My words will be in this color and Biblical scriptures in this color today
A new topic today is:
Have any of the people who "died" and were resuscitated really gone to heaven or hell? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are certainly many books written, videos, and even movies by people, claiming to have gone to either Heaven or Hell, when they 'died', but then were resuscitated.
I will look a bit more in depth at why this is a dangerous concept, but first a verse from God:
27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, Hebrews 9:27
I think it's is helpful, to get an idea of what these people claim the see, hear, etc. when in what they think is Heaven.
Firstly they are mostly about: Me, Myself, and I...
Some don't even mention God or Jesus, but even if they do, it's a side footnote.
Here is another scripture to ponder:
13 No one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man. John 3:13
The Son of Man ( is not plural)...
and it means Jesus. For no one but Jesus, came to earth from Heaven.
One famous book came out in 2011 titled:
'Heaven Is for Real' which recounts four-year-old Colton Burpo’s vision of heaven.
I don't know about you, but I am not inclined to get the inside story of Heaven, from some random 4 year old.
A 4 year old, who would have little Biblical knowledge, but possible a good fanciful imagination ( as children that age can have).
For those who guide this people are leading them astray; And those who are guided by them are brought to confusion. Isaiah 9:16
Another best seller, 6 year old, Alex Malarkey who said he went to Heaven eventually admitted he made it all up, and had not even read the Bible.
I personally, am not blaming a 4 year old, or a 6 year old,
but they had adults around them, (not all the adults)...
However a book does not write itself, or a movie film itself.... and some of the adults, profited big time, via these children.
No one sues righteously and no one pleads honestly. They trust in confusion and speak lies; They conceive mischief and bring forth iniquity. Isaiah 59:4
So it seems some are outright hoaxes however, some could be hallucinations.
So many pitfalls...
A 'great' way to become confused, especially, if you do not know, what the Bible says....
33 for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. 1 Corinthians 14:33
There is a chance you are being outright lied to or reading someone else's confusion (even a 4 year old).
You are also getting a false twisted 'gospel', only..... it's not 'good news'.
16 There are six things which the Lord hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:
17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, Proverbs 6:16,17
I will look at this a bit more tomorrow. Done for Today

My words will be in this color and Biblical scriptures in this color today
A question to be considered when deciding about believing, following, reading or studying their words, books, lectures etc. of those folks who claimed the died, went to Heaven ( or Hell)
and saw 'God' ( tho, often they don't even say that anything about seeing God, )
but for those who do say, they did see, and perhaps talked with God......
Do we believe their stories.... or God's word?
18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. John 1:18
Also
20 But He said, “You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!” Exodus 33:20
True, some people in the Bible 'saw' God, but they 'saw' His Glory not His face.
And those Biblical people, rather than talking about: great entertainments, games, picnics etc.
Instead, the people in Biblical scripture did not speak of such frivolous things, For example:
Isaiah trembled with anguish and fear, at how unholy and sinful he was:
3 “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory.”
4 And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke.
5 Then I said,
“Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.”
Isaiah 6:3-6
I should mention in the Bible these were 'visions' not people who 'died' and were resuscitated and claimed the 'saw' Heaven or Hell.
An interesting example, of someone who died in Scripture, was Lazarus ( Jesus raised Lazarus from death).
And yet, nowhere in Scripture, do we read about Lazarus's having gone to Heaven or Hell during those 4 days....
nor about what sights he saw, or conversations he had or picnics he went to etc.
In fact, that is true, for the several others, in scriptures.....
nothing was said in the Bible, about their time, while dead.
However, there IS an account of 'grave danger' when consulting the dead, illustrated in God's Word, the Bible:
Saul went the the witch at Endor to have her conjure up Samuel, the prophet, from the grave.
That morbid craving for information, from someone who had died......
reaped Saul, his death sentence.
19 Moreover the Lord will also give over Israel along with you into the hands of the Philistines, therefore tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. Indeed the Lord will give over the army of Israel into the hands of the Philistines!” 1 Samuel 28:19
This is God's view on this:
10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,
11 or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.
12 For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord; and because of these detestable things the Lord your God will drive them out before you.
13 You shall be blameless before the Lord your God.
14 For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do so.
Deuteronomy 18:10-14

Well done! But I know some people would question what you said about John 3:13, because even I can think of others who've gone to heaven, like Elijah and Enoch who were taken up to heaven without dying. But the true meaning of John 3:13 as MacArthur says, is that: This verse contradicts other religious systems’ claims to special revelation from God. Jesus insisted that no one has ascended to heaven in such a way as to return and talk about heavenly things (cf. 2 Corinthians 12:1–4). Only He had His permanent abode in heaven prior to His incarnation and, therefore, only He has the true knowledge regarding heavenly wisdom (cf. Proverbs 30:4). The MacArthur study Bible

My words will be in this color and Biblical scriptures in this color today.
I am reminded, when considering the veracity, of those who claim they died, and went to heaven or hell....
of this verse:
But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— 1 Corinthians 2:9
However, that does not necessarily mean we should never think about Heaven or Hell:
1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:1-2
and
18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18
Believers look forward to Heaven knowing, this world is not their real home:
13 These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. Hebrews 11:13
However, we can't get a more: accurate, authentic, faithful, factual, solid, reliable, legitimate,
or better understanding, anywhere else.... or from anyone...
about either place, Heaven or Hell....
than from God, in His Word the Bible!
( as opposed to a 4 year old child for example).
19 So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. 2 Peter 1:19
We can trust, that God had a good reason, for giving us only a limited understanding, and put boundaries, on what He would reveal, at this time.
One of Satan's goals is to deceive ( just about everything!)
9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world— he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. Revelation 12:9
So it seems to me, the devil would be very inventive, to disseminate as much inaccurate and/or delusional ideas, masquerading as: 'information' about Heaven and Hell as possible.
And Satan will use people, who for profit, or fame, or whatever, will offer up fanciful imaginations:
24 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. Matthew 24:24
There is a great danger, that even some Christians, may for a time be enamored with the devil's cleverly devised myths:
16 For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 2 Peter 1:16
As always Satan wants to move people away from the Bible, and why not have a plethora, of his own inspired books and movies:
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed,
has God said,
‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?
Genesis 3:1
People abandon God's Word, the Bible, for a 4 year old's fairy tale. I think, many, most, if not all 4 year old's have some fairy tales, so that is not the issue.

Well done! When you wrote saying we'd have better understanding about the subject when we learn about it from God's Word, then from anyone else, it reminded me about a time recently when I was explaining something about God to my granddaughter. She has a friend who seems to be determined to reject anything concerning God, so Gracie is always trying to make her understand things. so she would be sure to give the right answer, she generally asked me about it first. In this case the question concerned heaven and hell. After I explained that satisfactorily, Gracie said Her friend couldn't accept that God had no beginning or end and Grace had no idea of how to explain that. As I talked about it, I could see by the look on Grace's face and in her eyes that she wasn't really understanding it herself yet, although she was willing to accept it on faith. So I finally told her about the scripture where God says His thoughts aren't like ours and His ways aren't like ours. I explained that she was trying to put God in a box and by doing that she was putting human limits on Him; that she was doing that because it was the only way she knew of to try to understand "God". I told her that there was so much more to God than we could ever hope to understand, but because He loves us, He wants us to know and understand Him as much as we possibly can with our limited brains. I told her it would be like us trying to make a lady bug understand being human - it's impossible - for us anyway. But not for God. That's why He gave us His Word. But even in His Word He lets us know that although He's giving us all we can understand at this time, that when we get to heaven we will understand Him much better. We are finite creatures (like a lady bug) and God is an infinite being. We need to stop looking at Him as though He was just a very smart and loving Human being; and we need to realize that we're trying to understand an infinite God with a finite brain. It can't be done. That's one reason Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit, so the Holy Spirt could give us a better understanding on Him. I was watching Grace as I talked, and it was so neat because I saw it in her face the second she finally "got it" it was like the "light bulb when on" in her mind. Right after that she got a big grin on her face and got all excited - literally kind of bouncing up and down in her chair, and said she understood. Then without me asking, she repeated what I'd said in her own words, showing she really understood it. Right then I again saw "the light bulb go on" in her facial expression again, which told me that the Holy Spirit had just given her another revelation. Yep, she started bouncing again and explained that now she understood a couple of other things about God that she hadn't before. (she told us what they were and what she now understood and she got it right again, but I don't want to keep on about that and hijack the thread here.) It sure was a blessing though to get to see the Holy Spirit at work in her and see her open to Him!

That is such a neat story about Gracie. And that God has no beginning or end, is infinite in every way....
is something, no one can understand, no matter how old we get to be....because like you said, we are finite.....we had a 'beginning'.
What is interesting to me, is that there are now physicists, who are so close to understanding there is a God and yet they are still so far away.
One physicist has used a AI to do calculations, and has come close to deciding we are living in a simulation....
the whole universe is a simulation ( based on sub atomic stuff etc. LOL)
But, tho they are using the word 'simulation' (kind like a computer video game) and The idea this universe is 'programmed'
is so close, in my mind, in a way to God, being outside of this 'creation' and having 'programmed' ( created)
( like a computer game it needs a 'programmer"
and it sounds so close ( in a way) to
"In the beginning God 'Created', The Heavens and Earth) Genesis 1:1
But further, they discuss how could we ever know, for sure?
since the programmer, could have built into the simulation, ways to counteract that knowledge?
But then, they go on, to wonder about the energy output, to keep the simulation running ( LOL)
And suggest either the programmer could program things, in such a way as to slow the drain on energy etc.
I immediately thought yes.....
First a 'rapture',
Then the tribulation,
and finally ( after the millennium) destroy the Heaven and Earth...
and 'creating' a new Heaven and Earth.
Also their whole thinking is based on an super 'intelligence' outside of our time and matter 'Creating'.
so close.....
All they had to do tho, was to read the Bible.

My words are in this color and Biblical scriptures are in this color today
As I mentioned previously, concerning all the many profitable books on people who claim that in their near death experience, they went to Heaven or Hell....
only ONE book is infallible, that is the Word of God, the Bible.
Yet, someone might wonder....
But still....maybe they serve a purpose, in 'convincing those who read the books, of Heaven or Hell?
But Jesus said this about Lazarus and the rich man:
31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets,
they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”
Luke 16:31
This is an issue, of grave eternal consequences where a person will spend eternity.
People need reliable information, not some sensational, and/or mystical 'experience'.
Another problem is not only are these stories, are either:
dreams, false memories, fantasies, hallucinations, even LIES
There is also the possibility they are the result of demonic influence.
Again, the Bible says this:
Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped the waters in]His garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name or His son’s name? Surely you know! Proverbs 30:4
Interestingly, when the apostle Paul, in a 'vision' was taken to heaven, He did not write a best selling book about all his experiences, Instead he said:
4 and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter. 2 Corinthians 12:4
Another issue with so many of these stories is I am fairly certain they do not all perfectly agree. So then, we have a kind of:
My heaven works for me and your heaven works for you.
But neither 'works' for God.
However....
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
Another danger is when a person turns from scripture, to a book for their information, this is what often can happen:
6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ
and are turning to a different gospel—
Galatians 1:6
Instead of doing what the Bereans did:
11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. Acts 17:11

My words will be in this color and Biblical Scriptures in this color today.
Perhaps some people are thinking, well, who is to say? These 'might' be real visits to heaven or Hell or not real.
There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death. Proverbs 14:12
Which reminds me of a saying, If you do not stand for Truth, you end up falling for anything.
3 What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? 4 By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar Romans 3:3,4
Either we believe the Bible is absolute Truth, without error or we don't.
17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17
Thus we need to be wary of those who have dreams, visions, experience, etc.
13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.
14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
Matthew 7:13,14
Instead we should consider this:
24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.
26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
Matthew 7:24-27
We are not to get entangled in:
extra Biblical revelations trips to heaven after life experiences Mystical/spiritual involvements etc.
They might sincerely believe what they are saying, but in fact, are being false teachers... hardly knowing God's word, the Bible, at all.
Others may know exactly what they are doing.
But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 Peter 2:1
And this:
1 “If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder,
2 and the sign or wonder that he tells you comes to pass, and if he says, ‘Let us go after other gods,’ which you have not known, ‘and let us serve them,’
3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams.
For the Lord your God is testing you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deuteronomy 13:1-3
Some of these writers of books
( not all, some are deceived)
are wannabe prophets for profit or worse.
2“‘I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. Revelation 2:2

My words will be in this color today and Biblical scriptures in this color
God tells what we need to know in this life, about Heaven and/or Hell . It is not for us, to add some 'experience' false memory, etc. as if it stood, on equal footing with God's word.
In fact, God says:
18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, Revelation 22:18
God always has our best interests at heart, and if He does not tell us certain things right now, we can be sure, its for our benefit, and trust His reasons.
29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God,
but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29
It would be a sin, to go outside of what God has said, and start trusting random person's dream, speculation, theory, story, etc. Especially, on things that the Bible is silent on.
The Bible is a closed book, there is no extra Biblical Revelation. This borders on the occult, and moving into the realm of psychics and new-agers.
10 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer
11 or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, 12 for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.
Deuteronomy 18:10-12
To dabble in this fantasies is to veer of the basic Christian doctrine of 'sola Scriptura' meaning only the Biblical scriptures are absolute truth and authoritative. It is God's word.
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16
On this issue and on every other we need to compare it to what God says:
11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so
Acts 17:11.
And this verse makes it even more clear, we are not to add to scripture:
6 I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us
not to go beyond what is written,
that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another.
1 Corinthians 4:6
Jesus said this about looking to human doctrines:
6 And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,
“‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;
7 in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’
8 You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”
Mark 7:7,8
I had written more but my computer is acting up and I lost some of it, and can't find it anywhere soooooo

Thank you Cindy! I was wondering, if I should try to wrap it up today or just continue until Monday and do a new topic, then? Ending this one on Friday is fine with me, or you can continue it till Monday, or you can end it on Friday and start a new thread for you to post on just on the weekends; maybe call it "weekend bible studies" lol
6 And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,
“‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;
7 in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’
8 You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”
Mark 7:7,8
I had written more but my computer is acting up and I lost some of it, and can't find it anywhere soooooo
Done for Today
What has always amazed me is that John, James and Peter all saw Jesus in the transfiguration, and saw Moses and Elijah with Him then. Can you imagine being present when that happened??? It must have been an amazing experience! Yet none of them used that experience to "prove" anything about Jesus or to convince people to be saved! Not once did that do that! Or look at all the amazing experiences Paul had, including going to heaven! And yet again, he didn't use any of them to prove anything or to convince people to be saved! In fact they actually say that using experiences to prove things is wrong; that we are to use and trust only God's Word. Yet today we see the exact opposite. Now people worship their experiences and seek out more experiences, and see them as being more correct and reliable then the Bible! Like Jesus said, they have eyes, but cannot see!

My words will be in this color today and Biblical Scriptures in this color.
I will give just one sentence quote, from the 6 year old Kevin Malarkey's 'visit'... ( not that he really went....)
to Heaven....
From the book his dad wrote titled: The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven.
Kevin has recanted his story, by the way, and said he made it up, for attention but his dad, still holds that it was true...
Nevertheless, it sold millions, and was a big sensational book.
Here is just one sentence quote:
"The devil has three heads, with red eyes, moldy teeth, and hair made of fire".
It does not take a Biblical scholar, in order, to do a quick check, to see what the Bible says about the devil.
No where do I find: moldy teeth, hair of fire, red eyes' or 3 heads
What does the Bible, God's word say?
14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14
I believe the reason Satan can do that is before he fell into sin, he was perhaps, the most beautiful of God's angels.
Here is another description:
12........“You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, emerald, and carbuncle; and crafted in gold were your settings and your engravings.
On the day that you were created they were prepared. 14 You were an anointed guardian cherub.
Ezekiel 28:12:14
No mention of 3 heads or moldy teeth etc.
God's word even says this:
You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, till unrighteousness was found in you.
Ezekiel 28:15
However, it is impossible to say for certain, what the devil looks like as he is a spiritual being.
Just because a book is a smashing success, does not mean, a Christian should read it, or give such fantasies, false memories, and tales etc. any credence .
7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Romans 8:7
And this verse
14 Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of the evil.
15 Avoid it; do not go on it; turn away from it and pass on.
Proverbs 4:14,15
And although this verse is talking about 'spirits' I am thinking, one might be able to apply it to people, books, movies etc.
1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
1 John 4:1
These Heaven travelogues, have the tendency to turn people from sufficiency of Scripture.
8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. Colossians 2:8
And finally this verse:
9 But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— 1 Corinthians 2:9

Very well done!
I'd like to address what you said about 1 John 4:1. Yes, it's talking about "sprits", but not like a spirit being. it's speaking of the spirit in which something is said, or written or heard. So it's speaking about the things we may read, or see or hear. We are supposed to be able to determine if they are godly or worldly; if they've been produced by a spirit of godliness or a spirit of this world-a demon. See what I mean?
