Support for two-state solution shrinks
Arutz Sheva Staff, 16/02/17
A survey released after the much-anticipated meeting between President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu shows support for the two-state solution is in decline.
The “Mishal Amim” poll, conducted by the Tammy Steinmetz Center for Peace Studies in December, 2016 reveals shrinking support for the two-state solution among both Israelis and the residents of the Palestinian Authority.
The results of the survey, released on Thursday, show that only 55% of Israelis and 44% of PA Arabs support a two-state solution. That’s a significant decrease compared to the last survey, conducted in June, which found 59% of Israelis and 51% of the Palestinian Authority Arabs supporting the two-state solution.
In addition to weakening support for a two-state solution, the poll also showed exceedingly low levels of trust between the two sides. Seventy-one percent of Israelis say that they don’t trust Arabs who reside in the Palestinian Authority, while 86% of PA residents say they do not trust Israeli Jews.

While refusing to endorse two-state solution, Netanyahu says Israel won’t annex West Bank
By Raphael Ahren February 16, 2017
WASHINGTON — While adamantly refusing to endorse a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday that he does not intend to annex the West Bank and offer Israeli citizenship to the millions of Palestinians living there.
In a briefing after his meeting with Donald Trump on Wednesday, Netanyahu also indicated a willingness to consider the US president’s call to rein in settlement construction. Later, however, Netanyahu’s office issued a statement saying he did no such thing.
“I said it before, and I will repeat it here again: I don’t want to annex close to 2.5 millions Palestinians to Israel. I do not want them to be our subjects,” Netanyahu told Israeli and international reporters shortly after he left the White House following his first meeting with Trump.

Bennett says Netanyahu seems to be dropping 2-state solution
By Raphael Ahren February 20, 2017
Education Minister Naftali Bennett on Monday expressed pleasure over Benjamin Netanyahu’s apparent abandonment of the two-state solution in the wake of his meeting with US President Donald Trump, though the prime minister has not made an explicit declaration to that effect.
Addressing American-Jewish leaders in Jerusalem, Jewish Home party leader Bennett laid out his vision for the future of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which includes annexing some 60 percent of the West Bank, and offering Israeli citizenship to the Palestinians living there and autonomy to the remaining residents of the territories.
“I am very pleased to see that gradually Prime Minister Netanyahu is adopting this approach. It seems to be — the jury is still out on where exactly we are,” Bennett said. “I will be smarter in a week or two from now. But I am happy that Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Trump are willing to explore new ideas.”
