Putin Threatens America with Nuclear Annihilation
Cliff Kincaid — July 27, 2015
The nation is fiercely debating the Iran nuclear deal and the significance of the Ayatollah’s “death to America” tweets when the real problem is Iran’s sponsor, Russia, and its lunatic ruler, Vladimir Putin. By controlling the media, killing off the opposition, and smearing Ukrainian freedom fighters as Nazis, the former KGB colonel has his country worked into a collective frenzy over a concocted Western threat. Some experts believe Russia is preparing for nuclear war on a global scale. If Putin carries out his threats, America is no more.
In this case, the U.S. is facing not only a nuclear weapons program, which is the case with Iran, but what our top generals are calling an “existential threat” to our survival as a nation.
As the National Institute for Public Policy documents in the report, “Foreign Nuclear Developments: A Gathering Storm,” Russia has a new military doctrine that anticipates using nuclear weapons, and the regime has embarked on “a massive strategic modernization program to deploy new nuclear weapons and delivery systems.”
Not only that, but Russia has a ballistic missile defense to use against us.
Geopolitical analyst Jeff Nyquist tells Accuracy in Media, “The Russians became angry and threatening when NATO tried to build a very modest missile defense system to stop an Iranian missile. Yet Russia has over 10,000 dual purpose SAM/ABMs for defense against our missiles and will be deploying a new ABM prototype next year.”
He adds, “Russia has potential war winning advantages over the U.S. and NATO—not necessarily in the number of nuclear weapons but in the number of its ABM batteries, and the upgrading of these batteries with a new generation of interceptor rockets while the American side makes no effort in this direction. The U.S. ABMs in Alaska and California would be lucky to stop 12 Russian warheads.”

‘Russia’s Maritime doctrine – counter-measure to NATO’s climbing escalation ladder’
27 Jul, 2015/ RTNews
The US is clearly escalating its aggression against Russia, but it’s Russia that is portrayed as the aggressor. This is nothing but an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ propaganda operation by the American government, says Brian Becker from the Answer coalition.
Russia has published a new maritime strategy laying out the future of the country's naval activities. The adoption of the new naval code focusing on Russia’s naval presence in Crimea and the Arctic has sparked a reaction in Western media worried it could be a show of aggression.
RT: Russia's boosting its position in the Atlantic - what kind of signal does that send to NATO?
Brian Becker: The Russian government’s announcement that it is upgrading its naval capability in the Atlantic Ocean, in the Atlantic theater, is a clear response to the announcement by the Pentagon and the new US military doctrine updated since 2011 which now identifies Russia as the leading threat to the US. This updated military doctrine - which I should say is an operational doctrine - coincides with large scale NATO - that is US-led - military maneuvers including a large numbers of warplanes, tanks, heavy artillery and naval vessels close by to Russia and its Western borders and its Western waters. So it’s a predictable response by the Russia government of what is obviously perceived, and is in fact, a real threat to Russia’s own national interests in the Russian area.
RT: The doctrine specifically mentions NATO's expansion as a reason to strengthen its positions. How justified are Russia's concerns?
BB: Yes, of course, it’s a counter measure by the Russian government and the Russian Navy in its Western area in the Atlantic Ocean as a consequence of the upgrade by the US of its recent military doctrine of Russia as its primary threat in the world…This upgrade, this new assessment, new military doctrine by the US coincides with large scale military exercises by NATO and US forces on Russia’s Western borders. Clearly this is a counter measure because the Russian government perceives that NATO has climbed the escalation ladder.

Putin names United States among threats in new Russian security strategy
By Vladimir Soldatkin Jan 2, 2016
A new appraisal names the United States as one of the threats to Russia's national security for the first time, a sign of how relations with the west have deteriorated in recent years.
The document, "About the Strategy of National Security of Russian Federation", was signed by President Vladimir Putin on New Year's Eve. It replaces a 2009 version, endorsed by then- President Dmitry Medvedev, the current prime minister, which mentioned neither the United States not NATO.
It says Russia has managed to heighten its role in solving global problems and international conflicts. That heightened role has caused a reaction by the West, it says.
"The strengthening of Russia happens against the background of new threats to the national security, which has complex and interrelated nature," the document says.
Conducting an independent policy, "both international and domestic" has caused "counteraction from the USA and its allies, which are striving to retain their dominance in global affairs."
That in turn is likely to lead to "political, economical, military and informational pressure" on Russia, the document says."
Relations between Russia and the West reached a low after Russian forces annexed the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine in March 2014, after protests in Ukraine forced its pro-Moscow president to flee to Russia.

NATO & European leaders whip up hysteria over ‘myth’ of nuclear threat from Russia – Lavrov
9 Feb, 2016 RTNews
The 28-member trans-Atlantic military block, along with a number of European countries, is intentionally hyping up the “myth” that Russia allegedly poses a so-called “threat” to Sweden and the Baltic states, Russia’s Foreign Minister said.
“The leaders of NATO member states and a number of European countries, especially Britain, the Nordic countries, the Baltic counties neighboring us, Poland, Romania and some others, are whipping up ‘Russia’s threat’ myth, as well as the idea that we are planning to use our nuclear weapons to intimidate Sweden and the Baltic countries,” Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with the Moskovsky Komsomolets daily.
“There is the impression that Russia is nearly the main stumbling block in international relations, because today the dominant media sources spread news from only the Western point of view,” he added.
Despite the aggressive stance of the western media, the overwhelming majority of the countries in the world still support Russia, Lavrov noted.
The interview came after NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg had claimed that, despite the harsh rhetoric, NATO is not trying to launch a Cold War with Russia.

I am old enough to remember the first Cold War. I remember asking my mom what would happen if the Russians bombed us while I was sleeping. She told me I'd wake up and be with Jesus. That was a comforting thought to me and I never asked anything about it again.
It is still a comforting thought now for the trying times that we live in, if we die here, we will wake up with Jesus.

The aggressive stance of the western media? What about the aggressive stance with Russia invading Ukraine?... Not to mention their alliance with that peace-loving Iran? I believe the 'overwhelming majority' has been easily deceived.

Pentagon chief seeks reforms, calls Russia ‘No. 1 strategic threat’
6 Apr, 2016 RTNews
Seeking to make the US military more efficient and better coordinated in the face of “strategic threat” from Russia, Secretary of Defense Ash Carter is seeking “practical updates” to the Pentagon’s organizational framework established in the 1970s.
Speaking at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC, Carter said the reforms were necessary to make the US military more “agile” and able to address the five strategic challenges, which he named as “Russia, China, North Korea, Iran and terrorism.” ...
The changes, proposed by the Pentagon’s Deputy Chief Management Officer Peter Levine and Joint Staff Lieutenant-General Thomas Waldhauser after a months-long review, seek to give the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) more authority to advise and coordinate between different services and commands, make the commands more efficient, and improve the acquisition process, among other things.
“Over the coming weeks, we will execute some of these decisions under our own existing authority,” said the Defense Secretary, adding that others may require legislative action.

Russia to boost military force if Sweden allies with NATO - senator
29 Apr, 2016 RTNews
Russia will reply to Sweden’s entry into NATO by increasing the numbers of its military forces, in particular on its northern and northwestern frontiers, the deputy head of the upper house Committee for Defense and Security says.
“We are talking not only about some technical measures, we are talking numbers as well. Russia will increase the strength of its military forces on the northern and northwestern borders if Sweden becomes a NATO member, this also includes the North Sea Fleet,” RIA Novosti quoted Senator Evgeny Serebrennikov as saying on Friday.

He added that Russia might reply to NATO expansion by deploying to its northern regions the newest missiles that NATO systems cannot intercept.
The comment came shortly after Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in a press interview that Russia would respond to Sweden’s decision to join NATO by military-technical steps.

Finnish NATO membership would lead to crisis with Russia: government report
Reuters
If Finland joined NATO it would lead to a serious crisis with neighboring Russia, a report commissioned by the Finnish government said on Friday.
Membership of the military alliance would strengthen Finland's security but trigger a harsh reaction from the Kremlin, affecting trade between the countries, according to the report prepared for Prime Minister Juha Sipila's center-right government.
Militarily-neutral Finland shares a 1,340 km-long border and difficult history with Russia, its former ruler.
The report gave no direct recommendation on whether Finland should seek membership, but said a joint Finnish-Swedish application would be a better strategic option than either Nordic country joining the alliance alone.
"This is a question of grand strategy," Finnish Prime Minister Sipila told reporters on Friday.
"Small nations do not often change their basic foreign policy guidelines," he said, adding that leeway was needed in case the security situation changed.
Only 22 percent of Finns support joining NATO, while 55 percent are opposed, a recent poll by public broadcaster YLE showed.
Finnish membership of NATO would double the length of the border between the alliance and Russia and increase the NATO presence in the Baltic Sea.
But without Sweden, Finland would be an isolated outpost which NATO would have difficulty defending, the report said.

Russia defends intercept of U.S. reconnaissance plane over Baltic
Apr 30, 2016
Russia said on Saturday it had sent a fighter plane on Friday to intercept a U.S. aircraft approaching its border over the Baltic Sea because the American plane had turned off its transponder, which is needed for identification.
The Pentagon said the U.S. Air Force RC-135 plane had been flying a routine route in international airspace and that the Russian SU-27 fighter had intercepted it in an "unsafe and unprofessional" way.
CNN reported that the Russian jet had come within about 100 feet (30 meters) of the U.S. plane and had performed a barrel roll.
"All flights of Russian planes are conducted in accordance with international regulations on the use of airspace," the Russian Defence Ministry said in a statement.
"The U.S. Air Force has two solutions: either not to fly near our borders or to turn the transponder on for identification."
Friday's incident underlines rising tensions between Russia and the United States over eastern Europe. NATO has said it plans its biggest build-up in the region since the Cold War to counter what the it considers to be a more aggressive Russia.

NATO to send 4,000 troops to border with Russia - report
30 Apr, 2016 RTNews
NATO is deploying an additional four battalions of 4,000 troops in Poland and the three Baltic States, according to a report citing US Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert Work.
Work confirmed the number of troops to be sent to the border with Russia, The Wall Street Journal reports. He said the reason for the deployment is Russia’s multiple snap military exercises near the Baltics States.
“The Russians have been doing a lot of snap exercises right up against the borders, with a lot of troops,” Work said. “From our perspective, we could argue this is extraordinarily provocative behavior.”
Ahead of the deployment, NATO officials are also discussing the possibility of making the battalions multinational, combining troops from different countries under the joint NATO command and control system.
Moscow has been unhappy with the NATO military buildup at Russia’s borders for some time now.
“NATO military infrastructure is inching closer and closer to Russia’s borders. But when Russia takes action to ensure its security, we are told that Russia is engaging in dangerous maneuvers near NATO borders. In fact, NATO borders are getting closer to Russia, not the opposite,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Sweden’s Dagens Nyheter daily.

US Missile Defense Site Opens in Romania, Russia Sees Threat
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESSMAY 12, 2016
DEVESELU, Romania — A U.S missile defense site in Romania aimed at protecting Europe from ballistic missile threats became operational Thursday, drawing an angry reaction from Russia, which opposes having the advanced military system in its former area of influence.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg tried to reassure Russia as he spoke at a ceremony attended by U.S., NATO and Romanian officials at the Soviet-built base, located in remote village 180 kilometers (110 miles) southwest of Bucharest. Romania became a NATO member in 2004.
The NATO missile defense site "in no way undermines or weakens Russia's strategic nuclear deterrent. This site in Romania, as well as the one in Poland, are not directed against Russia," Stoltenberg said at the opening ceremony. "The interceptors are too few, and located too far south or too close to Russia, to be able to intercept Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles."
Stoltenberg said the interceptors were designed "instead to tackle the potential threat posed by short and medium- range attacks from outside the Euro-Atlantic area."
U.S. officials say the Romanian missile shield, which cost $800 million, is intended to fend off missile threats from Iran and is not aimed at Russia.

British Typhoon fighter jets intercepted three Russian transport military aircraft, which were approaching the territory of the Baltic States, the UK Defense Ministry has claimed. Russia has repeatedly stressed its flights are in accordance with international norms.
The British fighter jets, took off from the Amari air base in Estonia, to intercept the planes identified by the UK military as an AN-26 Curl, an AN-12 Cub and an IL-76 Candid, the ministry said on Thursday.
The statement said that the alleged Russian planes were unresponsive and did not transmit the recognized identification code.

Putin: Russia will consider tackling NATO missile defense threat
13 May, 2016 RTNews
Russia is being forced to look for ways to neutralize threats to its national security due to deployment of the NATO anti-missile shield in Europe, Russian President Vladimir Putin said after the alliance launched a missile defense site in Romania.
“Now, after the deployment of those anti-missile system elements, we’ll be forced to think about neutralizing developing threats to Russia’s security,” Putin said.
The US missile shield in Europe is a clear violation of Russian-American arms treaties, Putin said at a meeting with Russian military officials, adding that the anti-missile facilities can be easily repurposed for firing short and midrange missiles.
The US anti-missile shield in Europe is yet another step in increasing international tensions and launching a new arms race, he stressed.
"We're not going to be dragged into this race. We’ll go our own way. We’ll work very accurately without exceeding the plans to finance the re-equipment of our Army and Navy, which have already been laid out for the next several years,” Putin said.
"Recent developments indicate that the situation isn’t getting better. Unfortunately, it’s deteriorating. I’m talking about the launch of the radar station in Romania as one of the elements of the up-and-coming US anti-missile defense program,” Putin said.
Russia is making every effort to maintain the strategic balance of power, in order to avoid the outbreak of large-scale conflicts, the president said.

‘Ludicrous to believe NATO missile defense in Eastern Europe not targeting Russia’
15 May, 2016 RTNews
Lode Vanoost: Well of course this is totally ludicrous. This is part of a long-standing policy of NATO and the US to isolate Russia ever since the end of the Cold War, the end of the first Cold War, I might now say. These weapon systems are developed, designed and conceptualized twenty years easily before they are even installed. This is part to a long-standing policy. To even claim that it has nothing to do with Russia is totally ludicrous. Of course, this is aimed against Russia’s security. The thing is I totally understand these protests. What this does indeed as making the security – these countries are becoming more dangerous as they will become targets in an eventual war. Just because these systems are there.
The thing is that since the end of the Cold War, one of the big fears of the US - the people that are empowered there - is that Europe might realign its priorities. The EU itself was made to end perpetual war within Europe. Now, if you are serious about peace between Eastern European countries and Russia, then you would develop economic relations with them. Now, this is precisely the opposite. And the reason why the US is so adamant in installing this is to keep Europe aligned with its Trans-Atlantic alliance against Russia. It is nothing else...

Have Obama And Putin Agreed To Destroy NATO?
Because it sure looks like it.
L. Todd Wood April 18, 2014
I have written previously about our Manchurian president, whose policies seem to be tailored to drastically alter the trajectory of this country in a negative way, reducing American power and influence around the world and destroying our way of life which made this country great. Now I fear our dear leader has his eye on another prize, the downfall of the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance that has held the peace in Europe, if not globally, for sixty years.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has been on record saying, “The breakup of the Soviet Union was the greatest geopolitical tragedy of the 20th century.” Now we see Russia , under Putin’s leadership, well on its way to reestablishing lost Soviet control of Russia’s border states. I have no doubt, if left unchecked under Putin’s direction, Russia will move to regain its dominance of Eastern Europe. Vladimir Putin would like nothing more than to destroy the alliance that won the Cold War against the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

Ex-general says NATO-Russia nuclear war ‘possible within a year’
18 May, 2016 RTNews
NATO’s former deputy military chief in Europe says his book, a fictional story which describes a nuclear war with Russia over the Baltic nations taking place in 2017, is based on an “entirely plausible” scenario.
General Sir Richard Shirreff, from Britain, served at the second-highest NATO military office in Europe between 2011 and 2014. He says his experience acquired in the alliance of war-gaming future conflicts helped him model the narrative for the book.
According to his scenario, starting next year Russia would first occupy Ukraine to secure a land route to Crimea and then invade the three Baltic nations, all of which are members of NATO. The move, Shirreff argued, would be driven by the perception of NATO’s weakness and Russia’s opposition to what it sees as the alliance’s attempts to encircle it.
“We need to judge President [Vladimir] Putin by his deeds not his words,” the retired general told BBC Radio 4’s Today program. “He has invaded Georgia, he has invaded the Crimea, he has invaded Ukraine. He has used force and got away with it.”

Beware what you wish for: Russia is ready for war
22 May, 2016 RTNews
So foreign ministers from the 28 NATO member-nations met in Brussels for a two-day summit, while mighty military power Montenegro was inducted as a new member.
Global Robocop NATO predictably discussed Afghanistan (a war NATO ignominiously lost); Iraq (a war the Pentagon ignominiously lost); Libya (a nation NATO turned into a failed state devastated by militia hell); Syria (a nation NATO, via Turkey, would love to invade, and is already a militia hell).
Afghans must now rest assured that NATO’s Resolute Support mission – plus “financial support for Afghan forces” – will finally assure the success of Operation Enduring Freedom forever.
Libyans must be reassured, in the words of NATO figurehead secretary Jens Stoltenberg, that we “should stand ready to support the new Government of National Accord in Libya.”
And then there’s the icing on the NATO cake, described as “measures against Russia”.
Stoltenberg duly confirmed, “We have already decided to enhance our forward presence in the eastern part of our alliance. Our military planners have put forward proposals of several battalions in different countries in the region. No decision has been taken on the numbers and locations.”

Putin: Romania ‘in crosshairs’ after opening NATO missile defense base
27 May, 2016 RTNews
During a visit to Greece intended to repair ties with the EU, Vladimir Putin said that Russia has “no choice” but to target Romania, which has recently opened a NATO missile defense base, and Poland, which plans to do so within two years.
“If yesterday people simply did not know what it means to be in the crosshairs in those areas of Romania, then today we will be forced to carry out certain measures to ensure our security. And it will be the same with Poland,” Putin said during a joint press conference with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in Athens on Friday.
The Russian President was referring to the Deveselu facility that officially became operational in May after nearly a decade and $800 million of planning and construction.

Russia deploys troops westward as standoff with NATO deepens
By Anton Zverev
Russia is building an army base near its border with Ukraine, the latest in a chain of new military sites along what the Kremlin sees as its frontline in a growing confrontation with NATO.
While there have been no clashes between the former Cold War rivals, Russia is building up forces on its western frontiers at a time when the NATO alliance is staging major military exercises and increasing deployments on its eastern flank.
A Reuters reporter who visited the Russian town of Klintsy, about 50 km (30 miles) from Ukraine, saw a makeshift army camp, large numbers of newly-arrived servicemen and military vehicles.
Two soldiers in camouflage gear who were manning a checkpoint in a forest turned the reporter away, saying they were guarding a "special military site".
Last year, Reuters also reported on construction of two other bases further to the south on Russia's border with Ukraine.

‘Absurd’: Russian envoy to NATO ridicules allegations of plans to invade Poland
7 Jun, 2016 RTNews
Russia has no plans whatsoever to attack Poland and any talk about such a scheme is both absurd and dangerous, Russian envoy to NATO Aleksandr Grushko has said.
“During the NATO secretary general’s recent visit to Poland, officials in this country [Poland] made statements suggesting that from now on Russia would know that any attack on Poland would mean an attack on NATO as a whole. This is completely absurd because they are discussing a non-existent problem. There are no plans for any attacks on Poland,” the diplomat said in an interview with TV channel Russia-24, adding that certain statements about NATO military exercises in the Baltics were “shockingly blatant.”
In the same interview, Grushko emphasized that it was very dangerous for NATO to start carrying out plans based on these false presumptions. “Their policies dwell in surreal reality and the most dangerous thing is that now they start to implement these policies in the form of military planning and preparations on the territories adjacent to our borders.”
The diplomat stated that the alleged Russian threat to NATO was nothing but a myth, invented in order to justify NATO’s current policies and to bring additional unity to the alliance and the Western political bloc in general.
“All these weird games [and] false suggestions that NATO members have no own armies, they will end sooner or later because it is difficult to constantly live in the fog of an ideological campaign based on nothing,” Grushko forecasted.

Putin says Russia must strengthen as 'aggressive' NATO approaches
Jun 22, 2016
Russia must boost its combat readiness in response to NATO's "aggressive actions" near Russia's borders, President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.
Addressing parliament on the 75th anniversary of Nazi Germany's attack on the Soviet Union, Putin berated the West for being unwilling to build "a modern, non-bloc collective security system" with Russia.
"Russia is open to discuss this crucial issue and has more than once shown its readiness for dialogue," he said. "But, just as it happened on the eve of World War Two, we do not see a positive reaction in response."
"On the contrary, NATO is strengthening its aggressive rhetoric and its aggressive actions near our borders. In these conditions, we are duty-bound to pay special attention to solving the task of strengthening the combat readiness of our country."
The U.S.-led military alliance is increasing its defenses in Poland and the three Baltic nations of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, as part of a wider deterrent that it hopes will discourage Russia from any repetition of its annexation of Ukraine's Crimea in 2014.
Russia sees NATO's deterrence plans as hostile.

US Army Mulling Purchase of Iron Dome Tech to Protect Europe From Russia
By JNS June 29, 2016
“Hark! battle is in the land, and great destruction.” Jeremiah 50:22
A United States Army general said Monday that the U.S. is looking to purchase the short-range missile interceptor used by Israel’s Iron Dome system, which would then be used for European air defense against Russia.
“With all that is happening in Europe, especially the fact that Russia has really awakened itself and has really decided to rebuild its military and is really posing a threat, we are looking at how we can do the multi-tiered defense,” Major General Glenn Bramhall of the U.S. Army’s Air and Missile Defense Command told Reuters at a conference hosted by the Israeli security organization iHLS.
Bramhall said the U.S. has test-launched the Israeli short-range interceptor missile called “Tamir,” with the expectation of complementing the army’s mid-range Patriot and THAAD interceptors within two to three years.
The Iron Dome has had a 90-percent success rate on intercepting Palestinian-fired rockets. Each Tamir unit would cost $100,000 for the U.S., according to Iron Dome developer Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. Bramhall said that price is “within an acceptable range.”

Moscow warns of ‘dangerous consequences’ as US moves to place missile defense system in S. Korea
8 Jul, 2016 RTNews
The boosting of US missile defense potential in Asia and the Pacific undermines the existing global security balance, the Russian Foreign Ministry said after it was announced that Washington intends to place missile defense systems in South Korea.
“From the very beginning of the discussion of this issue we have consistently and invariably pointed at the most dangerous consequences of such a decision and called for our partners not to make this wrong choice. Unfortunately, our calls have remained unheard,” reads a Foreign Ministry statement released Friday.
Russian diplomats noted that the increase in the Asia-Pacific segment of the global missile defense system by the United States and its allies would undermine the existing strategic balance both in the region and beyond.
“Such actions, regardless of the arguments they are backed with, have the most negative effect on global strategic stability, the adherence to which is such a favored topic of discussions in Washington,” the statement reads.
The ministry also warned that the US steps threaten to increase regional tensions and create additional barriers to the peaceful settlement of the conflict between North and South Korea and nuclear disarmament on the Korean peninsula.
The Russian diplomats concluded by expressing hope that the United States and South Korea would once again consider all factors behind the decision and abstain from potentially dangerous actions.

American intelligence officials say the building of dozens of underground bunkers has been proceeding for years and is a clear sign that the West should be concerned about the nuclear use doctrine Moscow is adopting.
