Hamas outlines ceasefire proposal
Hamas has put forward its own detailed plan for a ceasefire and hostage release with Israel.
The proposal seeks a four-and-a-half-month pause in fighting, during which all hostages would be released and Israel would withdraw its troops from Gaza.
It will be discussed when US Secretary of State Antony Blinken meets with Israeli leaders on Wednesday.
However, the proposal would effectively leave the Palestinian militant group in power, a scenario Israel opposes.
In the first of three 45-day phases, Hamas would release all remaining women and children, as well as older and sick men, in exchange for an unspecified number of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
Israel would also withdraw from populated areas, cease aerial operations, allow far more aid to enter and permit Palestin
