
I also have another miracle to share, but it's still ongoing, so I want to wait a bit to see what else will happen before I do!
I hope everyone has a great day today! I love you guys!

Thanks for the prayers Lulu! We're under another heat warning with high temps and humidity. It's been like this all week again. I hate it! Poor Angel has had to have double the amount of prednisone this summer every time this has happened. That's another reason I hate it so much. Oops, there I go again... sigh. Thankfully though it's supposed to start cooling off at least somewhat soon.

I have heard that it is unusually warm in the northeast for this time of year. We here are having normal temps. but extra rain.
I hope things get better organized for you soon Lulu. I wish for that here where I live, but that is just about getting work done, and you are thinking about moving to another state, that is a lot of organizing that needs to be done. I will say a prayer about it, we need the Lord's help. So far today I have accomplished doing two loads of laundry. I will be doing extra washing because it is time to wash some winter blankets and clothes to have ready. I also killed a spider. I saw a large turtle when taking the dogs for a walk today. I don't get to see many of them and only this time of year. I felt like picking up the turtle or bring it inside the home with me, but I left it where it belongs.

Yes, I heard we broke another record day before yesterday. We didn't have any internet yesterday so couldn't watch the weather, but it wouldn't surprise me if we broke yet another record yesterday too.
I had a "pet" turtle when I was 12. I can't remember how I got it though, or what happened to it....Happy Friday! have a ton of work so today will go by fast, but also have source inspectors from JPL coming in. they are usually fun to work with....
That's good! It always helps to have people you like to work with. That's why I'm so thankful for the job Bruce has.
Bob got a job yesterday and starts on Monday, praise God! Unfortunately it was through a temp agency and will be a long commute, but it's better than nothing and he can continue to look for one closer to home. Thank you for your prayers!

Hello everyone. I'm sorry I've been so AWOL.
Just a few notes though, because it's after 1am now, and my back is really killing me, sitting in this chair. But, I wanted to catch up on everyone, so here I sit.
Anna, yes, that trucker was falling asleep at the wheel. I'm glad you got around him and away from him, and I hope he found a place to pull off and stop to sleep.
But, there is one thing that is so important. Not just for professional drivers, but for any drivers. It is very easy to fall asleep at the wheel, without knowing that you're even tired. I know.........I've done it. But, all too often, you have someone like the one you described and he is trying to force himself to keep driving.
Cindy and Lorrie, my prayers were on their way up, when I read your requests. I'm so happy that Bob found work and will continue to pray that the Lord will lead him where He wants him to be.
Now I've gone and forgotten what I wanted to reply to, but speaking of being tired, I think I'll go lay down. A lot of mental exhaustion going on with me, lately, and all I want to do is sleep and sleep and sleep.
OH, one of the things I wanted to reply to. Lulu, I had to look up that coffee pot, and watched a couple of Youtube videos, and that's pretty neat, and would be something to have handy, in the event of a power outage too. I too have a hard time keeping coffee pots. Presently, though, I have a BUNN and it's keeping with me. But, I don't use it near as often as I used to. When my sister was here, she kept it going morning, noon and night. WAAAAY too much coffee for an already hateful, hyper individual, but she's gone now. Good riddance.

it's a beautiful morning here, slept in, 77degrees out, 75 humidity! another melting day.... Cheryl, good to hear from you, I was thinking (praying) about/for you the other day cause I haven't seen you here.
I understand about the back thing, after sitting all day at work then sitting here, I have to lay flat, one reason I go to bed so early...but for me, I think it's mostly my eyes, they get so tired....

I never knew there was such a thing as a french press for coffee, looks interesting, I will think about getting one, seems like it would be fun to try out, I know the coffee makers I buy only last 2 years, so do the reclining chairs, computer chair and faucet, about 2 years.
Cheryl dear I was thinking about you, glad you wrote. Rest all you want, that is what you need to do.
Jeff and I had a rough day yesterday talking to Gerhard as he fell back to a darkness inside of him, but all worked out good and today he apologized for the what he was saying. What he was saying was not making any sense, but what worried me is after a while I think I was starting to understand him. He is a man that lets his weakness be seen in a public forum, that is not easy to do, so we have respect towards him.
Oh and Cheryl, If my sister and I ever visited we would both say good riddance. She thinks she is better than me because she has always had more money than me, the poor woman would have to suffer just being around me and I would have to suffer being around her personality. Also, she is still jealous that I got more attention from our mom and dad than she got. I was the baby of the family and I played that to my best ability to get an advantage and it worked.

I'm glad that at least there's one less stress in your life Cheryl. I hope things continue to get better.

And here I thought we went to bed earlier than anyone as we go to bed at 9pm. What time do you go to bed Lulu?I never knew there was such a thing as a french press for coffee, looks interesting, I will think about getting one, seems like it would be fun to try out, I know the coffee makers I buy only last 2 years, so do the reclining chairs, computer chair and faucet, about 2 years.

All those things only last 2 years??? Wow! We've had our recliners and computer chair for over 18 years! They need to be replaced as they're getting pretty ragged, but we still use them. I know we've had our coffeepot for over two years too, but can't remember when we bought it.

After all the heat we've had, it finally cooled off for the weekend and the weather was perfect! But it got so cold last night (down in the 40's) I had to turn on the heat this morning! But never fear, tomorrow we go back to being really hot again.

Talk about furniture that lasts a long time, I want to buy furniture where you buy your furniture. It is 9/11 today, hum, many people watching the news.

Talk about furniture that lasts a long time, I want to buy furniture where you buy your furniture. It is 9/11 today, hum, many people watching the news. I think it's just that we put up with "old" furniture longer than most would. First it was because with all my kids and cats, it didn't seem reasonable to get new stuff that would just get beat up again. Then it was because of my grandkids and cats , especially the new kittens when we got them several years ago. But now... it's getting pretty bad, so we're going to have to do something soon. Plus, as far as my office chair goes, Bruce has had to repair the base of it 4 times now. Each time he's said, that's the last time he'd be able to do it , but the padding is now so thin on the chair that it's no longer as comfortable as it used to be, so I guess it's time is also up. I just remind myself that in heaven I'll have beautiful furniture!
