Only two more pints of tree flowers to gather, I have already gathered two pints of flowers, dried them and put them in tea bags. The tea bags I made from coffee filters. Good day Cindy, Margie, Lulu and Leigh! Hi Barbra and Daniel.

Good day Cindy, Margie, Lulu and Leigh! Hi Barbra and Daniel. Great job Anna! That sounds like a lot of work to me, but I'm sure your tea is delicious and that it's worth it! Sounds like everybody's had a busy week. On Wednesday John worked from home and we took some time that afternoon to walk through the zoo. That night at church one of our members, Darrell, who went to the Philippines five years ago to be a missionary, was home and gave an update on his work. It is amazing what God has accomplished through him. Darrell said he was a cocaine addict for 20 years and when God got ahold of him, he wanted to live for the Lord. He decided to go to the Philippines for two years (I don't know that he's even with a mission board), and here it is five years later and he's still there and considers it his home now. He even married his housekeeper a few months ago! (That was a great story in itself!) He does all kinds of things to get into the rural villages and get the gospel message to the people -- provides food, clothes, medical care, shoes, eyeglasses -- whatever they need, to get in and teach them about Jesus. I think you all prayed for Darrell back in the fall -- he'd gotten a little cut in his leg and it ended up becoming severely infected from the contaminated water -- and I mentioned it on here. He said even God used that, because the doctor who treated him at the hospital is now partnering with him to go along occasionally on his trips into the villages and do medical missions. He said it was totally worth the pain and suffering! Hope you all have a nice weekend ahead!

Leigh, I love how you are always so kind, you must be a blessing for your church members to be around, and Lulu has more patience than I have. Good to read about Darrell, God is blessing him, I will pray for him today and in the future as much as I remember to. Sounds like you had a fun afternoon with dh at the zoo.

Hi everyone! Sorry I didn't make it into this thread yesterday, but we had a really busy day. Had to do the shopping as usual, then go to our granddaughter Maddie's birthday party. After that, we grabbed some milk from yet another store and finally got to come home. It was a long day, but a nice one.Thank you, Daniel! I really enjoyed that song. I never heard it before either. Gorgeous day here. I've had a cold all week. Hope I feel better soon. Hugs to all. Oh, that's too bad Margie. I hope you're feeling better today!Only two more pints of tree flowers to gather, I have already gathered two pints of flowers, dried them and put them in tea bags. The tea bags I made from coffee filters. Good day Cindy, Margie, Lulu and Leigh! Hi Barbra and Daniel. Wow! That's a LOT of flowers Anna! It must take an awful lot of patience and persistence to make those tea bags!Only two more pints of tree flowers to gather, I have already gathered two pints of flowers, dried them and put them in tea bags. He said it was totally worth the pain and suffering! Hope you all have a nice weekend ahead! That's so awesome Lorrie! I would have loved to be able to hear what all he had to say about it. Is it just me, or does it seem like more and more people are just doing whatever it is they feel led by the Lord to do, without going through some kind of "official" training or group to do it? Leigh, I love how you are always so kind, you must be a blessing for your church members to be around, and Lulu has more patience than I have. Good to read about Darrell, God is blessing him, I will pray for him today and in the future as much as I remember to. Sounds like you had a fun afternoon with dh at the zoo. I agree with you Anna, about Leigh and Lulu, but I think you have a lot more patience then I do too!Hello Leigh, Anna, Cindy, Lulu and everyone. Been away for a bit. Getting a bit better. My leg is finally almost healed. Praise God. I take it one day at a time. Been reading a lot . I hope everyone has a Blessed Weekend. God Bless. It's good to hear from you Mark, and I'm so glad that your leg is healing. I know this has been a long and hard road for you. It helps to know that in the end, God will reward you so greatly that it will make it all seem minor. Hard to imagine that though, at least for me, but it helps to keep me going. I'm sure it helps you as well.
I had to stay home from church today. I really wanted to go, but finally decided that it would be best for me to stay home and rest. Maybe that way, my body will finally start behaving itself again.
Oh, did you all see what I posted on FB about my granddaughter Isabella??? I'm so very proud of her! She loves to read and loves to write, (just like me) and is very good at both. She's sent me copies of some stories she's written and they're very good, especially for her age. She has the vocabulary and reading and writing skill of an adult and is only in the 6th grade. Anyway, all the kids in her entire school were to write an essay about their favorite teacher, and they were all entered into the Barnes and Nobel 2016, "My Favorite Teacher" contest, and her essay was chosen unanimously by the judging panel at the store They had a ceremony there and read the essay to the teacher she wrote about. Mel, Isabella's mom, gave me a copy of the essay which I was very proud to receive since Isabella won't let anyone else read it as it's too embarrassing to her! having read it myself, I'm quite sure that her teacher has framed that essay and will treasure it for the rest of her life! For winning the context, she got a $500 gift certificate to spend at the store. Being like me, that's like being in heaven to be able to get that many books! Plus, her teacher also got a certificate for the same amount to spend at the store, and finally her school got $5000 donated to it! Pretty neat huh? I'm so proud of her I could burst!

Congratulations to Isabella. That's neat to see talent being rewarded at such a young age. I bet you and Bruce are so very proud of her. Thank you for sharing this inspiring story.

Awesome news today. Went to see the surgeon and he told us No Surgery. Praise God for answered prayers. My legs are improving and I am so grateful for my friends here at Fresh Hope. I have to go back in 6 weeks, they want to keep an eye on things to make sure that it's doing what it is supposed to be doing.

That's part of what makes being in God's family so nice cause we can help each other, even if it's just being someone to talk to and sending up prayers for each other. A bit choppy response but I am glad to hear Dogstaff that you are feeling better. I really miss everyone but hopefully I can be here a bit more often. I any case thank God and thank you FH for being with me during my healing process. We've missed you too, but have understood the rough time you've been going through. You've amazed me with your spiritual strength and perseverance and have proven the truth of God's Word. Thank you brother! (It's so neat to have brothers and sisters to me as I was an only child lol)

Good to read about Darrell, God is blessing him, I will pray for him today and in the future as much as I remember to. Sounds like you had a fun afternoon with dh at the zoo. Anna, thank you so much, that was such a nice thing to say and it made my day! Cindy, what wonderful news about Isabella, and what an honor! When I read your post about it the other day, I caught myself saying right out loud, "That's GREAT!!!" We join in your happiness and pride of such an awesome accomplishment! And the award wasn't half-bad, either! And Mark, what wonderful news about YOU too!!! THAT is a tremendous praise -- no more surgery! Thank God for hearing our prayers and helping you to heal! Cindy has it right about your spiritual strength and perseverance. Margie, glad to hear you are feeling better; a bad cold is even more miserable during the warmer months (at least my mother always said that, and I think she's correct). Lulu & Kel, hope things are going well for you two. Well it's been a busy few days and the rest of the week will stay busy; I went to the zoo again today (Tuesday actually, it's now early Wednesday) - this time with a couple of gals from the ladies choir I'm in, and several of their friends. We had a great time visiting and talking; it's always a joy getting to know new people. Then, Tuesday afternoon was our last day of tutoring at the elementary school down the street from church; we played Banana Grams and the children had lots of fun. (Spelling practice!) I'm going to join my parents' senior adult group for their semi-annual retreat for the next couple of days... so I'd better get busy sleeping.

God's so good to grant that for her, and to give her the talent she has for reading and writing too.
One of the things that's been bothering me about my new church, is trying to get to know the people there. It's hard to do when I can't go to Sunday School or join in most of the activities that take place during the week. I'm very grateful that the Lord's allowing me to go to church again, and I suppose i should just let it go at that. But I'd really like to know the people and be part of their lives too, to help them when they need help, or encourage them or whatever they need, you know? I guess all I can do is ask the Lord to help me find ways to do it. I see how involved you are at your church, and wish I could do that again too. Well, I need to remember that the Lord has a purpose in this too, so I'll have to rest in that, and keep my eyes and ears open to Him for opportunities I guess. But if you have any suggestions, I'm open to hearing them!

God's so good to grant that for her, and to give her the talent she has for reading and writing too. Well, I had to stop and think, "What sort of strange things is Cindy talking about??" but then remembered -- this is the retreat where last year I met volunteer workers who are from your neck of the woods (Keene) and know Bruce! Actually, I think it's their nephew "Dutch" who works with Bruce. Okay, you were just kidding about the "strange things" but that was really fun to meet someone who knows you! THAT is the retreat I was supposed to leave for, but guess what? My phone rang just after 7 this morning... Daddy had been having abdominal & back pain all night so Mother was getting ready to take him to Urgent Care. Turns out he has a kidney stone (gall stones too, but I think the KS is causing the pain). So, of course they can't go on the retreat now, so I decided not to go either, although I could have. If they need me to I can go to their house, but am waiting to hear what the urologist wants to do. The good thing is that he's not in too terribly much pain (as of the last time I talked to them, a couple of hours ago.) I hate that this happened, and on Daddy's birthday, too.
Then Cindy said: One of the things that's been bothering me about my new church, is trying to get to know the people there. And you may have already done this, but does the church have a FB page? If so, you might join the church page and introduce yourself, saying that you want to get to know people but explaining your situation. I would also 'friend' as many of the church members as you can. Believe it or not, I've made some very close church friends over FB alone -- people who "in real life" are shy and will hardly speak, but they really respond well in writing. (I do better sometimes writing, myself, although I'm not at all shy and do love meeting people. I'm just not a quick thinker to always know what to say face-to-face.) Anyway, that was what popped into my head after reading your comment - maybe someone else will have more ideas for you.

Have fun Leigh, it is always nice to read what you are doing.
Cindy, here is something you could do to meet the church ladies. Give one lady your phone number and tell her you would like to meet a few ladies over coffee at your house, and let that woman talk to a few women and all agree on a time. Just tell the woman you can't get out of the house much ..... but want to meet the church members.
For me to just chat on-line with Christians while doing a Bible is enough. I am so enjoying the Bible studies. I have to try to learn others names at chat when there log in name is something different. I don't like to get out of the house and go to a church, I always get light headed and feel like I might pass out when being crowded in a building with people. When I was a child and my parents took me to the Catholic church, with no air conditioning, I always had to walk outside, so did another man he had to do that also, so I wasn't alone. Even going grocery shopping I pray because I struggle with anxiety.

That's too bad about your dad Lorrie. I've heard that those things are really painful too, so I'm praying now that the Lord will relieve any pain he may be in and help him heal completely and quickly! Not very good to have happen ever, but especially not on his birthday! Thank you so much for your advice Lorrie. I actually did already do part of that. I've "liked" their page and posted on it and get my pastor's posts daily. He sent me a personal friend request as well which of course I accepted (and so did Jenn lol) . I haven't yet found many of the members to send friend requests to, but I'm watching and will get them as soon as I see any of them. I have to rely on Jenn and Bruce to remember people's names though cause I'm awful at that lol. I hadn't thought of using facebook to get to know them, but you're right, I can do that, and I can invite them here too!
I have a praise report for you all... I'm so excited about it that I can hardly stand it! First, you have to know that I've been praying for a long time that the Lord would send a godly Christian into Jenn's life to be her friend. I've been concerned about her getting too much involved with worldly friends. Well, lo and behold, last night she calls me and tells me that a woman she's known for some time had messaged her and asked her for help. Well, Jenn's the kind that would give the shirt off her back to anyone who needed it, so I knew whatever the problem was that Jenn would say yes, but was as shocked as she was when I found out her problem. She was in desperate need of someone to do a bible study with her!!! Of course Jenn immediately said she'd be happy to help, and would do a bible study with her, and they set it up for every Friday. When she called and told me, she said that now that she had time to think about it, she was scared to death! I assured her that was completely normal and actually a good sign - we need to be humble and not know it alls. She was afraid of saying "the wrong things" that might scare her away, and other things like that, which again I told her is normal and that I went through the same thoughts and feelings every time I did it too. That seemed to really surprise her We talked about where was the best place to start, and she said the one thing that made me know she was going to do just fine: she said she had planned on praying about it and studying herself first to see what the Lord would have her do. I just wanted to jump up and down and shout for joy!!! That's my girl!!!!! God is so awesome!!!!!!
Have fun Leigh, it is always nice to read what you are doing.

I'm sorry to hear about your problem with anxiety though. That must be a struggle for you. I'm glad you've found a way around it though.
Well, I'm supposed to work on the bills today, so I guess I'd better go read the threads here and post so I can get on with the regular business too.
I hope you all have a wonderful day in the Lord today! I spent a wonderful morning with Him in His Word and am just filled with all kinds of things to share from it!

Lorrie, hope your Dad feels better soon.
Mark, glad to hear your good health news.
I had overnight company last night - hubby's brother and wife. They flew from DFW airport for a few days in New York City. They'll stay here again Sunday night and then drive home to Oklahoma.
I got another cage for my 2 parakeets. It's a tad smaller but it has a seed guard built in and it's lighter so it's easier to lift. When I transferred the birds to the new cage one of them escaped. She flew into the bedroom toward the window. I guess since she could see outside she thought it was a good escape route. I trapped her between the glass and the window blind and got her into the new cage. Good grief! Enough excitement for one day.
Hugs to all.

Good day Margie, parakeets are lovely birds.
Good new Cindy about your prayer being answered for Jenn to have a Christian friend, now you can pray for the Lord to bless Jenn and friend Bible study, and hear from her how that is going.
I did not know that churches have facebook sites and that people get to know each other better by talking there, that does seem like the best thing to do, lol my advice was sooo old fashioned.

NO Anna, your advice was great! It's always best to get to know someone in person, but since Cindy can't always get out, that made me think about FB. I loved your idea and am sure Cindy did too! Margie, I imagine it would've been funny watching you trying to catch your parakeet! Haha! Cindy, that is great news about Jenn's new friend, and especially that she wants someone to study the Bible with. I know Jenn will do great because, first off as you said, she's seeking the Lord's guidance, and second, because she's been mentored by the best -- you! Thank you for praying for Daddy. He has had a ROUGH day and the pain is agonizing, but after the second pain pill this afternoon, it finally kicked in and helped. PLEASE continue the prayers that he'll be able to pass the stone. The urologist is giving him until NEXT THURSDAY and if he's still not better, they will do a procedure to remove it. I think a whole week is entirely too long to wait for someone his age and not in the best health to begin with, but nobody asked me. I've heard people say that the pain of a kidney stone is worse than the pain of childbirth, and if that's the truth, then all I can do is . Well it's midnight and I need to get some sleep; John's taking me to the office with him tomorrow to help do some secretarial work and we have to leave at the time when I would normally still be .

How nice for you to have your brother in law and his wife with you! If they flew in though, then how are they going to drive back? Are they buying a car there or renting one?
I have to laugh when reading about you trying to catch the bird. It reminds me of a neighbor I had who loved birds and must have had at least 25 or more of them. They were always getting out and I'd help her catch them LOLGood day Margie, parakeets are lovely birds.
Your advice wasn't at all old fashioned Anna! I appreciated it very much and can apply it along with Lorries. Thank you so much! Yes, it's going to be fun to hear from Jenn how her bible study is going! I'll be praying that the Lord blesses it greatly!NO Anna, your advice was great! Well, I don't know about being mentored by the best lol. I shared with her the mistakes I've made (many of which she saw herself lol) So I guess you could say that I was great at making mistakes and learning from them.
Your poor Dad. I just finished praying for him, but will pray again and ask the Lord to bring him to my mind throughout the day as well. I've heard that about the pain as well, and hope that your dad will pass this thing quickly and easily. Please don't let him skip any pain pills or not take one because the pain "isn't all that bad". I hope you don't mind me giving advice but after all my years working with the elderly in health care and dealing with their pain, and then the many years of dealing with my own, it's one thing I truly understand. Once the pain pills are "working", if the patient doesn't take the next one when they're due, the pain can get ahead of them again and be horrible. When that happens, it takes longer to get the pain under control again, and sometimes the only way (or at least the quickest) to get it under control again is the doctor giving them a double dose. So it's really important for their comfort for them to take the pills as ordered, every time it's due, at least until the stone is passed. After that, they can then start trying to do without them, when they feel the pain is lessening. But then you're probably well aware of this yourself because of your migraines and John's problems too. Sorry, sometimes I just don't think.
Have fun being secretary!
Well, it's bill paying day, since I didn't do it yesterday, so I've got to get busy! But still have a couple of other posts to make here first.
Hope everyone has a great day in the Lord!

Saying prayers for your dad, Leigh and his family. I heard today brother Michael say that when a person needs prayer for a health problem, don't just pray for that person but pray for their family also. How true because the family members need prayer also.
Many of us have probably been in the place where a family member is suffering and someone says to us that we do not care enough, or act like we care enough, how hurtful that is, when they should of just offered kind words and to say they would pray. That happened to me before.

True Anna, people can often say hurtful things. Sadly, Christians can be every bit as hateful as unbelievers at times.
I've been thinking of how much I learned from everyone on Fresh Hope. Because of the fellowship we had there, I grew so very much, and I'm so grateful for it. Often I learned from people that others would have thought the least likely to teach us something too. And as it always seems like, the more I learned the more I realized that I didn't know. Sometimes I envy those who lived before the flood and lived such long lives, as they had so much more time to learn life's lessons in. But then again, I don't think I'd really want to live that long lol

Good evening Lulu, Anna, Margie, Cindy. I had a visit to the Wound Center on Friday. The wound is getting smaller and smaller. However, they had to cut skin in the wound. Can you say painful. I can . Lol But on the much brighter side, I am now 2-3 weeks away from leaving the Wound Center. Praise God! I and my doctor's are pleased with the outcome. I hope each and everyone of you have a Blessed Weekend.

However, SO glad to hear you are almost through at the Wound Center! Lulu, is this a Jazzy weekend? What all are you doing? Cindy, thank you so much for the pain pill advice for my father. I spoke to him late this afternoon and he was doing pretty well; pain has been minimal, so I passed along your suggestions about keeping to the schedule with his meds. He appreciated your concern and prayers, and said he is pretty much keeping to the doctor's directions, because it wears off about when it's time for the next pill, anyway. Anna, thank you for your prayers for Daddy AND the family also. Actually, it's only Mother who is there taking care of him, although of course my sister and I are both concerned... but too far away to help. Well my baby boy turns 17 today. I just posted a few baby pics of him on FB and we'll be taking him out to lunch after church, and I got him a mango key lime pie from Publix. He much prefers pie to cake ("I'm a pie man," he's been saying since he was a tiny little boy ), and the mango key lime flavor is usually only sold in the spring and is his favorite. Also, our pastor retired after being at our church for 30 years. Last Sunday was his final sermon, but today was his actual date of retirement, so we had a reception for him. The deacons have been collecting money for a gift, and I just assumed they would give him cash, but no -- they collected enough to buy him a new car! He was SO surprised (so were all of us, I think!). It was a wonderful and much-deserved gift, as he had an old car with many miles; I don't know how many but I heard over 300,000, but assume that HAD to be an exaggeration. Anyway, after all our church has been through over the last few months with the split, I think he can retire knowing how much we love him and are grateful for his service.

Leigh, they use a salve in the wound , that is supposed to kill the pain. It works most of the time, to a certain point. I did not feel the procedure until 30 min later. I still have pain but I have it under control. It's all good. Sorry to hear that your Pastor retired. I bet he had some great sermons. I hope and pray that the new Pastor is a good man of God. Congratulations on your son's 17th Birthday. And for the record, I prefer pie over cake. Lol.
