Obama to speak to Jewish leaders in first post-Iran deal meeting
By JTA August 4, 2015
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will meet with Jewish leaders for the first time since world powers reached a deal with Iran on its nuclear program.
Leaders from an array of Jewish groups will visit the White House on Tuesday afternoon, according to representatives for some of the groups. The meeting will include groups that support and reject the deal, as well as some that have yet to decide.
“On Tuesday the President will meet with organization and community leaders from the American Jewish community to discuss the Iran nuclear deal,” the White House said in a statement. “This meeting follows similar meetings the President held with Jewish community leaders in April as well as numerous engagements that senior administration officials have held with Jewish community organizations and other community stakeholders.”
Jewish Insider first reported the meeting.
Obama will be speaking with the Jewish leaders just after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addresses American Jews through a webcast convened by the Jewish Federations of North America and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

US 'Disinformation' Falsely Claims Top Israelis Back Iran Deal
By Hillel Fendel 8/4/2015
A report by CAMERA maps out how a top newspaper and a top State Department official helped disseminate the false "information" that top Israeli intelligence officials believe the nuclear deal with Iran is "good."
It began with a blog in the Washington Post on July 22, entitled, "How the Iran deal is good for Israel according to Israelis who know what they're talking about."
The next day, Marie Harf – former State Department spokesperson and now a senior adviser to Secretary of State John Kerry (whose place in history is all but dependent on the passage of this deal by Congress) – tweeted the story and its link to her 40,000 followers.
Thus, the world was "informed" that Israelis "who know what they're talking about" favor the very deal with Iran that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu so opposes.
CAMERA's media analyst Gilead Ini investigated one step further, and found this: The story "exaggerated and even fabricated Israeli praise for the Iran deal," and that "both the administration and the newspaper owe readers a correction."

In Obama's Washington it is now open season on Israel and its supporters
By Caroline B. Glick August 5, 2015
It was obvious the fight over President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran would get very ugly, very quickly. And so it has.
It was obvious that it would be ugly because the fight over Obama’s appeasement policy toward Iran has been going on since he took office six-and-a-half years ago. And it has always been ugly.
Every time Obama has sided with the mullahs against domestic opponents he has played the Jew card in one way or another. He has blown more anti-Semitic dog whistles than many in Washington even realized existed.
Now the stakes are far higher than a mere sanctions bill. Obama has gotten his deal with Iran. And he’ll be damned if he allows it to go down.
So it is open season on Israel and its supporters.
Secretary of State John Kerry made this clear two weeks ago when he said it will be Israel’s fault if the deal goes down. Since the administration threatens that torpedoing the deal will cause war, Kerry is threatening that the administration will blame Israel if war breaks out.
As for Obama, in his conference call with leftist supporters last Thursday, he attacked AIPAC and the other Jewish organizations for daring to lobby Congress to vote against removing US sanctions from Iran and conflated their opposition to the deal with Jewish Republicans’ support for the invasion of Iraq.
In the president’s words, opposition to his deal comes “partly from the $20 million that’s being spent lobbying against the bill,” and “partly from the same columnists and former administration officials that were responsible for getting us into the Iraq war.”

A nation that dwells alone
By Marissa Newman August 6, 2015
US President Barack Obama’s pitch for the Iran deal — in which he singled out Israel as the sole objector, and said the Israeli prime minister was “sincere” but “wrong” — proves a bitter pill to swallow for the Israeli papers on Thursday. The hour-long address prompts significant backlash from Israeli pundits, who solemnly note the president’s “historic” address as an unprecedented low in US-Israeli relations and accuse him of resorting to scare tactics and of alienating Israel further.
“The location choice for the speech President Barack Obama gave yesterday was not coincidental,” Yedioth Ahronoth reports. “The president chose to give one of the most important speeches in his presidency at the American University in Washington, the same place where President Kennedy gave his historic speech in favor of a ban on nuclear tests with the Soviet Union in 1963. Obama was seeking to convey that he, too, was making history, and that just as the critics of that deal were wrong, so too critic no. 1 of the current deal — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — is wrong.”
But pundits in the pro-Netanyahu Israel Hayom aren’t quite convinced that Obama is Kennedy material. “Obama is no Kennedy,” writes columnist Prof. Avraham Ben-Tzvi. “Khamenei is no Khrushchev,” writes Boaz Bismuth. Ben-Tzvi accuses Obama of “ridiculing his political rivals” while “threatening the American public by painting apocalyptic scenarios about what would happen if Congress overrides the presidential veto.”
Bismuth, meanwhile, slams Obama for singling out Netanyahu as the only open critic of the deal.
Obama “has misread the international map since he entered the White House,” Bismuth writes. “Need we remind the president that they [Obama and Netanyahu] were divided about the Muslim Brotherhood leadership in countries such as Egypt and Tunisia after the Arab Spring? And who was right then, Mr. President?”

Obama's Personal Attacks Aside, Netanyahu's Fears Are Very Real
By Eliran Aharon 8/6/2015
The much talked-about personal enmity between US President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was on full display yesterday, as Obama repeatedly criticized, and even mocked, the Israeli PM in his speech urging the American public to back the Iran nuclear deal.
But despite that hostility, personal issues are not the main driving force behind either's position on the contentious Iran deal.
Speaking to Arutz Sheva, leading Arab and Islamic world expert Professor Moshe Sharon said that contrary to recent comments by Obama and US Secretary of State John John Kerry, the threat Netanyahu perceives is a very real one.
"The question is the existence of the State of Israel, the security of the State of Israel, and there is no question that Iran is after the creation of an atom bomb... that can easily be achieved with the enrichment of uranium," said Professor Sharon, who served as former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin's adviser on Arab affairs.
Iran's long record of lying during negotiations and deceiving international inspectors bodes will not end with the signing of this agreement, he warned.
"There is no question that once an agreement is reached Iran will not keep it," he stated. "Even the agreement as it is - which in many ways favors Iran - will not be kept, and bit by bit the Iranians will change it, will do things that will not be seen very quickly to negate the agreement and abolish it."
With the signing of such a one-sided agreement "the Iranians are the masters, not the Americans or anyone else."
So why would the US, Europe and other world powers sign such a "bad deal" with Iran?
The answer, says Sharon, is simple: trade.

Israeli Officials Reject Obama Claim That Netanyahu is Meddling in US Affairs
The Algemeiner August 10, 2015
JNS.org – Israeli officials on Monday rejected a claim by U.S. President Barack Obama that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is intervening in American affairs with his opposition to the Iran nuclear deal.
In a CNN interview on Sunday, Obama was asked if Netanyahu has “injected himself forcefully” into Washington affairs, and he replied “right.” When asked whether this was appropriate, Obama said, “I’ll let you ask Prime Minister Netanyahu that question if he gives you an interview,” and that “I don’t recall a similar example” of a foreign leader meddling in U.S. affairs.
Israeli Foreign Ministry Director General Dore Gold told Army Radio that Israel is “looking at what the implications of the [nuclear] deal are,” and that Netanyahu has “a duty to warn the U.S. public and the world of the implications of the deal.”

Obama vs. The Jews “You'd think they'd be nicer to me on my birthday.”
Daniel Greenfield August 11, 2015
It was his birthday and Obama was grouchy.
“It’s my birthday and I’m going to be blunt,” Obama told the Jewish leaders meeting with him. When they complained that, “Words have consequences, and when they come from official sources, they can be even more dangerous,” he was unapologetic.
“If you guys would back down, I would back down from some of the things I’m doing,” he warned.
By that he meant that if they stopped objecting to the Iran deal, he would stop accusing critics of his nuclear sellout to Iran of being money-grubbing warmongers.
Obama complained, “It's been a really busy day. You'd think they'd be nicer to me on my birthday.” ...
Shortly after his meeting with Jewish leaders, he and his close Iranian-born adviser Valerie Jarrett skipped the line at Rose’s and got the party started. On the next day, Obama blasted Republican opponents as treasonous allies of those who chant “Death to America,” even though he was the one who had actually made common cause with Iran’s regime.
The day after that, Senator Schumer called Obama to tell him he would oppose the deal and asked him to let him announce it on Friday. The White House instead leaked it to the Huffington Post. The first response to Schumer’s announcement came from MoveOn, which blew the dog whistle loudly enough to be heard in the next state over, “Our country doesn’t need another Joe Lieberman in the Senate.”
The only obvious thing that both politicians had in common was that they were Jewish.
Obama had lost the argument on the facts. The majority of Americans opposed the deal by 52 to 28 percent. Even among Democrats, support stood at only 52 percent.
His game plan for winning the debate was to get as ugly and dirty as possible.

How Dare We Disagree with the American President?
Mr. Trump is not the only target.
Amy Barath August 13, 2015
Mr. Erick Erickson of Redstate is now minding our manners for us. In a supposed psuedo-paternal move, he has decided to silence Mr. Trump, who, after being asked a tabloid type question, was apparently rude in his reply, although many disagree with that view .
Boo-hoo-hoo.
Mr. Trump is not the only target. Straight out of the anti-Semitic handbook, Chuck Schumer is being accused of being, “a Jew.” He has the gall to disagree with President Obama’s let’s-help- Iran –wipe- Israel-off-the-map deal and has declared he will vote against approving the deal when it comes up for a vote in the Senate.
Senator Schumer is not towing the Democratic line; he dares to defy the Supreme leader of the United States—Recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize-- as well as the Ayatollah of Iran. There can only be one reason for this mutiny—Chuck Schumer is a Jew!
President Obama has even threatened to protect Iran if Israel bombs its nuclear facilities—huh?
John Kerry had better watch himself. He has been the ever obedient Kapo. In case you didn’t know, John Kerry is also “a Jew.” You can read all about Mr. Kohn here.

Dermer: Israel ‘not eager’ to go up against US on Iran deal but has no choice
By Times of Israel staff August 15, 2015
Israel’s ambassador to the United States said Saturday that Jerusalem was not in any way eager to go up against Washington on the contentious Iranian nuclear agreement reached last month, but felt it had no choice.
“There’s no question that this is the most important relationship in the world, and we are not eager in any way to have to be at odds on the most important policy priority of the president of the United States, that’s a big deal” Ron Dermer told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria.
“But… the survival of the state of Israel is also a big deal, and we believe that this deal threatens the survival of Israel,” Dermer said.
The Israeli envoy said that Israel has been arguing against the deal to US President Barack Obama for a long time and was now aiming to make its case with US congressmen and senators “who will ultimately decide the fate of this deal.”
“We are telling them that this is a bad deal that endangers Israel’s security,” Dermer said.
“When the president and the US Secretary of State John Kerry, when they say they believe this deal is better for America and better for Israel, I have no doubt they are being sincere. We just disagree with their judgement, we think that this deal will endanger Israel’s security,” he added.

Over 1,000 US Rabbis Pen Open Letter to Congress Opposing Iran Deal
By Ahuva Balofsky August 31, 2015
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.” (Psalms 23:4)
Over 1,000 American rabbis have signed a letter to Congress, urging US lawmakers not to accept the nuclear accord reached between the P5+1 powers and Iran earlier this summer. The petition, organized by the Zionist Organization of America, calls “upon our Senators and Representatives to consider the dangers that this agreement poses to the United States and our allies, and to vote in opposition to this deal.” ...
Citing Isaiah 2:4, the signatories express the hope that God will bring the world to an era in which “ ‘nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they engage in war anymore,’ when peace will prevail. Until then, we simply cannot afford to empower and enrich a regime that continues to lift its sword without mercy towards so many who stand for good, freedom and peace.”
Meanwhile, 340 other American rabbis, many of whom have ties to organizations known to be critical of Israel, sent their own letter to Congress, urging them to ratify the deal. The Jerusalem Post reported last week on that letter, which read, “we are deeply concerned with the impression that the leadership of the American Jewish community is united in opposition to the agreement.” The letter states, “We, along with many other Jewish leaders, fully support this historic nuclear accord.”
