Time for a new thread. So here's most of yesterday's posts:I agree. The walking thing is not for everyone, Cindy. Like you, I cannot tolerate long walking. It usually hits me right away, but when it doesn't, it hits me later on, when I'm not doing a thing. And it has gotten worse, gradually, over the years. Even things I could do, last year, I cannot do this year. Walking and standing for longer that 15 to 20 minutes at a time, makes it worse.
I am actually somewhat surprised that Ed stayed the whole 5 days. They all did. And it wasn't because they had it in their brains that they had chronic pain. It was because they were ALL so desperate for some relief, from the pain they were actually feeling. But, these people didn't have a clue, what these men & women were having to endure. They (the physicians at the workshop) were actually at the beginning stages of the "trial and error" of what to do to find relief for them. We all kept saying....Nope, tried that, didn't work........that helped, but not for very long........nope, sorry, can't do that..... There was one time, though, and I've been waiting to tell everyone this one. A woman, who seemed kind of messed up, socially, finally said something that made the most sense...........SOAP UNDER THE BED SHEET! I almost burst into laughter. But, instead, I anticipated what she was going to say when she started out saying "you're going to think I'm crazy, and you aren't going to believe it....." I started nodding my head, and under my breath was saying yep, yep. And Ed started pointing at me, saying talk to my wife, she knows all about it. And everyone was like, huh?......You've got to be kidding. Many there, had RLS and cramping and could never find any relief from it. But, instead of talking to the woman who was being paid to give the lecture, they were all asking me about it.
I should start a thread about this, but it's actually really short (in comparison to how I usually write, lol) But, one other session was so awesome. They brought in a team who trains service dogs. That was the best and most interesting part of the program. These dogs are totally amazing. Each one of the handlers owned dogs of their own, for their own conditions, so that made it so much better, because they trained how they, themselves, live. And these dogs were not just trained to sense an attack of PTSD, but an oncoming heart attack and other trauma the human might be experiencing that even they don't know is happening. These dogs are not pets. The humans are very attached to them, but they are trained to do a job, and the dogs actually take it more seriously than the owners do. I could have sat there all day, and listened to them, telling their stories of what these wonderful animals do for people with chronic pain and chronic conditions. And it's not a particular breed either. One of the dogs was a little mutt. So cute.
Cindy, I hope you can rest today, or be able to do what it is you do to help be able to feel better. We all have our "thing" we do, to help alleviate our pain. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I think we can just all call ourselves a 'work in process'.
OK, speaking of today. I do have a couple things I need to tend to today, and it's almost noon, my time, and I haven't even begun. So, I'll talk with y'all later............
That's so neat about the soap. I've had that happen at times as well. It's amazing how something as simple as a bar of soap can help with pain or cramps. I still use mine all the time and it never fails!
That's awesome you got to see the service dogs Cheryl! I just read a book about them and how they're trained and thought it was fascinating. I'd love to be involved with something like that, but it's out of the question for me right now since I can't walk much. I know the Lord will bless those who are training them and helping our vets and other disabled people. As far as walking goes, I never know for sure just how long I'll be able to stand or walk. Some days, (not often, but still, once in a while) I can walk from the living room to the kitchen and even stand in there and make supper without too much pain. Say, for a total of maybe 15- 20 minutes standing time. But most days I can't do that. Most of the time, I'm already hurting by the time I get to the kitchen which is only about 10 steps away from where I sit in the living room. So from the time I get there, until I can sit back down, the pain just continues to get worse. The only thing that saves me when we do the shopping is holding onto the shopping cart. It's better than a walker or at least as good as one. But even with that, I'm still in horrible pain by the time we're done. That's why I had to give up working in the garden. it just about killed me to watch the weeds growing up in it this past year, and seeing all my work over the years get ruined. I tried to pull some of the weeds a few times, but just can't handle the pain anymore and Bruce has been putting his foot down more about it lately too. I still intend to at least try to do some this coming spring, whatever I can get away with anyway. We'll see. I've been using my cane a lot more inside the house and that's helping a little bit.
I'm still feeling tired, but better than yesterday. Thanks!
Hi everyone. Goodness, I haven't been here in chat in a couple of weeks.
I just finished reading the last page of Chat & haven't even started at the top of this one yet, but am about to have to leave to meet Timothy at Urgent Care; it sounds like he has the flu. He actually went to the CVS Minute Clinic about 10 days ago with similar symptoms and tested negative for flu (they called it flu syndrome) and he got better, but his symptoms came back yesterday and I just found out (15 minutes ago) that he's home sick today and barely able to get out of bed. Called our family doctor and they're booked for the rest of the day, so to Urgent Care he must go. Lots of flu going around; it's bad. Hope that, if he has it, it won't be too late for him to take Tamilflu.
Catch you all later! I sure hope that he doesn't have the flu or that like you said, he can take the tamilflu! That reminds me that for the first time in a long time, I haven't had my flu shot yet! I LOVE to walk, and walk quite a distance! but It's gotta be a comfortable walk, with Mace NOT pulling...but I am a walker for sure! Cindy praying honey! Lorrie, sending prayers up for you and Timothy also! Thinking of Ruthanne.... our weather has been crazy, tons of rain on Friday, our street was a river, very low river but the water did go all the way across the street. the homes are up around 6 feet from the street, so the homes were safe, but others weren't. Up north they are getting it real bad. they are sure that Dams gonna go... but It was a Jazzy weekend, and we had fun. Our Netty took us out for my birthday. and I got spoiled! Both Ron and I did! Work is going ok. been busy thus far. SpaceX sent up an rocket, it was beautiful. the Dragon 9 is delivering some supply's to the space station. and the first stage rocket landed back on earth, they make it look easy now... I used to walk a lot too Lulu. I especially liked to walk to work which was just a couple of miles from our house. I remember one time my son Jon was working with me - he was the "housekeeper" doing cleaning there. Anyway, since I'd walked to work, he had to walk home with me. I think he was about 14 at the time. Anyway, we were walking, and about half way home, He slumped down onto a rock to sit and told me that he needed to rest for a bit. I couldn't believe it! He was a very active kid, so it was hard to believe that a little walk would get to him long before it did me!
That was nice of Netty to take you guys out. I'm glad you got to see Jazzy too!
Hi When I was shopping yesterday at the Dollar Store I saw a woman that had the same type of shoes on that I was wearing, so I said hi to her and told her we were both wearing look alike shoes, so we both got a laugh. Then she showed me the jewelry that she was wearing, metal painted bracelets with matching metal painted ring and she said the ring only cost her one dollar. The jewelry really looked nice on her. She said she shopped on-line at wish .com. I checked out the site, seems like Chinese women from San Francisco started the site and it looks like a nice site for young people. I did not want to log in because I did not want all the junk e mail I would get, plus the tracking, but it looked like an e bay type site. Well I am off to start my day, nice weather, no cold and rain, so maybe I can stop coughing, as I am not used to humidity and cold.
Yeah, my daughter told me about it and I've enjoyed checking it out. I logged in and when I got the first email, I changed my email preferences to "none", so haven't been bothered with any more. I'm hoping I'll be able to get birthday and Christmas gifts for the kids from there at great savings!

Anna, that seems like a neat site. And since Cindy mentioned that you can change your preferences on the email issue, I think I might take a peek at it. Is it just jewelry, or is it other stuff too? I'm really not much into jewelry, except my wedding bands.
Cindy, I was going to respond to your post, but decided to take it to the pain chat forum.
Well, here's our new thread as the other was getting rather long. It's all kinds of stuff Cheryl. Everything from clothing, jewelry, toys, you name it, it's there lol.
We forgot all about Bruce's doctor appointment yesterday. They called when we didn't show up and told us we could come in anyway, so we ran over there. I was really glad as we were both looking forward to this one. The lab had accidentally drawn his cholesterol, instead of the orders that our rheum doc had sent to be drawn, and his cholesterol came out fantastic, even though it wasn't fasting! Our rhem doc gave us a copy of it as he kept telling us that people would kill to have those numbers. So Bruce had to go back to the lab and get the blood drawn correctly for our rhem doc and then go back again after fasting and get a correct cholesterol draw for our regular doc. We were going to see our regular doc about the cholesterol last night. So we showed him the numbers from "not fasting" - the mistake draw, and he pulled up the numbers for the fasting draw and they were very similar, only one or two numbers different, and those were BETTER! I'm going to frame that paper! Don't get me wrong, Bruce's cholesterol has never been "bad", but it was close to "borderline" when he had the heart attack. Because the cardiologist couldn't figure out whey he'd had the heart attack, he chose to believe it was his cholesterol. They had put Bruce on meds for it and they really messed up his blood pressure and everything, so I finally got them to take him off those meds. But then the cardiologist argued with us that Bruce should be taking something for his cholesterol and was absolutely insisting on it! (and like I said, his numbers weren't even "bad" they were just close to borderline. Bruce would have given in, but not me. The doc told him, "I'm going to send in the prescription anyway". So I stood up and said, "Fine, go ahead, but we won't be picking it up and he won't be taking it. Instead we will be working on lowering it through diet like I told you!" (which I had done quietly and politely a number of times already lol) Boy was he shocked and angry!!!! But 6 months later, his cholesterol was lower. We won! And now it's perfect! I've been dying to find out because it's been a year and a half since he had it taken last, and we've never actually seen the report before our rheum doc showed us the one they did by mistake. Before our regular doctor always just told us his cholesterol was just "fine". Not last night though. Last night, the doctor celebrated with us.
It's important to me too because now I have yet another medical reason to know that his heart attack was not caused by any of the "normal" things, but was in fact caused by the RA. The cardiologist admitted it was possible, way back then, but when Bruce was diagnosed with the RA, the cardiologist then did nothing to determine if Bruce had a rheum heart. So, it seems like so much else, it's up to me to figure it out so I can give a doctor the appropriate information so they can then study it and hopefully help Bruce if needed.
But I'll post more about that in the pain forum now, especially since Mark has now discovered that he too has RA.

Wow, Cindy, have you ever thought to tell these doctors that you need their billing address, so that you can send THEM a bill? Anymore, these doctors seem to be coming from a dime store clinic and don't or won't know anything about the profession they chose.
That's really great that Bruce stopped taking those statins. Ed couldn't tolerate any of them either, and it frustrated both the doctors and the nurses. They finally prescribed the newest one, which was crestor and you know how they list the "uncommon" or "severe" side effects? Well, he had those. I stopped them immediately, when he got bright yellow eyes, from jaundice. And I too, reduced his cholesterol through his diet. Not anything like Bruce's numbers, but way better than he was having. And I know you guys don't like avocados, but 1/2 an avocado a day is like a miracle fruit for cholesterol and heart troubles, among many other conditions. Slice it and put it on a cracker, or make your own quacamole. Or put it in a salad. Many things you can do. An avocado really doesn't have a whole lot of flavor, but combined with something else, it's fantastic.

Popping in to say hello but I can't stay because Daniel is staring at me, waiting to borrow my laptop do to homework. (It's midnight and he just got home from work.) Thanks for the prayers for Timothy - he tested negative for the flu but they did give him antibiotics for a sinus infection. He was able to return to work yesterday. I've had a cold all week but am finally starting to feel better. Our small group meets at our house tomorrow night, 14 people plus possibly a toddler, so I'll be continuing to get ready for that all day.
Glad Bruce has great cholesterol!! Cheryl, glad to know that about avocados; they're not my favorite, but I can eat them. John probably won't, though.
Hello to everyone - Anna, Barbara, Cindy, Cheryl, Lulu, Margie, Ruthanne, Seven (trying to go in alphabetical order here & hope I didn't miss anyone). Good night!

Cheryl, I was thinking how nice it would be to see photos of the gift that Ed made for you of the add on of the back of the home, and then you mentioned that you will show those photos soon, looking forward to seeing that. The day before my dad died he brought me up on a roof to help him shovel snow off of the roof. Soon he went down the ladder off of the roof and left me there to work by myself. I watched him walk to his truck and he stopped and looked back at me and was waving goodbye to me. I knew he was saying goodbye for the last time and so did he. He left me this property here in AZ and sometimes when I go outside I can smell the smell of the area where he grew up in as a child in Iowa, where we used to visit on special occasions. It is comforting to me to be able to remember him and special the gift that he left for me.

What's really funny about it all Cheryl, is that I tended to worry about his cholesterol and he didn't. I worried because of the way he insisted on eating. I did all I could to make good dinners for him, but he always had a bag a chips and a treat like a cupcake or a twinkie or devil dog or something like that with his lunch every day. Plus he often has some potato chips at night to snack on as well as ice cream, cake or cookies later. On Friday's the guys where he works buy breakfast sandwiches from our local market, which have enough cholesterol in them for a week! Then on the weekends he always makes himself a huge breakfast of eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries and toast. Then at night he has pizza! All the stuff he's not supposed to eat much of. So I was always bugging our doc to do another blood draw, but he'd only do it once a year. That's why I was so very shocked when I saw the numbers. Right after the heart attack, he was real good about eating right, but for the last few years, he insists on just eating whatever he wants to eat. Well, now that I know what his numbers are, I'll let him But it shows how doctors cover for each other too. Cause while our doc wouldn't come out and say his numbers were bad, like the cardiologist did, he wouldn't tell us how good they were either. He'd just say he was doing "ok". (till our rheum doc who knew nothing about all this saw the numbers and blew their cover anyway) So this time our doc had to admit that his numbers couldn't get any better. I have a feeling though that our doctor probably did that assuming that he just didn't know enough to understand what the cardiologist had been seeing before, and so decided to err on the side of caution. I don't blame him for that. Bruce's heart attack happened so suddenly and out of the blue when nothing was apparently wrong with him, that it threw all the doctors for a loop, so they were looking hard for any cause, not realizing that it's a symptom of RA or checking for that.
I remember when Ed was having those problems and all you guys went through too. It's crazy what people have to go through with the meds doctors put them on.
As far as avocados go, that's something Bruce won't eat. I love guacamole dip, but he won't touch that either.

Lorrie, I thought I had responded to your post, and realized... Hey, dummy, you can't think a response, you actually have to type it! Anyway, I'm so amazed. I know when I was young, I worked 2 jobs and went to school. If I had homework, I wouldn't have been able to fit that in, but even still, I'm amazed at the energy of youth. Even though, we were all there once. I could go an entire weekend with 2 hours sleep. Not anymore though. LOL
I'm so glad that Timothy didn't test positive to that flu. I understand that it is just awful and people are dying from it. I hope he can clear up his sinus infection soon. That's horrible in itself!
I'm sorry that you have been sick too. I'm glad you are feeling better though. Fourteen people!? I didn't remember you had so many in your "small" group. Or is it now getting to be a bigger group? I know you look forward to these gatherings, so I hope you had fun!

That sounded to me like a tender moment for only you and your Dad. And the memory fragrances of nature. Yes, I used to have those for Joshua, when I still lived up North. The fall leaves blowing, the slightly chilly wind in the air, and the smell of winter coming on. Yep, that reminded me of the day Joshua left to be with the Lord. Somehow, after a time, that memory turned into a comfort. I even wrote a poem about it, long ago. I'm not even sure if I still have it. I kept my poetry on my old computer.........it crashed. I might be able to find it in the files Ed restored from it, for me. But, that will be a long while before I attempt to get the rest of those files.
I made this on Youtube to show off the beautiful work that Ed did on the deck. It came out pretty good. I actually had forgotten that I made this video. We had since replaced that step, as it was way too much of a drop. And he made them way better. The other side has an extended 8' x 8' landing that we eventually added a spa for Ed physical therapy, which I am selling now. Enjoy!

Thanks for mentioning the avocado, Cheryl.
I know what you mean about doctors covering for each other Cindy. But Leonard told me how he mentioned to our PCP about another doctor and our doc said: "Yes, he could be a 'little' excitable at times and laughed... he was joking because a 'little' was a tad of an understatement LOL The doctor hubby was talking to our doc about had told Leonard 12 years or more ago that Leonard only had a few months to live.....but more than that we should move to where hubby's relatives were so they could help take care of him!! He didn't think Leonard would live more than a few months MAX!! And that was at least 12 years ago. LOL So our doc does have a sense of humor even about a colleague.

I realized, when I posted that youtube video, that some may not like clicking on things or can't, because of your internet access, or phone data usage (of which I know little about), so here is an updated photo of what it actually looks like, now: (I actually managed to steal a shot of my little helper, too.) He's my neighbor's boy.
This is what it looked like, before we bought the spa for Ed. And once I sell the spa, it will look like this, again. The benches in this picture where handmade by Ed too. They pull out into a picnic table:

That is a nice deck that Ed built. It will shade you from the hot sun in the summertime. Nice to see a video, I wasn't expecting that, and the pictures are nice too. You have such a clean backyard. What is it like to walk on green grass. Those handmade benches are so nice, what quality workmanship. I also like that raised flower bed with the rocks all around it, I am guessing that Ed made that also. I have a neighbor that built up rock like that at the entrance of his driveway and it looks nice. Your garden area looks so clean and nice and you vegetables grow well for you. When I lived in NE vegetables grew well in a garden, but not here in AZ. Thanks for showing the video and the pictures.

I did all of it too. It took me a long time, and I didn't do as perfect a job as Ed would have done, but that was my project. And Ed really wasn't interested in that type of construction, but he really did appreciate what it turned into. So, much that he added to it, and I'll post a picture of that too. (well, not finished, because I have to attach that ledge, but I don't like those small flag stones. I'm waiting until I can get hold of some bigger ones, and I refuse to pay the price for what they want for them at Lowe's.) Well..............I took this one at night. I KNOW I took some in the daytime, and now I can't find them. I've looked and looked. Oh well, here's this one.
Ed laid the stone circle, and moved the birdbath into there, as it is way too heavy for me. Then we put in the rest of the stuff. I had Hens & Chicks, Petunias and a fall mix of sorts planted in there. The Hens and Chicks are the only ones that are perennials, so I don't know what I'll put in there, this spring. It needs more soil, inside the barrel. That's the barrel that we used to have on the stump at the side of the house. But, that stump is rotted through, now, and ready to be removed, so this is our idea for the barrel, now.

You're pictures are great Cheryl! I'll have to check out the videos on my kindle later though.
I've been sick all weekend and am still feeling yucky. The kids are coming over today since I was sick before. I was hoping I'd feel better by now. Oh well, I'll still enjoy seeing them. I need to go though so I can rest while I can. Sorry guys...

Hope you feel better soon, Cindy.
Cheryl, that is a really handy bench/table combo. I've never seen anything like that.
Had a big rainstorm here last night. The sun comes and goes today. Guess winter isn't really over yet.
Hugs to all.

I like avocados, Mexico ships plenty of them our way. I just finished making oatmeal cookies. Waiting for UPS to bring a box, oh he is here now. It looks like it is going to rain, windy also. Cheryl, I like that stone circle and the birdbath. The birdbath looks so heavy that windy would not blow it over. I would like to make a pretty rock spot, so no weeds could get in that area. I don't know if I will or not, depends on how much free time I have and if I have enough energy to do that and if I get interested in sewing instead. Soon I will have to gather and dry mesquite flowers to make tea from them. I do that for about a month and then I am able to have tea for a year from that.

Praise the lord Lulu!!! Thank You Father for Your constant care and provision!!!! Thank you for answering our prayers too and letting us participate in this with You!
Thanks for your prayers Lulu. Guess I need them as I'm still feeling really yucky. Can't eat or drink much and haven't been for awhile. Constantly exhausted, in pain, etc... you get the idea lol. Feel like I got hit by a truck basically.
But i still really enjoyed seeing Jenn and the kids. God gave Gracie a bunch of miracles when we played yahtzee - she got 6 yahtzees in the first game!!!! What was really funny was her first yahtzee came on her third turn and she threw all 3's And her last one came on her last turn and she threw all 6's! I think the Lord was having fun with us yesterday I managed to make a pot of spaghetti and meatballs for them all to eat, and I could tell the whole time they were there that the Lord was strengthening me so I could enjoy their visit. He's so very good to us! I sure am getting tired of this though and hope it ends soon.

I hope you enjoy the videos too, Cindy. I had fun making them, once I figured it out on YouTube. I'm sorry you've been so sick, but I hope you were able to enjoy the children, anyway. Hope you feel better soon, Cindy. Cheryl, that is a really handy bench/table combo. I've never seen anything like that. Had a big rainstorm here last night. The sun comes and goes today. Guess winter isn't really over yet. Hugs to all. Thank you, Margie. I included that video, because you know I have to grab a chance to show off my Ed and the things he made. Yeah, I'm wondering about this weather too. We had a doozy of a storm, last night, too. I'm sitting here, at the computer, and a big sonic boom of thunder shook the house and lightning flashed at the same moment. I about jumped out of my skin!! I actually bought some sugar snap pea seeds the other day. I didn't grow peas, last year, because the heat comes quickly in the South and my peas don't do so well. So, I thought I'd start them early, since they are a cold crop, anyway. But, hey..........it's too cold out there to be messin' around. LOL Hugs right back to you, Margie. Are you still enjoying your new home? I like avocados, Mexico ships plenty of them our way. I just finished making oatmeal cookies. Waiting for UPS to bring a box, oh he is here now. It looks like it is going to rain, windy also. Cheryl, I like that stone circle and the birdbath. The birdbath looks so heavy that windy would not blow it over. Soon I will have to gather and dry mesquite flowers to make tea from them. I do that for about a month and then I am able to have tea for a year from that. Thank you, Anna. I love Ed's work and his taste. We did plan it together, but he did most of the he-man work on that addition, because I was having a flare-up. And it turned out nice. I wish the birds will use the birdbath. Maybe this year, they will. It's really not hard to do a rock garden. For me it's the getting down on the ground on my knees. I wind up sitting on my butt. And then, of course, it's the getting back up issue. I like that you pick mesquite flowers to make your tea. Yeah avcocados is healthy fat any doctor or medical professional would tell you that It was Emperor Monstuaza of Azetch nation fav veggie I been busy on and off try post here in evening or early morning hour I got my tax refund already pay some rest of Christmas bill I am good I been posting at the Digital TV Facebook I go on if you are friend you know I am pretty actively yes certain market going get new MGM Sinlair Charge in near future NO Word yet on SO CAL Channel picking up it been soft launch I love Avocados. I can just eat them as a side dish, sliced up, with a sprinkle of salt. Lately though, I'm not finding too many that are any good. I'll bring them home and they are black inside. But, I bought some yesterday, at Krogers. They're organic grown, so I hope I won't have the same issue with those. They were not cheap. Ron got a job! he starts today! The Lord is good! and He always provides.... Ron's already started getting stuff for our garden, this year though he got lots of wild flowers..we are trying to give the bees something to eat along their journey in life...we have it planned out how we are gonna do both flowers and veggies, pictures will be posted. loved your videos Cheryl... Cindy pray your feeling better....I saw the Yahtzee score on FB! Gracie won ah? it's been raining off and on these past couple days, weather people say warming up for the next couple days then back to rain again... but we do need it.... Congratulations to Ron!!! Praise the Lord!! The Lord's timing is ALWAYS perfect!! I'm so happy for you both!! I can't wait to see the pictures of your lovely garden. It is always so perfect. And lol, I always look to see what ideas I can swipe, because y'all always have cool ideas. Lulu, I saw the last segment of minutes of 60 minutes Sunday night and they were talking about the California rains. They were saying something that was interesting, because I had hoped that with all the rain y'all are having, it will replenish your reservoirs. But, what they said is that scientists say that because CA went so long in a drought that it would take 100 years to replenish the water basin, and even with all the rains, the ground is sinking and filling the cavity left by the water basin that used to be there. I hope I worded that right. I'm typing on no sleep here. lol But is this true? Well..........I decided this morning, that since I can't sleep at night that I'd try and just stay up, today, and maybe I'll sleep tonight. Maybe? So, I decided to go down to Cracker Barrel and treat myself to breakfast. Not really a good idea, it turns out. They need to fire that cook. (I hope he/she doesn't make $15 an hour!) I ordered over medium eggs and got over easy....ew. I ordered the Country Sampler, because you get a little of everything. The grits were over-cooked. The fried apples were old. The biscuits needed 2 more minutes in the oven. The gravy was cold. The ham was disgusting. The sausage patty was under-cooked and the bacon slice was cooked great on one end and under-cooked on the other end. I wound up taking most of it home in a doggy bag, so I can cook it and eat it for supper. The eggs I left there. She asked if she could get me new eggs, cooked right, but I declined. It wasn't her fault. She did a good job. But the coffee was delicious. So, I stayed and had another cup. For $2.15 a cup, I made sure I had a refill. LOL Well, got a 2nd load of laundry to do and then I'm done with that, so I'd better get to it. Need to make an important phone call, so I need to get that done, and today is dump day, so I need to haul my garbage to the dump. I don't let the bags get too full, because then I can't lift them into the truck, and then I can't lift them into the dumpsters. So, I try to go 3 times a week, on the days they are open. Then maybe it'll be time to finally sleep........maybe? I need to turn my life back, right-side-up, if I ever expect to live this life, as normal as possible. Sorry about the bum ending to my post. Sleep deprivation and sadness will do that. OH, I wanted to make sure that everyone knows that Ruthanne hasn't been able to be here in the last few days, because her phone service and internet is on the blink.........and I think her cable is on that service as well. They are having problems, out that way, and are dragging their feet on fixing it. We were on the phone on Friday night and the static in her phone was so loud I could hear it as if she was crushing ice. It wasn't in my line, but I could hear it though her mouthpiece on her handset. She thought that maybe it was her phone, itself, but said that her internet had been intermittent lately too. Then Steven wrote me a note on facebook on Saturday to let me know not to worry. She just can't call or visit with our FH family, until they come out and fix it. They are supposed to be doing that today. Please pray that they do!

I can't believe that I spent an hour on my last post, and this one of yours wasn't there, when I started. OH, I got it now. I'm saying a prayer for your healing and for your pain level right now Cindy. That's really neat about all the Yahtzee's that Gracie got. I saw your post on facebook too. I was like....YIPPIE! I grew up, playing Yahtzee and still play it on POGO to this day. It's fun! I still also have a Yahtzee game. I've managed to get 4 Yahtzee's in one game, but not very often, but I've never seen SIX in one game. Gracie, you GO girl!!

That's a shame about Ruthanne's internet and all. I do hope they get it fixed soon as it must be really irritating for her.

I've managed to get 4 Yahtzee's in one game, but not very often, but I've never seen SIX in one game. Gracie, you GO girl!! Yep, Gracie is the Yahtzee Queen LOL. Months ago when I first introduced the game to the kids, and they played their very first game, Gracie got 4 or 5 yahtzees that time! Needless to say, she likes that game LOL. (and no, she doesn't cheat, although we're always teasing her about it) I've never gotten more than 2 in one game. This game is also good to help kids with math since they have to be able to add up their dice as well as their scores. (of course we double check it for them and make sure it's right. If it's not, they get to do it over again lol)
I also introduced them to Monopoly and they enjoy that game as well. That's a great game for helping kids with their Math too. I've heard they have a new one out for today's kids so that they don't have to add and subtract anymore. Now the game comes with an automatic device that does it all for them. Needless to say that neither Jenn or I will ever get that version! It's like adults want to keep kids stupid these days. Jenn does with her kids though what I did with mine. They have to be able to do the math in their heads and get the right answers, just like kids did back before paper was common. I just updated Ruthanne's prayer request. Please continue to pray for her. Poor Ruthanne. I hope she starts obeying the doctors. I know it causes more pain, but there's a reason for it too. They don't like to give pain medication for that and generally don't because the medication itself depresses the lungs; it slows the breathing and heart rate. That's the last thing they want to have happen. Maybe if you explain to her that they're not being mean, but are trying to help her, it will help? It was because of that, that all those years ago when I had the mild heart attack that I didn't take my morphine. Even when it was over, I was very hesitant and it took the doctor telling me that it would be ok for me to take it now before I was willing to risk it.

LOL, thanks, Cindy. I'm not as meticulous about my videos and graphics as I used to be, on the old board, but I do still like to try stuff out. Especially if it's free. And I'm not going to guarantee what my yard will look like, this year. I do have to do a garden, though. For a food source, and because my garden IS my sanity.
Regarding Ruthanne's service. I got really worried about her, because she needs to be able to have a phone, so that if she needs help, she can call someone, or an ambulance. So, instead of just sitting here, fretting about it, I called her service and asked if there was any way that they could bump her schedule up to priority, since she is a heart patient. It was after 8pm, and I hoped I would get a live operator. I wound up getting someone who had such a thick accent and talked REALLY fast, and I couldn't understand much of what she was saying. So, then it suddenly dawned on me that I might cause her scheduled service to get canceled and it would be all my fault! I tried to tell her that I'm hanging up now, but she kept babbling on. I don't know what she was saying. I just finally hollered......."Just make sure you get it fixed, I'm hanging up now." I hung up and asked God for forgiveness, if I've gone and done her more harm than good. Well, the Lord already had His ideas on the matter, and when I talked to Ruthanne yesterday, she said her phone and everything came back on, at 10pm the night before the scheduled service!
I've always loved Yahtzee, but Monopoly was always a game that aggravated me. Still does. They have several Monopoly versions on POGO and I cringe when I see a weekly challenge in one of them. But, I do play it, to get the challenge, and then get out and go play something I like. LOL
Back to Ruthanne. Cindy, please understand. I didn't say she wasn't obeying the doctors. Quite the contrary. She is doing everything exactly as they've told her to do. To the point (at the hospital) where they just "assumed" she knew what she should do. They said, 'well, you should have been doing that' and she said she was told NOT to, so she wasn't. They weren't very nice to her, until they found out that she was a new widow. But, that wasn't until she'd already been there a few days. So, the reason she doesn't want to go back into the hospital is for this reason. They don't understand her chronic pain, and won't listen to her. But, that confuses me about the pain meds, Cindy. Because when Ed had his open heart surgery, they had him so pumped up on morphine, it was nuts. HE was nuts. lol And then they sent him home with 10 mg percocets. And up until that time, Ed wasn't taking ANYthing for pain, except aspirin.

Even with heart and lung problems, once they know the problem for sure and know what to do, then they can give the narcotics sometimes, depending on the person and the problem, obviously. So I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure they knew what they were doing.
I'm glad she's obeying them. I worry too much I guess. Thanks for letting me know. I'll reply more tomorrow...
Our electricity keeps going off so I've got to turn off my computer now. Just came on to let you know why I can't be online today. Sorry. It's already gone off on my a half dozen times. I just hope I can get this posted here in chat before it does it again. See you tomorrow, God willing!

Cheryl, yes, I am still enjoying living here. I know more people and enjoy visiting with them at lunch. I was totally alone when we still lived in our house. My friends had moved away to be closer to their adult children.
The sun is shining but it just doesn't seem very warm to me. I put on an extra sweatshirt.
Hugs to everyone.

Thank you to everyone who prayed for me,the Lord has heard your prayers! I'm finally feeling almost human again and am so very thankful! In the past, that fatigue hasn't hit me for such a long time. It usually went away after a day or two at the most, so to have it last for over two weeks was almost unbearable. It may seem strange to talk about fatigue as being unbearable, rather than the pain being that way. The pain is no fun, but I can generally deal with it. After all, I'm used to it. But the fatigue from RA is different from "normal" fatigue. It's not just being tired or exhausted even. It's more than that. You feel so depleted of energy that you literally have trouble even talking. (much less posting). You think about going to the bathroom for a long time before you do it, because you just don't have the energy to get there. Your body feels like each limb weighs a few hundred pounds so that even moving at all is almost impossible - or rather it feels impossible. Plus, it has nothing to do with how much sleep you do or don't get. Generally when it hits, the person spends a lot of time sleeping because that's really all you can do and all you feel like doing, but the sleep doesn't make you feel any better. You feel just as bad when you wake up as you did before you slept. On top of the feeling of fatigue there's also an additional feeling like you have a bad case of the flu. You'll often even run a fever off and on. But the only thing your body is fighting is itself. there isn't anything really wrong other than your body thinks there is so is fighting itself. Of course by doing that, it generally causes many other symptoms of RA to join in it's "fight", so you get all those too. But somehow, the worst is the fatigue itself.
I can still feel the fatigue and flu like symptoms, but it does seem some better. At least I know now that I'm not going to feel like this forever. Right now though, I could use a nap I was getting concerned because I need to pay the bills and do our taxes and there's no way I can do anything like that when feeling this bad. Mainly because when this happens, my brain turns off and it would be too easy to make mistakes. I'm hoping now that I can get it done by next week sometime.
Oh, more good news though: Bruce got a raise! That's really going to help us a whole lot! We still owe a lot on back taxes that I haven't been able to pay yet, so maybe now I'll be able to pay some on them. And of course we still need health insurance - or rather I do. I'm hoping Trump will be able to fix the problems with it so that I can get some we could actually afford.

By the way, I meant to do this months ago and kept forgetting to, but finally checked the permissions on the board and have changed them so that everyone can start a thread in the regular forums now. By regular, I mean like End times, End times news, Christian chat, Education, testimonies, book and movie reviews etc. If I missed one, just let me know!

My friends had moved away to be closer to their adult children. The sun is shining but it just doesn't seem very warm to me. I put on an extra sweatshirt. Hugs to everyone. I'm so glad that now you have new friends, who you can interact with now. Yes, we had that sun, here too. I mistakenly thought it was warm out there, and stepped outside, and did an about-face and went right back in to get my jacket.
How did you fare in that awful storm? The weather news said that it started in Oklahoma and came East. That storm was scary. For the first time, in 5 years, I actually got into my garage for a couple of hours. I've seen many of these tornadoes remove an entire home from it's foundation, but my garage is more sturdy that my sectional home. The city sirens started going off, and I'm sorry, but that just wigs me out, when I hear them. I tried to call my neighbors, who don't even have a garage to protect them, and all circuits were busy. I couldn't get through. So, I came back into the house and got on FB and sent her a private message. I found out that she was alone, with the children, and her hubby was at work. So, I told her to get over here, with me. I suggested that she drive over, to prevent getting stranded half way over, if the storm reached us, before she could get here. I'm glad she did, because just as she was carrying her daughter inside, the rain came down with a vengeance, and the flag pole was swaying over. I thought it was going to break off! We stayed in there for quite a while, listening to the rain slam the garage. I was praying several times, asking the Lord to keep the clouds in the sky, and let it calm. The storm finally blew over, and we stood out in my driveway, watching it East of us, and it looked very fierce. My weather radio said it was moving at 70 mph. Found out the next day that a roof blew off an area, over at the state prison, where our other neighbor works. He arrived at work 15 minutes after it happened. Two staff members were injured in that storm. Thank you to everyone who prayed for me,the Lord has heard your prayers! I'm finally feeling almost human again and am so very thankful! Cindy, I replied to the first part of your post, in the pain forum. But, I'm happy to see that you are feeling better. And CONGRATULATIONS to Bruce, about his raise! That will be a big help to you and Bruce! I too, hope that what type of plan Trump comes up with, will help us too. I couldn't afford insurance, before obamacare, and then when it kicked in, I REALLY couldn't afford it. Obamacare wanted to take ALL of my earnings and some of Ed's, just to cover me. That was so awful. Especially since the deductible would have been $4000 and I would have never reached it. And we wouldn't have had any money left, at ALL. So, I didn't take the insurance. As a result, when I DID have an emergency, I didn't have insurance at all.

Good morning everyone.I can finally say it and it's still morning! Cindy,I read this whole page last night and a couple of things hit me.One,I haven't been here so I haven't known how bad your flare-up or flu or fatigue was as bad as I have ever heard it.I am so sorry and pray you are on the up-swing.Two,you said you felt the Lord strengthening you when Jenn and the kids came over and you were able to have a wonderful time. And I think it is so awesome, that the Lord played Yahtzee with all of you. That makes me happy.Three, after worrying about Bruce's job when he was having to take all those days off,and now he's got a raise! How have his migraines been? And has his RA reached your level yet? After being alone with the Lord(mostly) for the past year,I seem to have a Jesus filter.Best I can describe it,though I'm sure you all have it but know the right name for it.Remember when I told y'all after Larry died I felt God's forcefield around me?Well He took that away four days after surgery, and of course, being a drama queen,I totally lost it.I don't even know how the surgeon got my chest tubes out as I was sobbing so hard and not asking for the Lord,I wanted Larry. He would have been able to talk me thru it or just held me,or just been there for me.I AM STOPPING THIS TRAIN OF THOUGHT AS IT WASN"T WHERE I was going anyway. The Jesus filter.Everything that happens to me I have to look through the filter and find Jesus. When I do the confusion leaves my mind and I can think through whatever is happening and get through whatever is upon me.I did not mean to cap that sentence.Jesus.You know if this had happened 2 yrs ago,I would have counted on Larry and Jesus second. Not right, but it's how we were. Lulu, thank God Ron got a job!I had no doubt.I can tell your posts are getting happier cause the garden is coming and outside activities.I hope everyone has a great spring and summer. I can't possibly talk to everyone as my eyes are closing,so my love to all and will try to get to my prayer request thread,Love Ruthanne

I can't possibly talk to everyone as my eyes are closing,so my love to all and will try to get to my prayer request thread,Love Ruthanne Hi, Ruthanne, it's good to see you posting. It was also good to talk to you again, after several days. And you know me and phones. I'm not too keen on those contraptions, but, right now it is necessary. I need to talk to you and I need to talk to my Sis in law, Mike, and my sister Karen. But, after a while it gets me to realizing that I'm not getting a thing done around here. LOL So, a few days rest is good for both of us. But, just don't make it too long, or you'll be hearing from me, ya' hear?
Ruthanne, I don't feel like you are a drama queen. Bad things happen. They're going to happen, whether we want them to, or not. And we have to deal with them. And if it takes us bending someone's ear to help us sort it all out and take the proverbial 'bull by the horns', then so be it. But, that's not being a drama queen. It's admitting that we need each other. And when you said you lost it. I'm going to give you the same advice you are giving me. You said, "When it hits you, and oh boy will it hit you, you are going to need someone and I am right here." This is what has happened to you and you lost it in front of the hospital staff........strangers...... and that didn't set well with you. And understandably so. No drama queen definition there. Because our Lord, like you said, put a force-field around you. HE protected you, and still IS protecting you. And I don't believe for a second, that He ever intended any of us to go through our trials alone. But, I do believe that He let you lose it at the hospital, because you needed medical attention, as well as people. I'm just guessing, of course, but our Lord has His reasons and I know you trust him. And so do I.
I love you, Ruthanne. We all love you. And we will all get through this together, through our Lord.
