Syria to UN: Israel violated our territory
Elad Benari 17/03/17
Syria on Friday sent two letters to the UN in which it said that Israel’s airstrikes on the country violated international law, the UN Charter, and “the sovereignty and the sanctity of Syrian territory,” the Syrian news agency SANA reported.
In letters sent to the UN Secretary General and the President of the Security Council, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said that “in flagrant defiance of the international legitimacy and UN resolutions and the sovereignty and the inviolability of the Syrian territory,” four Israeli warplanes violated Syrian airspace and targeted a military site in the eastern countryside of Homs province.
“As part of its right to defend the sanctity of its territory, the Syrian air defense responded to this aggression and shot down one of the planes while the rest of them were forced to flee,” the Ministry wrote, according to SANA.
“The Israeli aggression this morning comes as a new Israeli attempt to boost the collapsed morale of terrorist groups after they were defeated recently by the Syrian Arab Army and its allies in many areas,” the Ministry said in the letters.

Russia summons Israeli Ambassador
Arutz Sheva 17/03/17
...Ambassador Gary Koren, who had presented his credentials to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, was called in for a discussion with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov on the recent developments in Syria, a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Syria responded to the Israeli airstrikes by launching several anti-aircraft missiles towards the Israeli aircraft.
One missile was intercepted by Israel's Arrow air defense system, one of the first times the system has been used.
Residents of the Jordan Valley, Jerusalem and Samaria reported hearing sirens and explosions as a result of the operation, but the IDF stressed that at no time were the soldiers or Israeli citizens in danger.
News of the summoning of the ambassador came just after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu issued a statement on the airstrike and said Israel will continue to act to prevent the transfer of weapons to Hezbollah.
“Our policy is very consistent: when we identify attempts to transfer advanced weapons to Hezbollah, and we have the intelligence and operational feasibility - we work to prevent this," the Prime Minister said.

Iran: Israel’s ‘aggression’ in Syria proves it’s aligned with ‘terrorists’
By Times of Israel staff March 18, 2017
Iran on Saturday denounced Israeli “aggression” over its airstrikes in Syria early Friday, and claimed Jerusalem’s interests were aligned with those of Syrian “terrorists.”
According to a report on Iran’s Press TV news channel, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi questioned the timing of the Israeli operation “at a time when [Syria’s] army and the anti-terror front have the upper hand against bloodthirsty terrorists, driving them back from cities and villages one after another.”
This, he said, proved that Israel shared interests with those of rebel groups, which Iran and Syria refer to as terrorists.
Qassemi called on the UN to condemn Israel’s “aggression” and to prevent further “acts of violation of peace and security by the aggressive and rogue Zionist regime.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday the Israeli strikes on several targets in Syria early that day targeted weapons bound for Lebanon’s Hezbollah, and that the Jewish State would do the same again if necessary.

Israel Confirms That Israeli Air Force Strike Destroyed 100 Syrian Missiles
By JNS April 27, 2017
“Take counsel together, and it shall be brought to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand; for God is with us.” Isaiah 8:10
An Israeli Air Force (IAF) strike last month destroyed approximately 100 Syrian missiles, many of which were believed to be headed to the Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah, a senior Israeli officer said Tuesday.
While the existence of March’s Israeli strike was already known, multiple Israeli media outlets’ publication of the officer’s comments marked the first details to emerge about the strike’s impact on Syria. The officer did not elaborate on the type of missiles destroyed.

Russia calls for Israeli 'restraint' in Syria
AFP, 27/04/17
The Kremlin on Thursday called for restraint after Syria accused Israel of firing several missiles at a military position near Damascus airport.
"We continue to consider that all countries need to refrain from any kind of actions that lead to an increase in tension in this already restive region and call for respect of the sovereignty of Syria," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
Russia, which has deployed its forces to back up the Syrian regime, has a hotline set up to avoid clashes with Israeli jets in the skies over the war-torn country.
Peskov did not confirm if Israel had warned Moscow of the strike, saying only that the two nations' "defense ministries are in constant dialogue".
