I realized it was time to start a new thread so copied the posts since yesterday so we wouldn't lose anything. Still half asleep and couldn't think of a title better then the old one so just stuck with it Hello. Once a year I walk along the dirt road near my home and pick up the trash that is thrown off the side of the road, so I won't have to look at it and also I take out a mesquite bush that has thorns, that grows on the road also. So I did that and I also read about autoimmune disease. I was able to learn as best I could why my body has the problems it does. About heredity, genetics, free radicals, oxidation, and the break down of the cells with aging. Cindy do you have in your area the option of grocery delivery to your home, or drive up and pick up option that you could use? There are meals in a bag in the frozen section of the store that taste good. I tried them in the past and thought they were good, I don't buy them now though. That would be good to have when you have company, you could open the bag and warm up a meal in pot. Do you have an autoimmune disease too Anna? Which one do you have? They're sure not any fun, are they? No, we don't have that out here, at least not yet. But as far as the frozen food goes, yes, i do sometimes get some of those for when I'm not up to cooking and the kids are coming over. Hello everyone. It's been a cold, rainy President's Day here in SC. It was a school holiday for Daniel, but he worked a five hour day shift at Chick Fil-A, then turned around and went back a couple of hours later to fill in for someone tonight. John and I had a lazy day here at the house, went and walked through Lowe's and Kirkland's just to get out for awhile, then picked up a pizza to bring home for our supper. We ate it by the fire and watched a couple of Andy Griffith Show re-runs.
Anna, was today your annual trash pick-up day? Have you been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder also (RA?)? I have learned so much about RA just by being in the FH pain forum over the years. I had no idea how terrible it is until reading Cindy's posts about it - not just what she experiences, but also the articles she's posted. My John has Crohn's, which is why I mentioned the biologics his GI wants him to take. He wants him to begin Humira (which is also the one I had decided might be best after researching the different ones), that is IF we can get insurance approval and coverage. It is outrageously expensive, but the infusion-type biologics are even worse.
Cindy, it's good that you were able to get some R&R yesterday (and hopefully today too), and how sweet of Bruce to do the grocery shopping for you. Glad that you got to spend time with Jenn's family yesterday, even if they didn't get to eat with you. Anna's idea about the freezer meals is a good one, which you may already do anyway, especially when you have company. Do you have any snow on the ground yet?
Anna, that's interesting about being able to use cell phones at certain bank ATMs, in place of cards. I haven't heard about that, although our bank lets us deposit checks by taking a photo and texting it in; don't know if that is common everywhere, or not. Lulu, it's your birthday eve!!!!! Have you had a nice holiday today, and you still have one more free day to go - you lucky thing!! Hope you're enjoying your time off and getting some things done.

In case you all haven't heard, Jeanette had her baby boy on Valentine's Day: Evan Dee, born at 11:48 am. 10 lbs 6 oz, 21.65 inches long. Congratulations to Jeanette and your whole family!!!
Hi Lorrie! Congrats to Jeannette! Yes, all those biologics and really all the RA meds (which are pretty much the same as the ones they use for Crohn's or any autoimmune disease I guess) are super expensive. Oh yeah, there's some snow on the ground, though not much. Bruce spent several hours on the snowmobile yesterday, which is a good thing since it may be the first and last time he'll get to ride it. Because although it snowed a very little bit yesterday, and has been super cold for the last week (way below 0), today it's already up to 50 and everything is melting, and rain is on the way. Talk about super crazy weather, huh? The only places with any decent amounts of snow are on the mountains in the ski resorts where they're making snow daily, or at least they were. They obviously won't be able to today though. So after a week of way below 0 weather, it appears that we're going to have a week of weather that's way above normal, generally in the high 40's to 50. Well, except for one day, right in the middle when it's supposed to have a high of 32. You know, just to throw everyone off.
I'd love a piece of Lulu's birthday cake! Are you going to be older then dirt like I am now Lulu? I thought I'd die laughing when Jennifer realized that I was 60 years old now. She couldn't/wouldn't believe it and acted like I might as well be 160 years old!
Hi I am done with picking up trash mostly bottles and cans. I do that during the winter so I can safely reach my hand down to get the trash without getting an unwelcome surprise. Last week I went to the north and picked up trash also. I saw a lot of white feathers on the ground, it was in the same area I once before saw many feathers on the ground, nothing but feathers, after that when I was walking someone shot off a powerful gun four times, maybe a shot gun, I heard a whistle sound from the gun after the shots. A whizzing sound, that made me feel nervous. On my way back home I saw half of a dead carcass of a smaller animal.
To answer your question Leigh, I have to closely watch my diet because certain foods like yeast and more can cause my immune system to attack my thyroid, which I already have thyroid damage from that happening before I knew to change my diet, also to watch that my immune system does not go on the attack somewhere else, like the liver. I think it is just old age.
Yesterday Ron went to town and saw a man laying face down on a dirt road. There were two sheriffs there and some people there, and an hour later on his way home people were still gathered there but the body was gone. Don't know what happened, maybe we will find out soon.
I hope the man was alright and not dead! That would be scary! What do you think all the feathers were from? Well, obviously birds, but I mean why?

Well, Cindy, I'm at least AS old as the dirt! lol 61 today! Ron will be 60 next month...man, the years are going by so wicked fast....I got the best birthday present ever this morning. My cousin Megan had her son this morning! His name is Raymond....beautiful big boy! I remember teasing her to have him on the 16th, well, she planned it and she was induced this AM...I got teary eyed, wishing I was there for his birthday, so she posted pictures on Facebook for me....I'm still teary eyed..... Lorrie, thanks for the cake! lol.... Ron and I are car shopping...we were hoping to go a while with out a car payment, but alas, Matt's engine gave up the ghost over the weekend, so we will be getting me another car so he can drive my old HHR.....maybe, if his bank will work with him to get another car loan and roll what he still owes for the dead one then we'll wait....so that could be put under prayer! What a wonderful blessing for your birthday Lulu! I'm so happy for you! I was looking at the cards Grace and Elijah made me again yesterday and had to laugh because Gracie tried desperately to draw 60 candles on her cake. She got lost though and actually drew a few over that! I love getting their hand made cards best of all. So Ron's as old as us too huh? I can't wait till Bruce is. He teases me all the time cause he's a year younger then I am. Just wait though, his turn his coming!
That's too bad about Matt's car. I'll certainly lift it up to the Father for you guys though.
Hey, you never said, or at least I didn't see it...how are you house guests settling in? Are you enjoying the children?
This is my new bakers rack that we assembled yesterday. It will hold my dry beans and sprout and such, as I have little kitchen storage space. The chair in the picture is the one I told you about that Art gave us. Oh, that's a nice bakers rack Anna, and I love the chair too! I'd love to have one just like it as it looks very comfortable! You have a very pretty house! Hi Cindy, about the white feathers I saw. That seemed out of place here in this area. We don't have birds in this area with large white feathers and the feathers were even in a circle. At first thought I wondered if it was a large cat, coyote or wolf that killed a bird. I have seen smaller brown feathers scattered around, and that would be from an animal that got a bird. Feathers have meaning in the occult world and around here people contact mediums. White feathers are used by Native Americans to communicate with spirit, sky gods and transcending the ethereal realm. Maybe a small group of people stopped by for a ritual. That was the area that I picked up most of the trash at and the trash was all there like overnight. Yeah, that makes sense. I hate it when people leave their trash outside like that. You'd think that people would automatically know better. I bet Jesus won't stand for littering during the Millennium!
Well, I haven't even had my coffee yet. Woke up real late this morning. So I'm going to go get that and settle down and talk to the Lord and read His Word for now. See you all later.

back to the dysfunctional world....ugh....it's been a wicked nice weekend though...we did get me a new HHR, a 2011 for under $10,000. so our car payment is under $200! she's pretty, all white with a sun roof and all the bells and whistles! Cindy, I guess I should start a thread in the struggles/trials forum...lets just say, it's not been easy thus far...

I'm so sorry to hear that Lulu. I'll say a prayer and trust the Lord to guide me. If it's something you'd like to talk about though, I'm sure we'd all be more then happy to try and encourage you though.
I took my last antibiotic this morning, but started running a fever during the night last night. When I woke up this morning, I felt very sick; couldn't stop sneezing at one point when Bruce was getting ready for work. He looked like he wanted to run over and save me, but realized there wasn't anything he could do. Poor guy. It's funny in retrospect, but I'm sure it didn't feel funny to him then. Anyway, I haven't felt well at all today so far and I was really hoping this weeks worth of antibiotics would do the trick. Yet it doesn't seem to have done so. I know it's too early to tell yet though, so I'll try to wait another week before calling them to see me yet again. Of course, if I get worse before then, I'll call earlier if I think it'll do any good. I guess i could use a lot of prayer myself. On the up side though, the Lord has been working other wonders in my body, and helping me greatly. He's showing me constantly that He's with me and all is under control.
Oh I've got a funny to tell you. I've been working on memorizing scripture for the last few months. I'd memorized 15 or so verses and was working on one that should be well known to me, Phil 4:8, and just couldn't seem to get it right, so was trying not to get frustrated. I was doing better by the time I went to bed and was finally getting it right, but wasn't sure if it would last. Well that night I had the craziest dream. I was in some sort of school and was studying hard as I could for a test. there was another woman who was also a student who was helping me prepare. She kept showing me what I had to know in order to pass, and showed me this long list of things that I had to memorize. I began crying and saying there was no way I'd ever be able to memorize everything after missing 48 days of school! She was comforting me and telling me it really wasn't that hard and that she knew I could do it. In the next scene it seems for some reason she gave me a beautiful brand new coat and I had tried it on. It fit perfectly, and I was thanking her and telling her how very lovely it was as I ran my hand over the beautiful fabric. Somehow the coat was related to what I was supposed to learn. And then I woke up. All I could think of was what a weird dream it was and I immediately asked the Lord why in the world I would have dreamed it, especially since I'd asked him before going to sleep that night to teach me in my sleep. I told Him that I was especially curious about what the 48 days I'd "missed" in school was all about. The next moment I was laughing though because the Lord instantly flashed the verse in my mind: Phil 4:8 - 48! The whole thing was all about my desperate attempt to memorize that verse! And the coat that was given me was "lovely", one of the words I'd kept hanging up on and all night i was "thinking about such things!"

That was fast, glad you got a car so nice that you can enjoy, and your son now has a free car. He deserves a break in life after having served his country. My mother once bought me a new car, my sister and brother-in-law were so jealous, but I helped my mother for years and all those years they never came around to help out.

well, it's not actually free.....he's gonna have to pay us for it, but only $5000. and he can pay us over the next couple years...but in every other way, it's cheaper for him then going and getting another car....so ya we have given him a break... and a Jazz of a Jazzy weekend!

Good morning, today is a cooking day for me. I am going to make a large pot of soup and I will freeze most of the soup. I looked up the word cellulose an additive that is being added to food like cheese and dog food and other food products. It is powdered wood pulp. I am going to go back and read more about it, I just glanced at some of the articles. I love that scripture to think on things that are lovely, that gives hope and comfort. ttyl

it's been a nice quiet weekend thus far....yesterday Jazzy and I went to her Hapkido classes, then hung out here for a bit, did the change over from the gray HHR to the white HHR, she helped me last time also, this is the 3rd HHR I've had....we decided to call her Daddy's car *the gray* and granny's *the white* If you followed the Lord of the Rings books or movies, Gandalf is the wizard, he went from Grandalf the gray to the wiser, Grandalf the white....lol.... then we went over to our Netty's and went to the dog beach with the 3 furkids. then back to Netty's so Jazzy could have a bath in her Jacuzzi tub, and dinner! didn't get home till after 9 am! Jazzy and I are ready for church waiting on the guys.....lol....it's always that way in this house! our room-mates have been gone all this weekend...so it's been really peaceful here....it's a long story...I'll sit and write it out soon...gotta get my feelings and thoughts in check first...I go from patient to angry, to the Lords word, then patient again...

(((Lulu))), so sorry to hear of your troubles. Sounds like you've had a nice weekend at least, so that is good. It's been a really rough week. We've had some major church issues that have been simmering, but came to the boiling point over the past seven days, so my mind has pretty much been on that all week long. If you think of it and would say an extra prayer for our church, it would be much appreciated. Yesterday I went upstate for a concert with the SC Baptist ladies choir I sing with. A friend in the choir rode with me. Well, we got lost coming home and I mean it was pitch black, country back-roads SCARY!! Thankfully I did have a GPS (which wasn't turned on to begin with because I had written directions for the way home, but we must've missed a road). I also tried my cell phone GPS and it never would connect. So we followed what the car GPS said to do, but still there was no sign of civilization. Thankfully, we eventually got to the interstate and it put us back on about 10 miles below where we'd gotten off earlier in the day, so we had been headed in the right direction, just in a roundabout way. When we got back into town there seemed to be police everywhere on the interstate. After arriving home I got on Facebook and off to the side in the "trending news" column, saw that there was an "active shooter" at the mall near our house. Then I realized that Timothy was at his new night job -- which is at a restaurant very near that mall. I started texting him to be sure he was safe but of course he couldn't reply. So I called the restaurant and was told the police were in there, shutting them down. The girl said they'd be leaving soon as the last customer left, but that Timothy was there (along with the police), and he was safe. Whew! He called me later that night and said the entire area surrounding the mall was covered over with police cars. Even though the shooters turned out to be two acquaintances involved in a personal fight, and nobody was hurt, I suppose these days they can't afford to take chances and so they had called in law enforcement from all over the area. This world sure has gone crazy. Bruce and I were talking about it some yesterday too. We always wind up saying the same thing though, that there's no place left to go anymore to be safe and away from the craziness. The west is all settled and there's no more frontiers left, except in a few remote places in Alaska, and even those aren't remote enough anymore since camera crews are there filming those people who are living there! Then Bruce will mention Canada, but the places there that are remote are no better then Alaska and not something either of us can do at our age. Makes me wish though that either we were younger and could take the kids and go find some remote corner where no government could find us and interfere with our lives or that someone else who lived in a place like that would adopt us all LOL. Even better then that though would be if Jesus came for us.

Another Sunday School classmate died. She had been in assisted living for years with many major health issues. No word yet on funeral plans.
Cleaning house to get rid of dust. It's never ending.

Stay warm you all! How is the weather where you are? Nice weather here. So many tornadoes last Tuesday 30 tornadoes in the Gulf states, and today blizzard like conditions in the Midwest and the latest tornadoes hit in the state of Virginia.

Hi everyone. I'm feeling really sick today, and I'm really sick and tired of feeling like this. The doctor said that I have cystitis or more and need to see a urologist, so today I've called and my hospital is calling the hospital the urologist works out of to see if they'll cover me so it'll only cost me and arm and not both legs too. Of course there's a problem, somehow my coverage lapsed, so I can't go right away. It's going to take at least a week before this can all be taken care of, although since nothing has changed, I'm guaranteed to be covered for another 6 months. So that much is good. It's just more red tape is all. The bad part is that I'm not up to dealing with it, but again, I'll have to because there's no other choice. The other bad news is that they don't know what causes cystitis and it's difficult to cure. So what else is new. Seems like the story of my life.
On top of that good news, I found out that workers comp denied my docs request for the bed wedges to help me sleep upright. After they turned down the bed, I found some wedges that I posted about in that other thread, which look a lot like what I made and they only cost a couple hundred dollars so I was sure they'd go for that, but no....they won't budge. They again say it's not medically necessary, and yet one part of what the one I made consists of is a wedge they bought for me before! So again, it makes no sense whatsoever, except that they will do anything to get out of helping a patient that has their insurance. I've forgiven many people over the years for things done and said to me, including things most would say they could never forgive, and have prayed for their salvation wholeheartedly so they won't have to face judgment. And for this, I will still pray for their salvation, because those who are truly saved will then do what's right. But I'm looking forward to that day when all the unsaved who own or work for Liberty Mutual have to stand before the Lord and face Him, me, and all the patients whose lives they've made miserable; who they were obligated to help and yet denied that help, and face His judgement.

Leigh that is good that you have a car GPS device to help you navigate the roads. It sure is harder to drive at night especially down dark dirt back roads. I know RV'ers use GPS and it helps them. I don't have a GPS device. The UPS delivery man uses GPS. He said that the GPS he has in his truck tells him in what order to deliver packages and he has to follow that order. That is why sometimes he passes up our home twice before he returns and delivers a package to us. He also said that the GPS tells him which road to take back to town when he has finished delivering all the packages. He said he would prefer to take a different road back to town because the GPS does not know that it is dark outside when he travels over a certain mountain with a steep drop off and that cows are always in the highway on that mountain and the speed limit is 25 mph. If he could choose himself he would take the other road that does not have that problem for him to deal with. Well I am off to finish doing my laundry.

Have you heard about the increase of carbon monoxide gas being emitted from the ground all along the west coast due to an increase in underground volcano activity heating up the earth and gasses settling on the surface of the earth. I just wondered if the news there on the west coast is saying anything about it.

No, I haven't heard anything about that, but then haven't watched the news lately either.
We don't use those GPS things. We've seen and heard of way too many people being badly mislead due to them.
I was glad to see you'd posted though as I was getting tired of posting to myself, that's why I just waited till someone else had posted here. My eyes were hurting really badly yesterday. I learned something new about them too. When Bruce came home from work, I was sitting in the recliner with my glasses off and my eyes closed, to rest them, hoping they'd feel a bit better afterward. Well, I opened them in time to see him literally do a double take when he looked at me. He was shocked and said my eyes looked like someone had punched me hard in both of them. they were both swollen and black and blue. If I didn't know him better, I'd have thought he was exaggerating. So I got up to look in the mirror, and sure enough, they were just as he described. I knew that when they hurt that there was a lot of red in my eyes, but hadn't ever noticed the outside part of my eyes being affected...but then I never looked and you can't really see it with my glasses on. Now I want to find out if they normally look like that when they hurt, and if the one extra eye drop I use during those times makes it look worse or better. The reason I'm so curious is because the eye drops are for inflammation and when I use them they cause me even more pain. The pain's really intense for about 5 to 10 seconds after using the drops, and then it drops back down to the horrible pain it was before using them. I know my doc said it would hurt, so I hadn't questioned it before, but now I'm wondering if maybe I'm having a reaction to those drops and maybe when he said they'd hurt, maybe he didn't mean they'd hurt THAT much! We'll see... (no pun intended lol)

Pretty day here, but windy. Took a friend to her doctor's appointment because her car wouldn't start. Not much going on.

Oh my Cindy -- that sounds SO very serious about your eyes! Are you planning to call your doctor and ask about that reaction? That does not sound normal at all. I am so sorry about how they look (black & blue) also, and wonder if the drops are causing that? What drops are you using?
Well about the GPS, yes I have definitely been misdirected before (although not often), but still I depend on it, now that I have it. It's one of those things that I never wanted, but once I had it and used it, wonder how I ever survived without it. (Because I am so directionally-challenged.) If nothing else, it is nice to just have it on for the roadmap and to see what streets are coming up. If I'm taking a long trip I will usually look it up beforehand on Mapquest and print out the directions so I have that as back-up (and Mapquest has misdirected me too).
Glad to catch up with you ladies. Sorry for not posting much recently. I'll be honest, these last couple of weeks have been difficult -- we are going through a church split and it is very emotional. We've been active members of this close-knit, loving church since we moved here 13 years ago and it is heart-wrenching to be involved in this turmoil. I have a fever blister (which I never get) and think it's from the stress.
Well, who knows what tomorrow, March 2nd is? It's "Read Across America" day and I'm going with a couple of ladies to the elementary school (where we do the Tuesday afternoon tutoring) to read Dr. Seuss books to some of the classes. I get to read "The Cat in the Hat", which I haven't read aloud in many years but used to read on a regular basis to the boys. That ought to be fun & just like old times!
Anna, hope your stove-top yogurt turned out well! I've made it in the crock-pot, but never on the stove.
Margie, it's nice that you were available to take your friend to the doctor today.
Anna & Lulu, I haven't heard about the increase in CO2 recently... but it sure sounds scary!! Too many disturbing things in the news these days!
Cindy, did you see the link to the bed wedges that Barb found (on your thread about it)? Do you think any of those might work for you? It is SUCH a shame that you were denied the wedges also. Did you hear back about coverage to see the urologist? Boy it is always something, isn't it? John is trying to get his Humira treatments set up and it practically takes an act of Congress, there's so much red tape.
Well, I'm four days behind my Precept homework, so better go try and get a little of that done before falling asleep.

it's been a long week and it's only tuseday! 10 hours a day makes for a long week before it even starts! also, only one day off doesn't help.... Cindy, pray your feeling better soon! I haven't heard anything about that carbon monoxide build up out here????
