Solar panels, windmills or electric cars cannot be built without mining more copper, lithium, iron and aluminium.
That means vastly more destructive scraping and digging of ocean floors, rainforests and tundras on a scale inconceivable to most environmentalists.
There is no energy transition without critical minerals:
no batteries, no electric cars, no wind turbines and no solar panels.
The sun provides raw energy,
but electricity flows through copper.
Wind turbines need manganese,
platinum and rare earth magnets.
Nuclear power requires uranium.
Electric vehicles require batteries made with lithium, cobalt and nickel and magnets.
Indium and tellurium are integral to solar panel manufacturing.
Every electric vehicle contains about 75 kilograms of copper
or three times more than a conventional vehicle.
A single wind turbine generally contains 500 kilograms of nickel.
That nickel requires 100 tonnes of steelmaking coal to be refined.
And every crystalline silicon solar panel contains 20 grams of silver paste.
It takes 80 metric tons of silver to generate approximately a gigawatt of solar power.
current copper reserves at 880 million tonnes are equal to approximately 30 years of production.

True..and further that is what the whole 15 minute cities is about also:

Notice...cars are the problem! so biking is the way to go....and just where does one put their groceries? Oh wait....no a problem if you are only eating bugs...they do not take up much space.
But we don't just need to buy food, there are many other items like clothes, furniture,etc....
but then, we are supposed to be poor. and like it...and it is not an option.
This is not the biblical idea of choosing to give to the poor, or not being caught up in materialism etc.
This is being forced, with having no say ( not unlike being a slave in the end).
But hey, at least you get a tag with your pronouns.
On the other hand if we can really really lower carbon to zero
it will not help the earth...it will kill every single plant and tree
and thus every living thing.
They are aiming for a dead planet.

Oh well I guess if they freeze to death a billion or several billion people,
and kill a billion or two more with death from the heat...
it will be considered, all to the good for the planet!

near as I can tell...
take abortions
and cutting off body parts on young children labeled trans?
It is more about the elite and environmentalism...I think
