Israel: Obama Wants Iran Deal at Any Cost
June 02, 2015 | Israel Today Staff
Senior Israeli diplomatic sources this week accused US President Barack Obama of being ready to sign a nuclear deal with Iran even if it endangers the Jewish state, despite Obama’s own statements to the contrary.
“US President Barack Obama is determined to reach a bad deal with Iran,” the sources told the daily newspaper Israel Hayom, which has close ties to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and is seen by many as a mouthpiece for his government.
The sources continued by noting that “it appears that the agreement with Iran will will be signed [by the June 30 deadline], because the American president is interested in the agreement,” regardless of the negative impact it might have on the region long-term.
The White House has repeatedly stated that “no deal would be better than a bad deal,” suggesting it wouldn’t enter into any agreement that allowed Iran to eventually acquire nuclear arms.
But in a weekend interview with Israel’s Channel 2, Obama hinted that his red lines had become somewhat more flexible, and that one way or another, a deal must be signed.

Obama Red-Faced: Iran Nuclear Stockpiles Grew 20% in 18 Months
Despite US President's claims Tehran 'froze' its nuclear stockpiles, IAEA report shows Iran actually increased them significantly.
By Ari Soffer 6/2/2015
Iranian nuclear fuel stockpiles grew by a massive 20% over the past 18 months of negotiations between Iran and world powers, a report last month by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has revealed.
The report comes just one month ahead of the June 30 deadline set for the P5+1 powers and Iran to finalize a deal over Tehran's nuclear program.
News that Iran has been busily expanding its stockpiles contradicts claims by US President Barack Obama that the Islamic Republic had "frozen" its nuclear program during the last year and a half of negotiations.
Despite that, western leaders appear increasingly likely to accept a deal based on the April framework agreed in Lausanne, Switzerland.
On Monday, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said he believes there is a good chance that world powers will reach a deal which would see Iran curbing its nuclear activities.

US Report Acknowledges Iran May Still Be Pursuing Nuclear Weapons
By Ahuva Balofsky June 5, 2015
The US Defense Department acknowledged in a report that Iran is continuing to develop technologies that “could be applicable to nuclear weapons,” including ballistic missiles, despite ongoing nuclear negotiations, Bloomberg reported earlier this week.
The acknowledgement came as part of an unclassified summary of a Pentagon assessment of Iran’s military capabilities. The full report, dated January, includes classified details and was submitted to congressional defense committees last week.
Despite Iran’s ongoing technological advances in the field, the assessment concluded the Islamic Republic has “fulfilled its obligations” under the Joint Plan of Action reached with the U.S. and five other world powers and has “paused progress” in parts of its nuclear program.
Yet the report also notes, “Covert activities appear to be continuing unabated”, with the intent of spreading Iranian influence across the Middle East, “particularly in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Bahrain, and Yemen.”
