Lately I've been watching a show that's on Amazon Prime called "It's a Miracle" and have really enjoyed it! The true stories are amazing and show how awesome our God is and how He's always watching over us. It shows how He will use animals as well as other people or angels to help us when we're in dire need. I'm currently on season 2 and can't wait to watch more.
Sadly, even this show however is tainted with the new age. For someone who doesn't know their bible, it could be misleading. Obviously not everyone who prays for a miracle or who someone else prays for them, knows God's Word well. Therefore when they get the miracle, they often credit a deceased loved one to be watching over them. They'll call their deceased loved on their guardian angel, and that's totally against God's Word. People do not become angels and they're not watching over us, no matter how much we'd like to think they are. If they're saved, they're quite busy and they trust God to take care of us, not themselves. Nor can they appear again on the earth as an "angel" or "ghost". In situations like this where the person believes they see a loved one that's died, it's simply an Angel of the Lord that's taken on the deceased loved one's appearance because they know that will be accepted and won't frighten the individual as much as it would if they saw a real angel. (think about how people in the bible react to angels when they see them - they're scared to death!) Some people even call their dogs or cats their guardian angels which again isn't true. Neither people or animals turn into angels when they die. Angels are of an entirely different race then people or animals.
It's gotten even worse the further I get into the second season, although I still enjoy it. The host who played "John boy" on the Waltons, invites a new age author to share a miracle she wrote about in book and she really speaks about a lot of new age theories which no one corrects.
They've brought in professional dream analysts, and then finally went all out and got into reincarnation on one episode! That was really sad. It was obvious to me that the miracle was that the Lord gave her the information in her dreams so she could bring the adult children back together again. It had nothing to do with reincarnation. The Bible teaches that reincarnation simply isn't true. Why do we insist on coming up with egotistical ways of seeing things to make miracles seem like they're all our own doing and not from the Lord?
They've also had a couple of shows telling how Catholics prayed to a "saint" and their prayer was answered miraculously. The Bible teaches that we are not to pray to anyone other than God and shows us that people who die, cannot hear our prayers and can do nothing for us. Only God is omniscient, not dead people and not angels. We're also taught that God is merciful and shows His love to even the unsaved and wicked in this life, not just those who are saved and have their theology right. It's pretty obvious that God heard and answered their prayers in a way they would accept because He loves them. By the way, everyone who is saved is a "saint" according to God.
Like I said before though, if you know that God is in control and the author of everything, then you can still watch this show and disregard all the new age and catholic false teaching that colors some of it, and simply enjoy how amazing our God is and how very closely He watches over us! The stories themselves are remarkable and very much worth watching. All we have to know is that it's God who heard the prayers, and often God who prompted the people to pray in the first place, and of course that it's again God who gave the miracle. If we know that, then we can watch the show and enjoy the experience of seeing just how great is our God!
