Sanhedrin and Temple Movement Issue Silver Half Shekel With Images of Trump and Cyrus
By Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz February 15, 2018
“Am the same who says of Cyrus, “He is My shepherd; He shall fulfill all My purposes! He shall say of Yerushalayim, ‘She shall be rebuilt,’ And to the Temple: ‘You shall be founded again.’” Isaiah 44:28
In gratitude to US President Donald Trump for recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Jerusalem, the nascent Sanhedrin and the Mikdash (Temple) Educational Center are minting a replica of the silver half-shekel Biblically mandated to be donated by every Jewish male to the Temple.
"The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less, than the half shekel, when they give the offering of Hashem, to make atonement for your souls.” Exodus 30:15
Rabbi Hillel Weiss, Chairman of the Mikdash & Tsion Association that initiates the Temple reenactments and represents all the Temple movements, explained that the initial motivation for the putting the image of the US president on the coin was in gratitude for his support of Israel.
“Gratitude is an important and holy trait,” Rabbi Weiss, who is also spokesman of the nascent Sanhedrin, told Breaking Israel News. “He did a great and historical deed that the Jewish People are grateful for.”
An image of President Trump will be engraved alongside an image of the ancient Persian King Cyrus, who facilitated the building of the Second Temple that ended the Babylonian Exile in 538 BCE.

Sanhedrin Issues Trump-Cyrus Temple Coin for World Peace: Invites Putin, Iran to Join
By Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz April 12, 2018
“For thus said Hashem: When Babylon’s seventy years are over, I will take note of you, and I will fulfill to you My promise of favor—to bring you back to this place.” Jeremiah 29:10
The organizations that created the original Trump-Cyrus Coin are now minting a special edition “70 Year Redemption Coin” focused on generating an international effort to build the Third Temple. The timing, coming just before Israel’s 70th birthday, is essential, and the organizers see the Temple as the only hope in averting the developing multinational conflict looming on Israel’s northern border.
“The Temple, as a house of prayer for all nations, is the source of true peace,” Rabbi Hillel Weiss, spokesman for the nascent Sanhedrin, a biblically mandated court of 71 elders, told Breaking Israel News. “It has been presented in the media as a ‘flashpoint’, the focus of conflict. That is the opposite of the truth and has actually made this lie into a reality.”
The coin, a joint effort of the nascent Sanhedrin, the Mikdash (Temple) Educational Center and the United Temple Movements, prepared it to honor Israel’s 70th anniversary next week on April 19. The coin will feature images of US President Trump and Persian King Cyrus, as did the previous coin minted in February. The president’s image on the coin is intended as a clear message of gratitude for officially recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital..
“In the context of the coin, we are expressing gratitude for President Trump’s bold decision to transfer the American Embassy to Jerusalem thereby recognizing King David’s capital and the site of Solomon’s Temple as the true capital of Israel,” Mordechai Persoff, head of the Mikdash Educational Center, a non-profit organization for education about the Temple, told Breaking Israel News.

Trump Isn't Cyrus, Yet
By Rabbi Tuly Weisz
March 29, 2019
Following President Trump's proclamation recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights on Monday, Prime Minister Netanyahu compared the American leader to Cyrus the Great. While Trump's words and actions deserve our appreciation, comparisons to Cyrus are premature.
During the signing ceremony at the White House, Prime Minister Netanyahu established the historical significance of the Golan decision. "In the long sweep of Jewish history," declared the Prime Minister, "there have been a handful of proclamations by non-Jewish leaders on behalf of our people and our land: Cyrus the Great, the great Persian king; Lord Balfour; President Harry S. Truman; and President Donald J. Trump."
This was not the first comparison of a US president to the Persian king.
President Truman was the first when he actually compared himself to Cyrus. Introduced at a dinner by his friend Eddie Jacobson as the man who "helped create the State of Israel", Truman cried, "what do you mean, helped create? I am Cyrus! I am Cyrus!"
Cyrus the Great (600-530 BC) was the founder of the Persian Empire who expanded his kingdom into the largest empire the world had yet seen during his 30 year reign. From a historical perspective he is known for his many achievements, but the Bible remembers him fondly for a very specific reason.
