This question keeps running through my mind: Who are we trusting in today? Ourselves or God? Personally, I've been shocked over the years at the many ways the Lord has shown me that I've trusted in myself rather then Him. Of course I always said I trusted Him, but my actions said otherwise. I think this is what I'll reflect on throughout today to see if any of my actions would tell others that I'm trusting in myself or anything or anyone other then the Lord. It might be interesting too if we shared some of the different ways the Lord has shown us that we were trusting in ourselves instead of Him, if you'd like to....

PS, this thought didn't just come out of the blue by the way lol, it was because of my devotion time this morning, reflecting on two psalms which I wrote about in this thread: Why we should praise God during our trials

So often I trust in myself to overcome temptation and fail miserably. Trusting in my Lord to help me overcome temptation is my only way.

I know what you mean James. I've been surprised at the many things I've trusted in myself for, including overcoming temptation. I've trusted in myself for the strength to do things I thought He wanted me to do, forgetting that He'd supply the strength I needed if I'd let Him, and so many other things too. I've had to ask Him to remind me or show me when I'm trusting in myself or someone or something else other then Him, so I could repent and focus my trust where it belongs. Having Him show me was the only way I was able to catch them all and deal with them.
