DEVELOPING: Police in Waco, Texas say nine people are dead and multiple people are injured after a shooting between rival biker gangs at a restaurant Sunday.
“Officers were on scene when shooting started,” the Waco Police Department posted on Facebook. “No officers have been injured.”
Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton told KWTX there were "multiple victims" in the shooting shortly after noon Sunday adjacent to Interstate 35.
It is not clear if bystanders at Twin Peaks restaurant were among the injured.
Swanton said Department of Public Safety troopers, police officers from several cities and deputies from the McLennan County Sheriff's Office are surrounding the restaurant and securing the area.

Authorities had anticipated trouble and pre-positioned officers. "There were at least three rival gang groups here this morning for whatever reason. As they were here, we had officers on scene. We expected issues," said Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton, a police spokesman. The fight broke out at Twin Peaks restaurant and spilled into the parking lot. It quickly escalated from hands and feet, as weapons, to gunfire, Swanton said. He told reporters that eight people were dead on the scene, and another was pronounced dead at an area hospital. An unspecified number of people are injured. No officers were hurt, Swanton said. He praised their response.
