Pro-Life Movie ‘Unplanned’ Blocked on Twitter Hours After Release
By Tyler O'Neil March 30, 2019
On Saturday, Twitter temporarily suspended the account for the pro-life movie Unplanned, a film that tells the story of a former abortion clinic director at Planned Parenthood. The film was released on Friday.
"If Twitter is committed to helping increase the 'openness and civility of public conversation' and to hold themselves 'accountable towards progress,' then what’s with the censorship of a differentiating opinion?" Ashley Bratcher, the actress who plays former Planned Parenthood clinic director Abby Johnson, asked in a statement to PJ Media on Saturday. "Unplanned has used their platform to engage conversation on both sides of a controversial topic in a way that is encouraging and open minded."
Bratcher reported the suspension on Twitter. “Trying to figure out why the [Unplanned movie] account has been suspended. 🤔 We need answers.”

Mike Lindell, CEO of MyPillow and a producer of the film, also shared the news. "Why did Jack and suspend the [Unplanned Movie] account? They don’t want you to see this movie! Make your voices heard and tell your friends to go see the movie this weekend!" Lindell tweeted.

Despite Twitter Suspension on Opening Weekend, ‘Unplanned’ Reaches 80K More Followers than Planned Parenthood
PENNY STARR 3 Apr 2019
The road to the big screen has been a rocky one for Unplanned, the movie based on the life of former Planned Parenthood clinic director turned pro-life activist Abby Johnson.
Aside from many media companies refusing to advertise the film, which opened in 1,000 theaters last weekend, Twitter temporarily banned the movie’s account on opening weekend, and a rocky reinstatement caused followers to fall away and did not allow new followers to sign on.
Everyone from Ashley Bratcher, the woman who portrays Johnson in the film, to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) tweeted their frustration about what they saw as the social media giant’s censorship of a pro-life movie.
“Trying to figure out why the @unplannedmovie account has been suspended,” Bratcher tweeted. “We need answers. #unplannedmovie”

'Unplanned' actress: Message more important than Hollywood reaction
WND EXCLUSIVE
Ashley Bratcher, the actress who plays Planned Parenthood nemesis Abby Johnson in the stunningly successful new movie “Unplanned,” says she knew her performance might trigger Hollywood to blacklist her.
But she said that risk was “very small” compared to the value of getting the message out.
“Think of all the people who are affected by this movie,” she said in an interview with Samaritan’s Purse chief Franklin Graham, who posted it online.
“I believe God’s going to honor me because he called me to do this,” she said.
The film tells the story of Johnson, a Planned Parenthood clinic manager who was awarded employee of the year. Her clinic had conducted thousands of abortions before she was called for the first time to the surgical room to assist.
What she saw shocked and horrified her so much that she fled the abortion industry to become a pro-life activist.
Bratcher explains how she became an actress for a local talent agency, worked in New York briefly and experienced her own unplanned pregnancy.
She said she expressed interest in playing Johnson after an Instagram follower, a “crazy” lady, twice insisted she pursue the role.

‘Unplanned’ film banned in Canada for its life-affirming content
Martin M. Barillas May 20, 2019
OTTAWA, May 20, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) — Distribution companies are effectively banning the film Unplanned from screening in Canadian cinemas, according to the producers of the pro-life biopic.
Speaking at an Ottawa news conference on May 8, producer Lisa Wheeler said, “We have been effectively blocked from distributing the film in Canada.”
Chuck Konzelman, the film’s writer, director, and producer, told LifeSiteNews via email that at least one of the two largest Canadian film distributors said “content” rather than a lack of consumer demand is the reason for banning the film.
According to Konzelman, Canadian law requires that films have distributors so that they can be shown theatrically. In addition, no rating from one of the provincial film boards can be granted, because the producers must list a distributor on the application forms to the film boards.
