This is breaking off BBC world news right now
Former Israeli President Shimon Peres has been rushed to a hospital outside Tel Aviv after suffering a stroke.
The 93 year old has been sedated and is breathing with the help of a respirator, his office said. He is now expected to undergo a CT scan.
He had been described as conscious and stable when he arrived at the Sheba Medical Centre in Tel Hashomer.
In January, he underwent successful minor surgery at the same hospital after suffering a small heart attack.
"Shimon, we love you and the entire nation is wishing for your recovery," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted.

"Melania and I join well-wishers from around the globe in wishing you a swift recovery. You are among the last of a generation of leaders who fought for the right of the Jewish people to shape their own destiny and your legacy stands tall," Trump wrote to Peres, according to a statement from Peres’s office.
In addition, the statement said, Pope Francis sent his wishes for recovery to Peres. The Pope prayed for strength for the family, and for a full recovery.

Actually I was watching Al Jazeera live stream when it broke
The death of Shimon Peres at the age of 93 marks the departure of the last major figure in Israel's founding generation.
He died on Wednesday in a hospital after suffering a major stroke.
Peres - one of the disciples of David Ben Gurion, Israel's first prime minister - spent his long political career in the public spotlight, but his greatest successes were engineered in the shadows, noted Yaron Ezrahi, a politics professor at Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
