Al-Shifa Hospital is "besieged" by Israeli forces, Gaza Civil Defense official says From CNN's Ibrahim Dahman, Sahar Akbarzai and Celine Alkhaldi Al-Shifa Hospital is surrounded by Israeli forces, Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal told CNN on Tuesday. "Now Al-Shifa Hospital is besieged, and no one can reach the area," Basal said, explaining that rescue workers were unable to reach the victims in the area. He also accused the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) of also targeting homes near the hospital. CNN has reached out to the IDF for comment on its ongoing operations at the hospital and in the surrounding neighborhood.
