Hello all , I've been doing some research and just want to see if what I'm reading is correct. Can anyone perform a baptism? I haven't been baptized yet and I like the idea of going off to the lake or ocean and getting baptized there. My parents and sister have also never been baptized and have all mentioned wanting to. I think it would be great if we all did it together . So would it be scriptural if say, my husband baptized me/us? Again, from what I've researched, it doesn't matter who performs the baptism, but I wanted to check here because you are all so knowledgeable.

Anyone who is born again can perform a baptism. The point of the baptism is to proclaim your faith in Christ publicly, which is what you're doing when you're baptized. Most people like to take it a step further and actually share their testimony after their baptism with whoever has come to celebrate it with them. It would be perfectly scriptural for your husband to baptize you, (or all of you) as I'm sure he's a believer. I can't wait to hear about it! Let us know ok? BTW, I was baptized at a lake, and although it was summer, the water was absolutely FREEZING that day! I later heard that some of the teens at a bible camp that my youngest daughter went to got baptized there in the middle of winter. They had to cut a hole in the ice and the kids were baptized in literally freezing water! Suddenly the water I was baptized in didn't seem so cold LOL

Thanks for the response Cindy :-). I actually haven't talked to my husband about it yet LOL. So I would have to at least get him on board and then let the others decide. It won't be in freezing cold ice water though LOL.
