BTW some Sci fi news blog have interesting story who start Twilight Zone new year and Fourth of July marathon turn out be my own city KTLA Channel 5 which probably being run by Gene Autry in late 1970s before dude sold his interest out to Tribune media The origins of The New Year’s Eve Twilight Zone marathon are in bit of a twilight zone of their own; no one knows which regional TV station syndicating Twilight Zone reruns started them - New York’s WPIX (Channel 11) or Los Angeles’ KTLA?—or whether they even began on that holiday at all. "The first one we did was on Thanksgiving in 1980," said KTLA program director Mark Sonnenberg in a 1991 article in the LA Times. In a 1981 cover story, “The Great Twilight Zone Revival: Why Rod Serling’s TV Classic Lives On,” Alternative Media magazine noted that this first Thanksgiving marathon, only eight hours long, received a 16% share. www.denofgeek.com/us/tv/the-twilight-zone/231833/the-twilight-zone-marathon-a-history-of-a-holiday-tradition?fbclid=IwAR1WysQXuSvitmNQKXzy5XcFGQErDwRRx06na0S6_Rc2p0RjLvAC4Jk5exINow this is True TV story back then KTLA used show it July 3 continuing on Fourth of July I remember watching off and on start at 7am then ran throughout whole day break for 10pm news show on Fourth Of July date until 12 midnight next day July 5

Yay...we have some of our US friends ( fire fighters ) over here to help out. Can you please pray for them so we can work well as a Godly fire fighting team? Apparently we have mega-mega fires ( 3,400,000 acres and counting ) according to this chap. www.abc.net.au/news/2020-01-02/us-firefighters-arrive-in-australia-to-help-efforts/11838086I will tell you more a bit later about our fires. Great chunks of coastal towns populations are being evacuated. Massive convoys of people leaving. Navy evacuating 1000s of people. Humbly Steve

Hi Im OK, but Australia just seems to be burning *everywhere* People are now dying. Please can you pray for us.... I'm just so saddened by all of this. And yes, I've been praying for the Lord to keep you safe and all the other true Christians in your country. I've been reading about Sodom and Gomorrah. Not finished with it, yet. A lot to take in, all at once. They didn't teach much about this in the Churches that I've attended, over the years. Wondering why. And I've attended mostly Baptist Churches, some Lutheran, LDS, non-denominational, and one denomination that I thought was a Christian Church, and was NOT!! (Do not be fooled by a Church that calls themselves "Church of Christ". They don't even celebrate Christ's birth, or His resurrection!!) Anyway, my point........not ONE of these "churches" teach the whole Bible.
But, I quoted you to let you know that I'm praying. I didn't realize you'd gotten taken in by the LDS cult! They sure are good at hiding what they really believe until they've got you solidly in their clutches. They work a lot like Satan does and slowly but surely bring you to the point where you'll be able to accept their garbage as truth, without too much trouble; and any trouble you might have, you'll hide for fear of your "elders". People could actually learn a lot from the way they do things because if they just came right out and told folks up front what they really believe, they'd be laughed at or else it would be suggested they may want to see a shrink. But it's normally a couple of years before someone actually learns what their beliefs are, and they learn it a very little at a time.
May I make a suggestion? That you instead pray for the unsaved rather then the Christians? Because Christians will be OK since the Lord will take care of them and even if they should die, they'll be going home to Heaven. Whereas the unsaved would be dying to go to hell. Better a Christian should die to give the unsaved another chance at salvation..... I don't mean we shouldn't pray for Christians, only that we should include the unsaved.....
Hi everyone Thank you for your prayers. A large town called Batemans Bay in NSW came within a whisker of being wiped out as 200 foot flames circled it ( 200 feet is not a misprint - once the fire gets going in the tall timber it creates a blow torch effect ). Its only by Gods grace it survived, although they lost 20 houses, then the wind changed direction - the power of prayer at work! Thank you. Here is the reality on the ground - spare a thought for these *volunteer* fire fighters ( in the video ) who havent stopped for days.... The South Coast from Bega to Nowra is pretty much isolated from the outside world today. Gippslanders must have thouht the gates of hell had opened on them. People were camped on beaches because it was the last refuge they had. I heard one man who was an svowed athiest saying he stated praying to God snd Jesus! As they say, there are no athiests in fox holes..... We have a series of fires burning, the like we have never seen before. It seems we are under a firey judgement for our nations unrepentant sin. The BBC ( UK news service ) is a very good summary. www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-50956318edition.cnn.com/2019/12/31/asia/nsw-fire-truck-video-scli-intl/index.htmlA big Thank You to all American and Canadian fire fighters who have come over to help us - we deeply appreciate your service. Humbly, Steve. Wow Steve, it's amazing what you guys are going through. I've never seen anything like it either! Stay safe and I'll keep you and your country in my prayers!Shirley and I want to wish everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year. We are both watching Holiday movies while we wait patiently for the beginning of 2020. This year, our number 1 goal is to stay Healthy. Of course , God is always 1st in our lives but this year we are consentrating on our health. I hope and pray that all our members have a wonderful New Year. May God continue to Bless each and every one of you. We slept through the New Year as usual. I'm hoping and praying that you both will stay healthy and away from doctors and hospitals all through this New Year! Hi Mark, I hope you and Shirley and everyond here has a great year. I found this - world tennis Champion and now Pentacostal Pastor, Margaret Court, telling it like it is..... edition.cnn.com/2019/12/31/tennis/margaret-court-lgbt-transgender-tennis-spt-intl/index.html"(CNN)Former tennis champion Margaret Court has reiterated her controversial opinions on the LGBTQ community and transgender athletes, claiming LGBTQ teaching in schools is controlled by "the devil." "Court, a Pentecostal pastor in Western Australia, made the comments during a sermon at the Victory Life Centre church which she helped found. "In the video of her sermon posted on the church's Facebook page, Court hit out at people who change their birth sex genders because "God made us that way." ""You know, even that LGBT in the schools, it's the devil, it's not of God," the 77-year-old said. ""Children are making the decision at seven or eight years of age to change their sex, no, just read the first two chapters of Genesis, that's all I say. Male and female," Court said. ""It's so wrong at that age because a lot of things are planted in this thought realm at that age, and they start to question 'what am I'. I completely agree with her! Hey question how Aussie mascot the Koala bear they saying on BBC world news they be on brink of EXINCTION Hi Seven, Koalas are not on the brink of extinction. They have reduced numbers , but their main killer is bushfires. Most of our recent bushfires are bad, due to greenies in our local county govts stopping proper hazard reduction burns. That is the main problem. Kangaroos are so plentiful we would happily export them! I think it would be neat to have Kangaroos in the US It's good to hear that the Koalas aren't close to being extinct though.Happy new year from SO CAL 2020 officially now I going to bed I fix veggie platter we have cold cuts it warm here in LA only in lower 70s MAN they going off fireworks and firecrackers in SO CAL It cool on koala bears that your OZ mascot also Kangaroo I went to local stater bros bought stuff Bruce had New Years day off so we used that to do some grocery shopping. Every year we get a gift certificate for a local grocery store that we absolutely hate going to. Bruce decided that if we went during the week, especially on New Years day, that it would probably have very few people there, at least in comparison to what it's usually like. (a mad house!) So that's what we did, and he was right. It still wasn't pleasant, but at least it wasn't horrible like it usually is.
Happy New year to you all too!

Better late than never :-) Yes the guys lost 2 fire trucks as the brakes failed ( probably heat vaporizing the brake fluid ) we found out afterward. So they all piled into the remaing 2 trucks and high tailed it outta there. Praise God they are OK. Please keep praying for Gods protection over the Aus & US fire teams now operating here with us. Thank you for your service. We may as a nation be under Gods judgement by fire, but please could this situation be used to win souls, to know the joy of knowing Jesus.... Amen.

The other thing too is the smoke...its travelled 400+ miles and the inside of everyones houses smell like campfires if you dont have aircon. Most houses have evaporative cooling so suck the air in. We have no more than 100 yard visibility as its like a thick fog.

Yep we thought it was pretty poor form to heckle the PM. Some people are just quite dim and a bit feral, quite frankly. I may not like someone because of thier politics, but honor is due them in thier role. The PM body guard moved him away quickly and you could see it might have got physical at any moment...

It seems like all it shows is sinful conduct and people seem to think that's wonderful. It makes me sick though. I just can't watch stuff like that. That reminds me of how I've been noticing more and more, well known expressions, cute sayings, and even song lyrics like those, and it seems like all of them go directly opposite of what the Lord's Word says. Yet they're all so well known that most folks, even Christians, don't seem to notice what's wrong with them. But then, most people who call themselves Christians today don't know God's Word so they have no way of knowing how wrong those things are...Steve: That video was scary, and the map of all the fires in your country....unreal!!

Praying now that many would be drawn to their Creator and His Peace because of the fires, and that many of them would be saved! Lord, please use this situation for Your Glory and bring many to repentance and salvation. Thank You Lord! The other thing too is the smoke...its travelled 400+ miles and the inside of everyones houses smell like campfires if you dont have aircon. Most houses have evaporative cooling so suck the air in. We have no more than 100 yard visibility as its like a thick fog. I feel badly for those who have respiratory illnesses because the smoke would make them very ill and could even cause death in some cases. Yep we thought it was pretty poor form to heckle the PM. Some people are just quite dim and a bit feral, quite frankly. I may not like someone because of thier politics, but honor is due them in thier role. The PM body guard moved him away quickly and you could see it might have got physical at any moment... The Lord's really been impressing me with how we are to honor all human being regardless of whether we want to or not, if only because they've been created in our God's image. God is Holy, and therefore being created in His image is a very special thing and we're to treat everyone with honor because of that. I didn't understand this for a very long time, but He's finally gotten through to me. It's another part of the reason we're to love everyone. (but of course we know that God tells us that we're to especially show honor to those who are the leaders of our country, our state, our town, and our Church. (1 Peter 2:13 etc)
I've got to pay bills today so I don't have much time to do anything else. It will be so nice when we no longer have to worry about things like that.

Steve are any of the fires near you? I agree 100 percent: "We may as a nation be under Gods judgement by fire, but please could this situation be used to win souls, to know the joy of knowing Jesus...."
You know our country could be soon to experience the same...maybe not this year or the next....but it could be today.
I was reading that: "More human beings died in abortions than any other cause of death in 2019, a new report indicates.....statistics compiled by Worldometers indicate that there were over 42.3 million abortions world-wide in 2019".
Sadly, I think our country may be leading the pack.....but imagine in just one year.....43 million babies killed???
So the day may be coming when we ill be needing your prayers.
but I will continue to pray for you and like Cindy said....for the unbelievers there also!!!! Can that even be possible?

Merry [late] Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. I've been reading through this new (to me) thread and, along with everyone else, am concerned about the people of Australia and the fires. (Actually have been keeping up with the situation through former member Melissa on FB.) Prayers for SALVATION and for everyone involved.
We have had a busy few weeks with the holidays and don't see things slowing down for several more. This afternoon I'm playing the piano for the funeral of a 96 year old man from our church, a WWII veteran whose wife just died last year.... a very sweet couple. I think their minds remained sharp up until the end - what a blessing.
Our Daniel has been sick with the flu all week. Poor thing has always seemed to get sick so easily and I don't know if it's the stress of college or what, but at 20 he still is susceptible to illness. Last week he was chaperoning a church youth retreat, became ill, and had to leave on Monday to go in search of a clinic. He actually tested negative for flu, but the NP said he has all the symptoms and that everyone has the flu, so she prescribed Tamiflu. He went back to his school apartment and suffered alone there for a couple of days, then drove home on New Years so he could suffer here!
He's supposed to start an internship in a civil engineering firm on Monday (2 days!), so we're praying he is up to it. From this point on, he'll work a semester, go to school a semester, etc., until he finishes. He's a junior, so still has at least 3 more semesters of classwork. My boys "grew up" here on FH and I appreciate how you all have cared about them, shown interest in their lives and PRAYED for them through the years. In the same way, it's been a joy to read about all your families and feel a part of your lives, through chat here.
Cindy, what you said about the LDS cult - so true!! My cousin was pulled into it during college with tragic results. He married a Mormon and now has children and grandchildren who are strong in their "faith." In fact, another cousin (his sister) recently texted me, asking for prayer as her family joined his for Christmas, hoping for opportunities to share their true faith. I haven't heard how it went, but know their hearts are typically hardened to the truth of the Gospel.
Well pretty much everything I've posted today has been on the negative side, so maybe I'll just stop now!
Hope you all have a nice New Year, and everybody stay well!!

Lorrie! Not negative at all! Just things that concern you and, in turn, concern us as well!! I'm praying for Daniel right now! I'm also praying for your cousin and his family, to turn from the LDS Mormon belief, that is not of God. And also praying for your other cousin, to be given the right words to say and the discernment of when to finish, walk away and give it to God, in His hands.
And yes, we have enjoyed your sharing your boys with us, over the years. I do feel like I've watched them grow up, through you, and love them both, very much! It was awesome to finally get to meet Timothy, when I was in SC. I know that I concerned him, when I insisted that I could get his beautiful dog to warm up to me. He was worried, and told me "Please, just go inside." I did, and didn't try again. Please apologize to him, for me. And I don't blame the dog, one iota. I blame myself, because I didn't respect the fact that she was obviously abused, at some point, by a female, and why she doesn't trust us much. I'm so glad, though, that she's had a chance to warm up to you. How could she not? You're a wonderful lady!! SO good to see you here! Please don't be such a stranger!

Better a Christian should die to give the unsaved another chance at salvation..... I don't mean we shouldn't pray for Christians, only that we should include the unsaved.....
Well, I guess I should explain. I had talked about this years ago, and summarized it, on and off, over the years, but to reiterate. I wasn't taken in by the LDS cult. Never. I was yanked in, when I was a child, by my Aunt Dorothy. My Dad's older sister. She found out that Mom and Dad were "letting" me attend a Baptist Church, down the road from us, and she was having none of it. Mind you, we had attended this Church, since we were toddlers, but now she wanted to butt in. She convinced my Dad to let her pick up Jackie and me, and take us to her church, in Gary. We, of course, didn't know the difference, being so young, but neither of us liked being there. We were "outsiders" and were treated as such, and when the time came for the Christmas play, we were supposed to go up on stage and recite scripture, for our part in the play. We were never introduced or called up there. We were so ready, too. Jackie and I both memorized our scripture "lines" and worked so hard for it. When we asked Aunt Dorothy why we are sitting out here, and not back stage, she just shrugged. Oh, and when they pray, they don't put their hands together in prayer, they cross their arms, like they are mad. (that's how I saw it, as a child) Aunt Dorothy slapped my hands down, when I put them, palms together, to pray. Yes, the woman was very abusive to mainly me, when we were children, and she babysat often. Jackie was her favorite, so I got the beatings, whenever she felt like it. I begged my Mom to stop making me go over there, and for half my life, she didn't listen. I did hear her arguing with my Dad, several times, about it, though. They both worked, so she didn't have much choice in sitters, because there were so many kids. I finally convinced her to let me take care of the little ones, and no more babysitters. Hence, my life, not as a child, but a caregiver. I guess the Lord trained me from a small child, on care-giving. Huh?
But, back to the LDS portion of my life. I put my own foot down, and refused to let Dorothy dictate where I attended Church, and my mother won her argument, with Dad. It was the Christmas play fiasco that finally gave me my way. I went back to the Baptist Church that I grew up in, and managed to get re-programmed, to the True God of the Bible, and accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 11. But, when I was 13 years old. They (the Baptist church) called me, and 5 other girls to ask us to take care of 6 children, in the nursery of the church, while the parents went on a Wednesday night missionary. Long story short, I was primarily the one who took care of those children. One was an infant, and the rest older. One little boy was very sick and had diarrhea. No one would help me tend to him, so after I had gone through all of his diapers, I was using the diapers, provided for the other children. When the infant was crying or needed feeding or changing, they handed her to me. Finally, the parents returned, but would not come retrieve their children, (even the mother, who I told needed to take her child to the hospital) and it was after 9pm, a school night, and I wanted to go home! They went back to the room, behind the main church area, behind a closed door. The other girls wanted to go home too, so they elected me as the person to get them out of there. I went and knocked, and a man came to the door, opened only by a crack, and hollered at me to go back and they'd be out in a minute. I don't how long it was (not long), but the girls prodded me to try again. This time, I didn't knock. I swung the door open and on the very table that I received my Sunday School Bible lesson was covered with liquor bottles!! That same man came at me, hollering "how dare you just barge in here!....." I didn't let him finish. I said I want to go home, and I want to go home, RIGHT NOW! And you're not driving me! You're drunk! I want you to unlock the door to the rectory and let me use your phone! I had to say it a couple of times, but finally got to use the phone, and called my Mom to come get me. (I don't remember how the others got home) She was angry, but I think my own anger outweighed hers. And I never returned to that church. And with my mother's blessing. She told me that even if I had considered it, she would not allow it. As a matter of fact, I refused to go to any church for many years, because I'd lost my trust in "the church". It wasn't until after the 911 and because of that happening, my Mom found her own non-denominational Church. A very small Church with a congregation of 20 and she convinced me to please attend. For her, I did. And to make sure she was being taught correctly and treated right. She was. She re-affirmed her faith, was baptized and went to be with the Lord, less than a year later, (April 2003) after losing her battle with lung cancer. But, in all of those years, God NEVER left me. He already had me, and never let me go. He has been with me, protecting me, holding my head up in the hard times, and keeping me sane when I lost my son. And He has been taking care of me, ever since Ed died. Providing for me when I've needed it the most. Never too soon, and never too late. He is still with me, even as I write this. He has been with me, since birth.
OK........I don't know why I always say "long story, short", because it never is "short" .
<-------that's me in the middle.
I'm coming back in to edit, because I went on, so much, about the first part of your reply, to me, that I forgot to respond to the second part, about how I prayed for Australia. I do stand corrected, and have already prayed ( a few times) for forgiveness, for not praying for the unsaved. I have since asked the Lord to bring them to Himself, and save all of the people of Australia. Please forgive me, for my error. I was thinking about Sodom and Gomorrah, and remembering that God destroyed that city, and brought out the ones who were righteous. And forgot that God desires for ALL to come to Christ, and it's not too late, before they die.

Hi
Cheryl - I think many people get deceived, because the Devil makes it look all glossy and convenient, but people forget that if you even read Pauls account as an Apostle, he was often stoned or slept rough or run out of town for preaching the truth. I'm not saying we should aim for such things, but Christianity at its pivotal point, was Christ dying in a city where his name was written in 3 languages, and Christianity is designed to be lived, not polished and admired. And the Devil creates all these distractions and half truths to lure people away, but the Gospel is unmoving and uncompromising. As one commentator said "The gospel is offensive to those offensive to God" ... which sound harsh, but its kind of true. Salvation is a narrow path, and few are the ones finding it, lest we forget. The Devil also uses another ploy of trying to discredit the Bible through twisting scripture. His latest distraction is trying to turn "climate change" into a State sanctioned pagan religion, which has IMHO deceived many young ones. The Australian fires:
Conditions here have eased back a bit, thank you very much for your prayers, they are helping greatly.
The general comment made by Israel Folau that our country may be under judgement for allowing same sex marriage, now looks possible. Whats interesting is that Australia's capital, Canberra, has been blanketed in choking smoke, so while it hasnt been burnt out, its politicians have both watering eyes and trouble breathing. It reminds me of the biblical plague in Exodus of the frogs...just no escape from it.
Whats amazing about this situation is that its just been non stop. One senior fire fighter said that "the fires just wont give up"...which makes me wonder.
We've had a huge area burnt out across the states of both NSW and Victoria ( 15,000,000 acres ). Temps have reached 120 F , unofficially probably higher.
One great thing is people have been opening their homes to strangers and the australian mateship/comraderie thing has really kicked in.
We have govt temporary evacuation centres opened up to house people fleeing from the fires. But locals are also donating money & time and resources to help people.
We have the National Guard compulsory mobilization yesterday, so an extra 3000 firefighters were added. Most of the firefighters are all local people who are volunteers from their local counties and municipalities who pay their own way, often for days and weeks at a time.
This link is a good summary so far. www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-50951043
Please could you pray for God to protect the safety of Australian, American and Canadian firefighters, and the normal people affected by the fires.
Please could you also pray that God might find at least one righteous person to bring to Him through all this.
