“It is the Sovereign LORD who helps me. Who is he that will condemn me? They will all wear out like a garment; the moths will eat them up.” (Isaiah 50:9)
Here's our new chat thread!
Well I gearing up going back to school district job in few weeks my mom and I went to my office set my office up I didn't had force her she like it she go along with me remind me of her bank job yeah my computer set up already I just put my office supplies and other stuff in office then we went to 1950 diner after that score some lunch we bought home take out for the dad I spent majority of day with the parents after that cool thing is my office is AC we cool while we working set up the office The pipes look good also paint job really nice job did to part of this building remember they have plumbing problem well it all fix ready for El Nino winter in SO CAL LOL! Gee Kelly, it seems like you just got off for the summer and now you're going back already! Time sure is going faster, at least to me... That's good that your parents got their plumbing problem fixed. I'd love to get ours fixed....someday, hopefully! (the pipes under the kitchen sink leak)
Hi
Yes it is nice being outside....great to do it around family.....
I recall when the fires were really bad in 2018 here in Oz , the best way to have clean-ish air in our house was to run our evaporative cooler on the roof - it has this water "curtain" that the air has to be sucked through before it enters the house , so it sort of filters the smoke out of the air a bit before it gets into the house - its got to better than breathing the air as is.
Cindy I think that some of best advice I could give someone young is :
(1) get saved
(2) most of the troubles you will have in life are caused by sin - yours or other peoples, and of course demons. Once you understand that, stuff makes sense.
Also, and Christians forget this - we have a Biblical right in Gods word to trample on scorpions and serpents ( spiritually speaking ) and can bind demons to stop them causing trouble. I have no idea how high up the demonic "command structure " this works as I apply this, and its made a difference. I've been implementing it and copped a belting by demoincally driven events, but you just dont let up - it means its working :16 He who hears you hears Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.”
17 Then the [e]seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”
18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but [f]rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
( Luke 10:16-19 )
and
18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
( Matthew 18:18-20 )So we have SO MUCH given and pre-authorized authority in Christ Jesus, and we can stand upon Gods promises in the Word.
Cindy I recall you commanding a demonically infested young man to leave, and an angel threw him against a wall......such is our authority in Christ. I'm not suggesting by the way we expect people to be physically picked up and dealt with by angels normally, but here is the thing :
God has given many promises in His word, and it perfectly reasonable to humbly remind God of these promises, as we have this Biblical authority in Gods eyes, as His word says so.
I think so many Christians dont exercise this . I also start my day reading the Word out loud and its made a huge difference. I also pray the Word over my family and work, and bless those who hate us.
The Word is a peaceful spiritual weapon to be deployed as needed. We are spiritual warriors, we have massive authority in Christ - but the devil wants to make us cringe and feel small, becuase he KNOWS we have this authority.
3 Of course we are human, but we don’t fight like humans.
4 The weapons we use in our fight are not made by humans. Rather, they are powerful weapons from God. With them we destroy people’s defenses, that is, their arguments
5 and all their intellectual arrogance that oppose the knowledge of God. We take every thought captive so that it is obedient to Christ. ( 2 Cor 10:3-5 )
God has given us it for our use and so we can be a potent peaceful spiritual army for His purposes. Yes, I remember the time that happened Steve. I didn't have any idea what would happen when I said that. I mean I didn't know how God would make that guy leave, but I knew absolutely that He would do it. I knew we were safe and had nothing to fear because I knew I was God's child. At that time I also knew that I didn't have to do anything except trust the Lord to handle the problem for us. I knew He would fight for me. When that guy was picked up bodily and thrown out, I was just as shocked as everyone else was! Somehow though, I knew that the Lord chose to do it that way in order to show my cousin in a way he'd never forget, that God would protect him and that he could count on the Lord to have his back.
Looking back on it now as an adult, I also realize that I can now learn something else from that incident. I can learn what Jesus meant when He tells us that we need to become like little children. It's all about having complete trust in our Father.
When I moved to the southwest I noticed people had evaporative coolers on their homes, having never seen that before I had to ask what they were, now I don't see them anymore on homes, we call them swamp coolers.
My potted plants are dying, probably from the heat, I will do a cleaning of the area and starts plants again in a few weeks.
Waiting to see if I will have to soon pay more for electricity, every utility is facing supply chain issues, suppliers are facing higher costs and limited materials needed for the manufacturing process. I remember the first time I saw a swamp cooler. I was at my cousins house. She had a two year old boy, and I had a two year old girl and a one year old boy. They were playing. Then my cousins boy ran out of our sight, and stuck his hand inside the swamp cooler! We called 911, and they managed to save his hand, but oh boy were we all scared! I don't remember why they had one down so low then, but I remember they threw it out that very same day!
We've been paying more for electricity since the new year started. A LOT more! I sure hope yours won't go up so much!

If California's going to fall in the ocean from all your rain, then New England will have to do that too! Right now the first day we'll have without a thunderstorm or lots of rain, is about August 5th! This is crazy! But Jesus did say it would be like the days of Noah!
Cindy, whenever you have time would you comment on the scripture, 18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. I'll be happy to do so! I love talking about the Bible!
“Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. (Matthew 18:18) The above translation is by the Legacy Standard Bible which is a new one that has translated the Bible word for word according to the original language. I like to use it now whenever there's a question about a verse. However, many of the translations use the past tense as well. I'm not sure why they didn't use it at first. For example, here's 4 that show in different ways that they are declaring something that God has already declared. YLT 1862 ‘Verily I say to you, Whatever things ye may bind upon the earth shall be having been bound in the heavens, and whatever things ye may loose on the earth shall be having been loosed in the heavens. NASB 95 Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. HCSB 2009 I assure you: Whatever you bind on earth is already bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth is already loosed in heaven. AMP 87 Truly I tell you, whatever you forbid and declare to be improper and unlawful on earth must be what is already forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit and declare proper and lawful on earth must be what is already permitted in heaven.
First let's look at the verse in context. Before this verse Jesus is speaking about church discipline, or another way of saying it would be He's speaking about what to do when someone in the church (body of believers) sins. Keep in mind too that speaking of context, when we speak about what Jesus was talking about before verse 18, it's a good idea to go back to at least verse 10 to determine context. In verses 10 to 14, Jesus tells us how very important every single individual is to Him. He's not willing to lose a single one for any reason. Then in next part, Jesus talks about what to do when someone sins against you. We know His goal in this teaching is reconciliation. This is even true of verse 17 which says: “If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.” (Matthew 18:17) He's saying to excommunicate the person from the church so they won't lead others into sin, and so they will be seen for what they are, someone who is not yet saved and needs the people to tell them the gospel so they can be saved. So then we come to the verse in question. By the way, we also need to note that Jesus is saying all of this to His disciples, not to a crowd of people, which is one way we know this is for the church.
“Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. (Matthew 18:18) Here Jesus is giving all believers the authority to declare what was bound or loosed in heaven. This goes along with the Lord's promise in John: “If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”” (John 20:23) These scriptures don't give us the authority or ability to decide for ourselves what God is going to do, who He is going to forgive and who He isn't. That would be crazy and would go against the clear teaching of scripture because we're told over and over only God knows a person's heart and we can't know it. So what this is saying then is that we have the authority to tell someone that if they repent of their sin(s) that God will forgive them. We can say that because that's what God's Word says. We can also tell someone who hasn't been willing to really repent of their sins that they have not been forgiven and are not yet saved. That's what was being said in the previous verse when Jesus said that if someone hadn't repented to treat them as a pagan. So this verse gives us the authority to declare God's judgment based on what His Word teaches us. Obviously, this is speaking to someone who is mature in their faith and knows God's Word well because otherwise they wouldn't know what it says.
Jesus said this earlier in a slightly different way here: “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19) So after giving Peter the authority, He then gave all the disciples and all Christians the authority.
I hope this helps! Thanks for asking!

One thing Ive never been 100% sure of is whether the promises of God are for just the saved, or the unsaved as well? So God says He will answer those who cry out for help and you hear stories of some who've come to Christ by God protecting them in the middle of a battle, so it git me wondering...
Does anyone have thoughts on that please?

I think the promises of God are for the unsaved if they, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

Does anyone have thoughts on that please? One thing I can say real quick is that the Lord knows who belongs to Him, and therefore, as far as He is concerned, they're already saved, even if they haven't even heard the gospel yet. He knows they will and that they'll be saved. Plus, keep in mind there's no such thing as time for God. He created time for us because He knew we'd need it. So even though we see them as unsaved, to God they're already saved and He therefore will listen to them. Isn't He just incredible!
Did you see my answer to you Marlene?

I did not understand about that scripture Cindy until I prayed about it, then for the first time I understood the beauty of what it means to me. What you wrote Cindy about that the Lord knows who belongs to him reminded me of what I heard about a homeless boy in India when he was dying he said that the God he was going to believe in was the one that made the beauty in nature that he saw.

It's wonderful how the Lord teaches us what His Word means when we ask Him! I've been seeing that a lot lately with other people. Those who are saved learn and know His Word and most of the time will agree with others who are saved and learning from Him. Then you have people who aren't saved but have read the Bible. They come out with some of the strangest things and really believe the Bible teaches what they say. But I also hear them say that the Bible is almost impossible to understand and they think that everyone "interprets it differently". When I hear that, I have to tell them of my experience. Here's the short version: I had nothing but my Bible and the Lord and I constantly talked to Him about what I was reading and He would teach me as I went along. Many years later, I got the Logos Bible Study Library with 154 different commentaries covering the entire Bible and about 1,500 theology books. I loved it and still do! What was amazing though was as I checked to see what the commentaries said about verses, they invariably said the same thing that the Lord had already taught me! Admittedly, I was shocked at first, but after a short time, I simply had to laugh each time the Lord showed me again that what He'd taught others, He had also taught me! Our God is an incredible God who loves to teach His children what He wants them to learn from His Word, if only they will ask Him!
Sadly, most people today don't read the Bible and a large percentage of the few who do, get the meaning from some human teacher instead of God and don't bother to run it by the Lord to see if it's right.
Steve, I'd like to add to what I wrote in answer to your question: Yesterday, I said:
Another thing that's important concerning God's promises, is to read them in context. For example, the promises made to Israel, are for Israel, not for us. A good example of how these are misinterpreted is Jeremiah 29:11. Most folks just love that verse and truly believe it's for them, but it's really not. I posed about it here. That verse is thankfully not one that will cause to many problems when it's misapplied, but others do. Another similar one that's wrongly applied is 2 Chronicles 7:14, yet when it's read in context, it becomes very clear that God is clearly speaking to Israel during the time of the first temple. If we go back to the 7th chapter we see why this isn't about any other country or person: ('ll just post two verses) “Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.” (2 Chronicles 7:15–16). Yes, it's always good for all Christians to humble themselves, repent of their sins and pray, but God has not promised He will heal our land if we do so. That was only for Israel. Unfortunately, many of the promises He made to Israel have been hijacked by others. So again, we must read all promises in context to know who they actually apply to.
As strange as it may sound, God has in fact made promises to the unsaved. Once I point out a few, you'll be able to find the rest on your own.
“The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 13:41–42)
“For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 25:29–30)
“The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:19–21) ““So I will come near to you for judgment. I will be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers and perjurers, against those who defraud laborers of their wages, who oppress the widows and the fatherless, and deprive aliens of justice, but do not fear me,” says the LORD Almighty.” (Malachi 3:5) “But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”” (Revelation 21:8) “The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.” (Proverbs 14:6)
“If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15)
That's more than enough! Sorry, I got carried away! However there's another type of promise that God makes to some of the unbelievers: “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”” (Romans 10:9–11) I'm sure you can find others that are similar.
As I said before though, God knows who belongs to Him and He is not bound by time as we are. Let me share something one of my commentaries says that I found very enlightening: Our salvation involves all three Persons in the Godhead (Eph. 1:3–14; 1 Peter 1:2). You cannot be saved apart from the Father’s electing grace, the Son’s loving sacrifice, and the Spirit’s ministry of conviction and regeneration. ... This trinitarian aspect of our salvation helps us to understand better some of the mysteries of our salvation. As far as the Father is concerned, I was saved when He chose me in Christ before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4); but I knew nothing about that the night I was saved! It was a hidden part of God’s wonderful eternal plan.
As far as God the Son is concerned, I was saved when He died for me on the cross. He died for the sins of the whole world, yet the whole world is not saved. This is where the Spirit comes in: as far as the Spirit is concerned, I was saved in May 1945 at a Youth for Christ rally where I heard Billy Graham (then a young evangelist) preach the Gospel. It was then that the Holy Spirit applied the Word to my heart, I believed, and God saved me. Wiersbe, Warren W. The Bible exposition commentary. I can look back all the way to when I was just a baby, right up to adulthood, and see how the Lord kept me safe and how He prepared me for my salvation. So do God's promises belong to the unsaved as well as the saved? Yes and no.... First, it depends on the promise, Second, it depends on the context, and third, it depends on whether or not that person will eventually be saved, or is the only promises that belong to them as unsaved are ones they'd probably rather not hear. That was fun, and I'd love to talk about it some more, but my cats insist on eating!

It seems like it is time for change in the cities, maybe 15 minute cities would be a positive outcome. I was listening today to a man that visited a 15 minute city in Europe and he will put together a video, hope I can view the video as it will be on rumble and the last few days the videos would not play. I think the only 15 minute city in US is Portland.

I never heard of the "15 minute city" until reading what you both have just said here. I was curious, so I looked it up. I was shocked at what I found right away. I've constantly wondered what the various governments had to gain by all that happened due to covid. We saw a number of things covid caused, including that the government could force people to give up their jobs, and in many cases, give up their businesses. And of course it set up the WHO to possibly force the US to obey them instead of their own government. But I always felt I was missing something. I've said for the last year of so that governments were trying to get rid of the middle class and covid helped them toward that end, but I didn't think it was planned to do so. Now I'm pretty sure it was planned that way, partly due to the fact that I just saw that's one thing that the 15 minute cities will also do! Let me share an excerpt of what I read with you guys: Plans to convert neighborhoods into 15-minute cities can lead to gentrification. (Gentrification - the process whereby the character of a poor urban area is changed by wealthier people moving in, improving housing, and attracting new businesses, typically displacing current inhabitants in the process.) This means that poorer residents can be forced into less walkable areas of the city. www.novatr.com/blog/fifteen-minute-city
Here, we use Lyme disease (LD) as a case study to highlight the effects of gentrification as a socioecological process with potentially serious public health implications. The emergence and increasing incidence of TBDs in the US result from ecological factors that support the establishment, persistence, and growth of tick populations, and the maintenance and transmission of pathogens vectored by ticks. esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/fee.2549
Then when I looked up gentrification, I was shocked to find that there's tons of information about it. Most of it recent and talking about how to do it, or why it's being done, as well as the health effects and the economic effects of it.
