Hi all, Glad Gracie is doing a bit better. Praying she starts getting back to her old self soon. Its been hitting the 90's here but after dealing with the 110-120's in AZ I'll take the high 80's and 90's without complaint. lol Even if Stan has decided to bake a turkey today! Speaking of Stan, his COPD kicked in this week. They had to put him on steroids, antibiotics and prescription musinex. We did manage to keep him out of the hospital though. Not quite sure what exacerbated it but there's been a lot of haze around due to the wildfires. Chelsea went to a picnic today for foster families in our area. She was invited even though she's not finished the process yet so she could meet other parents. Stan and I were supposed to go with but Stan's not quite up to it yet. Had an interesting encounter at our local Walmart yesterday. Stan was wearing his Star Wars rebels t-shirt and the cashier, a woman 50's tp 60's asked him if he was really a rebel. He said yes and then she looked at my shirt which had a cartoony version of Chewbacca with his arms outstretched and the caption "free hugs". She started laughing, came around the counter and wanted her free hug! I've decided this may not be a good shirt to wear in public. lol Yes I gave her a hug. I'm sorry that Stan's COPD is giving him fits. I hope that by now, he is feeling better and not having to take the steroids and other stuff. Cool that Chelsea was invited to the picnic. That's funny what happened to Stan at Walmart, LOL. Funny/strange in a way. But, it's good to hear that kind of story than all the other stories we hear about. I think I'd rather get a hug too. LOL Lee: I just read some simple ways that are supposed to get rid of sugar ants....maybe they do maybe not, but nothing to loose and cheap to try:
black pepper (sprinkle on their trails)
vinegar ( put in spray bottle with water)
Trap....get a small box put in maple syrup and peanut butter and they will stick to it
boric acid ( mix with sugar)
add sugar to cornmeal
lemon juice...they don't like the smell (put lemon peels in water in a spray bottle)
Baking soda ( in a jar with sugar) carry it outside when filled with ants
Ground coffee
cayenne pepper, cinnamon, chalk or red chili powder
bleach
cloves
bay leaves ( another smell deterrent)
Anyway, maybe you can try one or two to see if they work?
There's something else that Ed told me to try. I really don't know if it ever really worked, but there were ants in my office, and my office was located inside of a pole barn type building, so it would have been difficult to pinpoint the cause. So, he said to sprinkle packets of artificial sugar around. He said the ants will attract to it, eat it, and explode. The ants disappeared shortly thereafter, so I really don't know if that was the trick. I was just grateful they were gone. And I don't mind admitting that I really didn't want to see exploded ants all over the place.

Gracie is finally all better, praise God! Boy the antibiotics worked really quickly! Thank you all for your prayers! They came over on Saturday and we had a good day together. Then we did our shopping Sunday afternoon. Jenn called last night and needed a babysitter for today, so I'll be watching the kids from 2:30 till about 5:30. Jenn's dropping them off before she goes to work, and Bob will pick them up when he gets off work lol. I told them I'd have dinner ready for Bob when he got here so he wouldn't have to deal with that as well. It's supposed to be a nice day today, so I imagine the kids will want to play outside a lot.

I'm glad Stan didn't have to do into the hospital again and I hope he's feeling much better by now. Did Chelsea meet any other Christian foster families? I've always wondered if there were more Christians fostering or if there were more secular people fostering children... I've tried a number of those, both inside the house and outside, as we had tons of ants in the yard around our house too and none of them worked for me. That's why I use the store bought kind. At least it works. Hi all, Glad Gracie is doing a bit better. Praying she starts getting back to her old self soon. Another one I heard of was to put sheets of bounce around the areas where you get ants, but it didn't work any better than any of the other ones either. Hope you're doing well Cheryl!

Guaranteed, it will take more than any 2 days! By the looks of the winter forecast, you and Cindy should trade places for the winter! It will be warmer than usual in the NE and colder than normal in the PNW. LOL, normally parents give an allowance to get their kids to clean their room, now your daughter is giving YOU the allowance for cleaning her rooms! Cindy, I hope everything is OK after that tree fell on your house!! I've always been so afraid of those trees, being so close there behind your yard. Especially after a big storm you had, that downed a bunch of those trees, but missed your house, that time. But, this time you weren't so fortunate. I have 2 of those types of trees in my back yard and Ed tried to get the city to cut them down, since they ARE in the electrical lines, but they wouldn't do it.

Really hot here. I've been reading a book titled "The Mother Tongue - English & How It Got That Way" by Bill Bryson. It's well written and funny.
Not much going on with me. Hugs to all.

Hi everyone.
Cindy, so sorry that you're not having a good day; saying a prayer for you now.
It's hotter than blazes outside. Well, maybe not really, but boy is it sweltering. A dear friend from church lives in my neighborhood; they put in a pool a couple years ago and she invited me to come over this afternoon to get in the pool so I went, but did not put on a swimsuit, just sat with my feet in the water. Another lady from church was there too so we had a nice visit.
I got a part-time job: product demonstrator (that's the official title, but I call it 'sample hander-outer') at Costco!! The interview was a few weeks ago, & it took 3 weeks to complete my background check. Fortunately, that came back all clear. No crime showed up in my past, so I start training tomorrow.
This will be perfect because it will only be 2-3 days a week, 6 hour shifts (I think), and at a place I'm usually at once or twice a week anyway. Our Costco just opened last summer so it's still nice and new and clean and bright. And I get to talk to people! I expect it to be lots of fun. We'll see. As always, enjoyed reading what you're all up to in your lives. Group hug!!

You could go to work PT at Costco; I hear they have great benefits, even for PT. (Product demonstrators are not Costco employees.)

I wish I'd been able to weed my gardens, but I was only able to do a little bit in them so far. I guess because of all the rain this year, we've had more weeds then ever before. I dislike ants. Those are very old pictures...I believe it was around 2008 when this happened. Elijah and Grace have been making a fort in the woods by our yard and wanted to know how the huge tree that they thought fell, got there as it's sideways to all the others, So I was telling them about this but couldn't find the pictures while they were here. So when I found them, I posted them on FB so Jenn could show them. You'll probably remember it when I tell you that I was sitting at my desk when this happened and the tree fell directly over me! The Lord not only kept me safe, but everyone was shocked to find there was no damage anywhere, not even to the roof!i know! isn't that silly.. she was complaining "adulating" is hard.. working 40+hrs a week and commuting to her job.. she didn't have time to clean her house and that she wanted a maid.. I think that's at least part of what's making me so tired,...maybe on top of the RA, or maybe it triggered the RA. Who knows. It's just plain too hot to even cook anything, even with all the AC's running. It's been real humid too so that doesn't help at all either.
Wow, the last thing I figured on hearing from you was that you'd get another job. I don't know why, maybe because you always seem so busy anyway. I hope you enjoy it though. . I have to babysit again tomorrow as both Jenn and Bob are working, so won't be able to be here again. Hopefully things will settle down again by next week. I hope so anyway.

Well everyone has to drive to the post office now, a 40 mile trip, to get their boxes that used to be put in the mailbox. I drove to town yesterday and today have another notice to drive to town, I think I will wait until tomorrow, we are having monsoon rains now and there can be flash flooding. Yesterday when I went to the post office a man in line in front of me was angry. He shouted at the postmaster and the two employees seemed to drag themselves out from behind boxes, and frowning came to wait on the customer. He gave the employees a letter he mailed out to someone? maybe the main post office headquarters, the letter said that the posts office needed to be closed down because it was not being run properly. The man made a threat to the employees and the employees made a threat back at man. So people are angry. Everyone has to show their drivers license to the post office employee before they can get their box. I hope we can soon get our mail delivered properly.

Lorrie, that's so neat that you got that job. I've done that type of work. Well....only one time, for a temp agency. If I had to do it all the time, I wouldn't make it, because you are not allowed to sit down, the whole time you are demonstrating. Ed did it one time, too, but directly for the company that contracts the demonstrations. He demonstrated the Keurig coffee maker. I demonstrated several kinds of toaster oven snacks. YES! You do get to talk to a lot of people and they LOVE free stuff.
Anna, maybe the postal service is looking for people! Or they just decided to close up, permanently. Around here, they did. Our "hub" is now in Evansville, Indiana, so if I mail a letter to my neighbor (for example), it will go all the way to Indiana and come back. Gotta love snail mail.
Cindy, yes I did see your post(s) on facebook, explaining those pictures. I replied there, but I forgot to come back here and delete my post, sorry.
Kel, have you thought of expanding to a company that does sound systems, or a recording studio? That's part of what you do, right? I don't enjoy weeding. But, I sure do like the look, once I'm done. Just the getting started part, in this heat, is the problem. Too bad I can't do it after the sun goes down. I like it better, then..........but so do the 'critters'. That's RIGHT! Devyn has someone she can trust to be her 'maid'. Now you can officially call yourself 'your child's maid'. Tell her that she has to give references!
Margie, I've been trying to get back to reading. Every time I try, I fall asleep. Guess I shouldn't try to read in my comfy chair, huh?
Well, not much to report from my side of the map. Except that the Lord led me to a great Church!!! I've gone twice, so far, and to one Bible Study that they scheduled, just for me. One of the women, I used to work with was part of that. Very sweet lady. I will be attending the Bible study every Sunday morning, now. I just LOVE it when the Lord nudges me to do something like this. I've been praying for a long time, now, for a good Bible believing Church, in my area, and He sent two children to my door. The Lord knows my heart, and knew that if He sent children, I would listen. (Grown-ups....not so much. ) I was so impressed with how these two presented themselves and were so Christ-Driven, that I decided to attend their Church, and am SO glad I listened. The two sermons, so far, were on subjects that I need to pay close attention to, and I really felt the Lord decided I needed a good talking to.

I am hanging out? watching?....I can't think of the right word....babysitting sounds a bit deeming, for a 10 year old somehow??? Anyway, I have not slept a wink....will be here with Devon, and then, when the temporary guests leave, will start cleaning #4....but I am exhausted, sooooo tired arrrggghhh.
Also, Leonard's younger sister, Debbie called him yesterday. She was in Chicago, at their older brother Chuck's home ( and his wife Randy).
He has been fighting cancer for about 1 1/2 years or so.....but she told Leonard, that Chuck is dying now ( I am not sure if he lived thru the night).....
Debbie flew to Chicago from New York.
So I was praying most of the night. We do not know what Chuck's standing with the Lord is.
It's sort of strange, in a way, the oldest sibling was Bob, and he died 4 or 5 years ago. The 2nd oldest was Noel, and she died about 2 years ago of cancer, and now the third oldest is Chuck and he is dying of cancer also.
The last 3 are Leonard, then, Kathy and the youngest is Debbie.
So if anyone has any time, maybe you could say a prayer for Chuck to trust in Jesus even at this late hour.

Oh Praise God!!!!! That's an answer to one of my longtime prayers for you my friend! I can't tell you how very happy I am for you!!! God is so very good to us! Now you'll finally have a local family to love and support you, and help you grow in your faith! That is good news Cheryl, I am glad that you found a good church to go to. I have found a place on-line where I can have fellowship with strong Christians, so I am pleased with that. I've been praying about church for a long time and have tried to go locally but have yet to find one that started late enough that I could continue to attend regularly. So now I'm starting to consider starting a church myself for others that live with pain in my area. I'm moving very slowly though as it needs to be God's Will and not mine. I'd have to find a pastor to shepherd us and a place for us to meet, and then of course find the others who live with pain....
I sure hope you were able to get some sleep Barbara. I'll say a prayer for him right now!
It's been a long weekend for me and I'm still trying to get caught up with all I have to do. The kids were here yesterday and I'm a bit sore from that and the rain that started during the night. But I'll live lol.

We have not heard any more from Debbie about Chuck and I don't think Leonard wants to call because it might be very disruptive for Randy his wife and his sister Debbie.....but I am sure we will hear more eventually.
On an upbeat note...for the first time, our 10 year old grandson Devon came to church with us yesterday. we brought a 'purse' that Hossanah ( our daughter gave us, with epi pen and stuff for an asthma attack....we didn't need it yeah. He did not go to sunday school but stayed with the adults and was great. Also Vanessa ( granddaughter 15) came also, but she has come several times before but she also stayed with us adults.
So that was a lovely gift from the Lord!
And the sermon was something they could really relate to, in this world culture.....how to be great.....God's way as opposed to the world's way.

Had a big rainstorm with lightning early this morning. It was cooler when I walked my friend's dog.
Not much going on here. Just doing laundry. Hugs to all.

we lost another one of my mom's siblings, Uncle Olden, he was 87, he passed last Thursday...he went fast and with no pain thank the Lord. Now there are only two left out of 8 kids...My uncle Ordy and my Auntie Velma. Last I heard my Auntie Velma is not doing well at all.... I have wicked good memory's of my Uncle Olden, his daughter is my cousin Robin, she's the one that has been meeting up with me and our cousin Judi here in California. Judi's dad, my Uncle Doug passed last year....all three of us have lost our daddy's....Robin still has her mommy, my Auntie Betsy....She's 80....
this getting old stuff really really sucks I tell ya...I don't think I like it much....
Cindy, praying for you and what ever it is that your suffering.... Glad your Gracie is doing better... I had a feeling that tree was from a few years ago...I remembered the pictures....
Cheryl, wicked happy about you finding a church....
no word from the doctor yet on Ron's ankle and surgery, not sure what's up with that...
ok Cindy, how do I get into the smilies here and delete the ones from photobucket?

Cheryl, I do some freelance work for a hospital here in Renton, its about 20-30min from me. I do love what I do, but I think the Lord is saying I'm done..lol.. my passion and my patience for people are dwindling.. David and I were talking, I like the whole "retirement" thing... (not really retired) but working at the Rec Center, if I say I can't work a day.. they don't blink. they just put someone else in my spot. OF course, it is min. wage and I only get 3 1/2 hours a day, unless someone calls in sick..lol.. but its a little bit of money.. (Killian calls it my ice cream money) and its SO close to home.. I guess I got spoiled. I don't have to get up at 1am and I only drive 5mins.. on a bad day.. lol
I am so glad you found a church.. thats awesome!!
I wonder how Lorries training and such is going...?
thats great that you had the kids Fearnot, and NO medical issues!! yay!! (I'm an asthmatic too, with an epi pen, i get it)
how are you feeling Cindy??
Boy we have been having some SUN here!! love it! Daisy and I just go out and sit on the deck for 10-15mins to soak it up.. I should weed my yard again, since I don't use any kind of fertilizer or weed killer in the back because of the dogs.. they pop up often. plus i always think of the dandelions as bee food. lol
we have been freshening up the house, a little paint, we put in a floating floor that replaced the one we had for 16years.. good warranty! lol.. but I had the floor in the garage for a couple years... I bought it before I was laid off.. guess it was time to put it in.. and it looks great! I am so happy David is handy and can teach me things.. lol Killian & Devyn came over for lessons as well.. soak it up kids!
ok.. off to watch a little tv.. Love y'all

Hi everyone. Wow, it sure has been hot, hot, hot here, in the last week. I've been pretty much just staying inside the house. I've gone and let my gardens go. I just pulled the last of the tomatoes tonight, after the sun went behind the clouds. I'll be pulling everything out of the boxes, now. I could have gotten one more crop of beans, and some more basil, but I just haven't been able to, physically.
I skinned the tomatoes and made myself some garden fresh tomato soup, for my supper. YUM I did it in stages, so that I wasn't standing in the kitchen for very long at a time. But, I'm still so sore. I agree, Lulu..........not liking getting old. And in my case......crippled.
I wasn't able to make it to morning Church, yesterday. Just couldn't. So, by the evening time, I was ok enough to make it, and knew as soon as I sat down, that I was supposed to be there. Up on the slide screen, it had the words "Understanding grief". Yes, I needed to listen to that sermon and know the verses pertaining to it. Mostly, it was about helping someone else through their grief, and between Ruthanne and me, that's what we've been doing. She doesn't think she is helping me, but with those verses, I was able to show her that she most certainly does. We are helping each other through it. I don't know where I'd be, if I didn't have her holding me up.........sometimes, just to have someone to talk to, is enough for me.
Lulu, how you get the smilies that are on the board, just click on the smilie face at the top of your post screen, where you set your settings for your post. That's the only ones I know about.
On Photobucket, I deleted everything I had there, except it wouldn't let me delete the main bucket. Just the sub folders. I could have deleted them individually, but that was taking too long, with fighting all the pop ups, and I'd already been at it for a couple of hours, deleting the thousands of memories off of there. I went through each one individually and downloaded the ones I'd lost, when my computer crashed, and then I just deleted the whole folder when I was done. That took a LONG time to do. But, it's done, and I'm done with photobucket. It used to be that it was the only one that was any good to use. I haven't looked for another one, in a few years.
I wanted to reply to everyone else, but my back is really throbbing and I need to get out of this chair. So, I'll just talk to y'all later. OK?

Not much going on here. Just doing laundry. Hugs to all. We've been getting a lot of rain too both yesterday and today. It went from the 90's down to the 50's! It's 53 now but is supposed to get up to the high 60's today. We've gotten a LOT of rain this summer. More than I can ever recall before. Has your weather been really different then past years? I just checked and it should be easy to do, but somehow or another photobucket is interfering and the plugin won't show up any more so that we can delete them. I don't have time to do more about it to find out if there's a way to override whatever photobucket is doing, but I'll keep trying when I can, and will let you know. For now we'll just have to refrain from using them. You should be able to use any of the smiles on there, but then again, I honestly don't know. I just sent myself a PM using all the smiles that I could see - the ones that didn't show that stupid sign they put on them, and all of them came out looking normal. So I assume that for some reason we can use the ones that show like normal smilies on that list and just avoid the ones that show as the sign. For all I know, it's possible we may not be able to use those either eventually, but just as possible we'll always be able to. So until one of them shows up as a sign, go ahead and use them. Cheryl, I do some freelance work for a hospital here in Renton, its about 20-30min from me. I do love what I do, but I think the Lord is saying I'm done..lol.. my passion and my patience for people are dwindling.. David and I were talking, I like the whole "retirement" thing... Love y'all that's wonderful that you don't have to get up in the middle of the night any more Kel, and that you work so close to home, even if it is just ice cream money. It's weird because when you have the sun, we seem to have rain lately lol. I'm hanging in there, thanks for asking Kel. Some days are better than others, but that's always been the case. I hope you're doing well. It's sure good to hear from you again! Leonard's youngest sister Debbie called to say Chuck died today at 5:00 his time in Chicago. She said he died peacefully. That's good that he went peacefully at least and that the waiting is over for you all. I'm very sorry for your loss though. Hi everyone. Wow, it sure has been hot, hot, hot here, in the last week. I'm sorry to hear that you're hurting so much, but I'm glad you were able to make it to church that night anyway. I hope your pain continues to lessen.
Lulu's talking about the personal smiles that each person was able to add to the smiles here due to a plug in I installed, but apparently photobucket has done something so that the plug in no longer even shows up on our personal profiles so that we can delete them. It shows as still being enabled and working, but it isn't. I'll have to figure it out later if I can. Anyway, till then, like I told Lulu, you can use any smiley that shows on our list as a smiley and just don't use the ones that show as photobucket's stupid sign. I'm not going to delete all my pictures and graphics that are there. I'm still willing to pay them what I originally owed them but won't pay more than that, but they haven't deigned to get back to me about paying them yet. But then it's only been about two months, ....
:garden: <------this is whats in the smilie thingy up there at the top, it's got the fresh hope ones also, but I added some from my smilie pad, now 3rd party ones, I've got several in there, this is what I want to delete from the fresh hope smilie thingy..... sorry for you loss Barbra... sorry your hurting Cheryl.... I know Lulu. I replied to your question in your first post, so won't repeat it here. Hope you're doing well today!
Guess what? Jenn got called for jury duty for 9/11 of all days!

Popping in right quick to tell Cindy that my Daniel is in your neck of the woods today... he's on an adventure with his two life-long best buddies, Cody & Garrett. The three of them left early Saturday morning on a 10-day trip headed to Maine, in fact, they should be there by now. When he called earlier today, they were driving through NH. Said that upstate NY is the most beautiful place he's ever seen.
Need to back up and read the last couple of days of everyones' posts, but I wanted to mention that. Please keep them in your prayers.

That's so cool, Lorrie!
I just wanted to let everyone know that Photobucket has finally replied to me, so maybe we'll get this cleared up in the next few days!
