I just got up at noon, and now I am still falling asleep! I either cannot go to sleep or I can't stay awake.
Thank you so much for the added info.
Actually, the info about the Ethiopians was super interesting! especially bout the Wallamos .... am always amazed beyond belief at how believers overcome pain, for the sake of the gospel!
I have been up an hour and a half and need a nap! Hope you were able to get some more sleep Barbara.I just bought a pack of those highlighters...thank you Cindy! :) I hope they work for you! Let me know ok? I know the ones that I use work, but I got mine at Wallmart and it was so long ago I don't remember the brand.

I read on Michael's homepage that Northern Hemisphere is experiencing radio interference and microwave bursts detected at ground level, that it could be intentional, he said he would talk more about it on his podcast but I was not able to fast forward there and did not want to listen for 2 1/2 hours, so I did not hear more information, I might get the information if I have time or I might not take the time, depends on if I am busy doing something else or not.

Hi everyone Anna, 3 months extra food is a good idea. I would suggest 4 other things are important - your Bible, normal soap, bleach ( to disinfect water, some people suggest 2 drops per quart) and cut antiseptic cream. In a grid-down situation, most people will die from water diseases and infected cuts. If you haven't stocked up on these things, please DO IT NOW. I think a 1 year supply. I also discovered that dandelions can be eaten as wild food - the root is edible ( but peel it first ) and tastes a bit like parsnip, and the leaves can be used in salads. So God has provided extra food just in our lawns and gardens. I think knowing how to grow food via hydroponics is also helpful, as if you remember from when you were a kid you would cut a bit of potato off a potato and then stick it in a shallow dish with a bit of water in it ( 1/16" inch ) and it would start sprouting - it works well. I'm also getting some garlic cloves to sprout doing the same thing. Garlic is a natural anibiotic when you crush it ( raw...sorry...cooking garlic kills the good stuff in it ) You can also buy general plant fertilizer and add it to water and use that as a hydroponics nutrient liquid to grow your food at home in - all you need is sunlight and a 2' x 3' area to put things, even in an apartment, So if you don't have soil, you can grow with just water and nutrients. Its a good idea to know how to do it. You can also make your own fertilizer by just adding food scraps to a bucket of water ( maybe outside, it might smell a bit ) and it becomes a liquid fertilizer. Good reading : mikesbackyardgarden.org/indoor-hydroponic-garden/ I prefer a no flow system as its basically just a container with nutrient solution in it, no pumps or aerators etc are needed - and it works without any electricity. A no flow system is just a container ( a bucket or rectangular shallow-ish normal storage tub you could buy at Home Depot ) with nutrient solution in it ( nutrient solution is just a really fancy way of saying "fertilizer dissolved in water" ) and the plants suspended so their roots are dipped in the solution so they can get to the nutrients in the water. Different plants need different nutrients in terms of NPK ( Nitrogen Phosphorus Potassium(K) ) but a general fertilizer should do. A liquid fertilizer is probably easiest to use. thisnzlife.co.nz/a-beginners-guide-to-growing-with-hydroponics/happy to help with any questions. I'm building my hydroponics system right now. I have a bucket and 2 storage tubs. modernsurvivalblog.com/survival-kitchen/bleach-water-ratio-for-drinking-water/

Interesting info Steve....I am thinking this is because of the expected great food shortage?
I did know about dandelions...
I also put the flowers in with other things for tea. The flowers are considered the most beneficial having approximately 115 times the polyphenol content than that found in the roots and more antioxidant properties.
I have always been somewhat torn about being a prepper. On the one hand I think of Joseph in the Bible.
at first, storing away food etc. seemed like a win/win but in the end.... for the Egyptian people, not so much. Of course, they relied on the government ( did not save any food etc. for themselves it seems)... so there is that ( don't depend on the government).
So on the one hand, I do not wish to be presumptuous, and almost demanding God take care of me.
However.....on the other hand, I do not wish to be so self-sufficient, I do not need any 'faith' in God.
I wonder if I am totally prepared, will I lose the opportunity, to allow God to work in my life
( yes maybe, even to the point of miracles, possible like the old testament.)
For some Christians their faith may be so strong, being a prepper in no way, diminishes, their trust in God and His provision.
My faith, has always been somewhat on the weak side...and yet, God had indeed, provided in so so so many amazing ways for me in my life.
Not only would seeing God provide for me, ( and my family) perhaps strengthen not only my faith, but, perhaps unbelieving neighbors.
And so...I am conflicted....
I have a 'small' little back room of some stored items ( rice, beans etc.) but I am afraid, that stash....is showing a bit of my lack of Faith.
Well, part of my 'store' tho, is to grab 'deals' because it seems every time we turn around, prices are indeed going up and up.
I don't want to be presumptuous on the one hand, nor on the other hand, do I want to be so lacking in faith.
God has done what I truly believe were miracles in my life ( even when, I was not asking, looking for them, or was having anything to do with Him).
Still, I found your info fascinating ...especially the hydroponics. I had always thought that would be sooooooo complicated.... but 2 feet by 3 feet and it can be done....wow.
Yet, I am still leery if I could pull it off at nearly 77.
I know they are saying fertilizer is going to be near impossible to get also.....
I do live by the ocean so maybe some seaweed fertilizers? We don't actually get much seaweed on the beach here in Seaside sooooooo that's another issue.
I may buy some anyway, for my spring flowers and veggies, raspberries etc. etc.

I like the areogarden because it gave me the confidence I needed to get started growing hydroponically, for me it starts the plants healthy and from there I move some plants to soil, which I just did to burdock plant and soon will to the dandelion. There is a yarrow plant growing that is the size of a dime, it is cute. I move some hydroponic plants to their own containers, all lettuce I move to its own container, I need to buy some glass mason jars for them because for now the only containers I have them moved them into is coffee cans. I still can not put plants outdoors as I heard today a christian weather man, if I remember his name is weatherman plus, he said storm and cold will return on the 21st and then again at the end of the month. Now I want flowers, I have the seeds and the color grow lights, so I should put in areogarden tomorrow and see how that works out.

I know many people believe in being prepared, and that's ok if that's what they want to do. The only thing I don't like about it is that some seem to be only thinking of themselves. And one of the big things that Jesus came to save us from is being self centered. Instead He tells us to be first God centered and then other centered. So if you're saving up extra food or whatever, it should be to share with others as God sends them to you for you to help. And of course we should also realize that He will also provide the means and the ability to save up things like that if that's what He wants us to do. This should always guide our thoughts and actions: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:” (Philippians 2:3–5) This also reminds me of a story Jesus told, which I'm sure you're all familiar with... here's the end of it: ““Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” ’ “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ “This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.”” (Luke 12:18–21) I'm not suggesting that this says storing up extra food is wrong, only that it warns we need to be rich toward God first and always, looking to do His Will and not just to promote our own survival. After all, why would we want to stay here if we can be with Him in Heaven, unless of course it's because He still has work for us to do here which includes having food to help ourself and others with? Just sharing my thoughts about this, which in no way are better or more important than those of others.

I guess what I'm suggesting is we can develop some form of ability to do something, so God can bless our efforts. God also suggests when we see trouble coming its wise to make some sort of preparation along the lines of "Wise people see trouble coming and get out of its way, but fools go straight to it and suffer for it." ( Prov 22:3 ) My concern is what appears to be a deliberately engineered collapse of the trucking and food systems globally, which basically forces us to respond in some way.
I dont see preparing for bad things as diminishing God at all. Its funny, I have heard warnings from other Christians about the coming supply chain collapse for a while, was perhaps God was speaking through them? It seems only Christians are preparing at the moment. Joseph was warned about the famine by God by Pharoahs dream. I think its ultimately about our true motivation to prepare - If you take advantage of God by throwing all caution to the wind I think thats wrong, versus maintaining a faith that God will provide for us ultimately and need to make some sort of effort to provide for our families lest be found to be like the heathen ( 1 Tim 5:8 ). There is a middle ground I think. I mean ultimately God could take everything from you if He wanted to to make a point.... :-)
I guess there are many views, I think you have to find one approach that works for your circumstances. Its also interesting that in the process of preparing, we may learn skills we can share with others as well? I think if you humbly do what you can to be wise and ultimately trust in God, I think that honors God while understanding we have physical needs we need to be balanced about. I think its a debate you could have for a long time :-)

The neighbor dogs came over for a visit, two large dogs one puppy pit bull, that was a fun visit. Been doing housework, cooking, cleaning and gardening, I need to better organize everything.

it's funny, but the whole time my 5 kids were growing up, I never had a dishwasher. We bought this house 4 months before my youngest daughter got married and moved out and it had a dishwasher! It stopped working shortly after Jenn got married though, which was fine because why would I use a dishwasher for just two people's dishes? Then, as my health got worse and the pain increased, I couldn't stand very long so doing even those few dishes was hard. But we fixed that problem by using paper plates. I wonder if we'll have dishwashers in heaven or if we'll use paper plates there?

yesterday was a beautiful day, it got up to the 60's even! It was so nice to be able to leave the door open and let fresh air into the house. This time of year we often have days like that, but we also often still get really cold days and even snow storms. So now you never know whether to dress for winter or summer.
