WOW check this out this came half hour ago on my lunch hour news wires
A suspected chemical attack in rebel-held northwestern Syria killed dozens of civilians including children and left many more sick and gasping on Tuesday, causing widespread outrage.
The attack on the town of Khan Sheikhun killed at least 58 civilians and saw dozens suffering respiratory problems and symptoms including vomiting, fainting and foaming at the mouth, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said.
Syria's opposition blamed President Bashar al-Assad's forces, saying the attack cast doubt on the future of peace talks.
The army denied any involvement however, issuing a statement blaming "terrorist groups" for using "chemical and toxic substances".

'How many more children have to die before Russia cares?'
Gary Willig, 05/04/17
U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley slammed Russia's continued support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad at the UN Security Council Wednesday following yesterday's chemical weapons attack in Syria.
"Yesterday morning we awoke to pictures of children foaming at the mouth, suffering convulsions, being carried in the arms of desperate parents," Haley said in a speech to the Security Council.
"We cannot close our eyes to these pictures, we cannot close our minds to the responsibility to act."
She said that world powers had tried to hold the Assad regime responsible for its crimes against its own people, but “Russia stood in the way of this accountability, they made an unconscionable choice.”

Condemnation will not stop Assad’s chemical war
DEBKAfile Special Report April 5, 2017, 10:15
Seven nations maintain elite military units in Syria – the US, Russia, Britain, Germany, France, Jordan and Israel. American, Russian and Turkish troops are backed by air support. Had those powers decided to destroy the Syrian dictator Bashar Assad’s poison chemical arsenal, they could have combined to do so and finished the job in a few days - and this week’s horrific tragedy possibly been averted.
The death toll from the Syrian chemical warfare bombardment of the rebel-held town of Kkhan Sheikhoun Monday, April 3, is now estimated at 150 with several hundred injured, cared for in totally inadequate medical facilities. The number of child victims has raised the pitch of world condemnation The total figure fluctuates according to source.
But the most tragic truth of all is that no one in Moscow, Washington or Ankara is ready go ahead with this operation, any more than they are focused on ending the six-year old Syrian war, which has claimed a death toll of more than 600,000 – most civilians – and the displacement of 12 million refugees. Instead, they are calling the UN Security Council into another emergency (useless) session.
The most cynical aspect of this international wringing of hands is the sorry record of the way Assad’s toxic warfare record has been handled.

Russia veto puts an end to Syria chemical weapons probe
By Carole LANDRY
UNITED NATIONS (AFP) — Russia vetoed Tuesday a US-drafted resolution that would have extended by a year an investigation of who is behind chemical weapons attacks in Syria.
It was the ninth time Russia has used its veto power at the Security Council to block action targeting its Syrian ally.
Russia opposed renewing the mandate of the joint UN-Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) panel before it releases a report on a sarin gas attack in Khan Sheikhun expected on Thursday.
Britain, France and the United States have accused President Bashar Assad’s forces of carrying out the April 4 attack on the opposition-held village, killing scores of people, including children.
After Russia cast its veto, US Ambassador Nikki Haley said Moscow was “once again” siding “with the dictators and terrorists who use these weapons.”
“Russia has once again demonstrated it will do whatever it takes to ensure the barbaric Assad regime never faces consequences for its continued use of chemicals as weapons,” Haley said in a statement.

U.S.: Russia violated its duties on Syrian chemical weapons
Ben Ariel, 01/03/18
Russia has violated its duty to guarantee the destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons and prevent the Assad government from using banned poison gas, the United States charged on Wednesday.
“For Russia to claim that the Assad regime has eliminated its chemical stockpiles is just absurd. Its continued denial of the Assad’s regime culpability in the use of chemical weapons is simply incredible,” U.S. disarmament ambassador Robert Wood told the Conference on Disarmament, as quoted by Reuters.
”Russia needs to be on the right side of history on this issue. It is currently on the wrong side of history,” he added.
Wood’s comments followed reports of repeated use of chlorine bombs over the last month during fighting in the rebel-held Syrian region of Eastern Ghouta.
The Hague-based Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has opened an investigation into the latest reports of the use of chemical weapons in Syria.

Haley blasts Russia after UN veto
Elad Benari, 11/04/18
Nikki Haley, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, blasted Russia on Tuesday, after it vetoed a U.S.-drafted Security Council resolution that would have set up an investigation into chemical weapons use in Syria following an alleged toxic gas attack in rebel-held Douma.
It was the 12th time that Russia has used its veto power at the council to block action targeting its Syrian ally.
“Month after month, the Assad regime, with full support of Russia and Iran, has strung along this Council. They ignored our calls for a ceasefire. They ignored our calls for political dialogue. They ignored our calls for deliveries of humanitarian aid. They ignored our calls to stop using chemical weapons – weapons that are universally banned from war. And then, last weekend, the Assad regime forced a moment of reckoning on all of us by gassing people of Douma,” said Haley.
