Japan backs France's peace initiative
By Ben Ariel 3/17/2016
Japan on Wednesday expressed its support for a French initiative that would see an international peace conference in an attempt to reach an agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA), the Ma'an news agency reported.
According to the report, PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas, during a meeting with the Japanese envoy to the Middle East, Masahiro Chono, called for the planning and execution of the French-initiated international peace conference to be expedited.
During the meeting, which was held in Abbas' Ramallah headquarters, he reportedly stressed the importance of Japan being a member in the international support group for the proposed international peace conference due to Japan's "international political and economic role."
Chono, according to Ma'an, confirmed his country’s support for the French initiative and its willingness to take part in the peace process with hopes to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

French, PA leaders to plan 'comprehensive' Israel peace deal
By Arutz Sheva Staff 4/6/2016
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will meet France's Francois Hollande in Paris later this month to discuss a new French push for peace, a spokesman said on Wednesday.
Abbas "will have an important meeting with President Francois Hollande to discuss convening an international peace conference in accordance with the French initiative," Palestinian Authority presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina told AFP.
Abbas will travel to France on April 15, before heading to Moscow to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin and discuss "the evolution of the political situation in Palestine and the region", he said.
Abu Rudeina said Abbas would also travel to Berlin for a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel before flying to New York to attend meetings at the United Nations, but he did not provide exact dates.
France launched an effort earlier this year to host an international conference to revive peace talks between Israeli and Palestinian Authority leaders.

To Spite Israel, France Hosting Mideast ‘Peace’ Talks Without Inviting Pro-Israel Voice
By P. David Hornik May 12, 2016
They’re at it again — an Israeli-Palestinian peace conference is taking place in Paris on May 30.
But there’s a catch: neither Israelis nor Palestinians will be there. They weren’t invited, and this was not France’s attempt to be “evenhanded.” In fact, French President François Hollande’s Socialist government has the exact opposite intentions.
Hollande knows that the Palestinian Authority wants the conference to occur, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu strongly opposes it. Inviting neither party is France’s tactic for sidestepping Israel’s decided lack of eagerness.
Not hiding Israel’s disgust, Israeli ambassador to the UN Danny Danon says that Israel is in “a state of emergency,” and that:
… each country that Israel succeeds in preventing from attending the conference will be considered an achievement.
Uri Savir, a veteran Israeli “peacenik” who sees only goodwill in diplomatic machinations, reports approvingly on France’s move:
The French are inviting the Middle East Quartet representatives (United States, European Union, Russia and the United Nations), the Arab League and approximately 20 foreign ministers.
The EU, Russia, the UN, the Arab League … and the Obama administration.
Each of the invitees tilt against Israel’s current position. The Hollande government, by the way, received overwhelming Muslim support in France’s 2012 election and is dependent on that demographic. Secretary of State John Kerry has not yet announced if either he or a lower-level U.S. diplomat will be attending.

US dodges key questions on Israel-PA relations
By Tova Dvorin 5/13/2016
Washington continues to waffle over whether to attend a May 30 conference in Paris which would force peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA), just two weeks before the date.
"There has been no decision made yet on whether we can participate on May 30th," White House Press Office Director Elizabeth Trudeau stated during a Wednesday briefing. "However, we are interested in working cooperatively to pursue our shared goal for a two-state solution."
"We remained concerned about the continued violence on the ground, and we welcome all ideas on moving this forward," she continued. "On this specific conference on the May 30th event, no decision’s been made on participation."
"We continue to look to both sides to demonstrate with actions and policies a genuine commitment to a two-state solution."
Washington has yet to make a clear commitment about the conference, which would see Paris direct talks after years of US failures to mediate a peace deal.

French FM set to meet with PM in bid to sell peace plan
By Times of Israel staff and AFP May 13, 2016
French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault will reportedly arrive in Jerusalem on Saturday, in a bid to persuade Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to accept France’s efforts to engineer a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians, based on a two-state solution.
The Haaretz daily said Netanyahu is expected to strongly criticize the French plan during his talks with Ayrault in Jerusalem, while the foreign minister “will try to persuade him not to reject it out of hand.”
According to Haaretz, Ayrault will arrive in Israel on Saturday night, meet with Netanyahu on Sunday morning, then head to Ramallah for talks with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The foreign minister will depart on Sunday evening.
The paper quoted French diplomats as saying that although the prime minister has publicly opposed the French plan, Ayrault “wants to hear Netanyahu’s views in person.”
The meeting comes a week before French Prime Minister Manuel Valls is also due to visit Israel and the Palestinian territories, in what his office said was an attempt to relaunch the peace process following the worst flare-up of violence in the Gaza Strip for two years.

Netanyahu tells French PM he rejects Paris peace bid, but offers to meet Abbas
By Raoul Wootliff May 23, 2016
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected Monday the French initiative for an multinational conference to relaunch Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts, telling French Prime Minister Manuel Valls that direct negotiations were the only path forward toward a lasting agreement.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Jerusalem before a closed-door meeting with Valls, Netanyahu said a multilateral effort would replace bilateral talks and not bring about any agreement.
“Peace is not achieved in international UN-style conferences, nor through international diktats that come of meetings of countries around the world sitting to decide our fate,” Netanyahu said. “Peace is achieved through direct negotiations where the Palestinian Authority would face a historic choice: recognize a Jewish state side by side with a demilitarized Palestinian sate, or try to eliminate it.”
The meeting with Valls came as part a two-day trip to the region by the French premier that began Sunday, aimed at advancing his country’s plan for the summit in the face of opposition from Netanyahu.
The Israeli prime minister claimed Monday that the international conference was being used by the Palestinian leadership as a way to prevent direct talks with Israel.
“The Palestinian Authority does not see the French initiative as an inducer for negotiations, but as a way to avoid them,” he said.
Instead, Netanayhu said, he would be willing to meet Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas “in Paris or wherever,” and hold face-to-face negotiations without international mediation. “Every difficult issue will be on the table,” he said.

Return of the 70 Nations to Paris to Condemn Israel Prophetic Fulfillment
By Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz January 5, 2017
“They have said: ‘Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Yisrael may be no more in remembrance.’ For they have consulted together with one consent; against Thee do they make a covenant.” Psalms 83:5-6
High ranking officials from 70 nations of the world will gather in Paris on January 15th in an attempt to force Israel to accept a two-state solution with the Palestinian Authority. By so doing, they will be fulfilling a momentous Biblical prophecy foretold thousands of years ago.
When Israeli statesman Shimon Peres passed away in September, leaders and dignitaries from 70 nations gathered in Jerusalem to pay their last respects. The symbolism is no mere coincidence; the very same number of representatives will gather in Paris, but this time to deny the Jewish connection to the Land of Israel.
“Everyone knows already what the purpose of the conference is: it will be used as another opportunity to try to impose a settlement on Israel and avoid direct negotiations between Israel and it’s neighbors,” Rabbi Avraham Arieh Trugman, director of Ohr Chadash Torah Institute, told Breaking Israel News. “What’s interesting is that it isn’t just one or two enemies with a specific grudge, like the Arabs or the Nazis. It is 70 nations, which in Torah terms, means all of the nations,” explained Rabbi Trugman.
Rabbi Shimon Apisdorf, a prominent Jewish educator and bestselling author, told Breaking Israel News that seeing 70 nations written in the headlines caught his attention.
“There is no question that the aspect of specifically 70 nations gathering is significant, the point being Israel is not one of them,” said Rabbi Apisdorf, citing the book of Numbers.
Lo, it is a people that shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations. Numbers 23:9

Kerry to attend Paris conference
Elad Benari, 11/01/17
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will attend the Paris peace conference scheduled for January 15, his spokesman John Kirby said Tuesday, according to the AFP news agency.
Around 70 countries will gather for the conference, although neither Israeli nor Palestinian Arab representatives will be present for the meeting.
The Paris conference, scheduled for January 15, is part of France’s initiative to relaunch the Israel-Palestinian Authority (PA) peace talks which have been stalled since 2014.
The conference is being held despite the objection of Israel, which insists that the only way to reach a peace agreement is through direct talks without preconditions. The PA refuses to sit down for direct talks.

The Nations Plot In Vain - Leaked Draft Of Paris Peace Conference Revealed
By Michael Snyder/Economic Collapse Blog January 12, 2017
A draft of the summary statement that will be released at the conclusion of the 70 nation conference in Paris on Sunday has been leaked.
As you will see below, this communique is going to call for the division of the land of Israel, for the establishment of a Palestinian state, for the 1967 borders to serve as the basis for final negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians, and for the condemnation of any officials that refuse to support a two state solution.
Of course this comes on the heels of UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which many believe represented America's greatest betrayal of Israel. Israeli government officials are publicly warning that there is a possibility that the principles agreed upon at this conference may form the basis for another Security Council resolution before January 20th, and this is something that we should all be watching for very closely. ...
In many ways, the document very closely tracks the language of UN Security Council Resolution 2334. Here are some of the things that really stood out to me in the draft...
-It makes a clear commitment to "two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security".
-It insists that there must be an end to "the occupation that began in 1967".
-It calls on Israeli and Palestinian leaders to publicly renew their commitment to a two state solution.
-It also calls on Israeli and Palestinian leaders to publicly renounce any of their officials that do not support a two state solution.
-It states that the 70 nations gathered in Paris only recognize the June 4th, 1967 borders, and that the only future changes to those borders they will recognize will come as the result of negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians.
And just like UN Security Council Resolution 2334, Jerusalem is specifically mentioned. So according to this document, Israel does not own the Wailing Wall, the Temple Mount, a single inch of the West Bank or a single inch of East Jerusalem.
-The summary statement will also call on all countries to clearly distinguish between the State of Israel and territories that would belong to the Palestinians based upon the 1967 borders in all of their dealings.
Needless to say, this is a horribly anti-Israel document and the Israeli government is already strongly denouncing it.

Bayefsky: France Prepares Yet Another Anti-Israel International Assault, with Obama’s Blessing
by Anne Bayefsky 9 Jan 2017
President Obama has gone rogue and only one man can protect American democracy in the next few days: the President-elect.
On January 15, 2017, with only five days left after 2,917 days in office, President Barack Obama is planning once again to feed Israel to the international wolves. The move is intended to tie the hands of President Donald Trump and is a direct repudiation of the will of the American electorate who rejected Obama’s calamitous foreign policy and a repeat performance by his secretary of state.
On Sunday, France is scheduled to hold an international conference to unleash an international mob on Israel. The meeting is taking place with Obama’s direct connivance. Seventy-states have been lined up to impose their preferences on the Middle East’s only democracy. Israelis are still dying in Israeli streets after seventy years of unending Arab terror – and the folks sitting in Paris munching on croissants know best how to protect Israeli national security.
The bare-faced power-grab by France and its Arab allies – with the blessing of President Obama – raises unavoidable questions: Who will attend? If they attend, how senior a representative will be sent by the main players on the Security Council: the U.S., Russia, and the United Kingdom? Will attendees sign on to an outcome document imperiling Israel that is already circulating? Will the Middle East Quartet – composed of the U.S., the EU, Russia and the UN – approve of the outcome document? Will a UN Security Council subsequently approve of the outcome document before January 20, 2017?

Obama-Kerry have 1 last surprise waiting for Jewish state
Leo Hohmann
Israel is bracing for more hostile declarations from a bloc of more than 70 nations meeting Sunday in Paris with the goal of embracing a document that calls for a two-state solution with a Palestinian state formed within the 1949 boundaries.
Israel will not even have a representative in Paris, nor will Israel be present when Pope Francis meets with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas the day before, on Saturday. This has led some to describe the pope’s meddling as tantamount to “having a wedding without the groom.”
This weekend’s developments are just the latest in a three-week nightmare for Israel that has coincided with the final month of Barack Obama’s presidency. ...
There is language in the document that pays lip service to the concept of a solution “not being imposed” on the parties, “yet that is precisely what U.N. Security Council Resolution 2334, the Paris Peace Summit ‘Agreement,’ and the upcoming UNSC Resolution seek to do,” according to a report by the Jewish Press.
Michele Bachmann, the former GOP congresswoman from Minnesota, a strong supporter of Israel, said the global body’s momentum against Israel has been shifted into overdrive by the administration of President Obama.
“Despite significant U.S. military and diplomatic weakening under Obama’s leadership, the U.S. remains the world’s leading global nation state,” Bachmann told WND. “Tragically, Obama unmistakably sent the message that the problems of the world are Israel’s fault.”
And why would he do that?
“Because Jews seek to live quietly on their own rightfully secured land, and Arabs want the land known as Israel,” Bachmann said. “Arab leaders announce every day they will not rest until Israel is no longer a Jewish state, and apparently Obama agrees with that.”

Paris meeting marks end to Obama’s failed Mideast diplomacy
By Matthew Lee January 14, 2017
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration’s eight years of unsuccessful Israeli-Palestinian diplomacy will come to a crashing end this weekend, with chances for a Mideast peace deal at perhaps their lowest ebb in a generation. A Paris peace conference attended by Secretary of State John Kerry isn’t expected to produce any tangible progress.
At a time when President-elect Donald Trump’s administration is promising a fundamental shift toward Israel, the State Department said Kerry was only participating in the French-hosted event to ensure America’s interest in a two-state solution to the conflict is preserved. The blunt statement reinforced the dwindling hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough.
Kerry “feels obliged to be there because we have an interest in advancing a two-state solution, and we also have an interest in ensuring that whatever happens in this conference is constructive and balanced,” department spokesman Mark Toner said.
No one expects a plan to emerge that could lead to new Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. While more than 70 countries are attending, though neither Israel nor the Palestinians, the US is primarily focused on shielding the Jewish state from unfair criticism and ensuring concerns about Palestinian incitement to violence aren’t ignored.

Five Anti-Israel Offenses In Paris ‘Peace’ Summit Final Declaration
by Aaron Klein 15 Jan 2017
TEL AVIV – Instead of convening a summit on the ongoing civil war in Syria, or the migrant crisis threatening Europe, or the rampant anti-Semitism plaguing its own country, France on Sunday held a convention attended by over 70 nations to affirm the international community’s commitment to creating a Palestinian state.
At the end of the farcical display, and with neither Israel nor the Palestinian Authority in attendance, the Paris summit representatives released a brief concluding declaration unanimously agreed to after negotiations between the countries.
Reports here credited Israeli diplomats with helping to water down the anti-Israel language of the final declaration, calling the text a “significant weakening” and “less harsh than was initially expected.”
Still, the text was anything but fair. Here are five anti-Israel offenses in the 658-word final declaration:
1 – The text draws a moral equivalency between “violence,” which would include Palestinian terrorism targeting civilians, and “settlement activity,” meaning Israelis building homes in the West Bank or eastern sections of Jerusalem...

EXCLUSIVE – Palestinian Official: Paris Summit Participants Tempered Attitude Fearing Trump
by Ali Waked 16 Jan 2017
President-elect Donald Trump’s pro-Israel views likely influenced the outcome of Sunday’s Paris Mideast summit, a Fatah official told Breitbart Jerusalem, leading to what the official termed a modestly worded resolution at the confab’s conclusion.
“Indeed, the outcome of the summit was overall positive but we expected it to lay out concrete parameters that would translate our resolutions into operative steps, but because the participating governments didn’t want to confront Trump they didn’t go that far,” said Tayseer Nasrallah, a member of Fatah’s Revolutionary Council.
“Declaring a Palestinian State in the 1967 borders, a resolution against the settlements, their commitment to the creation of a Palestinian state … all this is fine and well, but sadly we don’t see a mechanism that would usher in the implementation,” he said. “It’s hard to predict what Trump will do. But based on his election pledges, he is unlikely to be committed to (Secretary of State John) Kerry’s parameters and the Paris resolutions. It’s hard to predict his Middle East policy altogether, including moving the US embassy to Jerusalem, but if that happens it will definitely give an indication of his ideas regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”
Nasrallah said that in preparing for the Paris summit “there was excellent coordination between the Palestinian Authority and the Obama administration. There was excellent coordination with France. But again, the question that arises is whether the Trump Administration will allow the community of nations to implement the resolution or not.”
