When I was little my late grandpa took me to this tree I play on trunk outside the tree
The California super storm passing through Northern California the last few days has claimed a historic victim. The Pioneer Cabin Tree, a former 'drive-through' giant sequoia was felled over the weekend thanks to the heavy rains and wind whipping through the state.
The tree, hollowed out in the 1880s, was a landmark for tourists visiting the National Park. Cars have not been allowed to drive through for years, but hikers have been able to walk through it as part of the "Big Trees Trail" at the park.

That is sad. I am not a "tree hugger", but I'm sorry to hear this. Feels like a part of my childhood of the 1950's is gone.

Well they say this tree go back to times of Jesus if you believe world history on that yeah this our most famous tree there is tree near by you could walk thorugh not drive thorough that still standing SO Far yeah the storms been nuts in Cali
