The Paris Flop! Our prayers have been answered!
Amir’s commentary on Sunday’s Middle East Peace Conference in Paris
“…The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much… (James 5:16)
The Paris Middle East Peace Conference ended up as a great disappointment to the Palestinians and a great relief to the Israelis. The closing declaration at the conference in Paris urged both sides to “officially restate their commitment to the two-state solution”.
It also warned them against taking one-sided actions that could hurt talks, in an apparent reference to Israeli settlement building.
But Britain, which attended as an observer, did not back the final communique.
A Foreign Office statement said: We have particular reservations about an international conference intended to advance peace between the parties that does not involve them – indeed which is taking place against the wishes of the Israelis – and which is taking place just days before the transition to a new American President when the US will be the ultimate guarantor of any agreement.
It’s seems like the worst was the Obama-cooked UN Security Council Resolution 2334, and all that these nations did in Paris was to show their support of it. Nothing unusual or harsher was drafted after that summit. In fact, right after the UN Security Council, the United Kingdom had second thoughts, and their prime minister blasted Secretary of State John Kerry for focusing only on the Israeli settlement in his shameful long speech at the State Department days after the UN vote in which America didn’t use its right to veto, but rather chose to abstain.
