Woman did it she was holding a child I think so HOUSTON -- A suspect is dead after a child was among two people shot at a Texas megachurch on Sunday, officials said during an afternoon press conference. A heavy police presence could be seen surrounding Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church in southwest Houston on Sunday afternoon. The Harris County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to an active shooting at the megachurch near the Southwest Freeway shortly after 2 p.m. The 2 p.m. Spanish-speaking service was about to begin when chaos erupted. A witness told our sister station, ABC13 Eyewitness News in Houston, that she heard several shots being fired while in the choir room. "The whole church started praying and declaring Jesus' name," she said. It is a good thing that church has well trained hired security, I saw a video once where it looked like security person had to escort people out of the church frequently. One video said the average attendance was 45,000 people, what? I don't know how could that be, is there that many people in that area that need what is offered there, and are there that many seats in that building.
update I googled how many seats are in Osteen's church, capacity is 16,800. It is among the largest congregations in the United States, averaging about 45,000 attendees per week.
