Excerpts.
The term “dumbing down” was a secret code used by film writers in the 1930s to revise scripts to appeal to viewers of lower intelligence. And for the last few decades, this phrase reflects a painful reality; today's Americans are in serious intellectual trouble. They’re in danger of losing all cultural and political capital because of illogical rationalism, diminished civic education, false idealism and lowered expectations.
The manner in which political, civic and economic ignorance contributes to grave national problems is the most contagious, self-inflicted disease our republic faces today. It is the most destructive of all epidemics since its only inoculation is economic and civic education.
What brought about this dumbing down of America? Since the sheer nature of man is survival and he must provide himself with the tools necessary to confront any threat to his existence, how can an entire country allow this to happen? Those who don’t read don’t know their history, nor have the tools for survival. The rise and fall of civilizations is chronicled within the pages of more books than we can digest in a lifetime. And there is one reoccurring theme that resonates in every edition: the under-educated, ill-informed, apathetic members of a society are most vulnerable and most easily enslaved.
“History is the sum total of the things that could have been avoided.”
– Konrad Adenauer
Vladimir Lenin told us, “Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.” At one time, America reigned supreme as a world model by providing the best quality public education on the planet. But while most free nations have been adapting to technical, social and political evolution, we continue to allow Washington politics to dictate the curriculum for local education. With federally mandated progressive Common Core teaching in all public schools, we are socially and politically brainwashing generations of liberalist robotic citizens to do what they are told to do – not what they think. Public education is now education by the federal government.
Progressives have been mounting an assault on the American family for decades under the guise of education. Yet the Constitution explicitly forbids federal predominance in education via the 10th Amendment. Fear of losing federal dollars has coerced states to accept Common Core education criteria without a whimper. Educators must now teach federally approved civics and social studies, which shape family values that support liberal political ideology in the classrooms. Parental values have been hijacked by the long arm of federalism to facilitate a government-controlled state.
“The philosophy in the classroom today is now the philosophy of the government.”
– Norman Williams
This dismal outcome has long been in the making on many fronts. This experiment of engaging in social engineering with our youth has been a socialist avocation to homogenize entire societies for centuries. But it reared its ugly face for good under President Barack Obama. And now like a malignant cancer it will not go away. To advance the progressive docket, government must regulate all education. And this enables them to ration information for training docile, obedient, dependent new citizens. This is the lifeblood for their base. Each graduating class brings them closer to their brand of progressivism to inflict on America.
“The very concept of objective truth is fading out of the world.”
– George Orwell
During the Obama years, we witnessed a horrific assault on our intelligence when he and his hand-picked news gang kept America dumb and ill-informed. Obama spoon-feed us his personal views on everything, including societal events to divide our unity. This excited his base, which enhanced his image as a social equalizer. By dulling our brains, progressives controlled our nation with eight years of cryptic federalism. Obama’s opiate to control the masses by keeping them dumb haunts us today.
“The public will believe anything, so long as it is not founded on truth.”
– Edith Sitwell
