Technology's Dark Side: Isolation and Depression
By Michael Snyder May 01, 2017
Do you ever feel like you have been completely abandoned by the world? Do you struggle with feelings of loneliness, isolation and depression? If so, you are far from alone.
Thanks to technology Americans are more isolated than they have ever been before, and as you will see below, this is really starting to cause a major national crisis. Humans were designed to be social creatures, and researchers have found that a lack of interaction with others can cause major mental, emotional and social problems.
Not only that, it can also lead to premature death. We actually have a need to love others and to be loved by them, and if those needs are not met the consequences can be quite dramatic.
Unfortunately, our society has evolved to the point where we hardly interact with one another anymore. First of all, the size of the average household has declined from about 4.5 people to about 2.5 people over the past 100 years, and we lead the world in the number of one person households.
So for most of us, the number of people that we interact with in our homes is quite limited.

Human nature, from Adam and Eve on, from Noah on, from Agricultural/Hunting Age, Industrial Age, present age and age(s) to come, will find ways and means, technology or no technology, to do what human nature wants to do. Technology, like money, the love of it, the hungering for it, is a root of evil. Like Music, both the devil and our Lord makes use of Music, the devil for selfeshness, our Lord to save us from our sins and present us with a better tomorrow.

Human nature, from Adam and Eve on, from Noah on, from Agricultural/Hunting Age, Industrial Age, present age and age(s) to come, will find ways and means, technology or no, to do what human nature wants to do. Technology, like money, the love of it, the hungering for it, is a root of evil. Like Music, both the devil and our Lord makes use of Music, the devil for selfeshness, our Lord to save us from our sins and present us with a better tomorrow. ...and so much more than just a better tomorrow, that's true, Roland. It's important to have a 'happy medium' with all the gadgetry available today; but what is that medium? The Lord tells us to fellowship together... for our own good, while He is in our midst. I remember the days when believers used to do that in a time when there was no hand-held gadgetry. How did we ever survive? I can't help but remember those simpler times. The younger generations, however, never had those times. They've always had the gadgetry. What would life be without it from their perspective? I can only imagine. Yet, if I bring up these facts as mentioned in the article above I find I end up being dismissed or even pigeonholed as one of those 'horse-and-buggy Christians' which I find rather absurd.

The rise in the quality of technology without a rise in the quality of human nature has led to new and quicker evils. One solution that comes to mind right now: we Christians need to be examples of using technology as wisely as possible and as God's Way as possible. We need to be examples of where both our technology and our nature is being increased in quality by Lord inside of us.
