TV has gradually made sins tolerable, acceptable, and finally praised. Another reason I'm so glad we got Roku. They offer streaming live channels now, but we're not interested. We watch mainly old shows from years ago. You know, the kind without swearing, sex, etc. The kind where God is mentioned in a positive manner, sin is considered bad, and everyone knew what their gender was. The very few commercials we see are much shorter than the ones on live TV and are few and far between. In the 2 years we've had it, I've only seen one that I felt was slightly offensive. We no longer pay an arm and a leg for it either. Our monthly expense is only $18.98. A big change from dish or cable! The only problem we have is deciding which show to watch since there's so many good ones. We love to choose a show and start with season 1 episode 1, and then watch all the episodes of all the seasons one after another, in order, till the end. (Took us a year to do that with one show lol) Before we got Roku I was more than ready to not watch TV at all anymore. Mostly I just read books while Bruce watched. Now though, I'm watching more then I have in a long time. Before we got roku, I remember thinking that I couldn't even read the titles of the shows anymore without having my nose rubbed in sins! That's pretty bad, and I'm sure it hasn't gotten any better since then.
TV shows: Many of these are on all 3 channels that we watch the most. The shows I'm listing here are ones from YouTube, Amazon prime, and Hulu. We only pay for Amazon prime ($12.99 a month) and Hulu ($5.99 a month). All also have a lot of great movies (including Christian ones - though those are mainly on YouTube and Amazon prime.) But I'm not listing those. YouTube and Amazon also have many cooking shows. The best part besides only rare short commercials, is that we get to watch all the episodes on all the seasons of each show and can watch them in order. Please know that I'm not saying these shows don't show sin, or that they're perfect. They aren't. They're just better than what's being offered now.
TV shows
Stargate: SG1 Stargate Atlantis Stargate Universe
Star Trek Star Trek the Next Generation Voyager Deep Space Nine Star Trek Discovery
Andromeda Earth Final Conflict
The Waltons Highway to Heaven Andy Griffith Dr Quinn Medicine Woman Kung fu Treasure island The Swiss Family Robinson Daniel Boone The Rifleman The Real McCoys Pettycoat Junction My Favorite Martian MacGyver Judge Roy Bean Wagon train Dusty's Trail Robin hood Black Beauty The Virginian The Lone Ranger Hopalong Cassidy Gunsmoke Bonanza Maverick Giligans Island Huogans Heros McHale's Navy F Troop The Rat Patrol Last Man Standing Home Improvement Duck Dynasty Americas Funniest Home Videos Dick Van Dyke Show Downton Abby Anne of Green Gables Heartland Little House On the Prairie
You can see the many shows and movies on Amazon prime just by going to Amazon.com and clicking on videos.
These are just on YouTube:
This next one is hilarious as he asks people on the street simple questions, and you won't believe how stupid the average person is today! (And they vote!!!) Mark Dice m.youtube.com/channel/UCzUV5283-l5c0oKRtyenj6Q?sub_confirmation=1

This next is a homestead here in NH that we love watching. Lumnah Acres www.lumnahacres.com/

Be honest I think I take old school tv channels on Broadcast and other stuff over garbage of today beside in my area Movies tv network been showing old School RKO movies that consider Million dollar movie back in day oops, I meant to quote your other post too, sorry.
Yeah, we don't watch anything current or streaming except our local news. Oops, I take that back. We do to, we watch Lumnah acres on youtube which is a modern homesteader here in New Hampshire. But he's a Christian and there's nothing nasty on his videos at all. We've also watched those other youtube stations, but the other one is a guy (Joe) who videos his family too and again there's nothing nasty on his.
The last one we watch once in a great while, is Mark Dice. But the only things we've watched of his was when he's interviewing people on the street. He asks them really simple questions that have very obvious answers, and it just shows how really incredibly stupid people are today. At first I thought it was actors because I didn't think anyone could be that stupid. But they're just random people on the street from all over the country. The last one we watched made me think it was actually really scary because those people vote! But again, he doesn't have anything nasty on those interview ones either. I can't say what's on his other videos as we've never watched them. We just wanted to see the interview ones.
What's interesting to me is that at first I was very relieved not to have to even look at commercials or the titles of what's available today on TV (and I still am!) but now, I've realized that even the "good" shows from a long time ago, really weren't all that "good". By that I mean they really don't portray Christianity correctly, and some at least actually do promote sin. For instance, MASH - it promotes adultery and promiscuity constantly. So I don't watch that any more either. Another one like that is Happy Days which I no longer watch as it simply shows all females as nothing but sex objects, and is all about premarital sex. But even The Walton's show some very badly mixed up theology on some of their shows. But at least these older shows are a lot better then what's available today. So the ones I'm not interested in, I just read my books

OK, I finally got around to listing some of the Christian and regular movies we watch. These are all on Amazon Prime. I haven't had time to check Hulu and YouTube for what movies we watch there.
The ones with stars after them are ones that I remember as super good.
Christian TV:
John Bunyan - The People's Pilgrim ***** This documentary reveals the story of John Bunyan's life, his personal struggles, his triumphs, and his remarkable legacy. The uneducated son of a tinker, Bunyan survived the horrific English Civil War only to be jailed during an era of great religious persecution. From his jail cell Bunyan wrote his great allegory of the Christian life. Join us as we follow the well-trod path of John Bunyan.
Dr Francis Schaeffer, How Should We Then Live. This is Dr. Francis Schaeffer's spectacular series on the rise and decline of Western culture - all from a Christian perspective. In plain language, this series presents profound truths revealed in Christ through scriptures.
John Hus - A Journey of No Return This powerful historical docudrama depicts the last days of 14th century church reformer John Hus and reveals how his faith deeply impacted those around him.
A Man Named Martin The life of Martin Luther is one of resolute conviction and steadfast faith. This documentary will examine the life and teaching of this great reformer.
John Wycliffe - The Morning Star This is a dramatic biography of the life of the 14th century scholar and cleric who translated the Bible into English for the first time. John Wycliffe found himself in the middle of religious, political and social conflicts.
Adoniram and Ann Judson: Spent For God Adoniram and Ann Judson were the first American missionaries sent abroad from the United States. The couple sacrificed enormously to bring the gospel to the people of Burma.
Christian Movies: I Can Only Imagine ***** The Ultimate Gift ***** A Box of Faith ***** In His Steps ***** Consider It All Joy***** Hiding In Plain Sight Healed By Grace The Note The Note 2: Taking a Chance on Love Guided By The Word Badge of Faith Ben-Hur (2016) ***** The Ten Commandments ***** Faith's Song The Song The Ride Test Of Faith
Left Behind Left Behind Tribulation Force Left Behind World at War Apocalypse Tribulation A Thief In The Night The Prodigal Planet Image Of The Beast A Distant Thunder Revelation Sunday Morning Rapture (its different)
Christian Christmas movies: ( must see: *****) One Special Night ***** Christmas Child ***** Midnight Clear ***** A Christmas Snow Christmas Grace Faith Filled Christmas The Gift of Love: A Christmas Story Christmas Miracle *****
Regular Movies: Sitting Bull: A Stone in My Heart A Walk in the Woods A Man Called Horse Song Of Arizona World Trade Center Independence Day Independence Day: Resurgence White House Down The First Season The Final Countdown
Stargate Stargate: Continuum
Lots of John Wayne movies Lots of war movies lol
As far as new movies go, I've been told there are a lot of new release movies on Prime. I've never watched enough or paid attention, so I wouldn't know.

Wow! There is so much to see and explore! I don't have Amazon Prime, or Hulu, but I do have CBS ALL ACCESS. It's costs me $5.99/mo. Maybe later on, I will consider the others, but I cannot, right now. I still have the ROKU channel freebies that you steered me to, Cindy, and that is plenty to hold me over, for a while. I have finished binge watching the original McGyver, with Richard Dean Anderson. I really missed that show, and didn't realize how much I liked it, until I sat and watched each episode. They just kept getting better. I like the new reboot, but for different reasons, and both shows could not be more different and opposite of each other. They should have called the new show "McGyver's cousin" or something, and they messed up and re-wrote the Phoenix Foundation's origin and showed the new McGyver as actually founding it and naming it. And Mac didn't drink, the new one always ends the episodes with a beer. The old Mac lived on a houseboat, and when it burned he got another one. Have no idea, where the new one lives, but I can guess......it ain't a houseboat. And I loved how the old Mac worked pretty much alone, and met people along his journey. The new one has a team. I like the team, but it should not be called a Mcgyver Reboot.
Anyway, I talked way more than I planned to, about that show. lol The other shows, on there, that I like are all 3 NCIS's. The original, the one in Los Angeles, and the one in Louisiana. I think my favorite one, now, is Louisiana. (Now that they took Ziva, Abby, and DiNozzo off NCIS, original) I like Scott Bakula, the actor in the Louisiana version. But, if they go back and center on the lesbian, I will stop watching that one altogether. I had to shut off 2 episodes, because of that.
My mostest FAVORITE is Blue Bloods, with Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, and Len Cariou. Y'all might remember Len Cariou from Murder She Wrote. He played in a LOT of those episodes as a CIA operative. And, of course, Tom Selleck needs no reminder. If this was the only show they offered on CBS, I'd still pay the 6 bucks for it. LOL
My brother shared his Netflix, with me. While I don't visit it often, there were a couple of movies that I've been wanting to see, and the wait was SO worth it! One was a remake of the Left Behind movie. It centered mostly on the airplane. None of the original actors were there, and Nicholas Cage played Raymond. That was hard to take, at first, but he grew on me, lol. But, this version explained the Rapture, way better, IMO. Worth seeing!! *****
The other one was God's Not Dead2. I've seen the first one. The 2nd one is not at all the same, and not a continuation of the first one. It was actually a LOT better too. Another one worth seeing!! *****

I just added Little House On the Prairie - all 9 seasons, which I'll soon be watching! It's on Amazon. (I edited my opening post and added it there so others won't miss it.)
If you're happy with it Cheryl, that's all that matters!
