Netanyahu: Final Nuclear Deal a “Bad Mistake of Historic Proportions”
By Lea Speyer July 14, 2015
“In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” (Psalm 4:8)
A deal has been reached Tuesday between Iran and world powers that would lift sanctions on the Islamic Republic in exchange for curbs on the country’s nuclear program.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Zarif hailed the deal as a “win-win solution” and a “new chapter of hope” for humanity.
On Twitter, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani applauded the efforts of world powers to resolve the “unnecessary crisis” surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.
#IranDeal shows constructive engagement works. With this unnecessary crisis resolved, new horizons emerge with a focus on shared challenges.
— Hassan Rouhani (@hassanrouhani) July 14, 2015
The steadfastness, resistance, patience, perseverance & support of the great nation of #Iran were indeed key to this victory. #IranDeal
— Hassan Rouhani (@hassanrouhani) July 14, 2015
The agreement comes after two weeks of tumultuous talks between P5+1 and Iranian officials and more than a decade of sporadic negotiations.
While details of the deal have just been made public, world powers have agreed to limit the amount of nuclear activity Iran can conduct over the next 10 to 15 years. In exchange, international sanctions, which have choked off Iran’s economy, will be lifted.
Tehran will be allowed to continue to enrich uranium at 3.67 percent for the next 15 years and continue running 6,104 centrifuges, 1,044 of them at the secretive Fordo nuclear site.
Following an official announcement, the deal will be reviewed by legislators from the seven nations involved in the talks – US, Britain, Russia, China, France, Germany and Iran. US legislators will have 60 days to review the agreement and either accept it or reject it.
US President Barack Obama has warned that he would use his veto power should Congress fail to pass the nuclear legislation. The agreement has been a focal point in Obama’s foreign policy.
“I will veto any legislation that prevents the successful implementation of this deal,” the president said Tuesday during a press conference at the White House. “Every pathway to a nuclear weapon is cut off. The international community will be able to verify that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not achieve a nuclear weapon.”
“If Iran violates the deal, all the sanctions will snap back into place. Iran must complete key nuclear steps before it receives new sanctions relief,” Obama said.

Iran crowned as top regional, nuclear-threshold power. Win for Obama, fiasco for Netanyahu
DEBKAfile Special Report July 14, 2015
...The agreement now goes before the legislatures of the signatories. US Congress has 60 days to review the deal, with President Barack Obama faced with a hard sell in the Senate of am accord which he and Secretary of State John Kerry have fought for without quarter, and which many US lawmakers like Israel’s prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu have denounced as “a bad deal.”
The Iranians will keep the US on the hot plate even after the signing celebration.
The Majlis in Tehran will be asked to enact a law requiring the accord to be reviewed every few months and the power to annul it if the US does not pass the Iranian lawmakers’ test of compliance.
Khamenei this week denounced America as the “embodiment of global arrogance” - disregarding months of the close collaboration of Iran’s wars in Iraq, Syria and Yemen with the Obama administration.
Indeed, American officers are running the war on the Islamic State in Iraq in close sync with Iranian Revolutionary Guards commanders. Washington moreover withholds large-scale arms from Syrian rebels out of consideration for Tehran’s ally Bashar Assad. When Saudi civilians are put to flight by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebel missiles, the Obama administration looks the other way.
The situation in these war arenas poses an even greater threat than the deal signed in Vienna Tuesday.
Even if Iran does give way on inspections at Parchin and even if every last sanction is lifted by 2016, the deal pales in comparison to the turmoil in the region largely instigated byTehran and Iran's promoption on the world stage . Anyway, many of the sanctions have been quietly lifted to win Iran’s acquiescence to the talks. Iran has never interrupted its development of intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Netanyahu convenes security cabinet: Israel not bound by deal with Iran
By JPOST.COM STAFF \ 07/14/2015
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday said the nuclear deal reached between Iran and world powers has made the world a much more dangerous place today than it was yesterday.
Netanyahu's comments came as he was set to convene his Security Cabinet to discuss Israel's response to the deal.
"The world powers bet our collective future on a deal with the world's number one sponsor of terror," the prime minister said.
He accused the world powers of gambling that Iran's regime will change in ten years' time when aspects of the deal expire. "The deal gives Iran every incentive not to change," he said. The deal will give Iran a cash bonanza of hundreds of billions of dollars which will fuel its efforts to destroy Israel, he said.
Netanyahu hinted that the military option was still on the table, saying that "is not bound by this deal with Iran because Iran continues to seek our destruction. We will always defend ourselves."

Russia: 'The World Heaved a Sigh of Relief' over Iran Deal
By Gil Ronen 7/14/2015
Russia said Tuesday that it welcomes the agreement reached in Vienna concerning Iran’s nuclear program.
"We are certain that the world heaved a sigh of relief today," an official statement said. "The negotiations supported by the UN Security Council and involving Russia, China, the USA, France, Germany, Great Britain, Iran and the European Union went on for many years. We are satisfied that the solution found is based on the principle of phasing and mutuality which our country has been consistently supporting at every stage of these complicated negotiations.
"The IAEA will carefully monitor the implementation of the agreed steps to prove the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program," Russia added. "Iran gets the opportunity to develop this program, including uranium enrichment, under IAEA control and with the gradual lifting of sanctions imposed against Tehran, something we have long called for. This is also important for the implementation of large-scale plans of peaceful nuclear cooperation between Russia and Iran that got support in the documents approved today... Our bilateral relations with Iran will receive a new impetus and will no longer be influenced by external factors.
"Russia will do everything in its power to ensure the full implementation of the Vienna agreements, assisting in strengthening global and regional security, global nuclear non-proliferation, the creation in the Middle East of a zone free from weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery, and the mobilization of a broad coalition in the region to counter terrorist threats."

Obama's Snap-Back Sanctions Won't Snap Back
Baruch Stein July 14, 2015
The Obama administration has touted its provisions for snap-back sanctions should Iran violate a final agreement, to be called the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA).
Referring to American and European sanctions that are now in place, to the exclusion of UN sanctions, the framework states that, “If at any time Iran fails to fulfill its commitments, these sanctions will snap back into place.” It only takes a layman’s reading, though, to see that the snap-back provisions are not as decisive as the administration is presenting them to be.
The framework requires that Iran be confronted with any, “disagreements about the performance of JCPOA commitments,” through, “A dispute resolution process.”
It certainly seems fair that if Iran is accused of wrongdoing there should be a procedure to examine the situation before they are simply declared guilty and sentenced. The problem is not the idea of “innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.” The problem is that even once proven guilty, sanctions would still not snap-back.
Once found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, assuming that to be the standard of the “dispute resolution process” (my how western values have taken over) the only thing Iran would have to do would be to, “resolve disagreements about the performance of JCPOA commitments.” That is to say, if you get caught, just correct your behavior. Thanks for trying, come back and try again soon.
The reapplication of UN sanctions requires, “significant non-performance [that] cannot be resolved through [the dispute resolution] process,” and even in such an event the wording is that sanctions, “could be re-imposed.”

Republicans React to Nuclear Deal; 'Shame on Obama'
By Arutz Sheva Staff 7/14/2015
Leading Republican Party figures have responded to the deal signed Tuesday morning between Iran and world powers - led by the United States - with skepticism.
The first GOP Congressman to issue a full statement on the agreement was Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and one of the most prominent critics of the Obama administration's conduct during talks, as well as the deal itself as its form began to take shape over the past several months.
In his statement, released Tuesday afternoon, Corker said he would reserve full judgement until after reading the full text of the deal, but said he was deeply pessimistic it would be a good deal for the US and its allies.
"Throughout these negotiations, I have expressed significant concerns to the administration about the crossing of red line after red line as we have moved from a goal of dismantling Iran’s nuclear capabilities to managing its proliferation," Corker said.
"I want to read the agreement in detail and fully understand it, but I begin from a place of deep skepticism that the deal actually meets the goal of preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon."
Noting that the deal was subject to Congressional review - thought President Obama could well choose to veto a vote against it - Corker vowed it would be vigorously scrutinized.
"In the coming days, Congress will need to scrutinize this deal and answer whether implementing the agreement is worth dismantling our painstakingly-constructed sanctions regime that took more than a decade to establish.
"Iran continues to be the lead sponsor of terrorism in the world and relieving sanctions would make the Tehran regime flush with cash and could create a more dangerous threat to the United States and its allies."

Iran Boasts At Odds With Text Of Agreement
By Aaron Klein July 14, 2015
There seems to be a disconnect between the text of the nuclear deal between Iran and the U.S. and its allies and the way the Iranian government is presenting the specific terms of the historic agreement, a KleinOnline analysis has found.
Reflecting the Islamist party line in Tehran, Iran’s official IRNA state-run news agency released what it called a “Summary of provisions of the CJPOA” referring to the Comprehensive Joint Plan of Action affirmed by Iran and six world powers, including the U.S.
Iran’s “summary” seems to distort the actual text of the deal.
Regarding the lifting of sanctions, the IRNA claims that “all economic, financial sanctions in banking, finance, oil, gas, petrochemical, commerce, insurance and transportations leveled by the European Union and the U.S. under the pretext to Iran’s nuclear program, will be lifted on early stages of the agreement.”
The news agency fails to inform that according to the agreement, U.S. sanctions will only be removed once the United Nation’s International Atomic Energy Agency verifies Tehran is in compliance with the “implementation of the agreed nuclear-related measures.”
Iran portrays the agreement as affirming Tehran’s entire “nuclear infrastructure will remain intact, no centrifuges will be dismantled and research and development on key and advanced centrifuges such as IR-4, IR-5, IR-6, IR-8 will continue.”
However, the specifics of the agreement put “agreed limitations on all uranium enrichment and uranium enrichment-related activities including certain limitations on specific research and development (R&D) activities for the first 8 years.”
The text of the deal states Iran “will commence testing of up to 30 IR-6 and IR-8 centrifuges after eight and a half years” and that “Iran will continue to conduct enrichment R&D in a manner that does not accumulate enriched uranium.”

Western Christendom bows to Shia Islam
by Michele Bachmann 14 July 2015
Fact: Iran remains the world’s leading state sponsor of terror.
Fact: Obama’s agreement clearly allows Iran to have nuclear weapons.
The embarrassing, foolhardy, tragic Iran agreement announced earlier Tuesday from Vienna was the dream of Barack Obama going back to his speech in 2009, given within weeks of assuming the presidency.
Vienna, in supreme irony, is the city where Muslim hoards were miraculously defeated from invading Europe with the goal of replacing Western Christendom with Islamic supremacy.
Today, the leading nation representing Western Christendom, the U.S. capitulated to the global aspirations of Shia Islamic supremacy.
From Obama’s perspective, the agreement grandly celebrates his crowning foreign-policy achievement – the revival of Iran as a world power holding terrifyingly real power.
Unlike Americans who prefer a strong America and a secure Israel, Obama prefers to empower Iran economically and militarily.
The agreement does not require Iran to rollback or dismantle its nuclear program. In fact, the opposite is true.
Now Iran will enjoy the active funding of their nuclear ambitions by the international community, at the likely cost of hundreds of billions of dollars.
Whereas the U.S. formerly prevented Iran from gaining nuclear weapons, we will now pay them, in part, to do so.

Iran nuclear deal gets UN endorsement, paving way for sanctions relief
20 Jul, 2015 RTNews
The nuclear deal reached in Vienna between Iran and six world powers was unanimously endorsed by UN Security Council on Monday. According to the resolution, sanctions will be lifted over the next 10 years should Tehran adhere to the agreement.
Sanctions will be partly eased on Iran after an IAEA report proving that Tehran stays true to its nuclear commitments is received by the UN council, the resolution says, according to TASS. Provided the Vienna accord is honored for 10 years, the UN will close its Iran file.
In terms of weapons supply to Iran, the resolution allows for supply of ballistic missile technology and heavy weapons, including tanks and attack helicopters, with Security Council approval, Reuters reported; the US has pledged to veto such requests. But the restrictions will be in place for a while: eight years for ballistic missile technology, five years on heavy weapons and an arms embargo on conventional weapons for five years. A decade-long restriction on the transfer to Iran of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes is also in place.
The deal would make the world "safer and more secure," US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power said. But she added that America's "concern about human rights violations committed by the Iranian government or about instability Iran fuels" remains in place. The accusations were rejected by Iran's UN Ambassador Gholamali Khoshroo, who told the council that "the country that invaded two countries in our region and created favorable grounds for the growth of terrorism and extremism is not well placed to raise such accusations."
