Cindy: I keep thinking the weather has a part in how I feel as well. I mean its consistent very cold, wet, dark days I usually am in a lot more pain, but moderate, sunny days better, however, I also feel in more pain if it becomes really hot and dry. Strange.
I am with you about the low fat and salt. In fact, the general new thinking is fat ( the right kind) is good for you.
I just happen to really really like smoothies, but then I also have always been a big lover of fruit and berries...veggies are 'OK' but I am trying to eat more, and make more soups in the vitamix.
I do love potatoes ( maybe my Irish genes? LOL) I am not a big meat eater cuz I just don't love it, I do eat it for protein tho.

how the heck are ya all? I've been here, reading and such...it's good to see the chat active again. it's been warm here, in the hi 70's low 80's. forecast is saying more rain at weeks end though. Work for both Ron and I has been crazy, Ron's putting in a lot of hours, cause it's a new job and because they are way behind. So he's working many Saturdays again... We did manage to get our garden in already, the day before spring...I'll have to post some pictures. Ron did post a video on FB. I'm gonna have to take pictures before posting them

I do love potatoes ( maybe my Irish genes? LOL) I am not a big meat eater cuz I just don't love it, I do eat it for protein tho. I know what you mean. I should have been in more pain yesterday and today should be a good day, but it's the other way around. I think if my body ever actually made sense, I'd faint. I've always told my doctor that I'm weird, and he's always agreed LOL. I guess that's one reason I was so very relieved when I researched RA and Sjögren's. It's those diseases that make my body so "weird" and so nothing seems to make any sense. It was a relief to me because at last I knew for sure that i really wasn't crazy and there really was a reason for all my symptoms.
One of our neighbors and her daughter were in a car accident a couple of days ago. A drunk driver hit them. They're both in the hospital in critical condition and the doctors aren't sure if they'll make it. The woman just lost her husband a few months ago after a long illness, and she has a number of medical conditions herself and is disabled. The doctors say it's up to her now, but I'm not sure she wants to live anymore. But I'm praying she will. My other neighbors and I are going over to her house in a little while to clean it up and empty out the refrigerator so the food won't go bad. She has a cat, and my other neighbor has been taking care of him for her too. (that's why she knew we needed to clean up the house and all). So that's our job for today, and wouldn't you know that I'm having trouble moving. So I just took a third dose of morphine, so I'll be able to help her. I hate my body when it interferes with stuff like this! But then I have to remind myself that God is in control, so I repent of my corrupted feelings and submit to Him and will persevere regardless, with His help. That makes me smile, because I know He's smiling at me and wants to help me, thank You Lord!
I think problem with the neighbor he had two teeneager sons they were into themselves there was a time that they didn't put gargage cans on before MOnday morning before School or Sunday for my neighborhood trash day BTW yess Raiders are moving to Vegas everybody send me scene from Goodfella and Casino scenes Don't ask LOL! Does Ron like his new job? What is it that he's doing? (sorry, I can't remember.. I know he said where he worked, but didn't get an idea of what he did there, and can't remember where he's working anymore anyway LOL) Bruce's work has been slow for the last few months, but always is at the end of the winter, so I imagine it'll be picking up again soon.
Well, I'd better get to the bible study thread so I can get over to the neighbors house soon. See you all later!

OH Lorrie! That was TOO FUNNY!! I've seen things written similar to that, before, but that was BY FAR the best one!! Thank you for sharing it. You gave me a laugh today.
I like drinks that are green, but only if they taste good. Like green tea. I LOVE green tea. And it is an antioxidant, and when I first started drinking it, I felt addicted to it. I was drinking an entire jug of green sun tea a day, and lost 15 pounds!! I wasn't even trying to lose weight. I was only trying to find something I could drink that didn't have added citric acid. I was just so tired of only getting to drink coffee, black tea and water. That was IT. I don't drink it as often, now, but should. I put raw honey into it, to give it a little sweetness, without taking away the flavor.
I do buy organic when I can. I recently found out that wheat is treated with weed killer (Round-Up) to cause all of the crop to die off at the same time. Otherwise, it dries in patches and not ready for harvest. So, they speed up the process by killing it with chemicals. Well, that is at the last of its growing spurt so that weed killer stays in the kernel and that is what is ground into flour. I buy organic flour. I also buy organic produce, and ONLY produce made and grown in the states. Fish too. If it comes from anywhere else, it doesn't go home with me. I don't care how much of a 'sale' it proclaims to have. And I never used to like honey. If it was in something, I could eat it, but to just use the full force of honey on bread or something like that, I would not eat it. But, I bought some RAW honey, last summer and can't believe the wonderful flavor it gives my tea. I've had some uncomfortable reactions to pure can sugar, in these last few years, that I needed to find an alternative sweetener. I get my raw honey from the Farmers' Market, and it's processed and jarred by the local farmers, and has NO added anything in it. Yes, I like bee poop.

I'm gonna have to take pictures before posting them OH, I want to see your garden!! I always look forward to that. And you just reminded me. I bought some Sugar Snap Pea seeds over a month ago, intending to have a good crop this year, and the weather turned so cold and stormy that I haven't gone out there to plant them. If I don't do it soon, I won't be able to. Peas don't like heat. And when the heat hits this area, my peas don't produce. So, I thought I'd plant them in February and by March they'd be flourishing. OOOps, it's almost April and I haven't gotten them in. I think I'll go prepare a box for them, this evening, and if I run out of daylight, I'll plant them tomorrow morning. Thank for the reminder. Now that Cindy mentioned that you have a video on FB, I need to get over there and have a looksee. I can't believe I missed it!!!

What brand of green tea do you like Cheryl? Have you heard of the get the tea site that is advertised on Christian sites? A Christian man owns the company. The tea is expensive 35 dollars but it is a cleansing tea made from green and white tea and Persimmon leaves, Malva leaves, Holy Thistle, Marshmallow leaves, Blessed Thistle, Papaya Enzyme, Ginger Root, and Sarsaparilla leaves. I am drinking the tea right now, I used my last tea bag, I am not sure if I will buy more or not as it is really expensive, but it is organic. Maybe I did see pictures of Ed at the old site, and forgot because it was so long ago. Ron reminds me of things we once did or people we knew and I don't remember and Ron tells me I am lucky that at least I don't much have bad memories, but I do purpose to forget the past also, I always say to Ron that it is just water under the bridge. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your garden Lulu. I hope to buy some flowers to plant in pots in a few days. That is sad about your neighbor lady getting in a car accident and in critical condition, Cindy. I am glad you and another woman are able to help out by going to check up on things at her home. That must encourage her and make her feel better mentally. Hi Kelley, I hope you are doing well and getting vacation time soon from work. Barbra I like to blend banana, milk and yogurt and freeze it and then put it in a blender for a smoothie. I think that also would make good popsicles.

I am trying to limit or avoid wheat flour and I always buy organic. I tried to substitute rice flour for wheat flour and that did not work, the only thing I can use that rice flour in is 1/2 the flour rice and 1/2 wheat in cookies. In India they use garbanzo bean flour, so I am going to try that, I don't think it will work out well but maybe I will be pleasantly surprised and it will. I have garbanzo beans and a hand grinder.
Yesterday Fed x delivered a mattress here that I had ordered online from W almart. This morning while reading a small local newspaper on-line before I could read an article a questionnaire popped up and asked me if I had purchased a new mattress within the last 12 months and if so mark the store that I bought it from, and W almart was first on the list to mark, and last night while watching a y outube video an audio advertisement told me that my mattress was old and not working out well for me and that I needed to buy a new mattress, that was creepy.

Cheryl and Anna: I too often buy organic....IF I can afford it. I am not fond of pesticides, growth hormones ( I have grown quite big enough), antibiotics, dyes, man made chemicals ( if an item has a zillion words I cannot begin to pronounce I try not to buy it)
Even better, I try to grow some things myself because they taste better, are organic because I do not use pesticides and they almost always taste soooo much better.
My daughter has a co-worker who has her own chickens so we sometimes buy eggs from her, and she makes jelly, pumpkin purees ( I don't have enough space to grow them unless I try the tiny tiny mini ones, but then I still have to decide which things I really want to grow and I still want my flowers, roses etc.
I do have plants in what should be the bedroom of our little hut ( about 450 sq ft or less). But there are only 2 small windows....
I am not sure what would be the best artificial lighting that also would not cost and arm and a leg......any ideas?

Barbra I like to blend banana, milk and yogurt and freeze it and then put it in a blender for a smoothie. I think that also would make good popsicles. Currently, I'm using Uncle Lee Organic Green Tea. Every time I'm out, Walmart has a different brand than what I use, and I have to search and read labels all over again. That's aggravating. Prior to that, I was using Lipton Green tea (not organic) and all I could taste was the paper, so I looked for an alternative. I bought some loose tea, (black pekoe) and forgot I'd done that. I found it up in my cupboard a couple days ago. So, I got it down to fix myself a cup and when I put it in the little strainer ball, I noticed it was very powdery, instead of leaves. And it went right through the strainer holes. Completely defeated the purpose for straining it. I have to learn to open things, when I buy them, to make sure it is what it is supposed to be, because I'm sure I bought that a while back, and don't have the receipt anymore. But, I'll use a coffee filter, for that, until it is used up. I'm not going to waste it.
Anna, I try to be very frugal. It is how I survive. I would never spend $35 on something to drink. If they were giving samples away for free, I'd go for that, and enjoy it while it lasted, but never go back to buy it.

After I read that article, I searched around for more information (just in case it was 'fake news'), and found that it was true, about the Round-Up. And I do still have some regular flour in my refrigerator, but can't bring myself to use it. But, I most likely will use it, because I find it very difficult to throw good money in the trash. But, if I can still afford to do it, I will not buy flour that is not organic, again.
I can't imagine using garbanzo beans for a flour, but hey if it works, please let us know! I've never tried rice flour. Thank you for letting us know that it really doesn't work well. I tried a recipe, not too long ago, where they used ground up cauliflower to create a pizza crust. Ed didn't care for the crust of pizza, so I thought he might go for this. Well, neither one of us liked it. There is really something to be said for a real crust. It soaks up any moisture or grease that might be in the toppings, while baking in the oven. Cauliflower absorbs it too, but doesn't have the density to support it and you wind up with a greasy slice of pizza. That was an expensive experiment, because cauliflower isn't cheap. Oh well.
That IS creepy about the mattress popups, after you ordered online. But, in order for you to be able to access some sites (i.e. Walmart), it requires you to accept cookies. And those cookies cause other sites to be able to know what you've searched and accessed online. (I hope I said that right) You might want to empty your cache, daily. Click on [START] [RUN] and in the dialog box type in this with NO spaces %temp% , then click [OK]. It will give you a list of temporary internet files that you've accessed, since your last clear. If you've never done it, the list will be VERY long. Make sure that the files are all TMP or TEMP, by checking the top of the screen. Select them all and delete. Then go empty your recycle bin. And if your computer seems slow to load pages, you'll find that this little task will increase your speed, because it's no longer looking for the most recent stored page. And if you've been searching and/or purchasing online a lot in one given day, it would be good to delete your browsing history if you are using I.E. under "internet options". But, then again, after I typed all of that, I seem to remember that Ron is pretty handy at the computer and you probably already knew all of that. Sorry.

I am not sure what would be the best artificial lighting that also would not cost and arm and a leg......any ideas? I also prefer to grow my own vegetables. I am limited to how much though, because I container garden. I am tempted to grow some ground crops, but probably won't do that, this year because I am over-run with moles in my yard. So, to try to do a ground crop, before I can get rid of those varmints, would be feeding them and all of their relatives. I usually throw limestone on my yard, every year, but the last two years, I've not done that, and I am so sorry I didn't. Just popping in to say a quick Hi! I got behind answering private messages. I can't wait for heaven because at least then I won't ever be "behind" again LOL Cindy! Come back, when you can! BTW, I meant to say that it's really great, what you are doing for your neighbor. I pray the Lord gave you the strength to accomplish what you wanted to do for her, with little to no pain. I pray that they will be blessed with a medical miracle and be able to walk right out of that hospital. Is it Nancy?

Big storms here night before last. Some homes north of us were destroyed by straight-line winds of 95 mph.
Had to go to the eye doctor this morning. They're OK except I have some spots in them that need to be watched. Sometimes the spots can become glaucoma. My eyes are finally back to normal after being dilated for the tests.
Hugs to all.

I am glad you mentioned that you tried that cauliflower pizza crust, as I saw a video of that and wondered how that would turn out, I thought probably not so good. Thanks for the information about how to empty the cache, I know you once posted that and I did that at that time but forgot to keep doing it. That is what I need to know, I will paste and print the information so I will have it. Oh those straight-line winds! I try to keep up on the news about the wind and storms. I try to keep up on what bpearthwatch (Jessy a Christian) has to say about the weather, I think you do also, Barbra. Any plants I grow will also have to be planted indoors, they would not last after even one night outdoors here where I live. When I lived in NE we had a large organic outdoors garden and nothing bothered the garden plants. I have seen where some people do the hydroponic gardening, that is interesting, mineral nutrients in water. It uses no soil but does use grow lights, sometimes using an aquarium with the mineral water in it to grow the plants, at least it would be organic.

I'm just not up to doing the taxes today, so I'm going to put that off till Monday. Believe it or not, it's snowing here again.... the weatherman says we're to get another foot of snow before this ends Saturday night. Just popping in to say a quick Hi! I got behind answering private messages. I can't wait for heaven because at least then I won't ever be "behind" again LOL Cindy! Come back, when you can! Thanks Cheryl. No, Nancy and I were helping; it's another neighbor who's name is Ellen. Wow, that's awful about the homes being destroyed! I hope no one was hurt, and am very glad you're safe! I hope you don't get glaucoma or anything else for that matter. I've had a stye on one eye for the last several weeks that doesn't want to go away. I'm sure my eye doctor will have something to say about that when I see him if it's still there. It had better be gone though since I don't see him again for over a month. Well, guess I'd better get over to the bible studies now, and then get my chores here done. I really should do the taxes, but I don't want to do them when I'm in a lot of pain as that makes it hard to concentrate.

whole view of this years garden our spinach and some of your lettuces OK, let me try this again. I know I made an entire post, responding to your pics, yesterday, and it's not here, so I must have closed the browser before I sent it. Sorry, Lulu. But, I just LOVE your garden. I love this angle that you took. I don't think I've ever seen your yard from this angle, before now. It gives a much better perspective of your back yard, in reference to your home. I hope you post more pics as your garden grows, because it's just so lovely, and get a nice crop.
Weird..........your pics aren't showing up in my quote of your post. Well, at least I don't see them.

Our on-line browsing data, browsing history and shopping habits are now being sold so that explains the adds on-line that pop up about things that I have looked at, even though I have done a computer clean up.
If it is not windy today I plan to bake some potatoes outside on my grill. I had tried to bake yellow potatoes, but that did not work, then I read that only russet or red potatoes bake well, duh, here I am old and did not know that, oh well. lol

Good Morning all! Boy what a crazy weekend we had. Everything got all mixed up. Because of the storm, no one could go anywhere on Saturday, so we were all stuck at home just relaxing. Nothing wrong with that. We didn't get a whole foot of snow this time, only about 8 inches. (mainly because it was mixed with sleet and rain at times) Then on Sunday we did our shopping. Jenn and Bob had errands to run too and in fact, we met them at Walmart for awhile. Then we each went on with the rest of our errands. Unfortunately, when they got home, the owners of the complex they live in hadn't plowed the area yet, and Jenn tripped and banged up her knee very badly. I'm hoping she'll go to the doctor today as it looked pretty bad yesterday when they came over. It was their anniversary too so I baked them a cake for desert after supper. When they arrived, the kids grabbed a snack and then got on their snowsuits and ran outside to play. They made a couple of huge snowballs. I thought they were going to make a snowman, but they said they were making a fort with them. They're hoping there will be more snow for next weekend, lol, but I seriously doubt it. I have a feeling their snowballs will be all melted by then. Oh well, they can try again next winter. Since the kids wound up coming over on Monday instead of Sunday, I didn't get to do the taxes like I'd planned to. So I still have to get that done. I'm going to plan on doing that tomorrow. I wanted to come here today so you all wouldn't think I'd deserted you. whole view of this years garden our spinach and some of your lettuces Your garden looks great as always Lulu! whole view of this years garden our spinach and some of your lettuces OK, let me try this again. I think they'll show up after you post your reply... that's what happened last time to me anyway. Our on-line browsing data, browsing history and shopping habits are now being sold so that explains the adds on-line that pop up about things that I have looked at, even though I have done a computer clean up. If it is not windy today I plan to bake some potatoes outside on my grill. I had tried to bake yellow potatoes, but that did not work, then I read that only russet or red potatoes bake well, duh, here I am old and did not know that, oh well. lol I shared my secret of doing potatoes with Jenn yesterday. I boil a bunch of them up with the skin on, then when they're done, I cool them off and stick them in a container in the fridge. From that point on, if I want to make mashed potatoes, all I have to do is grab out however much I need, warm it up in the microwave and mash them. (the skin peels off very easily) Or if I want a baked potato, the same thing. all I have to do is warm it up. Bruce likes to take some and cut them up and then fry them in butter. They taste delicious that way too. Anyway, the point being that by boiling them up ahead of time, I save all the prep work time for the rest of the week. I've used every kind of potato to bake and haven't had a problem, except that some take longer than others. I love squirrels! I love feeding them peanuts on my walks with my Boy... Cheryl, I will post pic's of the garden as she grows...it's looking good thus far! to you all, always in my thoughts and prayers... You know I do too Lulu, lol. wish you could see ours, they're so funny!
Well, I'm off to the bible study forum and to see what else is going on. Take care everyone and have a great day today!

Just doing my weekly check-in.
Cindy, how is your neighbor and her daughter doing? I certainly hope they're healing and will be okay. That was nice of you and your other neighbor to clean for them.
About your stye, have you tried castor oil? It's one of my favorite natural cures as it works well on many things, and supposedly styes also.
Yesterday we had a line of strong storms move through. Tomorrow we have another day of severe storms predicted, so they are closing all the district schools at noon, and even our church has cancelled Wednesday night supper and prayer meeting. I suspect we'll be under tornado warnings, or at least watches, during most of the day. Thankfully this time I won't be home alone through it all, as I was yesterday; John will be working from home.
When I realized how bad it was going to be yesterday I went on a frenzy to clear space on one side of the garage to pull in my vehicle (in case of hail) and removed all glass items from the downstairs bathroom - even the mirror off the wall - so I'd have a safe place to go if needed (it's an inner room). It got bad, but not bad enough to hide out. My mother is supposed to have severe storms at her house in GA also, for about 12 hours, so please pray for her safety and for ours (well, for everyone in the path of these storms).
I don't remember if I ever mentioned that Daniel is going on a school trip to Costa Rica. He leaves this Saturday and will be gone for one week. Please pray for him also, that he stays well as there are lots of bugs & flu going around, and for their safety. This is his first trip out of the country AND his first airplane ride.
He's excited but I'm nervous.

He's excited but I'm nervous. Daniel is in my prayers. I'm nervous too. And going outside our country, in this day and age, makes me more nervous, so I'm giving it up to the Lord.
Wow, I'm glad you are not going to be alone in this next storm. That just makes all that wind howling around, be that much less nerve wracking.
Wanted to add - I just saw on weather.com that Cheryl's area is under threat of thunderstorms also for Wednesday, so keep her in your prayers too! And I didn't even KNOW that! I haven't been watching too much TV lately, so missed the weather news, even tonight. I saw him on there, talking, but had him 'tuned' out. lol I was actually thinking about going fishing, tomorrow morning. Maybe I'll put that off, huh? I'll decide in the morning. If I can squeeze in a few casts between the raindrops, it'll be worth it. Need to clear my head and not think about anything for a while. Even if it's a short while. But, after I read your post, I checked the weather site and apparently I have two storms, heading my way. One out of the North West and another one out of the South West. That's the way it's been happening lately. Makes me think of the ol' one-two punch. ~left...right~....slap.
Oklahoma and Missouri usually get slammed before I do, so please also include Margie and Ruthanne in your prayers.
I've been keeping myself pretty busy, these last few days. Today was an absolutely gorgeous day. 76 degrees! I cleaned some more of my garage and changed a few things that needed doing, and today I finally planted my peas! Can't plant anything else, just yet, but that's a start. OH, and I mowed the yard. Just the riding mower, though. Didn't do any trimming. The rider was enough to tear my body to pieces. And yesterday, I spotted a congregation of ants busying themselves, out by the shed, so I stopped everything I was doing and shook ant poison around the house. I thought to myself 'I hope it rains and I won't have to drag the garden hose all around', to activate the poison. And about an hour later, it rained a little, then a LOT. It poured down with a vengeance! Careful what you ask for, huh? LOL Sure wish I'd spread some limestone about, too. But, that would have been the END of my day, if I did that. And no start for today either. Seems like it takes me a couple of days, anymore, to recuperate from a lot of standing or walking on uneven ground. OH WELL, such is life.

you guys talking about storms, and here I sit with 80 degree weather, wishing for a thunder storm! I know, I be weird, but I really do love a good storm...I'll be praying for you both through out the day for sure, and for Daniel's trip Lorrie! I agree with Cheryl, I'm for NOT leaving this country...but then again, I never have!!!! I woke up in a sad mood today, last nite I was preparing to make supper, and I asked Matt to brake a roll of hamburger in half for me, it was frozen, he processed to slam it on the edge of my 30 year old butcher block on wheels, it's extra counter space in the kitchen....it's a very much used kitchen tool! I said, hey, don't brake my butcher block, as he slammed the frozen roll on the edge and the whole top split in two.... the look on Matt's face was priceless... I had to leave the room, I was wicked angry....so Matt ran around getting what was needed to fix the butcher block, and asked me to help....he got glue all over the floor and me cause I was trying to clean it up before it dried...my hands still feel rough from the glue....I hate the feeling....I'm using coconut oil on them to get the glue to come off, it worked, but they still feel yucky....so my kitchen is a mess..... after that year with the room mates from hell, Ron and I have kept a clean kitchen, Matt's helped, he does the dishes most nites now...but it's a mess this morning, and I hate waking up to a messy kitchen....ugh...and much less counter top to work on....Matt's gonna fix the butcher block, it's glued, but now it needs to be sanded and oiled.....we'll see.... for you all every day....

Well stand back Lulu so that you do not get glue on you. lol Thanks for the potato advice Cindy, I will try what you said to do. Yesterday I baked russet potatoes for 1 hour and they still are not soft, so that does it, I am bringing out the heavy artillery, fire in a grill, I think I will do that now and I will have to put other stuff I planned to do on hold. edit to add- well I did it, I went and got dry twigs from a mesquite tree, put them in a cheap outdoor grill, got the lighter fluid and started a fire, a flame flashed towards me and I got lighter fluid on the potatoes, the handle of the lid was to hot to touch, I smoked up the area and the potatoes did not soften. I came in the house and asked Ron what stinks in here and he said maybe one of the dogs pooped in the house, then I smelled my clothes and they stunk from the smoke and Ron said, go change your clothes and wash them, the smell is making my eyes water. So I am laughing, but I am done with baking potatoes. Now I need to take a shower also.

OH NO! Oh, Lulu, I would have cried! I hope he can finish fixing it good as new. I love butcher block. I had thought about doing that in my kitchen, instead of the "stone look" counter we did do, but I changed my mind after I saw what it cost.
We got a LOT of wind. The forecast said 22 mph winds. I think we got every bit of that. I looked outside a little while ago, at Ed's chimes and saw that the wind had them all tangled up. So, I ran out and brought it inside. I'll put it back outside in a couple of days, when the winds die down. We got some rain and I heard some thunder a few times, but no warnings, watches or anything of the sort for my area, so it's been pretty quiet all day. So quiet that when the phone rang, I about jumped out of my skin. LOL

Anna, I hate to say it, but it sounds like you're either getting hold of old potatoes (woody), or you have seed potatoes, which are also woody and not for consumption. I've caught some stores passing off old or seed potatoes a LOT lately. Especially Walmart. Their potatoes are old or not stored properly. A potato has to be stored in a 40 degree controlled environment. I bake my potatoes in the oven, when I've timed my supper correctly, because it takes at least an hour at 450 degrees. But, if I haven't timed it right, then I microwave them. It averages 10 minutes on HIGH COOK for 6 medium sized ones that fit inside the length of your hand. I like to boil my potatoes, with skins on, like Cindy mentioned, when I'm making potato salad. The peelings come off way easier and no potato is wasted, that way. But, when I'm making fried potatoes (or some people and restaurants call them homefries) I peel them raw, slice them thin and put a lot of butter in the skillet (iron skillet browns them better), and pile them in and put a lid on them so they cook through. Turn them a few times, making sure they are crispy brown. They are so good. The crispies are the best part of the dish. Serve that with a breaded fried pork cutlet, and a side of Van Camp's Pork-n-Beans and it's guaranteed to make you realize you've eaten WAY too much, but OH is it ever so delicious. LOL

I finally got the taxes done! I'm so glad. But yesterday was a fiasco from start to finish lol. It was just one of those days, so I'm extra glad I got the taxes done anyway. I was determined I wasn't going to wait any longer. I hope you all had a good day yesterday. Just doing my weekly check-in.

He's excited but I'm nervous. Thanks for asking Lorrie. My neighbors daughter is doing better. She's going to be released from one hospital and sent to another one in a couple of days so she can start rehab. She'll be there for a few months as she has to learn to walk all over again among other things, but the good news is that she is alive and will eventually be just fine. As for my neighbor, she's still not doing well, but there may be some improvement in that they think she's coming out of the coma or at least trying to. The doctors are concerned because she still wasn't reacting to pain in any part of her body. I'm hoping that's simply because she wasn't completely awake yet (which she wasn't). So to me, that's good news in that she's at least trying to wake up and that she's still alive which they didn't expect either. So I'm just going to keep on praying for her.
No, I haven't done anything to or with the stye yet. I don't have any castor oil, but will see what I can find. Thanks for the information though.
I hope you stay safe from the storms Lorrie. I don't know if they're the same ones or not, but storms just started hitting us today too. They're not bad though, at least I don't think so.
That's neat that Daniel get to go to Costa Rica. I'll be praying for all of you.
Wanted to add - I just saw on weather.com that Cheryl's area is under threat of thunderstorms also for Wednesday, so keep her in your prayers too! Will do!Just doing my weekly check-in.

Sounds like you got a lot done Cheryl, that's great! The weather has been making my body miserable lately....at least I think it's the weather... If it's not, then it's another flare up. Either way though, it just means it hurts What bums me out (or would if I allowed myself to dwell on it) is that there are so many things that I want to do, and can't do; as well as a fairly large number of things that I need to have done that I can't do, and can't bring myself to ask anyone else to do them. I keep looking for a miracle or some other way that would allow me to do them myself. Doesn't seem to be happening though. you guys talking about storms, and here I sit with 80 degree weather, wishing for a thunder storm! I know, I be weird, but I really do love a good storm...I'll be praying for you both through out the day for sure, and for Daniel's trip Lorrie! I agree with Cheryl, I'm for NOT leaving this country...but then again, I never have!!!! I'm so sorry that your butcher block broke Lulu! I'm sure that Matt must feel horrible about it too. That's good that he's able to fix it though. I know what you mean about waking up to a messy kitchen. I'm the same way. I guess I got it from my Mom as she was that way too. When I'm in a lot of extra pain,Bruce will often tell me to sit and relax after dinner instead of doing the dishes, or he will tell me to leave the few dishes from snacks and drinks that we had later in the evening until the next day. He gets so frustrated when I won't, and just doesn't understand that I can't stand waking up to a messy kitchen. He's learned over time that the only way he can get me to stop is if he does them himself Well stand back Lulu so that you do not get glue on you. lol Thanks for the potato advice Cindy, I will try what you said to do. So I am laughing, but I am done with baking potatoes. Now I need to take a shower also. I'm sorry Marlene but I just had to laugh the way you described it! I could just imagine it all happening LOL. A perfect picture of someone who's absolutely determined to do something when everything that can go wrong does go wrong! I'm glad you're ok though and didn't get burned. That would have been awful! What happened to you, reminds me of what happened to me with chicken a couple of times. You won't believe this! The first time was when Bruce and I were still dating. I invited him over to dinner and was baking a whole chicken, with mashed potatoes, green beans, etc. A nice dinner. It should have been done at 5pm, but it was no where near done when I checked it. I checked it again in a half hour and it didn't seem like it had cooked any more at all. That stupid chicken didn't get done until after 9pm that night! I was so embarrassed! That had never happened to me before! And it wasn't a large chicken either.... it was just enough for about 4 people, and it wasn't frozen! I put it down to just something weird happening and forgot about it until about 5 years later the same thing happened. Only this time I had put the chicken in my crockpot to cook all day on low. It should have been done by 4:30 or 5 at the latest, but even putting it on high it didn't get done until late that night. I couldn't believe it! I swore I wasn't going to ever cook another chicken again! (I didn't keep that vow though, as I cooked a chicken for us and Jenn and her family last year and it turned out just fine, thank the Lord!) you guys talking about storms, and here I sit with 80 degree weather, wishing for a thunder storm! I know, I be weird, but I really do love a good storm...I'll be praying for you both through out the day for sure, and for Daniel's trip Lorrie! I've gotten hold of some potatoes that simply refused to get done too. Never a whole bag of them, but just one or two in a bag of potatoes. It's happened with several different kinds we've gotten. I just put it down to being a fluke like my chicken that refused to cook, and just nuke them in the microwave until they're done. I just add them to my list of foods that are trying to make me give up cooking

Ran errands this morning. My kids gave me a gift card at Barnes & Noble for Christmas so I used the balance to order a book I heard about: "How to Understand and Apply the New Testament" by Andrew Naselli. Should be here in about a week.
Warmer weather here and the sun is shining. Going to our daughter's on Saturday.
Hugs to all.

That's too funny about the chicken not cooking. I've never had that problem with chicken. My problem with chicken, is cooking it too much, because I HAVE to get it done, done. Ed was the same way about chicken. He really didn't care for it, but he'd only eat if I cooked it. But, he'd always say "Burn it good!" No where else, except when his sister would make chicken soup. But her chicken soup has no chicken in it. Just homemade noodles with chicken broth poured over it in a bowl. One holiday, when Ed and I were visiting his sister, I was helping to wash the dirty dishes after the meal. I found a big stock pot, on the stove, that had some really nasty looking water in it. I thought it might have had something cooked in it and was full of water to soak. I had the sink full of dish water, so I asked her if I can dump this through the commode. Every single one of them dove at me, yelling NOOOOOO! I flinched and said "What?!" Ed said, "That's the chicken soup!" I was so embarrassed. A terrible insult to the host, for sure! Then I added insult to injury and asked, "Well, where's the chicken?" My SIL said, "Oh I throw that away." I was like....'ok Cheryl, you can shut up and sit down, now, before you say something you can't take back.'

You wanted to pour the soup down the commode? And THEN said, "Where's the chicken?" (Reminds me of "Where's the beef?") I can just picture it, and it's hilarious! Popping in to thank you for the prayers for safety yesterday. The weather wasn't too bad at our house as far as being in danger of tornadoes (it was worse at my Mom's in GA), but downtown Columbia had some flooding. And we got the high winds today - boy was it fierce, but no storms. Funny you should mention the wind chimes Cheryl, because we heard ours too! I REALLY appreciate the prayers for Daniel's trip also. We have to have him at the Charlotte airport at 8 a.m. on Saturday. Just finished up getting the last of his things packed; hope we haven't forgotten anything. Please continue praying for the safety and health of everyone on this trip!! Thank you all SO much. Cindy, thank you for the update on your neighbor and her daughter. I am glad to hear there is improvement. Saying a prayer now for continued recovery. Lulu -- SO sorry to hear about your butcher block. I hope Matt is able to get it repaired and properly restored. Anna, Barb, Margie, Ruthanne & Seven - hope you are all doing well and staying out of trouble!
