The People Are Laughing at the Liberal Media
by Cliff Kincaid on November 10, 2016
Members of the media continue to talk among themselves, as if they had not been repudiated by the people on November 8. Mass firings and new faces are needed if the media are going to have any hope of regaining any credibility with the public.
Some on the far-left are waking up. Anis Shivani of the AlterNet news service asked, “Is the liberal media dead?” She answered: “One of the positives of this campaign is that despite relentless 24/7 propaganda about Trump, exaggerating his personal foibles while painting anyone not supportive of Hillary as a closet misogynist, racist or even sexual predator, the message failed to get through. In the end, no one paid any attention. Those inside the elite bubble were persuaded that they were headed for victory, hearing nothing contrary in their own ecosphere, when they were in fact doomed. The people have shown that they can tune out this noise. The media has fragmented so much that only those who are already persuaded come within the ambit of any new message, so in essence they have pounded their way into their own irrelevance (emphasis added).”
Hillary Clinton had the endorsements of most major newspapers in the United States. Her own website declared, “By all accounts, this election is historic—and so is the list of newspapers from across the country endorsing Hillary Clinton for president. That list includes a number of papers that, for decades, have exclusively endorsed Republican presidential candidates—until now.”

What was interesting was Trump had only 2 newspapers endorsing him.....even those papers with 120 years or so of supporting Republicans.... that broke their tradition and endorsed Hilary.... nevertheless, the people voted for Trump anyway.

New York Times publisher vows to 'rededicate' paper to reporting honestly
November 12, 2016 FoxNews.com
The publisher of The New York Times penned a letter to readers Friday promising that the paper would “reflect” on its coverage of this year’s election while rededicating itself to reporting on “America and the world” honestly.
Arthur O. Sulzberger Jr., the paper’s embattled publisher, appealed to Times readers for their continued support.
“We cannot deliver the independent, original journalism for which we are known without the loyalty of our subscribers,” the letter states.
New York Post columnist and former Times reporter Michael Goodwin wrote, "because it [The Times] demonized Trump from start to finish, it failed to realize he was onto something. And because the paper decided that Trump’s supporters were a rabble of racist rednecks and homophobes, it didn’t have a clue about what was happening in the lives of the Americans who elected the new president."

This was a true statement anyway:
" And because the paper decided that Trump’s supporters were a rabble of racist rednecks and homophobes, it didn’t have a clue about what was happening in the lives of the Americans who elected the new president."

Media Bias Has Become Mental Illness
By Cliff Kincaid November 16, 2016
Aware that their credibility is shot with the American people, the publisher and executive editor of The New York Times sent a “To our readers” note on Friday, saying, “we aim to rededicate ourselves to the fundamental mission of Times journalism.”
This was another way of saying, “Sorry, we blew it,” without being honest with readers.
Those familiar with the paper’s “journalism” understand this to be media bias. But Arthur O. Sulzberger Jr. and Dean Baquet were suggesting something else—that something had gone wrong and they don’t quite know what happened, but don’t worry because the Times will get back to its mission of reporting truthfully.
Beating around the bush, they said Trump’s victory was “the biggest political story of the year,” which had “reached a dramatic and unexpected climax late Tuesday night…”
The word “unexpected” means that the paper’s predictions were wrong.
Then they said that the paper’s newsroom had covered the campaign “with agility and creativity,” which are terms for incompetence and bias. Some people cling to the old-fashioned idea that a paper should report events objectively.
Pretending to reflect on the poor coverage, they finally got to the problem without saying so directly. They asked, “Did Donald Trump’s sheer unconventionality lead us and other news outlets to underestimate his support among American voters?” and “What forces and strains in America drove this divisive election and outcome?”
In other words, Trump’s “sheer unconventionality” caused the paper to misreport what was happening. He had appealed to mysterious “forces and strains,” terms that apparently refer to the voters.

New York Times Updates Social Media Policy to Appear Less Biased
by Don Irvine on October 16, 2017
In an effort to quell criticism of media bias by reporters, New York Times executive editor Dean Baquet issued an updated set of social media guidelines.
To the newsroom:
The New York Times has been a dominant force on social media for years. Our newsroom accounts have tens of millions of followers. Many of our journalists are influential voices on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other platforms. The voices of our readers, listeners and viewers inform and improve our reporting
We believe that to remain the world’s best news organization, we have to maintain a vibrant presence on social media.
But we also need to make sure that we are engaging responsibly on social media, in line with the values of our newsroom.
That’s why we’re issuing updated and expanded social media guidelines.
The guidelines were developed in a collaborative way by Cliff Levy, Phil Corbett and Cynthia Collins, and are rooted in the very experiences of our journalists.
Please read them closely, and take them to heart.
— Dean Baquet, Executive Editor
The updated policy came less than one day after Baquet spoke about his reporters’ use of social media at George Washington University and reported by Politico.

New York Times tops Trump's 'Fake News' awards
Ben Ariel, 18/01/18
The New York Times topped the list of U.S. President Donald Trump’s self-proclaimed ‘Fake News’ awards, which he announced Wednesday night.
Trump announced the winners on Twitter with a link to the GOP website, but the site appeared to have crashed, likely due to being flooded with visitors.
Fox News reported the full list of winners.
1) The New York Times’ Paul Krugman claiming markets would “never recover” from Trump presidency.
2) ABC News' Brian Ross’ bungled report on former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
3) CNN report that the Trump campaign had early access to hacked documents from WikiLeaks.
4) TIME report that Trump removed a bust of Martin Luther King, Jr. from the Oval Office.
5) The Washington Post’s Dave Weigel tweeting that Trump’s December rally in Pensacola, Florida, wasn’t packed with supporters.
6) CNN’s video suggesting Trump overfed fish during visit with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
7) CNN’s retracted report claiming Anthony Scaramucci-Russia ties.
8) Newsweek report that Polish First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda did not shake Trump’s hand.
9) CNN report that former FBI Director James Comey would dispute President Trump’s claim he was told he was not under investigation.
10) The New York Times report that the Trump administration had hidden a climate-change report
11) In Trump’s words, "‘RUSSIA COLLUSION!’ Russian collusion is perhaps the greatest hoax perpetrated on the American people. THERE IS NO COLLUSION!”
Trump also pointed out in a separate tweet, “Despite some very corrupt and dishonest media coverage, there are many great reporters I respect and lots of GOOD NEWS for the American people to be proud of!”
