How Obama’s kicking Israel on his way out of office

When President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meet Wednesday in New York, the usual awkwardness will likely be worse. That’s because Obama has just forced Bibi to agree to cut Congress out of a basic part of US-Israel relations.
It’s a major victory in the president’s fight to structurally weaken the US-Israel alliance. Yes, that’s actually one of Obama’s stated foreign-policy goals: He told Jewish leaders in 2009 that it was time to put “daylight” between the two countries.
Few thought he could get very far, since the US-Israel alliance runs far deeper than just the president-to-premier level. But Obama proved such doubts naïve by targeting those deeper relations — and not just with his recent victory.
Back in 2014, for example, he weakened military-to-military ties during Israel’s war in Gaza. Out of the blue, Obama forced the Pentagon to check with the White House before releasing stocks of US weapons kept in Israel — even though they’re stored there purposely to replenish supplies during war.
Last week’s bilateral foreign-aid agreement, finalized by Obama and Netanyahu, is a bigger step — the grand finale of Obama’s eight-year quest to distance the United States from Israel.
And the backdrop to the Obama-Bibi meeting — the United Nations General Assembly this week — is more than coincidental: It highlights Obama’s implied threat.

New York Times to Obama: Hit Israel hard

The New York Times has demanded US President Barack Obama use his last months in office to hit Israel hard diplomatically.
Apparently, this is in response to the fact that the Israeli government "approved the construction of a new Jewish settlement in the West Bank," which is simply "another step in the steady march under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to build on land needed to create a Palestinian state."
Last week, the Israeli government approved a plan allowing Amona residents to move to the neighboring town of Shilo, where they would be housed in a new neighborhood on government land planned specially for them.
Shilo is a town in in the Biblical "hills of Ephraim," and is now under the jurisdiction of the Binyamin Regional Council.
In an article written by their "Editorial Board," the NY Times writes that, "The best idea under discussion now would be to have the United Nations Security Council, in an official resolution, lay down guidelines for a peace agreement covering such issues as Israel’s security, the future of Jerusalem, the fate of Palestinian refugees and borders for both states."
The article continues to say that this neighborhood "is designed to house settlers from a nearby illegal outpost, called Amona, which an Israeli court has ordered demolished because it is built on private, Palestinian-owned land."
In truth, no one has yet come forward claiming ownership of the land Amona is built on. Instead, left-wing organizations have found property deeds given out by King Hussein of Jordan. No taxes were paid on the land, no one did anything to it, no one knows who the owners are, and the founders of Amona built in good faith on land they were told was unowned.

...Lobbying the administration is pointless. Obama has waited eight years to exact his revenge on Israel for not supporting his hostile, strategically irrational policies. And he has no interest in letting bygones be bygones.
Before turning to what Israel must do, first we need to understand what Israel can do.
A good place to begin is by considering what just transpired at UNESCO, where twice in a week, UNESCO bodies resolved to erase 3,000 years of Jewish history in Jerusalem and the Temple Mount.
The fight that Israel waged at UNESCO is not the fight it needs to wage at the Security Council. The stakes at the Security Council are far higher.
Like the UN General Assembly, UNESCO’s decisions are non-binding declarations that have no legal or operational significance. As such, there is no reason to expend great resources to fight them. For Israel, the goal of the fight at UNESCO is not to defeat anti-Israel initiatives. That is impossible given the Palestinians’ automatic majority.
The purpose of the fight at UNESCO is to humiliate European governments that side with antisemitic initiatives, and to weaken the congenitally anti-Israel body itself.

Obama’s November surprise for Israel?

Word is going around in diplomatic circles that the Obama administration is planning a November surprise for Israel. Here’s what is said to be going on.
The Paris peace conference last week, to which Israel and the Palestinians were not even invited, will end up exerting enormous pressure on Israel to create a Palestinian state. This renewed pressure will come despite evidence that a Palestinian state in the West Bank will quickly be dominated by genocidal Hamas, which is a threat to Israel and a disaster for the Palestinians. This will lead, in all likelihood, to a United Nations Security Council Resolution either condemning Israel for not creating that state or for not withdrawing from Judea and Samaria in the West Bank, despite the fact that doing so would irreversibly compromise Israel’s security.
Now, here is where it gets interesting. Israeli officials and Jewish communal leaders have told me that they expect that the Obama administration will not veto the resolution at the UNSC. Samantha Power, the US ambassador to the UN, will not exercise the American veto.
This would mean that the resolution/condemnation goes through. President Barack Obama will not worry about how this might affect Hillary Clinton’s election prospects because the UN resolution will come after the November election.

President Obama appears poised to enact his final betrayal of Israel in his last days in office. We stand ready, willing, and able to defeat any such attempt to undermine our ally Israel.

...While campaigning, Trump said that he would do his best to make peace in the region, and he repeated the sentiment after he became president-elect, saying he was eager to make “the ultimate deal” between Israel and the Palestinians “for humanity’s sake.”
However, his camp is quick to emphasize that it does not intend to force Israel into a deal it doesn’t want. “With Trump, there won’t be any coercion for negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. He thinks Israel is in a tough position, needs to defend itself and won’t force a solution on Israel,” Trump’s Israel advisor, Jason Greenblatt, said on Thursday.
“Peace has to come from both sides. If Trump will have an idea that can contribute to the sides he will contribute it, but he doesn’t intend to force a solution.”
Along those lines, his future administration is adamant that it doesn’t want Obama pursuing that course in the two months until Trump’s inauguration.
“Obama and his aides shouldn’t go seeking new adventures or pushing through policies that clearly don’t match Trump’s positions,” the Trump advisor told Politico.

President Barack Obama has “nearly ruled out” any lame-duck efforts to push a negotiation framework on Israel through the United Nations (UN), and US officials say this is largely due to Donald Trump’s unexpected victory.
As early as last March, Obama was known to be considering a last-ditch bid for Middle East peace through the UN. Before the presidential election, Obama had ordered up an “options menu” for proceeding with an effort to restart peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians through the UN during his last months in office.
However, pursuing the type of peace plan Obama favored was only possible under the assumption that Democrat Hillary Clinton would succeed him, the Associated Press reported.

Ezekiel Prophecy May Foretell Obama’s Zero Hour Betrayal of Israel at UN

The prophet Ezekiel prophesied that in the end of days, Jerusalem would be an international point of contention, and as President Barack Obama mulls a possibly devastating blow to Israel during his last weeks in the White House, that prophecy seems closer to fruition than ever.
An international anti-Jerusalem scenario which sees President Obama using his final days in office to damage Israel via the UN, perhaps by allowing a resolution creating a Palestinian state to pass the Security Council without a US veto, is familiar to those who have read the prophet Zechariah.
And it shall come to pass in that day that I will make Yerushalayim a stone of burden for all the peoples; all that burden themselves with it shall be sore wounded; and all the nations of the earth shall be gathered together against it. Zechariah 12:3
The connection was made by David Mark, chief editor of Israel Rising and political activist for Jewish indigenous rights in Israel, in a political commentary on his website Sunday.
“There is a clear trajectory to create a situation where just by an American abstention, a de-facto Palestinian State will be created,” he warned.

Report: Netanyahu ‘Recruiting’ Trump To Thwart Another Obama Anti-Israel UN Move

TEL AVIV – Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday night reportedly attempted to reach out to President-elect Donald Trump and the U.S. Congress to block a potential last-minute bid by the Obama administration to have the UN Security Council approve parameters for a Palestinian state.
After the anti-settlement resolution was passed on Friday, Netanyahu’s office said he was encouraged by the incoming U.S. administration and working with Trump to “to negate the harmful effects of this absurd resolution.”
According to the Times of Israel citing Israel’s Channel 2, Netanyahu told colleagues off the record, “They are spitting at us.”
“We will respond forcefully,” he added.
On Sunday night Netanyahu summoned the U.S. ambassador to Israel, Dan Shapiro, asking him for an explanation as to why the Obama administration broke with decades of U.S. policy and failed to use its veto rights to shelve Resolution 2334.

WASHINGTON – “Never let a crisis go to waste,” President Obama’s first chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel once famously advised Democrats.
Republicans look increasingly determined to now use that advice against Obama.
The president’s refusal to veto a United Nations resolution condemning Israeli settlements, documented in detail by WND on Friday, is now causing such a backlash, the move could stunningly backfire on the outgoing commander in chief.
Following Friday’s vote, there were immediate calls for the U.S. to defund the organization. By Monday, there was a rising tide of calls to use the vote as a reason for the U.S. to leave the U.N. altogether.
“We need to ditch this organization run by crazies and create one run by free nations,” former Rep. Steve Stockman told WND.
Former Rep. Michele Bachman, R-Minn., told WND, “The U.S. should expose the O.I.C. (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) agenda at the U.N., which is institutional genocide by consensus against the Jewish state of Israel, and against the Jewish people generally.
