Yeah 6.8 is nothing shug off I am veternan of earthquakes too that is big one A magnitude 6.8 earthquake has hit Morocco killing at least 1,037 people, injuring more than 1,200, damaging ancient buildings, and sending terrified residents fleeing their homes into the streets for safety. Morocco’s state television reported the death toll on Saturday, citing the Ministry of Interior. Of those injured, 205 were in a critical condition. Montasir Itri, a resident of the mountain village of Asni near the epicentre, said most houses there were damaged. “Our neighbours are under the rubble and people are working hard to rescue them using available means in the village,” he said. Residents of Marrakesh, the nearest big city to the epicentre, said some buildings collapsed in the old city, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Local television showed images of a fallen mosque minaret with rubble lying on smashed cars. The Interior Ministry urged calm saying in a televised statement the quake hit the provinces of Al Haouz, Ouarzazate, Marrakesh, Azilal, Chichaoua and Taroudant. The temblor hit shortly after 11pm local time (22:00 GMT) on Friday evening, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/9/8/powerful-6-8-magnitude-earthquake-rattles-morocco

This is update they have aftershock just now A magnitude 3.9 aftershock rattles Morocco as rescuers seek survivors in ancient cities and towns A magnitude 3.9 aftershock rattled Moroccans on Sunday as they prayed for victims of the nation’s strongest earthquake in more than a century. More than 2,000 people are dead - a number that is expected to rise. The United Nations estimated that 300,000 people were affected by Friday night's magnitude 6.8 quake and some Moroccans complained on social networks that the government wasn’t allowing more help from outside. International aid crews were prepared to deploy but remained in limbo waiting for the Moroccan government to request their assistance. “We know there is a great urgency to save people and dig under the remains of buildings,” said Arnaud Fraisse, founder of Rescuers Without Borders, who had a team stuck in Paris waiting for the green light. “There are people dying under the rubble, and we cannot do anything to save them.” www.euronews.com/2023/09/10/moroccans-mourn-after-earthquake-kills-more-than-2000-people-and-destroys-mountain-homes

Well foreign emergency workers are coming in NOWWW! Morocco quake: Foreign rescuers join race to find survivors Foreign rescuers join race to find survivors in hard-hit areas Rescue teams from Spain, Britain and Qatar have begun supporting Moroccan rescuers in areas affected by Friday's powerful earthquake, the Moroccan news agency MAP reported. Britain sent 60 search and rescue experts, along with equipment and four search dogs to support the Moroccan-led operations, British Ambassador Simon Martin said in a post published early Monday on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter. A special Spanish military unit with 56 soldiers and four search dogs also arrived in Morocco. They have been assigned to the Talat N'Yaaqoub area, 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) from the epicenter, the Spanish Defense Ministry said on X. www.dw.com/en/morocco-earthquake-foreign-rescuers-join-race-to-find-survivors/live-66775085
